    Code-switching or a mixed code? The present situation of the old believers' bilingualism in the Suwałki–Augustów region Old Believers’ in the Suwałki–Augustów region constitute a bilingual community. They simultaneously use the Polish language and the Russian dialect. We observe numerous cases of code-switching, i.e. intersentential switches and functionally meaningful intrasentential switches between two languages (between clauses or phrases in a clause), as well as code-mixing, i.e. switches inside simpler units. According to Peter Auer, the phenomenon of code-mixing may bring to the origin of a fused lect. The text is an attempt to describe the present situation of the Polish Old Believers’ bilingualism and answer the question if their dialect has already become a mixed code. The analysis is basing on the linguistic and sociolinguistic material gathered during scientific expeditions to the Old Believers’ settlements in North-Eastern Poland in the years 1999–2011. Актуальная ситуация билингвзма старообрядцев в сувальско-августовском регионеСтарообрядцы в сувальско-августовском регионе образуют двуязычную общину. Они попеременно пользуются польским языком и русским диалектом. В их речи наблюдаются многочисленные случаи переключения кодa, т.е. смены языка высказывания между предложениями, на стыке придаточных предложений и других функционально значимых синтаксических единиц, а также смешение кодов, т.е. смены языка внутри меньших единиц. Согласно положениям П. Ауэра, смешение кодов может привести к образованию смешанного кода (fused lect). Данная статья является попыткой определить состояние билингвизма польских старообрядцев, а также дать ответ на вопрос о возможном образовании смешанного кода на основании русского говора. Анализ опирается на языковые и социолингвистические данные, собранные во время научных экспедиций в старообрядческих местностях северо-восточной Польши в 1999–2011 гг.

    Bilingual code-mixed (hybrid) languages have become very popular in India as a result of the spread of technology in the form of television, the Internet, and social media. Due to this increase in the use of code-mixed languages in day-to-day communication, the need for maintaining the integrity of the Indian languages has arisen. As a result of this, a tool named Hinglish to Pure Hindi and English Translator was developed. The tool is capable of translating in three ways; namely, Hinglish into pure Hindi and English, pure Hindi into pure English, and vice versa. The tool has achieved an accuracy of 91% in giving Hindi sentences and of 84% in giving English sentences as output when the input sentences were in Hinglish. The tool has also been compared with another similar tools.

    Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird dem sprachlichen Mischcode, dem Ethnolekt Rechnung getragen. Nicht nur die sprachlichen Abweichungen des Ethnolekts dem Standarddeutschen gegenüber, sondern auch dessen Vorläufer, historische Bedingungen samt ihren linguistischen Manifestationen werden hier aufgegriffen und näher beleuchtet.
    The subject of this paper is a mixed variant of German which arose in large urban agglomerations with participation of mixed youth, indigenous German youth and youth of German lineage. The text outlines historical phenomena, and also linguistic theories which underlie and account for the diversity of mixed code with regard to the standard language.

    The Internet of Things (IoT) and mixed reality are now among the most important areas in research or in practice. The aim of this paper is to propose an appropri‐ ate way of connection of these two areas, where is pos‐ sible to control and monitor mechatronic devices using a mobile device with augmented/mixed reality support. The main task will be to explore these options in the area and implement this solution as prototype. The proposed methodology for control and diagnostics of mechatronic devices is modern as it combines hardware management, Unity engine for mixed reality development, and commu‐ nication within the IoT network.

    Ponašymu – the mixed language code of Těšín SilesiaThis article describes the development of the linguistic situation in the border region of Těšín Silesia throughout its history, with particular emphasis on the so-called ponašymu – a mixed language code used in the Czech part of the region. It is based on a random combination of forms of the traditional Těšín dialect with the standard Czech language and, to a lesser extent, elements borrowed from the Polish and Slovak languages and from neighbouring Moravian dialects. An important element of the study is the analysis of selected material collected by the author during fieldwork in August 2018. Ponašymu – mieszany kod językowy czeskiego Śląska CieszyńskiegoArtykuł opisuje rozwój sytuacji językowej w pogranicznym regionie Śląska Cieszyńskiego na przestrzeni dziejów, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tzw. ponašymu – mieszanego kodu językowego używanego w czeskiej części regionu. Oparty jest on na dowolnym łączeniu form tradycyjnego śląskiego dialektu cieszyńskiego ze standardowym językiem czeskim i w mniejszym stopniu elementami zapożyczonymi z języka polskiego, słowackiego i sąsiednich gwar morawskich. Ważnym elementem pracy jest analiza wybranych materiałów zebranych przeze mnie w trakcie badań terenowych w sierpniu 2018 r.

    In the article the subject of attention is the comm unication strategies of pupils in schools with Polish as the language of instruction in the Czech part of Cieszyn Silesia. The pupils know more than one language code – at a minimum, th e local dialect, Polish and Czech, and they alternating between these codes in linguistic communication daily. The article presents excerpts from interviews with these pupils conducte d by the authors (and researchers), in which the causes, methods and consequences of such specific communication strategies are revealed. The main triggers of code changes were found to be mainly changes of conversation topics and changes in the language of communication partners. The article also touches upon other issues: the conceptualization of the wor ld through traditional dialect, the utility of dialects in the contemporary world of technological, scientific and cultural progress and the emergence of mixed supranational spoken languages, etc.

    When looked at from the modern reader’s perspective, the “MarriageTable”, which is one of the elements of the so-called Haustafeln (household codes), is a quite difficult passage. This is more so since there are a few ofthem in the New Testament (Eph 5,22-6,9; Col 3,18-4,1; Tit 2,1-10 and 1 Pet2,13-3,7). The main difficulty that one encounters while reading them is thatthey stress a lower status of women, expressed in the idea of “subjection”.The “Marriage Table” in 1 Pet 3,1-7, which is examined in the article, addstwo aspects to the aforementioned interpretational problem: the religiousdiversity of spouses (mixed marriages) and, following it, violence. Numerouspreachers accept a literal interpretation of the text, arguing that a woman ina marriage with an aggressive husband should endure the violence. A contextualand intertextual reading, however, leads us to discover that the heroicact of sacrifice for the sake of the husband’s conversion is not obligatory,but should be treated as an act of free will. Therefore a woman’s voluntarysubmission as well as her being a victim of aggression for a greater goodcan subscribe to an idea of agape which Paul mentions in the “MarriageTable” of Eph 5,21-33.

    The author postulates that as a consequence of introducing in the Act of 20 February 2015 the institution of simultaneous adjudication of imprisonment and restriction of liberty, the legislator should repeal Art. 87 of the Criminal Code. According to Art. 87 § 1 of the C.C., in the case of conviction for concurrent offences for penalties of deprivation of liberty and restriction of liberty, the court shall impose an aggregate penalty, assuming that one month of restriction of liberty is equal to 15 days of deprivation of liberty. The sequence of penalties introduced in Art. 37b of the C.C. undermines the purpose of Art. 87 § 1 of the C.C. Since the legislator introduced a new concept of sequential execution of penalties, he should not preserve the obligation to convert restriction of liberty into imprisonment.
    Wprowadzając reformą z dnia 20 lutego 2015 r. możliwość jednoczesnego orzeczenia kar ograniczenia wolności i pozbawienia wolności, ustawodawca powinien konsekwentnie uchylić art. 87 Kodeksu karnego nakazujący w razie skazania za zbiegające się przestępstwa na kary pozbawienia wolności i ograniczenia wolności wymierzenie obligatoryjnie kary łącznej pozbawienia wolności. Przewidziane w art. 37b k.k. sekwencyjne wykonanie kar dezaktualizuje ratio legis unormowania art. 87 § 1 k.k. Skoro bowiem ustawodawca uznał za słuszną ideę kolejnego wykonania obu kar, nie powinien utrzymywać obowiązku zamiany kary ograniczenia wolności na karę pozbawienia wolności przy karze łącznej.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest nowatorskie w polskim porządku prawnym rozwiązanie przewidziane w art. 37b k.k., wprowadzone obszerną ustawą nowelizującą prawo karne z dnia 20 lutego 2015 r., zmodyfikowane następnie ustawą z dnia 11 marca 2015 r. Ujęta w art. 37b k.k. złożona konstrukcja prawna, którą określono terminem „kara mieszana”, stwarza możliwość jednoczesnego orzeczenia wobec sprawcy przestępstwa dwóch kar, tj. krótkoterminowej kary pozbawienia wolności i kary ograniczenia wolności. O ile doktryna jest w pełni zgodna w kwestii uznania, że art. 37b k.k. stanowi instytucję sądowego wymiaru kary, o tyle zasadnicze rozbieżności związane są z charakterem tzw. kary mieszanej (określanej niekiedy terminem „sankcja sekwencyjna”). Prezentowane jest stanowisko, że przyjęte rozwiązanie tworzy jedną, ujmowaną całościowo tzw. karę mieszaną, stanowiącą formę reakcji karnej, składającą się z dwóch kar. Tego rodzaju zapatrywanie prezentuje autorka tekstu. Wyrażany jest także pogląd, że art. 37b k.k. stwarza możliwość jednoczesnego wymierzenia dwóch kar, które zachowują swoją autonomię. W opracowaniu autorka poddaje analizie złożoność konstrukcji prawnej kary mieszanej, omawia cele i funkcje nowej formy reakcji karnej, założenia kryminalno-polityczne, zasady i dyrektywy wymiaru kary mieszanej. Przedmiotem rozważań są także zagadnienia sporne, dotyczące m.in. warunkowego zawieszenia wykonania kary pozbawienia wolności, orzeczonej na podstawie art. 37b k.k. w pierwotnym brzmieniu i po zmianach.
    The article discusses an innovative in the Polish legal order solution envisaged in Article 37b of the Criminal Code introduced by the Act of 20 February 2015, which is a extensive amendment to criminal law, amended again by the Act of 11 March 2015. A complex legal construct laid down in Article 37b CC, called “mixed penalty”, allows simultaneous imposition of two penalties on the crime perpetrator, i.e. a short-term imprisonment sentence and a penalty of limitation of liberty. While the doctrine is fully compliant with respect to recognising that Article 37b CC constitutes an institution of judicial imposition of a penalty, there are basic differences connected with the nature of the mixed penalty (sometimes described as “a sequential sanction”). A position is presented that the adopted solution creates one, treated as a whole, mixed penalty that is a form of penal response composed of two types of punishment. The author shares this opinion. There is also a stand that Article 37b CC makes it possible to adjudicate two penalties, which are autonomous. The author analyses the complex legal construct of the mixed penalty, discusses the aims and functions of the new type of penal response, criminal policy assumptions, and principles and directives governing a mixed penalty imposition. The article also discusses controversial issues concerning, inter alia, conditional suspension of the execution of a penalty of deprivation of liberty adjudicated in accordance with Article 37b CC before and after the amendment.
