Opis:
The aim of the article is to analyze the phenomenon of dehumanization, understood as denial of traits belonging to the human species during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship in Argentina. The phenomenon is discussed on the example of the Naval School of Mechanical Engineering (Escuela de Mecánica de la Armada, ESMA) in Buenos Aires – one of the largest secret detention centres during the dictatorship, where enemies of the regime and suspected subversives were kept. The first part of the article covers theoretical reflection on the phenomenon of dehumanization in social psychology. The second part presents the ideological grounds for dehumanization of the regime’s enemies, as well as specific dehumanization strategies. The third part is an analysis of functioning of the ESMA, being an example of shifting from the ideological-discursive dehumanization to the level of political practice.

In this article I focus on the significance of the concept of “ideological frontiers” in Argentine foreign policy during the last military dictatorship 1976–1983. The paper is a case study of the covert operations in Central America carried out by the military and intelligence services of the dictatorship. The Argentine activity in Central America serves as an example of practical application of the above-mentioned ideological concept. Firstly, I present the idea of “ideological frontiers” and its significance during the last military dictatorship. Secondly, I present the external factors that made the Argentine military increase their interest in Central America at the end of the 1970s. Subsequently, I analyse the covert activities of Argentine military and intelligence, both before and after the triumph of the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua. Additionally, the question of the cooperation between Argentina and the United States in Central America during the presidency of Ronald Reagan will be discussed. The conclusions summarize the arguments presented in the article, emphasizing the importance of the concept of “ideological frontiers”.Argentina, Central America, military dictatorship, ideological frontiers, foreign policyIn this article I focus on the significance of the concept of “ideological frontiers” in Argentine foreign policy during the last military dictatorship 1976–1983.

The research its about women’s photojournalistic coverage which reflect by a certain logic that can be considered producers of non-regulatory frameworks of a political and social real- ity. These are frameworks that somehow break with what would be authorized by the ruling state, according to the thinking proposed by Judith Butler (2015). The epistemological perspective of Gender Studies and the theoretical basis of Women's History contribute to for this reflection, which focuses on two historical periods marked by censorship and hostility: the Brazilian military dicta- torship (1964 - 1985), a time when the curtailment of civil society rights was established, falling very heavily on the country's press; and the period comprising the presidential mandate of Jair M. Bolsonaro (2018-2022). It was an episode in recent history that recalls characteristics of the 1970s, such as the encouragement of authority, conservatism and violence. Throughout the discus- sion, excerpts from four interviews are presented, one of which (Beth Cruz) came from a more extensive study using Oral History methodology (Schmitt, 2022), which allowed us to observe that certain photographic experiences operate as a kind of resistance to the image that has been done and continues to be constructed about the country. In addition, we present accounts by Gabriela Biló, Elvira Alegre and Nair Benedicto. All the interviews was collected from academic publications available online: the first two are from university laboratories and the third from a scientific journal. It is believed that the images produced by these women can be seen as a way of challenging images that have become icons of certain political periods and that are still in constant dispute for the position of "true" history.

Powstały w czasach argentyńskiej dyktatury wojskowej i stający w obronie praw człowieka społeczny ruch Matek z Placu Majowego obchodzi w tym roku 40 lat czynnej działalności aktywistycznej.
Mothers of the May Square, a social movement which emerged during the Argentinian military dictatorship, is celebrating its 40th anniversary of activism this year. Therefore, the following article offers a brief summary of the trajectory of the organisation’s development, starting from the historical context which led to its birth, followed by the analysis of its ideological transformation and ending with the explanation of its present day situation. The author also invites to consider the Mother’s function in shaping the identity of the Argentinian women by undermining the traditional division of social roles based on gender, as well as poses a question about the validity of including the Mothers among the so called women’s social movements

The article intends to analyze the support given by Brazilian state diplomacy to the internationalization of the country's construction companies during the period of the business-military dictatorship installed with the 1964 coup. To this end, we used specialized magazines of the period, press, memoirs of businessmen and diplomats, speeches and official documents as sources. We analyzed in different sections the process of internationalization of construction companies during the Brazilian dictatorship, the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the regime and the role of diplomacy in favor of the performance of Brazilian contractors abroad. We concluded that during the regime, Itamaraty underwent improvements in order to boost and support the performance of Brazilian exporting companies that operated outside the country, which was part of a broader process of modernization and updating of the Brazilian capitalist state, which forged the advent of a business order in the country in the period.
