    В начале статьи дается краткая характеристика русского религиозно-философского ренессанса. Далее, из взглядов и идей Н.А. Бердяева и И.А. Ильина выделяются аксиологические темы. Автор приходит к убеждению, что метафизический (у Бердяева) и онтический (у Ильина) статус ценностей определяет характерные для Н.А Бердяева – персонализм и „ле-визну”, а для И.А. Ильина – идеализм и консерватизм.
    In the first part of the article, the author presents a short characteristic of the Russian philosophy of the revival of philosophical and religious life. In the next parts that are based on the Nikolaj Berdyayev’s and Ivan Ilyin’s thoughts, the author highlights axiological threads from their views. She concludes that ontic status of values (in Ilyin’s thought) or metaphysical (in Berdyayev’s thought) implies adequate for Berdyayev – personalism and “leftism”, while for Ilyin – idealism and rightist.

    Opis:
    From the end of the 18th century to the Second World War, Poland suffered severe losses in the area of cultural heritage. Many collections of both institutional libraries and private antiquarians were transported from Poland, mainly to Russia, and some have never returned. The article presents the current state and perspectives of research on polonica kept in the Russian National Library (former Imperial Public Library) in St Petersburg, the foremost library of the country. The term ‘polonica’ encompasses manuscripts created up to the mid-16th century either in Poland or elsewhere but kept in Polish collections or featuring a text written either by or with a Polish author, or concerning Poland. Although the research has so far covered only a fraction of the collections of the Russian National Library, it has yielded 19 identified polonica. They supplement the list of 49 items known from Polish and Russian inventories, studies and records from the Manuscripta.pl database. The codices presented in the article deal with a vast range of issues related to theology, philosophy, astrology, medicine, morality, pastoral, law, history and the art of war; they also provide the text of monastic rules. The authors of the article characterise their content and cognitive value, outlining new avenues fur future research on St Petersburg polonica.

    Opis:
    The author analyzes the philosophical thoughts outlined by Ibn Ḥazm in his Al-Aẖlāq wa-ʾl-Siyar treatise. Apart from friendship, love, social relationships, the complexity of human characters and the diversity of life attitudes, the one issue discussed in the treatise first and foremost is the meaning and significance of human life. The Arab philosopher refers to all these issues as a rationalist despite ultimately presenting a clearly religious-oriented position. His ethical views are rooted not only in a religious (Muslim) tradition, but also in that of classical philosophy, reflecting a particularly strong convergence with the ethics of the Stoics and Aristotle.
    Der Artikel setzt sich zum Ziel, die im Traktat Al-Aẖlāq wa-ʾl-Siyar von Ibn Hazm dargestellte Philosophie zu untersuchen. Der Autor äußert sich in dieser Schrift über die Fragen der Freundschaft, Liebe, der zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen in der Gesellschaft, über die Komplexität der menschlichen Charaktere und die Vielfalt der Lebenshaltungen. Jedoch die wichtigste der behandelten Fragen ist der Sinn und die Bedeutung des menschlichen Lebens. Der arabische Philosoph nimmt Stellung zu allen diesen Fragen als Rationalist, obwohl er letztendlich einen klar religiös orientierten Standpunkt repräsentiert. Seine ethischen Anschauungen und seine Moralistik sind nicht nur in der religiösen (muslimischen) Tradition verwurzelt, sondern auch in der Tradition der klassischen Philosophie, wobei sie besonders stark mit der Ethik der Stoiker und von Aristoteles übereinstimmen.
    Celem artykułu jest analiza filozofii zaprezentowanej w traktacie Al-Aẖlāq wa-ʾl-Siyar Ibn Ḥazma. W pracy tej jej autor omawia między innymi takie kwestie jak przyjaźń, miłość, relacje między ludźmi w społeczeństwie, złożoność ludzkich charakterów czy różnorodność postaw życiowych; najważniejszą z podjętych tam kwestii jest jednak sens i znaczenie życia człowieka. Do wszystkich tych zagadnień, mimo prezentowania ostatecznie stanowiska wyraźnie religijnie zorientowanego, arabski filozof odnosi się jako racjonalista. Jego poglądy etyczne i moralistyka zakorzenione są nie tylko w tradycji religijnej (muzułmańskiej), lecz również w tradycji filozofii klasycznej, wykazując szczególnie silną zbieżność z etyką stoików i Arystotelesa.

    Opis:
    The translation of Blaise Pascal’s „Pensées”, especially confrontation with this work on the stylistic and rhetorical level, is a challenge that calls for talent and workshop skills. Among the European translators of the work, we find an unknown author who had translated “Pensées” into Polish. The translation was found in the collections of the Library of the Theological Seminary in Sandomierz. The manuscript is likely to have been written among the Radom piarists in the second half of the eighteenth century. It was based on the Paris edition of “Pensées” in the so-called Port-Royal composition in its version after 1678 and before 1761. The style of the anonymous translator is not absolutely pure. On the one hand he writes briefly and with reticence, avoiding exaggerated ornaments. He clearly sought to render the style and model of Pascal’s sentence in his translation (his syntax and word order). It happens, however, that he gives in to moralistic persuasion and in some more difficult places he aspires to clarify the intentions of the French author, which leads to redundant repetitions. The poetic images preserved in the translation are not so plastic and suggestive as in the original. It seems that the translator fails to perceive in it some values that enrich the discourse and therefore he weakens their expression. In many places he depreciates also rhetorical ornamentation and withdraws the baroque style. His strategy of translation is therefore in the line of strictly eighteenth-century stylistic and rhetorical tendencies by which to shape expressions.
