    The article presents the results of research on milestones (significant events, critical points, and crystallizing experiments) in the course of life of outstanding mathematicians and mathematically talented adolescents. The work covers the period of approximately the last 80 years. Four distinct group of mathematicians had received their education and pursued their scientific careers at that time: - The late, distinguished professors of mathematics, - Distinguished professors of mathematics who are still alive, - PhD students and doctors of mathematical faculties, - Laureates of mathematical olympiads. The author's intention was to indicate the milestones - key events and moments in their history determined by the author (or those indicated by those interested) to reach the highest position and recognition in the field of mathematics. Those are, for example, important experiences in a person's life that played a huge role in choosing mathematics as a direction for further development or reasserted that mathematics is the right choice. The considerations were based on a holistic, humanistic approach and a biographical approach from the perspective of Charlotte Bühler (1999). The techniques that have been used include document analysis and narrative interviews. According to the recommendations of Ch. Bühler results were presented graphically on the timelines. The information that is interesting and at the same time important from the point of view of mathematical education and the development of mathematical abilities is that some milestones are timeless. It is crucial to properly support children in developing their talents from an early age. Each of the respondents told about the people that were significant in his or her life. However, one can observe the fact that scientific authorities are becoming less and less important. The respondents from the group of distinguished PhDs and PhD students (apart from only one researched) did not mention scientific authorities who directed their mind towards mathematics, when speaking about the milestones in their lives. Trips abroad and scientific internships were much more important. Another important issue is the age of starting a scientific career. The starting point was the date of the first, signifcant publication, as mentioned by the researcher himself. Among the late, distinguished professors and outstanding professors living, it happened when they were between 20 and 30 years old. Unfortunately, no PhD student or fresh PhD graduate mentioned the outstanding work published at that time. Cognitive psychology tells us, however, that young people, due to the stages of intellectual development, can carry out the greatest mathematical discoveries.

    This paper presents a Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) settled by contractual milestones. The criterion analysed here is the maximisation of aggregate discounted cash flows from the contractor´s perspective, known as an RCPSP problem with Discounted Cash Flows (RCPSPDCF). The cash flows analysed here cover the contractor´s cash outflows (negative cash flows), related to the commencement of individual activities, and cash inflows (positive cash flows) after the fulfilment of individual milestones. The authors propose a two-phase algorithm for solving the problem defined. In the first phase, the simulated annealing metaheuristics is used, designed to identify a forward schedule with as high total DCF as possible. In the second phase, the best first-phase schedule is improved by right shifts of activities. To this end, the procedure which iteratively shifts tasks by one unit is applied, with a view to maximising the objective function. Activity shifts take into consideration precedence and resource constraints, and they are performed for a specified resource allocation to activities. This paper also includes an analysis of the problem for a sample project. The results of computational experiments are then analysed. The experiments were run with the use of standard test problems from the Project Scheduling Problem LIBrary (PSPLIB), with additionally defined cash flows and contractual milestones.

    The paper discusses the problem of robust buffer allocation for Resource- Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) with predefined milestones(1) , for which execution deadlines have been established. To solve the problem, an algorithm is proposed supporting insertion of unit time buffers, with the simultaneous maximisation of new metrics of arrangement robustness. The presented results of experimental research speak for usability of the solutions proposed. The effectiveness is studied with use of test tasks(2) included in the Project Scheduling Problem Library (PSPLIB) with additionally specified project milestones.

    The article presents the resource-constrained project scheduling problem with the maximisation of discounted cash flows from the contractor’s perspective: with cash outflows related to starting individual activities and with cash inflows for completing project stages (milestones). The authors propose algorithms for improving a forward active schedule by iterative one-unit right shifts of activities, taking into account different resource flow networks. To illustrate the algorithms and problem, a numerical example is presented. Finally, the algorithms are tested using standard test problems with additionally defined cash flows and contractual milestones.

    The article comprises three case studies which, over a few years, have been the source of experiences and observations involving pupils diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome attending a non-public grammar school in Warsaw.Each study presents the story of an actual person and a unique personality. Each story required a different clue. In the case of each of the three pupils one can find milestones, breakthroughs, successes and difficulties. Each of the children, who all arrived with a similar medical certificate, is very different from the oth-ers. Observing them enables one to assess when they feel safe and comfortable at school, in what conditions they discover opportunity to develop their skills and interests. Those three stories illustrate how to build an open community, a com-munity in which children with Asperger’s can feel comfortable alongside both their exceptionally gifted and completely average peers.
    Niniejszy artykuł to trzy studia indywidualnych przypadków, na podstawie których zostały przedstawione, na przestrzeni kilku lat, doświadczenia i obserwacje funkcjonowania uczniów ze zdiagnozowanym zespołem Aspergera, w ogólnodostępnym, niepublicznym gimnazjum w Warszawie. Każda z tych historii jest historią konkretnej osoby, niepowtarzalnej indywidu-alności. Do każdej z nich trzeba było „dopasować nieco inny klucz”. W każ-dej z różnych historii konkretnych uczniów można zobaczyć kamienie milowe, punkty przełomowe, sukcesy i trudności. Każde z tych dzieci, które przyszły z orzeczeniami brzmiącymi bardzo podobnie, jest zupełnie inne. Przyglądając się konkretnym osobom, można odpowiedzieć na pytanie, kiedy w ogólnodostępnej szkole uczniowie ci czują się bezpiecznie, odnajdują szansę na rozwój swoich zdolności i zainteresowań. Na podstawie tych trzech historii pokazano, jak można budować otwartą społeczność, w której potrafią się odnaleźć dzieci z zespołem Aspergera obok uczniów wybitnie zdolnych i całkiem przeciętnych.

    Inspiracją do napisania przez autorkę artykułu były badania i artykuł Anny Eugenii Wesołowskiej, ukazujący drogi edukacyjne w rodzinie na przykładzie pięciu pokoleń. Autorka podjęła się również próby analizy dróg edukacyjnych i życiowych z uwzględnieniem wydarzeń przełomowych w jednej konkretnej rodzinie, ale sięgając do piątego pokolenia wstecz. Z analizy biografii badanej rodziny wynika, że była to rodzina bardzo liczna, najstarsze wspomnienia i sięgają połowy XIX wieku. Znaczącą rolę w historii tej rodziny odegrała edukacja. Nastąpił wzrost ambicji edukacyjnych, kolejne pokolenia podnosiły swoje wykształcenie i zdobywały lepszą pracę, poprawiał się ich status ekonomiczny i społeczny. Zmianom uległy również w badanej rodzinie, na przestrzeni lat, wykonywane zawody, zainteresowania. Powodem tych zamian był pojawiający się czas wolny, a także rozwój cywilizacji, pozwalający na większy i swobodniejszy wybór ciekawych zajęć. Przykład analizowanego przypadku rodziny może być również propozycją dydaktyki biograficznej.
    The author was inspired to write the article because of the research and one of the articles of Professor Anna Eugenia Wesołowska, that shows the paths of education in a family on the example of five generations. The author has also undertaken an attempt at analysing the educational and life paths including milestone events in one particular family, going as far as the fifth generation in the past. The analysis that stems from their biography proves that it was a very large family, the oldest memories date back to the mid-nineteenth century. Education had a significant meaning for this family. We can notice an increase of educational ambitions, the next generations kept improving their education and got better jobs. Their economic and social status was also improved. Over the years, changes were also observed in the area of professions and interests of the studied family. The reason for these changes can be seen as a result of the occurrence of free time, as well as of the development of civilization, allowing for freedom of choice among interesting activities. The example of the family case under analysis could also be a proposal for biographical didactics.

    The paper analyses the problem of discounted cash flow maximising for the resource-constrained project scheduling from the project contractor’s perspective. Financial optimisation for the multi-stage project is considered. Cash outflows are the contactor’s expenses related to activity execution. Cash inflows are the client’s payments for the completed milestones. To solve the problem, the procedure of backward scheduling taking into account contractual milestones is proposed. The effectiveness of this procedure, as used to generate solutions for the simulated annealing algorithm, is verified with use of standard test instances with additionally defined cash flows and contractual milestones.

    Artykuł przedstawia problem harmonogramowania projektu z ograniczonymi zasobami z maksymalizacją zdyskontowanych przepływów pieniężnych z perspektywy wykonawcy. Jako przepływy finansowe związane z projektem rozpatrywane są wydatki wykonawcy związane z wykonywaniem zadań i płatności klienta (wpływy dla wykonawcy) po zrealizowaniu umownych etapów prac.     The article presents the resource-constrained project scheduling problem with the maximisation of discounted cash flows from the contractor’s perspective. As the project’s cash flows contractor expenses (outflows) related to the execution of activities and client payments (inflows for contractor) for completed stages of the project are considered. To solve the problem, the proposed is modified justification technique taking into account milestones of the project.

    The article presents the problem of the financial optimisation of a multi-stage project from the contractor's perspective, where customer's payments are analysed as a cash inflow (contractor's revenues) after completing contractual stages and contractor's expenses incurred for the activities executed. In order to solve the problem, priority algorithms are proposed: single-pass and multi-pass ones, using different priority rules and tech-niques for generating solutions dedicated to the investigated optimisation model. The article presents a comparison of the effectiveness of individual algorithms in the case of adequately prepared test problems.

    Autorzy artykułu proponują w badaniach nad rozwojem rodzimej literatury dziecięcej i młodzieżowej koncepcję kamieni milowych, zaczerpniętą z międzynarodowych badań w tej dziedzinie (zwłaszcza ze studiów anglojęzycznych). Ta kwestia zostaje rozważona w odniesieniu do prozy i w kontekście nowoczesności (rozumianej jako formacja kulturowa). Jako dzieła literackie, które miały charakter przełomowy w pierwszej połowie XX w., zostają wskazane utwory Bolesława Leśmiana (Przygody Sindbada Żeglarza i Klechdy sezamowe; oba tomy wydane w 1913 r.), Janusza Korczaka (dylogia o Królu Maciusiu, 1923, Kiedy znów będę mały, 1925, oraz Kajtuś Czarodziej, 1934) i Jana Brzechwy (Akademia Pana Kleksa, 1946). Autorzy omawiają nowatorstwo treściowe i formalne tych utworów oraz ich wpływ na rozwój polskiej literatury dziecięcej i młodzieżowej.
    The authors of the article explore the concept of milestones in the research on the development of Polish children’s and young adult literature which has been derived from international, mainly English-language studies. This concept is given consideration with regard to prose and in the context of modernity understood as a cultural formation. The literary works which in the first half of the 20th century revealed a breakthrough character are exemplified by Przygody Sindbada Żeglarza [The Adventures of Sindbad the Sailor] and Klechdy sezamowe [Sesame Tales] by Bolesław Leśmian (both published in 1913), the King Matt duology (1923), Kiedy znów będę mały [When I Am Little Again] (1925), and Kajtuś czarodziej [Kaytek the Wizard] (1934) by Janusz Korczak and Akademia Pana Kleksa [Professor Inkblot’s Academy of Wonders] (1946) by Jan Brzechwa. The authors discuss the novelty of these works in terms of their content and form as well as their influence on the development of Polish children’s and young adult literature.

    The article presents the problem of scheduling a resource-constrained project with discounted cash flow maximization from the perspective of a contractor. The contractor's expenses (cash outflows for the contractor) are associated with the execution of activities. The client's payments (cash inflows for the contractor) are performed after fulfilling the agreed project stages. The following techniques are suggested for solving the problem: the activity right-shift procedure, the backward scheduling with the optimization of completion dates for the agreed project stages and the modified triple justification technique. The effect of these techniques of generating schedules is illustrated for an exemplary project. Finally, an experimental analysis of the proposed procedures is presented.

    W pracy przedstawiony jest problem harmonogramowania wieloetapowego projektu z ograniczonymi zasobami z maksymalizacją zdyskontowanych przepływów pieniężnych z perspektywy wykonawcy z uwzględnieniem interesów klienta. Jako ujemne przepływy finansowe rozpatrywane są wydatki wykonawcy związane z realizacją czynności. Dodatnimi przepływami pieniężnymi są etapowe płatności klienta, wykonywane w wysokościach równych niezbędnym wydatkom wykonawcy ponoszonym w następnym etapie projektu. Wykonawca nie może realizować czynności, jeśli nie otrzyma środków finansowych od klienta. W pracy zilustrowany jest proponowany sposób ustalania etapowych rozliczeń między klientem a wykonawcą. Następnie zaprezentowana jest metoda generowania rozwiązań dedykowanych dla analizowanego problemu: technika justyfikacji uwzględniająca etapy projektu.
    The paper presents the problem of scheduling a multi-stage project with limited resources with the maximization of discounted cash flows from the perspective of the contractor, taking into account the client's interests. The contractor's expenses related to the execution of activities are considered as negative cash flows. The positive cash flows are staged client payments, made in amounts equal to the necessary expenses of the contractor incurred in the next stage of the project. The contractor may not execute activities if he does not receive funds from the client. The paper illustrates the proposed method of establishing staged settlements between the client and the contractor. Next, the method of generating solutions dedicated to the analyzed problem is presented: the justification technique taking into account the project stages.
