Opis:: I am interested in the methodological and institutional status of (Christian) theology: what does justify its place in the number of academic disciplines? Is it only the community of inquirers (Ch. Peirce), that conventionally recognizes which type of knowledge and what kind of method is scientific? If so, then what does make the theologicality and scientificality of Christian theology? The theological work is conducted at least in two contexts: in the formation of the doctrine and in the research activity. When a theologian teaches, he does this in the name of the catholic Church which formally equips him with such a mission (venia legendi). It is important to distinguish between an idealized theology as an academic discipline and the multiplicity of different subjects and disciplines actually present in particular theological faculties. Clearly, any answer whether theology is epistéme (scientia) depends on the meaning of the words theology and science. One can match their senses so that the proposition: „theology is a science” will be analytically true or false. The epistemic and methodological peculiarity of theology manifests itself mostly in the way of justifying propositions (dogma) with premisses derived from the Christian Revelation. Thus in arguing for the presence of theology in the academic curriculum one has to take into account an aporia: the consequence of a strong accent on the methodological autonomy of theology would mean that its theories and propositions could be evaluated only „from inside” by insiders. But this again raises the question of objectivity and intersubjectivity of theological knowledge and of the presence of theology in the communitas scientiarum.

Opis:: Nauka o finansach jest wśród nauk ekonomicznych dyscypliną szczególną: z pewnego punktu widzenia najbardziej interesującą, najważniejszą, a zarazem najtrudniejszą. Chociaż do roli „królowej nauk” nieprzypadkowo aspirują filozofia, matematyka czy fizyka, to właśnie ekonomia, nie tylko zdaniem ekonomistów, jest „królową” wśród nauk społecznych, a nauka o finansach uważana jest, nie tylko przez finansistów, za „królową” wśród nauk ekonomicznych. Zaprezentowane studium jest próbą ukazania metodologicznego statusu nauki o finansach, jej specyfiki, paradygmatów i miejsca w systemie współczesnych nauk ekonomicznych. Nauka o finansach jest dyscypliną złożoną, z licznymi klasycznymi i nowymi subdyscyplinami. Ma silne związki z licznymi dyscyplinami ekonomicznymi i pozaekonomicznymi. Nauka o finansach, chociaż rozwijana jest od ponad 100 lat, może być z pewnej perspektywy traktowana jako nauka in statu nascendi.
The contemporary sciences of finances – the methodological status, structure, environment, paradigms The science of finances is a particular one among economic sciences: from a certain perspective the most interesting, the most important and at the same time, the most difficult. Though it is not without accident that philosophy, mathematics, physics also aspire to the role of “queen of sciences”, it is just economics that is considered “queen” among social sciences, and that not only by economists; the science of finances, on the other hand, is considered “queen” among economic sciences not only by financial experts. The present study attempts to show the methodological status of the science of finances, the differentia specifica of the discipline, the paradigms, and present its position in the system of contemporary economic sciences. The science of finances is a highly complex discipline, with many classical and new subdisciplines. It has strong relations with numerous economic and non-economic disciplines. The science of finances, although boasting an over hundred-year – old existence, from another point of view can be considered as an in statu nascendi science.

Opis:: The paper addresses the methodological status of Polish cultural studies. It consists of two parts: the first is factual and the second theoretical and methodological, reflecting on theses held by culture scholars on their own area with the use of general methodological knowledge. In the first part I give an account of the different names (nomenclature) for cultural studies and of the traditions they refer to. I point out disciplines that are included in cultural studies, giving examples of selected Polish cultural studies centers. In the second part, on the basis of methodology, I explicate the meaning of the methodological categories that culture scholars themselves consider adequate to a description and an explanation (an understanding) of the methodological status of cultural studies (such as notions of “scientific discipline”, “interdisciplinary studies”, “integration”, etc.). I note the incompatibility between the institutional status of cultural studies and their methodological status, and I point out some sources of the incompatibility and its consequences. Indeed, cultural studies were created as an academic discipline in Poland, but from the methodological point of view they are interdisciplinary rather than a separate discipline. The reasons for this can be found in the methodological criteria cultural studies fulfills and fails to fulfill and in the methodological self-consciousness of culture scholars themselves. I note that the emergence of cultural studies is an expression of the unifying tendencies in science. Therefore, the methodological self-knowledge of cultural studies should be developed by realizing how rich in aspects and dimensions the integration of the sciences phenomenon is, and consequently, how many types of interdisciplinary studies there are.
