Opis:
The paper on European welfare regimes and policies presents common and shared features of the social development of the post-communist countries that are members of the EU today. This will provide a basis for an attempt to assess if there is a single regime for those countries that distinguishes them from the three classical (and later four) regimes of the Esping-Anderson classification, or if there is an affinity to one of those models en bloc, or if there is similarity to one of the regimes, but in a different way for each of the new EU members. This attempt will be made primarily on the example of Poland, but with salient references to other countries in the group. The basis of the thoughts presented here is that of a project on Diversity and Commonality in European Social Policies: The Forging of a European Social Model (Golinowska, Hengstenberg, Żukowski 2009). Considerations and analysis done in the paper lead into conclusions that social policy development in the new member states is characterized by a one social model distinguishing them differently than according to the Esping-Andersen classification, in spite of a some differences in the outcome of the social policy being pursued. Similarities are mainly of an institutional character, resulting from both the similar past and the similar challenges connected with the systemic transformation towards the democratic system and market economy. In the future this specificity may fade and integration within the EU will cause a Europeanization of social policy of member states, but now this process is not sufficiently advanced.

A finite-strain constitutive model of a superelastic NiTi shape memory alloy is proposed in this paper. Via backward Euler implicit integration scheme and the incorporation of material softening, the model is implemented into finite element code to reproduce a Lüders like deformation of a superelastic NiTi. The simulation results are in agreement with the experimental results, indicating that the constitutive model can reasonably predict the mechanical behavior of a superelastic NiTi. A parametric study further verifies that the magnitude of softening modulus has a significant effect on the stress-strain response and Lüders-like deformation of a superelastic NiTi.

Opis:
Background: Model transformations play a key role in Model-Driven Engineering (MDE). Testing model transformation is an important activity to ensure the quality and correctness of the generated models. However, during the evolution and maintenance of these model transformation programs, frequently testing them by running a large number of test cases can be costly. Regression test selection is a form of testing, which selects tests from an existing test suite to test a modified program. Aim: The aim of the paper is to present a test selection approach for the regression testing of model transformations. The selected test case suite should be smaller in size than the full test suite, thereby reducing the testing overhead, while at the same time the fault detection capability of the full test suite should not be compromised. Method: approach is based on the use of a traceability mapping of test cases with their corresponding rules to select the affected test items. The approach is complemented with a tool that automates the proposed process. Results: Our experiments show that the proposed approach succeeds in reducing the size of the selected test case suite, and hence its execution time, while not compromising the fault detection capability of the full test suite. Conclusion: The experimental results confirm that our regression test selection approach is cost-effective compared to a retest strategy.

Opis:
The problem of boundary layer flow and heat transfer of nanofluids over nonlinear stretching of a flat sheet in the presence of a magnetic field and chemical reaction is investigated numerically. In this paper, a new locally modified single-phase model for the analysis is introduced. In this model, the effective viscosity, density and thermal conductivity of the solid-liquid mixtures (nanofluids) which are commonly utilized in the homogenous single-phase model, are locally combined with the prevalent single-phase model. Similarity transformation is used to convert the governing equations into three coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. These equations depend on five local functions of the nanoparticle volume fraction viz., local viscosity ratio, magnetic, Prandtl, Brownian motion and thermophoresis functions. The equations are solved using Newton’s method and a block tridiagonal matrix solver. The results are compared to the prevalent single-phase model. In addition, the effect of important governing parameters on the velocity, temperature, volume fraction distribution and the heat and mass transfer rates are examined.

This paper proposes an approach that integrates UML 2.0 Activity Diagrams (UML2-ADs) and the communicating sequential process (CSP) for modeling and verifying software systems. A UML2-AD is used for modeling a software system, while a CSP is used for verification purposes. The proposed approach consists of another way of transforming UML2-AD models to CSP models. It also focuses on checking the correctness of some properties of the transformation itself. These properties are specified using linear temporal Logic (LTL) and verified using the GROOVE model checker. This approach is based on model -driven engineering (MDE). The meta-modeling is realized using the AToMPM tool, while the model transformation and the correctness of its properties are realized using the GROOVE tool. Finally, we illustrated this approach through a case study.

Opis:
We consider the problem of joint estimation of states and some constant parameters for a class of nonlinear discrete-time systems. This class contains systems that could be transformed into a quasi-LPV (linear parameter varying) polytopic model in the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) form. Such systems could have unmeasured premise variables, a case usually overlooked in the observer design literature. We assert that, for such systems in discrete-time, the current literature lacks design strategies for joint state and parameter estimation. To this end, we adapt the existing literature on continuous-time linear systems for joint state and time-varying parameter estimation. We first develop the discrete-time version of this result for linear systems. A Lyapunov approach is used to illustrate stability, and bounds for the estimation error are obtained via the bounded real lemma. We use this result to achieve our objective for a design procedure for a class of nonlinear systems with constant parameters. This results in less conservative conditions and a simplified design procedure. A basic waste water treatment plant simulation example is discussed to illustrate the design procedure.

Opis:
In most cases, bankruptcy models are based on financial indicators that describe the current condition or a certain area of financial health, such as profitability, indebtedness and so on, but they do not report on relevant past development. The main question of the research presented in this paper is whether information about past development could enhance the prediction accuracy of the bankruptcy prediction model. The aim of our research is to analyse the partial potential of financial indicators describing past development. Given that the threat of company bankruptcy is the result of a long-term process, the question arises as to whether it is possible to enhance the accuracy of a bankruptcy prediction model by using indicators monitoring the development of the company in the past. On a sample of 1,355 small and medium-sized Czech construction companies were taken into account during the period of 2011-2014. The study analysed two types of indicators - basic-form and change-form indicators. Basic-form indicators show the status of an indicator at a specific point in time; change-form indicators represent a modified base index of the basic-form ratio. The authors derived six different models for the purpose of comparing the two types of indicators. The authors used the method of stepwise discriminant analysis, both forward selection and backward elimination, to create the models. The accuracies of the resultant models were analysed using the methods of ROC curves and the Area Under Curve (AUC). The authors found that the model based solely on change-form indicators is not superior to the model based solely on basic-form indicators. However, the model using both types of indicators achieved a higher AUC in comparison with the models created with only one type of indicator.
W badaniu przeanalizowano dwa rodzaje wskaźników - wskaźniki w formie podstawowej i zmienionej.

Business Model Innovation Organizational Renewal
Industry Transformation
Opis:
With the new millennium and the hype of electronic business a new movement was created that still gains momentum: business model innovations. Deeply influenced by business informatics in the early years, business models and business model innovations became a pervasive part of our business life. Particularly business model innovations opened the door for a thinking far beyond product and process innovations. By considering new ways of designing value propositions, value-added architectures and sales modes (e.g. Timmers, 1998), business model innovations became an attractive option of recent innovation management and strategic management of the entrepreneurial kind as well. Especially small- and medium-sized entities (SMEs) found a new way to innovate without spending too much resources in uncertain investments. Once successfully implemented, business model innovations on the micro level drive organizational renewal and/or help in developing new businesses. More than that, business model innovations may change the ‘rules of the game’ in markets and trigger processes of industry transformation (Porter & Rivkin, 2000) on the macro level. Despite the considerable power of business model innovations, not every innovative business model is a ‘home-run’. Empirical evidence suggests (e.g. Freiling & Dressel, 2014) that sophisticated new business models promise ‘win-win’ constellations for both customers and suppliers, but face the problem of limited adoption in target markets. Insofar, the implementation goes along with numerous obstacles. Little is said about the root causes of these obstacles and the ways how to cope with these challenges. Many of the articles of this special issue address the background of business model innovations and open the door to new debates. This illuminates the rather inter-disciplinary nature of business model innovations that deal with different kinds of novelties for both suppliers and customers. Based on Schumpeter (1934), innovations may relate to products, processes, organizational modes as well as novel purchasing and distribution modes. These novelties are often interrelated and call for an over-arching frame. If well designed, business models can be such umbrellas and are, thus, useful elements of innovation and strategic management. More than that, they push forward the notion of systemic innovation as a core challenge for both strategic decision-making and innovation. The papers deal with both customers and suppliers, as innovation cannot be separated from adoption processes in markets. In this regard, some former background issues come to the fore in this special issue, such as the still under-researched role of emotions (cf. Straker and Wrigley, 2015) and the role of diversity of people (particularly in the light of different cultural backgrounds – cf. Harima and Vemuri, 2015). Innovating business models is among the priorities of leading companies in most recent times to keep a certain balance of value creation and value capture (Teece, 2010; Zott et al. 2011). While business model innovations require particular capabilities to develop new industry architectures (Jacobides et al., 2006; Freiling et al., 2008), business model innovation is a challenge that often returns to top positions of the management agenda. To change from one business model to another, however, is a different and often even more demanding challenge that is based on dynamic capabilities (Teece, 2007). By dynamic capabilities companies are able to sense and seize new business opportunities and to reconfigure the company. The bare existence of dynamic capabilities allows changing business models more proficiently and, thus, tapping the potential of new business opportunities (Müller and Vorbach, 2015). However, while business model innovations have played a role in the entire economy in recent years, there are contexts where these innovative moves find a very fertile background. Without necessarily excluding other companies, particularly young firms seem to belong to these settings. Insofar, entrepreneurship and business model innovations are closely linked. One reason for this may be that incumbents are locked in their everyday business, reinforced by specific investments, and do not find enough time to go substantially beyond that. Thus, they are prone to attacks based on innovative business models of start-ups that are in need of doing something new and different to start launching their solutions in target markets. Entrepreneurship practice is full of examples where new ventures translated a basic innovation into a business model innovation to ‘make’ a market (e.g. Facebook, Amazon, Cirque du Soleil). The multitude of different ventures is hard to describe exhaustively, if it is possible at all. In this regard, it makes a difference whether the ventures are profit-oriented or non-profit ones. Papers of this special issue deal especially with this question (Jokela and Elo, 2015; Balboni and Bortoluzzi, 2015). On a more pragmatic level, the question arises how to visualize the real nature of business models and how to plan and implement them. In literature, there is a huge variety of understandings – like Timmers’ (1998) model of three business model components, the Morris et al. (2005) six-element approach or the nine-component ‘business model canvas’ framework of Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010). In this special issue, many articles adopted the more fine- grained business model canvas approach that already penetrated business practice to some extent.

Opis:
In the article, we propose a new estimator of the hazard rate function in the framework of the multiplicative point process intensity model. The technique combines the reflection method and the method of transformation. The new method eliminates the boundary effect for suitably selected transformations reducing the bias at the boundary and keeping the asymptotics of the variance. The transformation depends on a pre-estimate of the logarithmic derivative of the hazard function at the boundary.

Opis:
The quality of predicted microstructural and mechanical properties in hot stamping simulations relies considerably on the material model. Many researchers studied the effect of the plastic deformation on the phase transformation of the most commonly used hot stamping steel 22MnB5, and proved that the deformation applied at high temperature promotes the formation of ferrite, pearlite and bainite. This behaviour has to be integrated into materials modelling. In this study, the effect of pre-strain on the phase transformation of the material is considered. The specimens are heated to austenitization temperature, isothermally deformed at 700°C, and quenched down to room temperature. The phase fractions and the temperature-dilatation behaviour obtained from the experiments are used to calibrate the material model. By using the experimental data obtained from dilatometer testing, the accuracy of the material model is evaluated. Additionally, an attempt to predict the results between the tested data points by using interpolation was made and compared with the simulation results.
