A modern family is undergoing many changes. The definitions of a family and marriage that have been used so far are no longer in step with the current reality. The traditional model of a patriarchal family is sinking into oblivion. Postmodernity has proved that nowadays it is possible to live outside marriage and family. We are witnessing the forming of a new model of a father and a mother as well as a husband and a wife. Today’s pluralism and a great deal of tolerance for different lifestyles cause confusion among those who are used to the old ways. What can be seen in modern family life is an increase in requirements related to its quality. Each family member has their own concept of family. Family world is becoming multiversion. Formally, marriage was above an individual. Today, marriage is an individual’s design and a dynamic project that can be carried out in a number of variants. In my thesis I am trying to present a family as seen by selected inhabitants of Wadowice district. It is true, there is no single recipe for a happy and attractive family. Everybody has their own vision of happiness and family attraction.

W artykule Autor analizuje przemiany w moralności małżeńsko-rodzinnej w świadomości młodzieży akademickiej w XXI wieku na podstawie wyników sondaży opinii publicznej i rezultatów badań socjologicznych przeprowadzonych w różnych środowiskach społecznych. Można by ogólnie szacować, że w środowiskach młodzieży akademickiej w Polsce około 20% badanych aprobuje wartości i normy katolickiej etyki małżeńskiej i rodzinnej, około 50% prezentuje postawy selektywne i około 30% całkowicie odeszło od tej moralności. Gdybyśmy chcieli oszacować wyłącznie postawy katolików wobec wartości i norm prorodzinnych, należałoby przyjęte wskaźniki nieco zmienić, w kierunku większej aprobaty tych norm i wartości prorodzinnych (wzrost aprobaty przynajmniej o 5%). Wszystkie proponowane oszacowania mają jedynie charakter prawdopodobny, a bardziej precyzyjne procedury obliczeń mogłyby wprowadzić nawet znaczące korektury.
The article analyzes the transformation of marriage and family morality in the consciousness of academic youth in the 21st Century based on the results of public opinion polls and the results of sociological surveys conducted in various social settings. It could be generally estimated that in the Polish academic youth circles, about 20% of the respondents accept the values and norms of Catholic marriage and family ethics; some 50% present accept selective attitudes and about 30% have totally distanced themselves from this kind of morality. If we were to estimate only the attitudes of Catholics toward pro-family values and norms, the adopted indicators would have to be changed slightly, in the direction of a higher approval regarding pro-family norms and values (an increase in approval would be at least 5%). All the proposed estimates are only probable, and more precise calculation procedures could even bring significant corrections.

Sobór Watykański II przyniósł nowa dynamikę, ukierunkowując Kościół na małżeństwo i rodzinę. Jan Paweł II często przedstawiał zagadnienia związane z małżeństwem i rodziną w swoich przemówieniach, katechezach i dokumentach, wzmacniając nie tylko teologię rodziny, ale także troskę pastoralną małżeństwa i rodziny. Papież rozbudował wizję formacji przygotowującej do małżeństwa i rodziny jako szczególnej wspólnoty. Całe życie tej wspólnoty jest bowiem oparte na sakramentalnym znaczeniu rodziny, zatem otrzymuje szczególny rodzaj uświęcenia. Ludzka miłość, a zwłaszcza miłość małżeńska i rodzinna, przedłuża miłość Boga. Rodzice są przeznaczeni do udzielania swoim dzieciom nie tylko daru życia, ale także daru wiary. Jan Paweł II obiektywnie patrzył na sytuację i rolę rodziny, dlatego w swoim nauczaniu wskazywał sposoby wzmacniania rodzin niszczonych przez cywilizację śmierci.
The Second Vatican Council brought a new dynamism in directing the Church towards marriage and family. After Vatican II John Paul II frequently has presented family issues in his speeches, catechesis and written documents supporting not only the theology of family, but also the pastoral care of marriage and family. Pope has developed a vision of the formation towards marriage and family as a special type of “community”. The whole life of this “community” is based upon the sacramental meaning of the family, and therefore receives a special consecration. Human love, especially love in marriage and family prolongs God’s love. Parents are commissioned by God to give their children not only the gift of life, but also the gift of faith. John Paul II objectively looked at the situation and role of the family, so in his teaching he has been pointing ways of strengthening families being destroyed by death civilization.

The young man goes through some preparative stages for life in marriage and family. They are made up of his maturation and readiness to make permanent decisions. Now aside to the family, the Church and school the mass media have become important in this process. They fulfil not only entertaining and informative functions but also educational. Now when preparation for marriage and family is at stake, such values are important that determine a concrete model of marriage and family. It is interesting to know which models of marital life and preferred by young people at the stage of a closer and direct preparation for life in marriage and family. How important are their age and living circumstances in this choice? The studies presented in this paper become an additional point for further analyses and considerations how to bring the Christian model of marriage and family to those are preparing themselves for marriage.

Le questioni legate con la problematica della preparazione dei giovani per la decifrazione giusta della propria vacazione, appartengono ai fattori determinanti nella prospettiva della realizzazione della vita dell’uomo, insieme nella dimensione personale e sociale. Per questo motivo appare una questione di capitale importanza: cioè, della cura comune e solidale per sollevamento di livello della coscienza dei fedeli circa lo stato di preparazione dei giovani per la presa della decisione prima dell’unirsi in matrimonio. Oggi è ovvio un ruolo determinante che hanno i genitori nel campo della formazione, ma anche altre persone ed istituzioni che costituiscono - a particolare titolo – un ambiente dell’influsso diretto alla gioventù. Questo ambiente il più vicino, destinato particolarmente per questo ruolo, è la comunità parrocchiale dei fedeli. È la questione del grande rilievo che il ruolo dei relatori in questa sfera compiano i pastori della Chiesa locale: principalmente i parroci con i suoi collaboratori – religiosi e laici - sotto la guida del vescovo diocesano (can. 1064). II problema menzionato sembra essere molto urgente perche qua e la appaiono le tendenze inquietanti dei concetti laici о addirittura anticristiani della formazione dei giovani, anche nel campo della preparazione al matrimonio e alla famiglia.

The following lines of further research are anticipated: the family as a small domestic church, the principles of the religious education of children in the family, and the family as a place of vocational disclosure. The conclusions of this theoretical study are presented.

The themes and central ideas of Gaudium et Spes of the II Vatican Council are strongly influenced by the Church’s care for dignity of marriage and family. This is exactly the issue that has been the focal point of this study.After indicating the source of marital and family dignity in the Book of Genesis and the St. Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians, showing the marriage as a covenant of God with his people and Christ with the Church, the Council underlined the holy nature of the marriage and family, resulting from the fact of “recreating” in marriage of the all-encompassing love of Christ to its Church. Talking about such profound dignity of these institutions, the Council does not ignore threats stemming from the modern socio-cultural changes and expresses its concern for regaining this dignity for the good of mankind.The formation of the person is the necessary element to fully understand the dignity of marriage and family. The road to achieve it leads through law, proper education in the family home and at school as well as the humanizing culture of social media and proper cooperation of church institutions with the communities.

Podstawowym celem artykułu jest analiza zależności między formą związku partnerskiego/ małżeńskiego a religijnością wśród młodych dorosłych. Badania własne pokazują, że wśród dorosłych osób dla tej kategorii wiekowej w związku małżeńskim występuje większe prawdopodobieństwo uczestnictwa w życiu religijnym. Osoby żyjące w pojedynkę oraz w kohabitacji cechuje niższe niż w przypadku małżeństw prawdopodobieństwo uczestnictwa w praktykach religijnych. Temat został podjęty w związku z odnotowaniem w statystykach zmniejszającej się religijności ludzi młodych. Osoby w tej kategorii wiekowej częściej wybierają religijność pozainstytucjonalną. W warunkach postępujących procesów sekularyzacji następuje uwolnienie młodych jednostek spod tradycyjnych nakazów moralnych i religijnych, a życie małżeńskie/partnerskie staje się kwestią wyboru.
The basic aim of this article is an analysis of existing linkage between the relation form of partnership/marriage and piety among young adults. The research which has been done show undoubtedly that there is more probability of reverence for or devotion to God or deep respect for religion in the midst of married adults in that age subgroup. The probability of participating in religious practice is higher among people who lead a single life or just are cohabitants. Young adults have been broken free and now they are fleeing from religious imperatives and that can be clearly visible in the current process of growing secularisation. Marriage life has been treated by human beings much more as a matter of choice.

Bernard Shaw’s Plays Pleasant are an example of realization of convention of realistic social dramaturgy as well as a proof of a serious reflection on condition and construction of the institution of marriage and the family of Victorian era. You Never Can Tell which is an object of analyses in this article raises the question of dramatization of behaviours of individuals, masks worn by individuals because of social situations, a strategy of seduction (social life as drama/game). The institution of marriage functions as an object of critique, a tool in the games between sexes and as an object of affirmation. The “duel of sexes” is the key problem of comedy. Bernard Shaw presents the mechanism of arousing of desire as well as demonstrating that love is a form of game and desire is the basic experience in the construction of human identity.

Artykuł przedstawia perspektywy badawcze związane z intensyfikacją studiów nad strukturami rodzinnymi i wspólnotami domowymi na ziemiach polskich do schyłku feudalizmu. Autor wskazuje na potrzebę poszerzenia i unowocześnienia kwestionariusza pytań badawczych, które powinny doprowadzić do odkrycia wielu interesujących sfer codziennej egzystencji podstawowej komórki zjawisk społecznych i demograficznych. Dalszym pogłębionym badaniom powinno sprzyjać nie tylko poszerzenie katalogu źródeł ujmowanych łącznie, ale w jeszcze większym stopniu wykorzystanie modeli teoretycznych i narzędzi statystycznych (mikrosymulacje).
The article outlines the issues and research perspectives related to the intensification of studies on family structures and household communities in feudal Poland. The author indicates the need to extend and modernise the questionnaire of research questions, which should lead to discovering many interesting spheres of the everyday existence of the elementary cell of social and demographic phenomena. Further in-depth research should be supported by expanding the catalogue of sources considered jointly and, to an even greater extent, by using theoretical models and statistical tools (microsimulations).

W swoim nauczaniu Kościół nigdy nie tracił z pola swojego zainteresowania troski o dobro małżeństwa i rodziny. To temat, który zawsze zajmował ważne miejsce w kościelnych dokumentach oraz stanowił przedmiot pogłębionej refleksji. Stanowisko w tej sprawie zajął również papież Franciszek w najnowszej adhortacji apostolskiej Amoris laetitia. Głos w debacie na temat rodziny jest istotny szczególnie dzisiaj, kiedy to dotknięta zostaje ona dynamiką głębokich zmian na płaszczyźnie kulturowej i społecznej. Dostrzegając trudną sytuację, w jakiej często znajdują się współczesne rodzin, papież Franciszek proponuję spojrzenie przepełnione miłością miłosierną, która jest siłą uzdrawiającą, kojącą rany oraz budującą. Na uwagę zasługuję również, fakt, że sam dokument podpisany został w Roku Jubileuszowym Miłosierdzia. Zarysowana perspektywa jest głęboko przesiąknięta tajemnicą miłosierdzia, także w odniesieniu do rozumienia przez małżonków kwestii porządku moralnego oraz aplikacji określonych norm moralnych. Poniższy artykuł podejmuję próbę interpretacji najnowszej adhortacji papieża Franciszka z punktu widzenia wielopłaszczyznowych trudności, z jakim spotykają się współczesne rodziny i małżeństwa w zakresie norm i zasad moralności. Kluczem rozumienia papieskiego dokumentu staje się tajemnica Bożego miłosierdzia. Uzdrawiający dotyk miłości miłosiernej stanowi niezbędne remedium, które leczy i zabliźnia rany dzisiejszych małżeństw i rodzin.
The Church has never lost sight of its concern for well-being of marriage and the family in its teaching. This is a subject that has always occupied an important place in Church’s documents and has been the subject of a deep reflection. Pope Francis, in his recent apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia, also took a stance in this matter. His voice in the debate concerning the family is especially important today when the family is affected by the dynamics of deep cultural and social changes. Recognizing difficult situations which modern families often face, Pope Francis offers a look filled with merciful love, which has healing, soothing and elevating power. It is also worth noting that the document itself was signed during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The presented perspective is deeply rooted in the mystery of mercy, also with reference to the understanding by married couples the question of the moral order and the application of certain moral norms.The following article is an attempt of interpreting Pope Francis’ recent exhortation from the viewpoint of multi-faceted difficulties, with modern families and marriages in terms of norms and principles of morality. The key to understanding the papal document is the mystery of divine mercy. The healing touch of merciful love is an essential remedy that heals and cures the wounds of present-day marriages and families.

Opis:
Partnerships and their status are the subject of public debate, which began in Western Europe a few years ago and recently came to Poland. The topics of discussion are legal, economic and social solutions (including inheritance and the adoption of children) and mostly the goal of these debates is to establish equal rights of marriage and domestic partnership. Supporters of same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships are demanding equal and free functioning in the social space, at the same time alleging discrimination by Polish legislation, the institutions of government and the (so-called) majority of the public. Social campaigns on domestic partnerships (and homosexual relationships) are an at- tempt to break down stereotypes and cultural taboos that were built over the years around these topics. The aim of this paper is the study of Polish social advertisements seeking an answer to, what styles of rhetoric and visual techniques are mostly used to highlight the problem of partnerships’ discrimination and to generate a new social approach in the common mind of Polish society.

Opis:
Kościół, świadomy tego, że małżeństwo i rodzina są jednym z najcenniejszych dóbr ludzkości, a jednocześnie dostrzega zagrożenia pochodzące ze strony ustawodawstwa państwa i różnych instytucji. W ustawodawstwem i  nauczaniu, Kościół chce pokazać ich pochodzenie, cel, cechy , znaczenie i wartość jaką posiada rodzina oraz zaoferować pomoc dla małżeństwa i rodziny w wypełnianiu swojego zadania i powołania. Przez nauczanie Kościoła chce podjąć wyraźne stanowisko wobec różnych niekorzystnych lub wrogich sił i systemów mających wpływ ma małżeństwa i rodziny, przypominając z mocą i siłą o wartości, zasad jakie posiada ta "instytucja" społeczna.
The Church, aware of the fact that marriage and the family are one of the most valuable goods of mankind, and at the same time noticing the threats and hazards to them coming from the state legislation and various institutions, places marriage and the family in the centre of its attention. By its legislation and persistent teaching, the Church wants to show their origin, nature, character, purpose, qualities, importance and value as well as to offer help to marriage and the family in the fulfillment of their tasks and vocation. Through its instruction and teaching the Church wants to take an explicit stance towards various unfavorable or inimical forces and systems aimed against marriage and the family, reminding with power and strength about the values, principles and ideas of marriage and the family. At the same time the Church perceives marriage and the family as a subject of its own rights, which the state, consisting of a multiplicity of families, has to correctly interpret, acknowledge and protect. Hence the Church encourages the state to protect and help the marriages and families, encouraging it also to create such a social-economic-cultural system and such legal and system protection, in which the rights of marriage and family will be fully respected. Thanks to the energetic activity of the Holy See in the field of researches on the problems of contemporary family, the ground is being prepared for a complete and comprehensive picture of the rights of marriage and the family; the beginning and a sample of this was given in the exhortation Familiaris consortio of John Paul II, which on the foundation of the teaching of the Second Vatican Council and the Code of Canon Law, clearly demarcates the direction of the Church's stipulations for the code of family rights. The Church holds deeply at heart the defense and protection of the fundamental and essential rights of marriage and the family. It can be said that the Gospel of marriage and the family, which is propagated by the Church and offered by it to the world and Europe, gives marriage and the family an unchangeable position and dynamism, showing the necessity for assistance and service on the part of the state, society and the Church itself. The objective of that teaching is welfare and proper development of marriages as such and at the same time it provides a full view of the rights of marriage and the family including their spiritual and personal dimension. Marriage and the family are consequently presented as subjects of rights both in the Church and the state, by virtue of their own and inalienable natural right to existence, proper functioning and realization of vocation, tasks and development. The problem is how induce Europe and the world to voluntarily accept and implement the teaching, vision, rights and values, which are propagated by the Church with reference to marriage and the family.
