Opis:
Prioritizing climate change mitigation measures could help to identify most feasible or most nationally appropriated mitigation actions. This process can also provide important inputs for the development of national climate change strategies or policies. The paper applies Delphi method to prioritize criteria for potential climate change mitigation technology in the metallurgical sector in Vietnam. The consultation process has been done with ten experts in only two cycle to reach Kendall (W) value over 0.5. Then, 11 out of 21 criteria have been selected for Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) in prioritizing mitigation options in iron and steel, lead, zinc, tin and aluminium productions. Mitigation options with highest scores will be proposed for mitigation target of the metallurgical sector which could be inputs for NDC of industrial sector. The selected criteria include 01 indicator in emission reduction (GPT1), 01 indicator in environmental impacts (MT1), 01 indicators in social impacts (XH3), 02 indicators in economic impacts (KT1, KT2), 02 indicators in sustainable development impacts (PTBV1, PTBV2) and 04 indicators in MRV (MRV1, MRV2, MRV3, MRV4).
W artykule, zastosowano metodę Delphi do priorytetyzacji kryteriów dotyczących potencjalnej technologii łagodzenia zmian klimatycznych w sektorze metalurgicznym w Wietnamie. Proces konsultacji został przeprowadzony z 10 ekspertami w zaledwie dwóch cyklach, aby osiągnąć wartość Kendalla (W) powyżej 0,5. Następnie 11 z 21 kryteriów zostało wybranych do analizy decyzji wielokryterialnej (MCDA) w ustalaniu priorytetów opcji łagodzenia w produkcji żelaza i stali, ołowiu, cynku, cyny i aluminium.

Opis:
The surface water temperature in the Baltic Sea has been growing as a consequence of broader changes of the Earth’s climate, which contributes to the proliferation of natural bacterioplankton and new types of bacteria, such as Vibrio vulnificus, in the region. This pathogenic bacterium finds optimal conditions for growth primarily in warm brackish waters. Places particularly vulnerable to these bacteria include shallow Baltic coastal waters where the proliferation of Vibrio strains increases in summer. The growing temperature of coastal waters boost this phenomenon, posing a serious threat to human health and the coastal Baltic tourism. The BaltVib project implemented by marine microbiologists investigates the impact of the so-called “system engineers”, e.g. mussels, macroalgae, and seagrass, on the diversity and abundance of vibriosis. The research should help to develop strategies to mitigate the problem of excessive populations of vibriosis through nature-based solutions. In addition to environmental and health issues, public awareness of the phenomena and future threats are equally important and these are also addressed in the project. The article presents results of a survey conducted on the Polish coast involving 140 respondents interviewed concerning their awareness of the increasing population of pathogenic vibriosis. The survey helped to diagnose how local residents perceive the threat to human health posed by Vibrio vulnificus now and in the future, as well as possible impacts these bacteria might have on economic use of the coastal waters. The survey also investigated the level of acceptance for various methods used to mitigate negative environmental changes.

Opis:
The paper presents different examples of existing and planned system of Gdańsk Agglomeration's bypasses, localised mostly in suburban landscapes. It shows not only the potential threats for the suburban landscapes caused by construction and operation of new roads, but also the chances of improvements in the landscapes of chosen places and areas. Detailed description of environmental, visual and cultural impacts is presented for every chosen example. One of tools, which regulates problems with the landscape quality management, is Environmental Impact Assessment procedure (EIA). It is obligatory by law for all planned activities that might seriously affect the environment. That also includes major roads changing the quality of suburban landscape. Systematic and interdisciplinary approach realised by EIA ensures the proper assessment of landscapes' values and threats, to see technical, environmental, cultural, visual, social and economic problems not in isolation, but in their mutual relations. It helps to make a decision on most desired shape of a future development, including new road systems. It is especially important in the areas, where many different circumstances have to be taken into account, and the problem is to consider in a complex manner advantages and threats, and to compare strong and weak aspects of space, to ensure the best choice. ElAs may be helpful in avoiding and minimising negative impacts, but also in promotion, exposure, and better access to natural and cultural heritage of objects and areas, as well as in better management of their surroundings. Under some conditions, the road construction in suburban areas may open up new opportunities for the sustainable city development. This thesis has been illustrated by proposal of mitigation measures given for chosen cases.

Opis:
Wildlife passages are an important tool to reduce negative effects of transport infrastructure on habitat connectivity and animal population viability. The aim of our study was to evaluate the use of two underpasses by medium-sized mammals. Both underpasses are situated in the area of the Rogów Forests, Central Poland, one of which is located under a road and the other under railway tracks. We used camera traps to monitor every wildlife crossing between February 2016 and December 2017. Four wild mammal species (roe deer, brown hare, red fox, martens) as well as domesticated cats and dogs were registered in the vicinity of the road underpass. Except for roe deer, the underpass was used (i.e. animals entered) by all of the listed species. The underpass was mainly used by brown hares in spring and by wild as well as domestic carnivores in autumn. Brown hares used the underpass mostly between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., while foxes, cats and dogs at night. Near the underpass of the railway track, roe deer, wild boar, brown hare, red fox, raccoon dog, European badger, martens, European polecat as well as domestic dogs and cats were observed. Only wild boar and brown hare never entered the underpass. Roe deer used the underpass in May-June and September, wild carnivores in spring and dogs in summer. Only dogs used the underpass round the clock with roe deer, foxes, badgers and racoon dogs frequenting it at night. Domestic carnivores used both passages more often compared to wild mammals. Both underpasses were also heavily used by humans mostly in spring and at daytime. The usage of the underpasses by wildlife was strongly seasonal which could be related to increased animal locomotory acti- vity, i.e. during rut, dispersal of young. Furthermore, wild animals used the underpasses at night, when humans were less active indicating that human activity might have influenced the usage of the underpasses by wild mammals.
