Miniaturyzacja urządzeń i wdrażanie nowych technologii stwarzają konieczność stosowania małych przekrojów przewodów, stąd też rosną wymagania i zapotrzebowanie związane ze stosowaniem mini- i mikrokanałów.
Miniaturization of devices and implementation of new technologies create the necessity of application of small cross-section conduits, hence requirements and demand associated with the use of microchannels is growing. Flow and heat transfer models developed and validated for macrochannels do not account for phenomena relevant in microchannels, and the difference increases with decreasing dimensions characterizing the flow and methods of surfaces machining. In this paper examples of microdevices and the effect of macro and microelement surface roughness on devices performances were presented.

Opis:
In order to achieve a high yield and quality of apple fruit, more effective ways of fertilization are required in the modern, high density apple orchards. The objective of this research was to determine the efficiency (partial nutrient balance, PNB) of different methods (foliar and fertrigation) and forms (chelates and salts) of microelements application in relation to the levels of N fertilization in apple orchard cultivar (‘Golden Delicious’). The combined effects of these fertilizers on the number of apple fruits per tree and on the yield per tree were also studied. Foliar application of Mn, Zn and Fe had significantly higher partial nutrient balance values compared to the soil application in both years of the experiment. However, most of the PNB values were below 10% indicating relatively low efficiency of the applied fertilizers with microelements.

The research was conducted in 2011-2012, at the Experimental Station in Lipnik near Stargard Szczeciński, on soil classified as Haplic Cambisol, with low useful water retention. The experiment was designed with a split-plot method and repeated seven times. Grass cover was maintained in the row middles while the area underneath the trees was kept as herbicide fallow. The trees were planted in 4x2 m spacing. The assessment concerned the influence of irrigation and NK fertilisation on the dry matter and chemical composition of cherry fruit from the cultivars Kelleris 16 and Łutówka. Micro-irrigation was used at water potential in soil lower than 0.01 MPa. According to agronomic recommendations, nitrogen fertilizers were applied in early spring and potassium fertilizers in autumn in the following doses: 0 NK (control, no fertilization), 1 NK – 80 kg.ha-1 (40+40), 2 NK - 160 kg.ha-1(80+80), according to agronomic recommendations. Ammonium nitrate containing 34% of nitrogen and potash salt containing 60% of potassium were used for fertilization. Observations of the irrigated trees showed an increase in the dry mass in their fruit, as well as a decrease in nitrogen, potassium and magnesium concentrations, but an increase in the amount of calcium. Chemical analyses of the fruit harvested from the trees fertilized with nitrogen and potassium demonstrated an increase in the analysed traits (macro- and micronutrients), at both 1NK and 2NK fertilization levels.

Opis:
Seaweed extracts have been recently introduced to crop growing, particularly to sustainable agriculture, in many countries worldwide. However, our knowledge of the action produced by Kelpak is only fragmentary as it is influenced by a number of factors, for example crop plant species and extract application schedule. Our objective was to determine the effect of Kelpak SL on the content of selected microelements in two grass species. A field experiment was arranged in a randomized subblock design (split-split-plot) with three replicates. It was conducted at the Experimental Unit of the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce (Poland) and started in late April each year. The following factors were examined: pure stands of two grass species Dactylis glomerata L. (cv. Amila) and Festulolium braunii (K.Richt.) A. Camus (cv. Felopa) grown in a monoculture, a biostimulant distributed under the trade name Kelpak SL, applied at 2 dm3 ha-1 (no biostimulant in the control treatment), and nitrogen applied at 50, 100, 150 kg ha-1 (no nitrogen in the control). During the experiment, grass was cut three times a year. The plant material was subjected to chemical analyses to assess dry matter (by determining the moisture content), zinc, copper, iron and manganese. The application of Kelpak significantly increased the Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn content in the grass species tested, regardless of the remaining factors. The grass species did not differ significantly in their content of Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn. The concentrations of the microelements in both species were significantly affected by a dose of nitrogen. At higher nitrogen doses, the concentrations of Zn, Cu and Fe were lower, unlike the content of Mn, which increased. The Fe:Mn ratio in the dry matter of both grasses was 2.79, which indicates some manganese deficiency.

The scope of genetic variation in concentrations of minerals in potato tubers and effects of mineral fertilizers application, pesticides, growth regulators on the mineral content and the relationships of these elements in potato tubers, was analyzed. The study discussed the phenotypic variation range determined by genetic and environmental variability. The hypothesis presupposes that increased yields generated either by the application of mineral fertilizers and/or the use of cultivars with higher fertility may lead to a reduction in the concentration of minerals in potato tubers, was verified in the study.

Opis:
The aim of this paper was to review 100 years of Polish studies on sulphur fertilisation and its effects on the growth and development of plants, the chemical composition and impact of sulphur compounds on the health of plants, and its fungicidal activity. In the reviewed studies sulphur deficiency generally delayed vegetative growth, caused the dying out of the growth cone, yellow discolouration of the generative and vegetative organs and delayed maturation. Observations of plants have demonstrated that sulphur is essential for normal photosynthetic functions. Plants suffering from a lack or shortage of sulphur had pale green or yellowish, narrow, short and small leaves, and a smaller than normal root system, which was associated with reduced chlorophyll synthesis. The availability of sulphur was found to enatil an improved uptake of nitrogen by plants, thus affecting their quality and optimising the N:S ratio. Fertilisation with sulphur increased the total content of sulphur and sulphates in plants. Findings from studies on the effect of sulphur on the content of macroelements in tested plants are inconclusive. Sulphur used in excess disturbed the ionic balance in plants and indirectly affected the intensity and level of uptake of other nutrients. The results of studies investigating the impact of sulphur on changes in the content of heavy metals were ambiguous and demonstrated either synergistic or antagonistic interactions. Generally, sulphur fertilisation increased the content of glucosinolates in plants and improved their nutritional value. Most studies also showed that sulphur fertilisation improved the disease resistance of plants. Some studies have also demonstrated an increased content of glucosinolates in plants fertilised with sulphur, which stimulated natural resistance to fungal infections.

Izolat pochodził z naturalnych siedlisk w Chorwacji. Zawierał symbiotyczne grzyby mikoryzowe (Glomus spp, Gigaspora spp, Pochonia spp, Lecanicillum spp), oraz bakterie korzeniowe (Bacillus spp). Gleba, na której przeprowadzono doświadczenie należy do gleb rdzawych typowych (Systematyka Gleb Polski 2011), według IUSS Working Group WRB (2015) klasyfikowana jest jako gleba brunatna wyługowana (Haplic Cambisol). Eksperyment został założony w układzie bloków losowych w 5 powtórzeniach (jeden krzak – jedno powtórzenie) z czterema odmianami krzewów rokitnika (Hippophaë rhamnoides L.). Doświadczenie obejmowało dwa czynniki: I – mikoryza: O – obiekty kontrolne, bez mikoryzy; M – obiekty z mikoryzą, II – cztery odmiany rokitnika: ‘Ascola’, ‘Habego’, ‘Hergo’ i ‘Leikora’. W pobranych z każdego poletka doświadczalnego (poletka mikoryzowane i nie mikoryzowane) próbkach gleby badano: pH, zawartość Corg., materii organicznej, makro- i mikroelementów.
In the years 2014-2015, at the ZUT Szczecin Experimental Station in Lipnik (53°20′35″N14°58′10″ E) a study was conducted to assess the impact of mycorrhizal fungi on selected soil properties and on the content of macro-and micronutrients in a sandy under gardening use. Mycorrhization was conducted with ectomicorrhizal mycelium, symbiotic for plants of the olive family. The isolate was obtained from natural ecosystems in Croatia. It contained symbiotic mycorrhizal fungi (Glomus spp, Gigaspora spp, Pochonia spp, Lecanicillum spp) and root bacteria (Bacillus spp). The soil on which the experiment was conducted belongs to the typical rusty soils group (CPS, 2011), classified as Haplic Cambisol according to IUSS Working Group WRB (2015). The experiment was conducted in the randomized block design in five replications (one shrub – one replication) with four varieties of sea buckthorn bushes (Hippophaë rhamnoides L.). The experiment included two factors: I – mycorrhiza: O – control treatments without mycorrhiza; M – treatments with mycorrhiza, II – four varieties of sea buckthorn: 'Ascola', 'Habego', 'Hergo' and 'Leikora'. Soil samples taken from each experimental plot (mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal plots) were used for the following assays: pH, Corg., organic matter, macro- and micronutrients. Mycorrhizal soil was characterised by a higher content of Corg., organic matter and N, P, Mg, Ca, Zn. The varieties differentiated the traits under study to a lesser extent than mycorrhiza. Based on the study it is not possible to determine univocally whether the changes in the soil under the influence of mycorrhiza are permanent, therefore it is necessary to continue the research.

Opis:
Sweet pepper belongs to vegetables with high biological value, characteristic taste and health-promoting features, which depend on the content of many elements with antioxidant capacity. Pepper fruits are an important source of mineral components for people. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different foliar feeding regimes with the use of calcium on the content of macro- and microelements in sweet pepper fruits. The experiment with the sweet pepper cultivar Caryca F1 was carried out under field conditions in 2010-2011. Various calcium preparations: Ca(NO3)2 , Insol Ca, Librel Ca, were applied in plant nutrition. The evaluated preparations were sprayed 3 and 5 times, in the concentration of 1%, until complete wetness of the plants. Control fields were sprayed with water. No significant influence of the examined factors on the dry matter content (%) was recorded in the fruits of cv. Caryca F1 sweet pepper cultivated in a field. However, the influence of the applied calcium preparations on the content of N-total, P, Ca, Fe, Zn, Cu in pepper fruits was shown to vary. After an application of Ca(NO3)2, higher concentrations of K, Zn, Cu were demonstrated; an application of Insol Ca stimulated a higher content of K and Cu; more K, Fe, Zn and Cu occurred in the fruit after feeding with Librel Ca, and the content of P was lower after an application of Insol Ca and Librel Ca, all versus the control. The different number of treatments did not have any significant effect on the chemical content of pepper fruits, except for Fe and Mn, where 5 treatments increased the content of these elements in pepper fruits. The positive influence of the applied calcium preparations and of the number of treatments on the accumulation of Ca in pepper fruits were proven. For example, 5 treatments were demonstrated to have increased the calcium content in fruits by an average 25.3%, and 3 treatments raised the above trait by 15.3% above the control.

Opis:
The research was carried out on a soil catena sequence, in three sections of river valleys: the Liwna and Guber rivers flowing through landscapes shaped by ice-dammed lakes on Sępopol Lowland, and the Łyna river in the morainic landscape of Olsztyn Lakeland. Along transects, from the upland edge towards the river bed, soil exposures were made, soil samples were collected, and the soil reaction, cation exchange capacity, content of organic carbon and total content of Ca, Fe, Mg, K, P, Na, Mn, Zn and Cu were analyzed. The soils of the landscape of ice-dammed lake origin contained more elements than the ones in the morainic landscape. In the catena, the highest cation exchange capacity and the highest content of macro- and microelements were determined in Histosols and Fluvisols. Among the studied Fluvisols, the highest content of Ca (19.5 g kg-1), Mg (12.60 g kg-1), Fe (41.92 g kg-1), Mn (691.38 mg kg-1) was found in the soils of the Guber catena, and the highest content of K (13.00 g kg-1), Na (0.60 g kg-1), P (3.20 g kg-1), Cu (55.90 mg kg-1), Zn (271.46 mg kg-1) was in the soils of the Liwna catena. The amounts of the elements (except Fe and Mn) were statistically positively significantly correlated with the amount of organic carbon as well as the silt fraction 0.05-0.002 mm (all elements) and clay fraction <0.002 mm (Ca, K, Na, Fe, Mn). Fluvisols and Histosols in river valleys, owing to their high accumulation capacity, play a very important role in the circulation of elements and strengthen the resistance of landscapes of ice-dammed lake origin and morainic hills to human activity.

Opis:
A possible way to maintain the right level of soil fertility involves using some waste as fertilizer, provided its composition does not violate the pertinent local safety standards. There is currently considerable interest in using meat industry waste, both raw and processed, e.g. meat and bone meal. An experiment on meat and bone meal (MBM) was conducted from 2007-2009 at the research station in Bałcyny (53°36′ N, 19°51′ E), Poland. The aim was to determine the effect of meat and bone meal (MBM) on the content of selected micronutrients in soil as well as in winter and spring wheat grain and in of winter oilseed rape seeds. The effect of MBM fertilizer applied at doses of 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 t ha-1 was compared with mineral fertilization or no fertilization. The experiment did not show any effect of the growing MBM doses on the concentration of micronutrients in soil. As a result of using higher doses of MBM (1.5, 2.0 t ha-1), the content of Cu in 2009 and of Zn in 2007 considerably decreased (2.0 and 2.5 t ha-1). Fertilization with MBM at 2.5 t ha-1 improved the quality of winter wheat grain by increasing the content of Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn. In most cases, the application of MBM increased the content of micronutrients in the grain of spring wheat and seeds of winter rape, although this has not always been confirmed statistically. An analysis of the micronutrient contents revealed a significant decrease in Zn and Fe in winter wheat grain and in Zn in winter oilseed rape seeds as the content of these elements in the soil increased. Regarding the relationship between the Zn content in soil and in seeds of winter oilseed rape, the coefficient of determination was the closest to the coefficient of linear correlation (R2 = 0.931). It was only in 2008 that an increase in the Cu content in winter oilseed rape seeds was determined to have increased parallel to an increase in the micronutrient content in soil. Although the chemical content of MBM implicates its good fertilizer value, the study failed to demonstrate a clearly defined impact of the increased MBM doses on the content of the analysed elements in the soil. This may be attributed to the increase in the bioavailable nitrogen forms, which constitute part of the sorption complex. Their bioavailability may also be subject to mutual relationships among elements, which may act antagonistically (Fe and Mn, Ca and Zn).
