Opis:
Many real-time systems can be described as cascade space-state models of different orders. In this paper, a new predefined controller is designed using a Strongly Predefined Time Sliding Mode Control (SPSMC) scheme for a cascade high-order nonlinear system. The proposed control scheme based-on SMC methodology is designed such that the system states reach zero within a determined time prior to performing numerical simulation. Moreover, Fixed Time Sliding Mode Control (FSMC) and Terminal Sliding Mode Control (TSMC) schemes are presented and simulated to provide a comparison with the proposed predefined time scheme. The numerical simulation is performed in Simulink/MATLAB for the proposed SPSMC and the other two existing methods on two examples: second and of third order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SPSMC method. The trajectory tracking of the ship course system is addressed a san example of a second-order system. Synchronization of two chaotic systems, Genesio Tesi and Coullet, is considered as an example of a third-order system. Also, by using two performance criteria, a thorough comparison is made between the proposed predefined time scheme, SPSMC, and the two no predefined time schemes, FSMC and TSMC.

Opis:
Purpose: This paper aims to investigate the impact of arc stud welding (ASW) process parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AISI 316L stainless steel stud/plate joint. Design/methodology/approach: The weld performed using ASW machine. The influence of welding current and time on solidification mode and microstructure of the fusion zone (FZ) was investigated using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Microhardness and torque strength tests were utilised to evaluate the mechanical properties of the welding joint. Findings: The results showed that different solidification modes and microstructure were developed in the FZ. At 400 and 600 A welding currents with 0.2 s welding time, FZ microstructure characterised with single phase austenite or austenite as a primary phase. While with 800 A and 0.2 s, the microstructure consisted of ferrite as a primary phase. Highest hardness and maximum torque strength were recorded with 800 A. Solidification cracking was detected in the FZ at fully austenitic microstructure region. Research limitations/implications: The main challenge in this work was how to avoid the arc blow phenomenon, which is necessary to generate above 300 A. The formation of arc blow can affect negatively on mechanical and metallurgical properties of the weld. Practical implications: ASW of austenitic stainless steel are used in multiple industrial sectors such as heat exchangers, boilers, furnace, exhaust of nuclear power plant. Thus, controlling of solidification modes plays an important role in enhancing weld properties. Originality/value: Study the influence of welding current and time of ASW process on solidification modes, microstructure and mechanical properties of AISI 316 austenitic stainless steel stud/plate joint.

Opis:
Teleoperation robotic systems control, which enables humans to perform activities in remote situations, has become an extremely challenging field in recent decades. In this paper, a Model Free Proportional‐Derivative Slid‐ ing Mode Controller (MFPDSMC) is devoted to the syn‐ chronization problem of teleoperation systems subject to actuator dynamics, time‐varying delay, model uncer‐ tainty, and input interaction forces. For the first time, the teleoperation model used in this study combines actuator dynamics and manipulator models into a single equation, which improves model accuracy and brings it closer to the actual system than in prior studies. Further, the proposed control approach, called Free, involves the simple mea‐ surement of inputs and outputs to enhance the system’s performance without relying on any knowledge from the mathematical model. In addition, our strategy includes a Sliding Mode term with the MFPD term to increase system stability and attain excellent performance against external disturbances. Finally, using the Lyapunov func‐ tion under specified conditions, asymptotic stability is established, and simulation results are compared and provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed strategy.

In this paper, the usage of graphene transistors is introduced to be a suitable solution for extending low power designs. Static and current mode logic (CML) styles on both nanoscale graphene and silicon FINFET technologies are compared. Results show that power in CML styles approximately are independent of frequency and the graphene-based CML (G-CML) designs are more power-efficient as the frequency and complexity increase. Compared to silicon-based CML (Si-CML) standard cells, there is 94% reduction in power consumption for G-CML counterparts. Furthermore, a G-CML 4-bit adder respectively offers 8.9 and 1.7 times less power and delay than the Si-CML adder.

Opis:
The present paper describes a new architecture of a high-voltage solid-state pulse generator. This generator combines the two types of energy storage systems: inductive and capacitive, and consequently operates two types of switches: opening and closing. For the opening switch, an isolated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) was chosen due to its interesting characteristics in terms of controllability and robustness. For the closing switch, two solutions were tested: spark-gap (SG) for a powerful low-cost solution and avalanche mode bipolar junction transistor (BJT) for a fully semiconductor structure. The new architecture has several advantages: simple structure and driving system, high and stable controllable repetition rate that can reach 1 kHz, short rising time of a few nanoseconds, high gain and efficiency, and low cost. The paper starts with the mathematical analysis of the generator operation followed by numerical simulation of the device. Finally add a comma the results were confirmed by the experimental test with a prototype generator. Additionally, a comparative study was carried out for the classical SG versus the avalanche mode BJT working as a closing switch.

Tekst pokazuje w ten sposób wizję swoistego rozproszonego autorstwa, o mniejszym stopniu reżyserskiej kontroli względem powstającego dzieła, w również jego recepcji.
The article is an attempt to examining again the three first movies of Andrzej Wajda: Generation, Canal and Diamonds and Ashes, regarding archival protocols and production issues more then strict artistic or auteur factors. The inspiration was both production culture perspective and New Historicism of Stephen Greenblatt. The text shows how many additional factors played decisive role in realising those classical movies and how much the movies were connected with plays for cultural power and dominance in those historical reality. In effect we can observe specific kind of dispersive authorship in which film authors hasn’t full control on the final effects of the movie, for example its social impact and audience reception.

The aim of this study was to assess the innovation risk for an additive manufacturing process. The analysis was based on the results of static tensile tests obtained for specimens made of photocured resin. The assessment involved analyzing the measurement uncertainty by applying the FMEA method. The structure of the causes and effects of the discrepancies was illustrated using the Ishikawa diagram. The risk priority numbers were calculated. The uncertainty of the tensile test measurement was determined for three printing orientations. The results suggest that the material used to fabricate the tensile specimens shows clear anisotropy of the properties in relation to the printing direction.

Opis:
Heart rate is constantly changing under the influence of many control signals, as manifested by heart rate variability (HRV). HRV is a nonstationary, irregularly sampled signal, the spectrum of which reveals distinct bands of high, low, very low and ultra-low frequencies (HF, LF, VLF, ULF). VLF and ULF components are the least understood, and their analysis requires HRV records lasting many hours. Moreover, there are still no well-established methods for the reliable extraction of these components. The aim of this work was to select, implement and compare methods which can solve this problem. The performance of multiband filtering (MBF), empirical mode decomposition and the short-time Fourier transform was tested, using synthetic HRV as the ground truth for methods evaluation as well as real data of three patients selected from 25 polysomnographic records with a clear HF component in their spectrograms. The study provided new insights into the components of long-term HRV, including the character of its amplitude and frequency modulation obtained with the Hilbert transform. In addition, the reliability of the extracted HF, LF, VLF and ULF waveforms was demonstrated, and MBF turned out to be the most accurate method, though the signal is strongly nonstationary. The possibility of isolating such waveforms is of great importance both in physiology and pathophysiology, as well as in the automation of medical diagnostics based on HRV.

For optimum fusion splicing process of a photonic crystal fiber, the collapsing of the air holes at any photonic crystal fiber is the key point of either increasing or decreasing the total splice loss. In this paper, an experimental study has been carried out to investigate the relation between total splice loss or total fiber attenuation due to splice loss and the length of the collapsed region of the air holes. This is done by splicing ESM-12B photonic crystal fiber between two equal lengths of single mode fibers and measuring the attenuation at different arc times and arc powers. The results showed that the increase in the length of the collapsed air holes region results in higher loss, therefore, higher fiber attenuation.

Opis:
The central theme of this work was to analyze high aspect ratio structure having structural nonlinearity in low subsonic flow and to model nonlinear stiffness by finite element-modal approach. Total stiffness of high aspect ratio wing can be decomposed to linear and nonlinear stiffnesses. Linear stiffness is modeled by its eigenvalues and eigenvectors, while nonlinear stiffness is calculated by the method of combined Finite Element-Modal approach. The nonlinear modal stiffness is calculated by defining nonlinear static load cases first. The nonlinear stiffness in the present work is modeled in two ways, i.e., based on bending modes only and based on bending and torsion modes both. Doublet lattice method (DLM) is used for dynamic analysis which accounts for the dependency of aerodynamic forces and moments on the frequency content of dynamic motion. Minimum state rational fraction approximation (RFA) of the aerodynamic influence coefficient (AIC) matrix is used to formulate full aeroelastic state-space time domain equation. Time domain dynamics analyses show that structure behavior becomes exponentially growing at speed above the flutter speed when linear stiffness is considered, however, Limit Cycle Oscillations (LCO) is observed when linear stiffness along with nonlinear stiffness, modeled by FE-Modal approach is considered. The amplitude of LCO increases with the increase in the speed. This method is based on cantilevered configuration. Nonlinear static tests are generated while wing root chord is fixed in all degrees of freedom and it needs modification if one requires considering full aircraft. It uses dedicated commercial finite element package in conjunction with commercial aeroelastic package making the method very attractive for quick nonlinear aeroelastic analysis. It is the extension of M.Y. Harmin and J.E. Cooper method in which they used the same equations of motion and modeled geometrical nonlinearity in bending modes only. In the current work, geometrical nonlinearities in bending and in torsion modes have been considered.

Opis:
Established complexity measures typically operate at a single scale and thus fail to quantify inherent long-range correlations in real-world data, a key feature of complex systems. The recently introduced multiscale entropy (MSE) method has the ability to detect fractal correlations and has been used successfully to assess the complexity of univariate data. However, multivariate observations are common in many real-world scenarios and a simultaneous analysis of their structural complexity is a prerequisite for the understanding of the underlying signal-generating mechanism. For this purpose, based on the notion of multivariate sample entropy, the standard MSE method is extended to the multivariate case, whereby for rigor, the intrinsic multivariate scales of the input data are generated adaptively via the multivariate empirical mode decomposition (MEMD) algorithm. This allows us to gain better understanding of the complexity of the underlying multivariate real-world process, together with more degrees of freedom and physical interpretation in the analysis. Simulations on both synthetic and real-world biological multivariate data sets support the analysis.
