    Przedstawiono analityczny model wymiany ciepła w chłodnicy samochodowej stanowiącej krzyżowo-prądowej lamelowy wymiennik ciepła. Wyprowadzono wzory na rozkład temperatury cieczy wewnątrz rury oraz temperatury powietrza w dwubiegowej chłodnicy o dwóch rzędach rur. Za pomocą wyprowadzonych wzorów można określić strumienie ciepła przekazywane przez poszczególne rzędy rur, a także moc chłodnicy przy zadanych temperaturach wlotowych i strumieniowych masowych czynników. W pracy omówiono wyniki badań aerodynamicznych, hydraulicznych i cieplnych chłodnicy silnika o pojemności skokowej 1580 m[^3]. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań wyznaczono wzory na współczynniki charakteryzujące opory przepływu powietrza i płynu chłodzącego oraz wzór na liczbę Nusselta od strony powietrza.
    An analytical mathematical model of two-row plate-fin exchangers is presented. The temperature distributions on the fluid and air sides can easily be calculated using the developed model. The comparison of calculated results with experimental data for the automotive radiator shows that the mathematical model is very accurate. The results of the experimental investigation of the plate-fin-and-tube automotive radiator are presented. The tested two-pass radiator consists of two inline rows of tubes with smooth plate fins. The objective was to derive the correlations for the friction factors and the air-side heat transfer coefficient as a function of the Reynolds numbers. The air side heattransfer coefficient was determined from the condition that the calculated and measured coolant outlet temperatures aer equal.

    This paper analyzes and explains certain parts of Syrianus’s Commentary on book M of Aristotle’s Metaphysics, which details Syrianus’s response to Aristotle’s attack against the Platonic position of the separate existence of numbers. Syrianus defends the separate existence not only of eidetic but also of mathematical numbers, following a line of argumentation which involves a hylomorphic approach to the latter. He proceeds with an analysis of the mathematical number into matter and form, but his interpretation entails that form is the constituent of number, which has the status and role of a Platonic Form. This solution allows him not only to explain and justify the unity of number, but also to apply the Platonic thesis of the separate existence of numbers, to the mathematical or monadic numbers themselves. It also betrays its tendency to combine theses of the Platonic Ontology with fundamental Aristotelian doctrines.

    Článok je ukážkou prezentácie dvoch metód výpočtu súčtu vybraných nekonečných číselných radov. Historické poznámky sú jednou z foriem motivácie matematickej činnosti. Matematicko-pedagogický proces má motivovať študentov aj touto formou. Slávny Cicero sa preslávil o.i. citátom: “Historia est Magistra Vitae” Príspevok je pohľadom do 14. storočia, konkrétne stredobodom pozornosti je matematik Mikuláš Oresme, ktorý o. i. dokázal počítať súčty nekonečných číselných radov názornou metódou. Tento spôsob výpočtu bol veľmi obmedzený. Druhý spôsob výpočtu tkvie v aplikácii aparátu vyššej matematiky, ktorá sa rodí v 17. storočí. No uvedené súčty sa efektívne počítajú až o dve storočia neskôr, lebo až v 19. storočí matematika prekonáva svoju druhú krízu, do ktorej sa v 18. storočí dostala.
    The paper presents two methods of calculating the selected infinite sequences of number series. The historical notes used are one of the forms of the motivation of math-ematical activity, since it is believed that the mathematical-pedagogical process should be motivated also in this way. The famous Cicero is, among other things, also famed by saying “Historia est Magistra Vitae”. The paper looks back to the 14th century by focus-ing on Nicolas Oresme who managed to calculate the sums of infinite sequences, alt-hough his approach was a limited one. The other method of calculation rests in the appli-cation of the apparatus of a higher mathematical level which was originated in the 17th century. However, the given sums were calculated only 2 centuries later, when mathe-matics managed to overcome the crisis which it suffered in the 18th century.

    Opis:
    Tuberculosis (TB), a serious public health infection that mainly affects the lungs, is caused by bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis, TB). This research is designed and analyzed using a compartmental modelling approach to study the transmission dynamics of TB with different stages of infection. Qualitative analysis of the proposed model reveals that the model exhibits two equilibrium points: the disease-free equilibrium point (DFE) and the endemic equilibrium (EE). The basic reproduction number (R0 ) is determined using the next generation matrix technique, and stability analysis is carried out to show whether the disease can persist or die out in population. Further analysis of the model shows that the EE is globally asymptotically stable (GAS) when R0 > 1. With the aid of the forward sensitivity index method, we determine the most sensitive parameters of the model to control the spread of TB infection effectively. Our analysis shows that treatment (medication) and campaign awareness coupled with other key control measures, could help maintain the spread of MTB infection in human geographical boundaries.

    W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących szacowania prawdopodobieństwa wystąpienia wypadku przy pracy związanego z użytkowaniem rusztowań budowlanych w pięciu województwach Polski. W ramach przedstawionych badań opracowano autorską metodykę, w której wykorzystano: wyniki badań empirycznych, informacje o liczbie wypadków przy pracy z udziałem rusztowań budowlanych oraz dane statystyczne dotyczące wskaźników społeczno-gospodarczych. Otrzymane wyniki mogą być wykorzystane do predykcji prawdopodobieństwa wystąpienia wypadku na rusztowaniu budowlanym w przyszłości.
    The article presents the results of research on estimating the probability of occupational accidents related to the use of construction scaffolding in five regions of Poland. Within the framework of the presented research, the author’s methodology was developed using: the results of empirical research, information on the number of occupational accidents involving construction scaffolding and statistical data on socio-economic indicators. The results obtained can be used to predict the probability of a construction scaffolding accident in the future.
