    Current research explored the link between beliefs about the mind, the soul, and the moral status (MS) of humanoid robot (HR). Determining the conditions for the assignment of MS to artificially intelligent agents is important from the point of view of their inclusion in the moral community. The indication of the role of beliefs about the mind and the soul is consistent with the tendency to distinguish these two incorporeal entities observed in folk psychology. In an online study, participants (N = 223), who believed in the existence of the mind and the soul, assessed the MS of the HR Sophia and assigned attributes to it; based on this, two dimensions of the mind perception (MP) were distinguished: Experience and Agency. As expected, we found that the participants attributed the mind more than the soul to the robot, and these projections significantly affected the MS of the robot. Path analysis revealed that the dimensions of MP acted as a mediator in the mind-MS relationship, while the soul-MS relationship was direct. The analysis of the obtained results leads to a more general conclusion that the soul attribution is a diverse and parallel condition to the mind attribution in individuals.

    One distinct interest in self-knowledge is an interest in whether one can know about one’s own mental states and processes, how much, and by what methods. One broad distinction is between accounts that centrally claim that we look inward for self-knowledge (introspective methods) and those that claim that we look outward for self-knowledge (transparency methods). It is here argued that neither method is sufficient, and that we see this as soon as we move beyond questions about knowledge of one’s beliefs, focusing instead on how one distinguishes, for oneself, one’s veridical visual memories from mere (non-veridical) visual images. Given the robust psychological and phenomenal similarities between episodic memories and mere imagery, the following is a genuine question that one might pose to oneself: “Do I actually remember that happening, or am I just imagining it?” After critical analysis of the application of the transparency method (advocated by Byrne [2010], following Evans [1982]) to this latter epistemological question, a brief sketch is offered of a more holistic and inferential method for acquisition of broader self-knowledge (broadly following the interpretive sensory-access account of Carruthers [2011]). In a slogan, knowing more of the mind requires using more of the mind.

Dennett, Gilles Fauconnier, Mark Turner), autorka kształtuje podstawy dydaktyki mentalnej, odtwarza tropy związane z mechanizmami poznawczymi w dydaktyce polonistycznej (Maria Nagajowa, konstruktywizm, nowe media) oraz wskazuje takie pola aktywności nauczycielskiej wrażliwe na kształtowanie myślenia, jak: interpretacja, retoryka, kultura dyskusji i ćwiczenia percepcyjne, prowadzące do odsłonięcia qualiów. Zaproponowana w artykule „dydaktyka mentalna” oznacza zintegrowane kształcenie myślenia, percepcji, uwagi i systemu wartości.
    Starting from the contemporary determinants of changes in the field of mental operations, such as the transcultural nature of the world and neuroscientific concepts of mind (Francisco Varela, Daniel C. Dennett, Gilles Fauconnier, Mark Turner), the author shapes the foundations of mental didactics, recreates clues related to cognitive mechanisms in Polish language didactics (Maria Nagajowa, constructivism, new media), and continues to present such fields of teaching activity sensitive to shaping thinking as: interpretation, rhetoric, discursive manners and perceptual exercises, leading to the exposure of qualia. “Mental didactics” proposed in the article means integrated training of thinking, perception, attention and value system.

    Celem artykułu jest prezentacja przykładowych rozwiązań w zakresie wizualizacji dźwięku w krajobrazie na mapach „dźwiękowych”. Badania oparto na analizie literatury naukowej i źródeł internetowych oraz ankiecie przeprowadzonej w 2014 r. wśród studentów Uniwersytetu Marii Curie Skłodowskiej (UMCS) w Lublinie. Badanie ankietowe, w którym poproszono o zobrazowanie w dowolnej formie krajobrazu dźwiękowego konkretnego miejsca, a następnie jego opisanie i ocenienie wykazało, że wizualizacja w formie rysunku jest łatwiejsza. Wizualizacja krajobrazu dźwiękowego okazuje się przydatna w dziedzinie projektowania akustycznego na potrzeby rewitalizacji akustycznej. Szczególnie użytecznym narzędziem w zakresie wizualizacji są Geograficzne Systemy Informacyjne (GIS). Wizualizacja dźwięku w krajobrazie na mapie może okazać się ważnym wkładem geografów w badania krajobrazu dźwiękowego. Jednak żadne graficzne wyobrażenie dźwięku w formie linii czy krzywizn nie może zastąpić jego zmysłowego doświadczenia w konkretnym miejscu i czasie.
    The aim of the work is to present some example on visualising sound in landscape on sound maps. The paper is based on the analysis of literature, websites and questionnaire survey conducted in 2014 among the students of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. Students were asked to visualise, in any form, the soundscape of a selected place and then describe and appraise it. It turned out that visualisation in the form of a drawing was easier because people could relate to the perspective it showed. A visualisation of soundscape proves useful for the purposes of acoustic design in acoustic revitalisation. Particularly useful tool in visualisation is GIS. The visualisation of soundscape can become an important contribution of geographers to soundscape studies. However, no visual depiction of sound, in the form of a line or curve, can be a real substitute for the sensual experience of sound at a specific time and place.

    The history and theory of art have often shown, before the era of neurobiology, cognitive psychology and cognitive science, that great artists are unconscious neurobiologists, activating with their art the areas of the brain of recipients that cause aesthetic experience, and using in their works the principles of perception or optical illusions, unknown to ordinary mortals, and sometimes also to creators at the level of consciousness. The following considerations are intended to approximate and, to some extent, to rehabilitate and save film creators and theoreticians who are being forgotten, the ones who, long before the discoveries of the cognitive sciences, considered theoretically and carried out empirical experiments aimed at showing and explaining the mysteries of human perception and the influence of the film on the viewer. I will present the profiles of the two pioneers of pre-cognitive thought on the basis of film studies: Hugo Münsterberg and Lew Kuleszow. I will show that half a century before neuroscientific research, they dealt with the cognitive processes of human cognition. I will present the contemporary state of cognitive sciences to illustrate the pioneering and legitimacy of visions, intuitions and achievements of the above creators, who are underestimated and forgotten by time and the achievements of “cold” science, although neuroesthetics researchers who have been involved in the problem of perception of works of art and rehabilitation of the merits of the past in the area of neuroscience for some time cannot be denied their achievements. Ignoring their contribution and achievements in the science of cognition, especially as to this day they are continued in research laboratories, in my subjective opinion, equals the potential underestimation of Leonardo da Vinci’s contribution to medical science or Darwin’s to research emotions.

    Der Artikel bildet einen Versuch, über den epistemischen Wert der sinnlichen Erfahrung nachzudenken. Indem ich als Beispiel den Begriffsinhalt der Wahrnehmung bei John McDowell nehme, versuche ich nachzuweisen, dass die von Wilfrid Sellars ausgeübte Kritik des Empirismus nicht vollständig den Sinn der Idee einer fundamentalistischen Epistemologie verneint. Ich glaube damit, dass es möglich ist, den Wert der Wahrnehmung in der Rechtfertigung des Wissens nach der Umformulierung des Entwurfs der sinnlichen Erfahrung zu rehabilitieren. Wenn wir nämlich die Idee des Begriffsinhalts der Wahrnehmung und ihre Folgen in Gestalt von potentieller Propositionalität des Erfahrungsinhalts annehmen, gelingt es uns aufzuzeigen, dass die Wahrnehmung ein rationales (und nicht ausschliesslich kausales) Verhältnis mit den Überzeugungen des Subjekts eingehen kann. Dies rechtfertigt hingegen die Ideen der fundamentalistischen Epistemologie von einer äusseren und epistemisch wertvollen Grundlage des Wissens.
    The author reflects on the epistemic value of perceptual experience. Quoting John McDowell’s conceptual content of perception as an example, he argues that Wilfrid Sellars’ criticism of empiricism is not tantamount to negating the meaningfulness of the epistemological foundationalist idea entirely. He concludes that rehabilitating the value of perception in justification of knowledge is therefore possible after reformulating the notion of perceptual experience. For by accepting the idea of conceptual content of perception and its consequence in the shape of a potential propositional content of experience it could be proved that perception can be engaged in a rational (and not only causal) relationship with a subject’s beliefs. And that justifies the epistemological foundationalist idea that knowledge has indeed an external and epistemically valuable footing.
    Artykuł jest próbą refleksji nad epistemiczną wartością doświadczenia zmysłowego. Biorąc za przykład pojęciową treść percepcji Johna McDowella, staram się wykazać, że krytyka empiryzmu dokonana przez Wilfrida Sellarsa nie neguje całkowicie sensowności idei fundacjonalistycznej epistemologii. Uważam tym samym, że możliwe jest zrehabilitowanie wartości percepcji w uzasadnieniu wiedzy po przeformułowaniu koncepcji doświadczenia zmysłowego. Jeżeli bowiem przyjmiemy ideę pojęciowej treści percepcji oraz jej konsekwencję w postaci potencjalnej propozycjonalności treści doświadczenia, uda się nam wykazać, że percepcja może wchodzić w racjonalny (a nie wyłącznie przyczynowy) stosunek z przekonaniami żywionymi przez podmiot. To zaś uzasadnia idee fundacjonalistycznej epistemologii zgodnie z którymi, wiedza posiada zewnętrzne oraz epistemicznie wartościowe ugruntowanie.

I consider exceptional in this context the work of Roman Opalka (Opałka 1965 /1 - ∞), Natalia LL's recordings (Permanent recordings of time), Zdzislaw Jurkiewicz's Saturn and Jupiter Ways, and the projects by Stanisław Dróżdż (FROM TO) that touch upon various levels of time. In the presented analyses, I refer to the psychological and philosophical concept of perception and aperception, as well as an anthropological understanding of time. In my view, conceptual art is the genre whose characteristics lie in the conscious cognition and deep intellectual analysis of the reality surrounding the artist.
