This article is aimed to analyze the link between internationalization and Meetings-, Incentives-, Conventions- and Exhibitions (MICE) industry which is refer to the destination development. A comprehensive review of the totality of the processes associated with the regional market of business tourism, allowed to develop a number of actual tools that make it possible to obtain important practical results. One of these tools is a so called public-private partnership (PPP), to strengthen the trust between government and business representatives on regional level. This article reveals the cooperation process between foreign private companies and the local government in organizing the development of the industry connected to MICE. This vision may help all parties connected to the MICE industry to achieve a new level of understanding of the business tourism destination as a result of internationalization processes.

Przewodnim celem niniejszego opracowania jest analiza oraz próba oceny rozwoju turystyki biznesowej w Polsce, zwłaszcza w Warszawie. Nieco bardziej szczegółową analizą objęto główne segmenty turystyki biznesowej, tj. konferencje i kongresy, wydarzenia korporacyjne oraz motywacyjne, a także targi i wystawy. W opracowaniu przedstawiono również ranking państw i miast świata pod względem liczby odbywających się spotkań międzynarodowych. Przodujące miejsca zajmują w nim USA oraz państwa Europy Zachodniej. Polska, w tym Warszawa, zajmują również relatywnie wysokie miejsca. Warszawa na tle innych polskich miast pełni wiodącą rolę w organizacji spotkań i wydarzeń biznesowych.
The main objective of the paper is the analysis and evaluation of business tourism development in Poland. The main focus of the analysis is on the business tourism in Warsaw and such segments of the business tourism as: conferences and congresses, corporation events, incentive trips, and fairs and exhibitions. The article also presents the city and country ranking by the number of the international meetings. The top countries in the ranking are USA and the Western Europe countries. Poland and Warsaw also had relatively high positions. Warsaw comparing with the other Polish cities plays the most important role in the field of business meetings organization.

Meetings are common in contemporary working life, but they are often overlooked in academic studies and sometimes defined as empty or boring by employees. Yet, the meeting society is being reproduced again and again. There seem to be hidden ways to incorporate meetings into today’s working life without arousing critique about pointless activities and deviations from what should really be done. One strategy was illustrated in a study of a transnational police project. Police culture celebrates visible crime fighting, which is associated with action, physical toughness, and capturing criminals. The police officers involved in the project emphasized the need to avoid “a lot of meetings,” but de facto constructed their project as meetings. Nonetheless, the project was declared a success. We analyze this paradox in terms of boundary work concerning meetings; the police officers turned some meetings into “real police work” by discursively and practically removing them from the category of bureaucracy and its associations with formalities, rigidity, and documentation. The most important example is how an “operational action group meeting” was renamed “power weeks,” eradicating the very word “meeting” from the term. This was closely associated with increased informality and multi-tasking during these gatherings.

W latach 2001-2013 w Polsce powstało kilkanaście organizacji Convention Bureau, zajmujących się promocją i marketingiem regionów pod kątem pozyskiwania spotkań biznesowych. Wielokrotnie impuls pojawił się przez zaangażowanie obiektów dziedzictwa kulturowego jako miejsc do organizacji konferencji. Celem rozważań jest pokazanie, że działania Convention Bureau wspólnie z obiektami pozwalają wzmocnić pozycję poszczególnych regionów turystycznych.
The Polish meetings and events industry is every year stronger and more important for local authorities. Regions without Convention Bureaux in Poland are more focused on bringing meetings to their regions and would like to improve the role of corporate events and associations congresses in particular regions. The collection of data from several Polish voivodeships proved that there is a possibility to host such events in the regions which were noticed as attractive before. Local heritage venues have conference facilities. Some of them are even conference hotels. The survey carried out among sixty unique venues from twelve voivodeships proves a huge potential and many possibilities for professional meeting planners. It should be noted that some numbers are first numbers ever collected from regions which soon will be discovered as meetings destinations.

The paper identifies selected determinants of attractiveness of international academic conferences as products on the contemporary international tourism market, especially on the business tourism market. To achieve this aim, methods of analysing the literature, reports, synthesis, along with passive and active observation were used. In addition, a direct survey using a research questionnaire via a website and addressed to participants on an Erasmus International Week in Kaunas was made. Some of the most important conditions of the attractiveness of the conference for participants, including transport and information accessibility as well as to the originality of the destination and the leisure program for participants, were indicated. Contemporary international academic conferences lasting a few days epitomize multiple products on tourism market. The article is empirical, but it also presents ideas for the development of conferences as attractive products in the contemporary economy of the European Union.

The article focuses on the issues of project control in Scrum methodology representing agile approach, in which control is based specifically on the daily meetings. Based on own experience and discussions with members of the Scrum development teams, in this study 19 core problems associated with daily meetings are identified and possible solutions are discussed. Then an environmental study is conducted to verify the classification of the problems and to determine the practical approach to daily meetings in IT companies. On the basis of the collected results, a brief assessment of the quality of daily meetings is provided, which depends on the Scrum team development stage.

The subject of the study is the minutes of meetings preserved in manuscripts from  thesecond half of the 19th century. The article describes factors associated with the stylistic multiplicity of these texts: a complex system of communication intentions, references toother genres, minutes-specific configuration of stylistic features. This is followed by a description of diverse origins of the used stylistic means, collision of stylistic registers, as well as the typical selection limits. The analyses lead to the conclusion that the scope of the nineteenth-century minutes of meetings stylistic multiplicity is: 1) predictable, determined by the situational and cultural context (society’s profile, its aims and functions, historical determinants); 2) limited, but clearly wider than the one resulting from the minutes stylistic appurtenance and one provided for the genre (as well as forthe sub-genre) by authors of contemporary normative studies.

In the paper the problem of user authentication participating in strategy meetings conducted in blended type (VM and F2F) is addresses. W artykule podjęto zagadnienie uwierzytelniania użytkowników biorących udział w spotkaniach strategicznych, realizowanych w formule mieszanej. W pierwszej części artykułu krótko scharakteryzowano spotkania strategiczne, realizowane w formule mieszanej, odnosząc się do rzeczywistej organizacji z branży IT. Druga część artykułu poświęcona jest metodom uwierzytelniania i podstawami oceny ich wydajności. Trzecia część dotyczy nowego podejścia związanego z uwierzytelnianiem użytkownika, uczestniczącego w spotkaniach w formule mieszanej.

The ongoing social changes reduce the significance of maternity and paternity. Fortunately there exist couples for whom the joy of conception and the expectance period for the child's birth are not dominated by consumptive, egoistic and hedonistic tendencies. The aim of the study is the presentation of an individual model of preparation of couples to maternity and paternity. A number of delivery schools conduct courses on preparation to maternity and paternity. However, a certain number of prospective parents want the education before, around and past the delivery to be organized as individual meetings. Family midwives decide on the individual course of classes basing on the curriculum of the delivery school, according to the assumptions of the national psychoprophylaxis. The role of a family nurse in individual preparation of couples to maternity and paternity is not only teaching but also giving inspiration to the prospective parents to individual verification of the gained knowledge and seeking for individual, optimal solutions. The effects of individual work of the family midwife are visible during home delivery.

Cel. Celem podjętych badań jest rekonstrukcja sposobów oddziaływania zebrania na tożsamość instytucjonalną (szkolną) rodziców. Celem szczegółowym – poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na pytanie: jakie strategie konwersacyjne występują podczas zebrania oraz jakie mogą być skutki stosowanych podczas zebrania strategii? Przedmiotem badań są strategie konwersacyjne występujące podczas badanych 22 zebrań z rodzicami klas I–III nagranych w latach 2017–2020. Materiały i metody. Badania prowadzone są metodą analizy konwersacyjnej (Silverman, 2009b; Perakyla, 2009). Szczególnie interesujące było to, co się wydarza „między” uczestnikami zebrania. Właśnie analiza konwersacyjna AC, zapoczątkowana przez Harveya Sacksa i jego współpracowników Emanuela Schlegloffa i Gaila Jeffersona, umożliwiła analizę interakcyjnego wymiaru zebrania. Dodatkowym argumentem za jej wyborem był fakt, że w badaniach instytucji ta perspektywa jest praktycznie nieobecna (Granosik, 2013). Przez pryzmat podejmowanej podczas zebrań z rodzicami tematyki zostanie dokonana rekonstrukcja strategii konwersacyjnych stosowanych w trakcie zebrania. Materiał badawczy stanowiły nagrania 22 zebrań z rodzicami. Wyniki i wnioski. Wyodrębniono wiodące tematy zebrania: osiągnięcia uczniów, wycieczki, wybory do rady rodziców, podpisy i opłaty. Zrekonstruowano pięć strategii działania profesjonalnego nauczycieli podczas zebrań: monologu nauczyciela, ironicznego nazywania uczniów, zobowiązywania rodzica do kontynuowania szkoły w domu oraz włączania rodziców w kwestie „gospodarcze” klasy i szkoły. W konkluzjach przedstawiono tożsamości instytucjonalne rodziców skonstruowane podczas konwersacji. Są to: rodzic jako widz szkolnego występu, rodzic całej klasy, zalękniony rodzic, rodzic w konflikcie (nie)lojalności wobec własnego dziecka, rodzic w roli ucznia, rodzic-pomocnik, rodzic jako niepotrzebny ekspert.
Aim. The purpose of the research I have undertaken on parent meetings is to reconstruct the ways in which the meetings affect the institutional (school) identity of parents. The specific goal is to seek answers to the question: what conversational strategies occur during the meeting, and what might be the effects of the strategies used during the meeting? Materials and methods. The research was conducted using the conversational analysis method (Silverman, 2009b; Perakyla, 2009). Through the prism of the topics taken up during meetings with parents, a reconstruction of the conversational strategies taken up during the meeting was made. Results and conclusion. The leading topics of the meeting were extracted: student achievements, trips, parent council elections, signatures, and fees. Five strategies of professional action of teachers during assemblies were reconstructed; the strategy of teacher monologue, the strategy of ironic naming of students, the strategy of obliging the parent to continually uphold the school at home, the strategy of involving parents in the “economic” issues of the classroom and school. The conclusions will present the institutional identities of parents constructed during the meeting conversation: parent as a spectator of the school performance, parent of the whole class, fearful parent, parent in a conflict of (dis)loyalty to their own child, parent in the role of students, parent helper, parent unnecessary expert.

Micro-learning within team meetings offers immediacy of knowledge application and integration into practice.  As a pedagogical method micro-learning has grown within workplace settings through being able to deliver small amounts of knowledge often, that is relevant, upskilling and applicable directly into practice.   With more meetings happening in the workplace than ever before leveraging learning opportunities has never been more important.  Learning opportunities have regularly been missed during team meetings due to competing priorities, information overload, lack of shared attention, divergent mental models and failure to identify learning needs.  This article covers one aspect of a PhD research project focused on learning in team meetings.  Discussion are two transactional analysis concepts delivered as micro-learning topics within team meetings and applied into practice.  The approach, findings and further considerations are presented.
Mikrolearning w ramach spotkań zespołowych zapewnia natychmiastowe zastosowanie wiedzy i integrację z praktyką. Jako metoda pedagogiczna, mikrolearning rozwinął się w miejscach pracy, ponieważ jest w stanie przekazywać niewielkie ilości wiedzy, która jest istotna, podnosi umiejętności i może być stosowana bezpośrednio w praktyce. Ponieważ więcej spotkań odbywa się w miejscu pracy niż kiedykolwiek wcześniej, wykorzystanie możliwości uczenia się nigdy nie było ważniejsze. Podczas spotkań zespołowych regularnie tracono możliwości uczenia się z powodu konkurujących ze sobą priorytetów, nadmiaru informacji, braku wspólnej uwagi, rozbieżnych modeli mentalnych i braku identyfikacji potrzeb edukacyjnych. W tym artykule omówiono jeden z aspektów doktoranckiego projektu badawczego, skoncentrowanego na uczeniu się podczas spotkań zespołowych. Dyskusję oparto o dwie koncepcje analizy transakcyjnej dostarczane jako tematy mikrolearningu podczas spotkań zespołu i stosowane w praktyce. Przedstawiono koncepcję, wnioski oraz dalsze rozważania.

During the pandemic of COVID-19 the work on projects that require team working has changed. The face-to-face meetings, with the physical presence of participants, were moved to virtual space, enforcing the change in the way of project partners’ communication. The aim of the paper is to indicate the risks in the area of transnational project collaboration resulting from replacing face-to-face meetings with virtual mobility, from the skills’ development perspective. The authors of the paper explain the mechanisms of transnational projects and present how the change of communication towards purely virtual mode may affect the development of skills needed in effective project collaboration and transcultural communication. The discussion is based on the review of the available literature on the challenges of global project teams, the instrumental case study combined with the analysis of statistical data on organisations’ participation in European Strategic Partnerships within Erasmus+ Programme and authors’ experience gained through participant observation of transnational meetings conducted in the period of 2018-2020. Project partners’ participation in face-to-face meetings fosters their personal development and contributes to effective transnational collaboration. The great variety of cognitive, personal, social and communicational skills that face-to-face meetings elicit, and thus contribute to the quality of transnational project team collaboration in the multicultural environment depend on physical presence and interaction of partners. Replacing real presence of project partners with their virtual attendance reduces chances for these skills to be developed and thus may negatively influence the quality of the project collaboration. Taking into account the value that the real presence of project partners brings to international partnerships as well as the development of project team members, it is worth considering, as soon as the pandemic situation allows it, returning to planning and organizing face-to-face international partnership meetings.

Opis:
A cinematographic journey to “the country of the last cannibals” in the light of post-colonial studies. The article is an attempt to analyse “Cannibal Tours”, a document by D. O’Rourke, an Australian director, filmed from a postcolonial perspective. Papua New Guinea, an island relatively isolated from the rest of the world, has interested researchers since the beginning of cultural anthropology. At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, when charter flights were first operated, a group of people looking for exoticism joined wealthy tourist from Western Europe and the United States, united by the myth of one of the last places on earth inhabited by cannibals. The director very interestingly captured the relations between the guests and the hosts, the impact of tourism on the local culture and the role of researchers in imaging the savage. While the document presents the reality of the 1990s, is continues to encourage reflection on who we are when we travel.

Artykuł zawiera krótki opis metod komunikacji, takich jak: wywiady, zebrania, sesje Lessons Learned, moderacja, ankiety, skrzynki pomysłów. Główną częścią artykułu są wyniki badań nad wykorzystaniem metod komunikacji. Autor rozwiązał problem badawczy poprzez realizację trzech zadań: kalkulację procentu firm wykorzystujących daną metodę komunikacji, kalkulację procentu firm wykorzystujących daną metodę komunikacji z określoną częstotliwością w ciągu roku, zbadanie czynników decydujących o częstości wykorzystania metod komunikacji. Autor badając czynniki wykorzystania metod komunikacji uwzględnił liczbę pracowników organizacji, stanowisko respondenta, dział organizacji, w którym pracował etc.
The article contains a short description of communication methods such as interviews, meetings, Lessons Learned sessions, moderation, surveys, ideas boxes . Research results about frequency of use of communication methods constitute the main part of the article. The author resolved the research problem through the realization of three tasks: the calculation of the percentage of companies using a given communication method, the calculation of the percentage of companies using given communication method with the certain frequency in the year, research of communication methods use factors. When researching communication methods use factors the Author took into account the number of employees in an organization, respondent’s position, department of organiza-tion he or she worked for etc.
