Opis:
The article presents the results of a quantitative-qualitative study that examined the experiences of children and early childhood education teachers with multi-layered interactive materials in which augmented reality technology was implemented. The article also addresses issues related to support (MIEM) for selected cognitive processes of early childhood education students. The research was conducted within the framework of the Ministry of Education and Science's program titled: Pupil circles create innovation. The study involved 1153 early childhood education students between the ages of 7 and 10, as well as their teachers, who constituted a group of 41 early childhood education teachers. A triangulation of research methods was used in the study. For the group of students, a diagnostic survey method was used, for which a survey questionnaire was developed on the Kahoot platform and an in-depth interview using an interview questionnaire. For the group of teachers, a diagnostic survey method was used, for which a survey questionnaire was developed. The survey was implemented using the Computer Assisted Personal Interview technique on the Google Forms platform. On the basis of the conducted research, conclusions were developed in terms of the main objective of the research, which was: preliminary identification of the potential for using MIEM in the context of cognitive processes in early childhood education. The results of the research indicate that early childhood education students received the introduced innovation into the teaching process to a very positive degree. First of all, MIEM resulted in high motivation for learning. The result of which was a significant number of memorized messages contained in MIEM. It should also be added that this fact can have an impact on students' memory and perceptiveness. It can also be tentatively concluded that MIEM can have an impact on cognitive processes in particular on thinking and imagination. This conclusion follows directly from the type of technology that allows generating things previously difficult to visualize. In addition, the experiences of teachers who participated in the study indicate that MIEMs provide new opportunities for experimentation and interactive learning. According to the teachers, MIEMs make it possible to support the teaching and learning of nature, mathematics, as well as other subjects. Early childhood education teachers enthusiastically welcomed the use of AR, as well as seeing this technology as a solution to the problems of implementing the principle of viewability in early childhood education.

The use of children’s literature as a means of pedagogical therapy consists in an associative combination of thoughts, feelings, emotions that project the events invented by the authors into the sphere of spiritual and moral, intellectual and sensual, and social experience of an individual. Approaches to the selection and use of literary and fairy-tale content for solving problem situations in educational practices have been studied. The experience of using the creative heritage of Ukrainian children’s writer Oksana Ivanenko to resolve conflict situations in a society that threatens a happy childhood is presented. The use of improvisational dramatization of real situations embodied in the plot canvas of artistic works has been considered. The basis of the preparation of teachers for the creation of effective educational and therapeutic programs should be the principles of artistic and fantastic reflection of reality, which contributes to rethinking life experience, teaches to project one’s thoughts and feelings in a positive life-affirming direction. Conclusions: The basis of any effective educational and therapeutic program should be the principles of artistic and fantastic reflection of reality. The use of children’s literature for educational and therapeutic purposes stimulates the creativity of future teachers and students, contributes to rethinking life experience, teaches to project one’s thoughts and feelings in a positive life-affirming direction.

Opis:
The article presents an analysis and evaluation of research tools used in a pilot study of an image of Other created by third grade students. The image is tightly connected to determining children’s approach towards Others, for example by estimating their social distance to culturally distinct groups. The research was of mixed type containing both qualitative and quantitative methods. Furthermore, the article’s goal is to show the important question of how lower grade students view culturally distinct Others in a wider context of multiculturalism as a challenge for modern Polish education.

Opis:
Greater emphasis must be placed on activities that promote innovative teaching methods in early childhood mathematics education in Poland. Our classrooms offer algorithmic and rote teaching methods, depriving students of important elements of successful mathematics learning. The aim of this action research was to investigate the relationship between a classroom environment that allows for dialogue and discovery and young children’s input into problem solving. Teaching six classes of elementary school within one academic year gave the author the opportunity to examine how dialogic teaching combined with a growth mindset approach can transform the attainment of knowledge, understanding and skills of learners, and how modern practices like number talks, solving open-ended tasks and group work can unleash students’ potential and activate them as thinkers and reasoners. The results confirmed that students who are challenged and offered concept-based learning opportunities not only genuinely engage in their tasks, but also help each other with deeper understanding of the concepts. They can cooperate with teachers in the creation of a new classroom in which students’ voices are heard and discoveries take place.

Opis:
The paper deals with the issue of forest kindergartens as presented in the German concept of Waldkindergarten. This concept makes a new way of thinking about child pedagogy. These kindergartens are designed to support the child in its creative process along the fact to encourage the child to further explore the surrounding nature. These specific institutions might be regarded as an answer to the challenges of modern childhood, in which the child is exposed to a toxic environment. This very toxicity could be regarded also metaphorically as a pollution of the mind through media and technology.

Opis:
Contrary to appearances, childhood and adolescence are not only biological phenomena, but also something overtly historical. Thus, they can and must be considered in the context of democracy. The article is divided into four parts. First, the authors recall that in Greek paideia, childhood was hardly given thought and that it was only the Renaissance that saw changes to the concept of man, which led to crystallizing the concept of modern childhood and youth. The second section reconstructs the meaning of the terms “childhood” and “adolescence” in the views of Jean Jacques Rousseau. The theme of the third part is the historicity of childhood, adolescence and adulthood, which the authors discuss against the background of Neil Postman’s thesis about the disappearance of childhood and adulthood. In the fourth and final section, the authors attempt, first of all, to clarify what really is disappearing forever, and what remains despite transformations, and, secondly, to indicate the central issues in the relationship between childhood, adolescence, and democracy.

Opis:
The subject of the article is the experience of social exclusion present in five contemporary novels on childhood and adolescence spent in the Swedish folkhem, by Jonas Gardell, Lena Andersson, Mikael Niemi, Torbjörn Flygt and Susanna Alakoski. In the first part of the article I am discussing social exclusion as a term used in the debate about the Swedish welfare-state in crisis. The second part is an analysis of the literary texts, using a sociological perspective. I am focusing there on portraits of the children that are main characters in the novels, the children whose personal identity is being shaped in the shadow of the collective dream of a perfect society. Asking a question about the specifically Swedish character of those children’s sense of exclusion, I am referring to the words of the social democratic leader Per Albin Hansson, who in his speech of 1928, presented a vision of Sweden as a happy and fair common home (folkhem), in which there is no place for either favored citizens (“darlings”), or for second-class citizens (“stepchildren”).
