Opis:
The following paper is an answer to a research question regarding the impact of retinal size (understood as the tangent of the object’s physical size and its distance from the subject) on mental transformations. A total of 182 people took part in three designed experiments, which included three types of operations: 1) synthesis as an operation changing the structure of the object; 2) rotation as an operation preserving the structure of the object; and 3) a combination of the two. The impact of retinal size on the course of rotation was confirmed. Furthermore, it turned out that this impact significantly influenced the effectiveness of all three mental operations. A tendency regarding the impact of physical size on synthesis was demonstrated (participants performed mental transformations in the most optimal way on 15 cm (5.9 in) objects – such that can be held in a hand in the real world). It was noticeable that the optimal distance to the object, preferred by participants, was 30 cm (11.8 in). In the real world, such a distance enables them to transform objects freely within arm’s reach. The obtained results support the analogousness of the mental world to the world in which we live.

Opis:
Aim. The research goal of this paper is to theoretically substantiate the feasibility of using Benjamin Bloom’s psychological and pedagogical model and its modifications in the adult learning system. Methods. The study used the methods of theoretical analysis, synthesis and modelling of the implementation options for Bloom’s techniques in the training of adults. Results and Conclusions. The analysis showed that the use of techniques based on Bloom’s taxonomy, modified for adult training, makes it possible to develop students’ skills and abilities to thoroughly and comprehensively analyse the problem, and to find creative, effective solutions. Such a sequence of task setting as “reproduction” (knowledge), “understanding” (comprehension), “application,” “analysis,” “evaluation,” and “creation” is proposed as a general scheme of various training for adults. In particular, an example of the design of training in developing communication skills and training in overcoming procrastination skills is given.

Opis:
The presented study brings to the professional discourse a view on the reflection of pre-primary teachers in two phases of their professional development. The level of reflection was ascertained in the period of their study at the Faculty of Education (24) and then after a year of work in a kindergarten (6). The author first considers the necessity to develop reflective thinking among pre-primary teachers, which she has based on existing findings in the area. She presents the reflective model (Korthagen, 2011; Píšová, 2005), which she used in her research. The remaining part of the text deals with the methodology of the research and the findings that resulted from the data analysis. The results show that aimed support directed at reflection helps to develop higher levels of cognitive thinking and also points to the connection with using more effective strategies in pre-primary education.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to present what the intuition is that occurs during communicative practice and gives us the immediate answer to different doubts and the immediate understanding of language structures without conscious reasoning and loading of the cognitive system. In the first part, we analyze different concepts of language intuition presented in lingusitic and foreign language acquisition. In the second part, a comparative analysis of automatic, controlled and intuitive processes is provided. We show that the distinction between operations that are automatic and those that are under control is a simplification and reduces the issue of foreign language acquisition. In the same part, we also argue for the use of intuition and suggest some indications favorable to implementation of this mental disposition.
