Grammatical Evolution (GE) is a form of Genetic Programming (GP) based on Context-Free Grammar (CF Grammar). Due to the use of grammars, GE is capable of creating syntactically correct solutions. GE uses a genotype encoding and is necessary to apply a Mapping Process (MP) to obtain the phenotype representation. There exist some well-known MPs in the state-of-art like Breadth-First (BF), Depth-First (DF), among others. These MPs select the codons from the genotype in a sequential manner to do the mapping. The present work proposes a variation in the selection order for genotype’s codons; to achieve that, it is applied a random permutation for the genotype’s codons order-taking in the mapping. The proposal’s results were compared using a statistical test with the results obtained by the traditional BF and DF using the Symbolic Regression Problem (SRP) as a benchmark.

Grammatical Evolution (GE) is a novel data-driven, model-induction tool, inspired by the biological gene-to-protein mapping process. This study provides an introduction to GE, and demonstrates the methodology by applying it to construct a series of models for the prediction of bankruptcy, employing information drawn from financial statements. Unlike prior studies in this domain, the raw financial information is not preprocessed into pre-determined financial ratios. Instead, the ratios to be incorporated into the classification rule are evolved from the raw financial data. This allows the creation and subsequent evolution of alternative ratio-based representations of the financial data. A sample of 178 publicly quoted, US firms, drawn from the period 1991 to 2000 are used to train and test the model. The best evolved model correctly classified 86 (77)% of the firms in the in-sample training set (out-of-sample validation set), one year prior to failure.

W artykule dokonano analizy przebiegu procesu dystrybucyjnego w oparciu o znane narzędzia zarządzania wizualnego. W niniejszej pracy zaprezentowano mapę logiczną procesu dystrybucji oraz zestaw map powstałych w wyniku analizy VSM – Value Stream Mapping. Na podstawie graficznego zaprezentowania procesu dystrybucji określono określeno czynności wchodzących w skład procesu, zidentyfikowano hierarchię wykonania operacji, wyszukano powiązań pomiędzy operacjami, określono realizatorów działań. Najistotniejszym jednak wynikiem analizy było zidentyfikowanie i wskazanie obszarów powstawania marnotrwawstwa w procesie, które wymagają doskonalenia.
The paper presents the results of the distribution process analysis based on the well-known visual management tools. This paper presents a logical map of the distribution process and a set of maps resulting from the VSM analysis - Value Stream Mapping. On the basis of a graphical presentation of the distribution process, the number of activities included in the process was determined, the hierarchy of operation execution was identified, relationships between operations were searched, and action providers were identified. However, the most important result of the analysis, was the identification of wastage areas in the process that require improvement.

The aim of the paper was to improve service processes carried out by Knorr-Bremse Systemy Kolejowe Polska sp. z o.o. Particularly, emphasise unnecessary movements and physical efforts of employees. The indirect goal was to find a solution in the simplest possible way using the Muda ideology. In order to improve the service process at the beginning was executed the process mapping for the devices to be repaired, ie. brake callipers, electro- hydraulic units and auxiliary release units. The processes were assessed and shown as Pareto-Lorenz analysis. In order to determine the most time consuming process. Based on the obtained results use of a column crane with articulated arm was proposed to facilitate the transfer of heavy components between areas. The final step was to assess the effectiveness of the proposed solution in terms of time saving. From the company perspective results of the analysis are important. The proposed solution not only reduces total service time but also contributes to crew’s work comfort.

The PSH Database Integrator as a sophisticated tool for groundwater management answers the needs of the Polish Hydrogeological Survey. At the first stage it is a functional integration system for all hydrogeological databases existing in the Polish Geological Institute such as those of Groundwater Monitoring, HYDRO Bank and Hydrogeological Map of Poland. The final stage of all kind of analysis involves cartographical representation of the results. Using the PSH Database Integrator in this process reduces labour input and time as well as helps keeping standards. Next stage in the system development will enable internet access for users.

Opis:
Modern information management systems are often driven by workflow engines, which require an accurate, detailed, and structured process description. Instead of theoretical modelling of such processes we propose a technique which can be a connection between traditional management (organisational structure) and business process management approach. In our work we present a case study where the automatic process mining techniques are applied to administrative processes in an environment of event logs recorded by DMS. We use event log data to discover and describe the process map of the organisation and to model structured process descriptions. Our approach allows for the extraction of models based on facts and it is a direct connection between the process model and raw data generated by the organisation. Such scenario increases consistency between the mapped model and the reality of the organisation.

Supply chain can be considered as a series of linked inventories. This paper considers the impact of inventory on the economics of the businesses and the whole chain and discusses causes of inefficiency. In most supply chains the goods are inactive for the majority of the time, and this leads to longer term and therefore less accurate forecasting. The result is typically excess inventory, shortages, and inflexibility. By analysing the wasted time and costs in the supply chain, a clearer view of the whole process can be created. Total supply time can be considered as three components, namely value added time, non-value added process time, and waste time. This basic approach shows where improvements should be focussed. Using this time-based measurement enables more relevant comparison between supply chains than the normal supply chain efficiency ratio.

Celem podjęcia tematu było usprawnienie procesów serwisowych realizowanych przez Knorr-Bremse Systemy Kolejowe Polska sp. z o.o. Szczególny nacisk położono na wykonywanie zbędnych ruchów i wysiłek fizyczny pracowników. Celem pośrednim było odnalezienie rozwiązania w możliwie prosty sposób z wykorzystaniem koncepcji muda. Aby usprawnić proces serwisowy, wykonano najpierw mapowanie procesów dla naprawianych podzespołów, tj. zacisków, agregatów hydraulicznych oraz pomocniczych jednostek luzujących. Następnie dokonano oceny czasochłonności poszczególnych czynności i wykonano analizę Pareto-Lorenza, aby określić najbardziej czasochłonne procesy. Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników zaproponowano zastosowanie żurawia w celu ułatwienia procesu przenoszenia ciężkich podzespołów pomiędzy stanowiskami. Ostatnim krokiem była ocena efektywności proponowanego rozwiązania pod kątem oszczędności czasowych. Z punktu widzenia przedsiębiorstwa wyniki wykonanej analizy mają istotne znaczenie. Zaproponowane rozwiązanie nie tylko pozwala na redukcję całkowitego czasu procesów serwisowych, ale również wpływa na komfort pracy załogi.
The purpose of taking on this topic was to improve the service processes carried out by Knorr-Bremse Systemy Kolejowe Polska Sp. z o.o. Particular emphasis was placed on unnecessary movements and physical effort of employees. The intermediate goal was to find the solution in the simplest possible way using Muda. In order to improve the service process, process mapping for the repaired components, i.e. clamps, hydraulic aggregates and auxiliary unloading units, was performed first. Then, the time-consuming nature of individual activities was assessed and the Pareto-Lorenz analysis was carried out to determine the most time-consuming processes. Based on the results obtained, the use of a crane was proposed to facilitate the process of transferring heavy components between stations. The last step was to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution in terms of time savings. From the company's point of view, the results of the analysis performed are of significant importance. The proposed solution not only reduces the total time of service processes but also affects the comfort of the crew.

W niniejszym artykule opisano wybrane narzędzia systemów automatyzacji procesów logistycznych (SALP) oraz przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę wielokryterialnej metody podejmowania decyzji PROMETHEE z punktu widzenia zastosowania jej do oceny rezultatów wdrożenia SALP w obszarze logistyki produkcji. W ostatniej części zaproponowano metodykę przygotowania danych wymaganych w procesie oceny wdrożenia SALP na podstawie narzędzi modelowania i symulacji.
In this paper, author described chosen tools of systems of logistic processes automation (SALP) and shortly characterized the multi-criteria decision making method PROMETHEE in terms of using it in assessment of implementing SALP in production logistics. In the last part, a methodology of preparing data required in assessment of SALP implementing process, basing on modelling and simulation tools, was proposed.

The sales market requires both the highest quality of offered goods and satisfactory prices for the buyer. In addition to the reliability of the important aspects are also the time of order fulfillment, reliability, readiness to act around the clock, and service of sold goods after their sale. In the production and confection of conveyor belts, the priority is a customer who, having strictly defined product requirements, also has individually focused goals. To meet these aspects, you need to look after the product both during its production and after. The products of this industry are specific, so that they can be used, after sales service is often required to be installed at the customer and possible actions to maintain their good condition during operation. The article analyzes selected production processes of transmission belts to identify disturbances. The analysis uses the value stream mapping method. Then, improvement methods were proposed.

The visual management technique used in process improvement, i.e. value stream mapping (VSM) has been presented in the paper. Value stream mapping is one of the basic management tools in the context of Lean Management or Lean Production. It allows to visualize the flow of decision, information, material and their connections in the full production cycle (from the order, through planning, production, to shipping to the customer). VSM is a lean tool that gives the ability to create flows in the process before implementing changes. In this paper, the possibilities of changes planning based on the current and future status maps have been discussed. On the basis of the current state map (CSM), the areas requiring improvement and operations which efficiency is decisive and for the process have been designated. Particular attention has been paid to the possibilities of using VSM in unit production processes. In the paper has been proposed the two possibilities for company development in terms of the improvement technique in line with the Kaizen philosophy as well as the implementation of process innovations. Which means balanced development through the improvement of the existing process or an acute development strategy through the implementation of process innovations (which involves significant costs).

The relatively limited application of lean in the food process industries has been attributed to the unique characteristics of the food sector i.e. short shelf-life, heterogeneous raw materials, and seasonality. Moreover, barriers such as large and inflexible machinery, long setup time, and resource complexity, has limited the implementation and impact of lean practices in process industries in general. Contrary to the expectations in the literature, we bring in this paper a successful experience of lean implementation in a company of the food-processing sector. By focusing on two lean tools (VSM and SMED), the company reduced changeover time by 34%, and increased the production capacity of the main production line by 11%. This improvement enabled the company to avoid the use of temporary workers by extending the worktime of its workforce during peak months. Moreover, the reduction of setup time avoided the use of large lot size in production, which, in turn, reduced the total cycle time of production and the incidence of quality problems.

The paper demonstrates how the weak compactness of \(C\) plays an essential role in proving the weak convergence of these processes to common fixed points.

The article presents the essence of the method of value stream mapping on the example of a selected production process in an automotive company. The analysis presented in the paper concerned the indication of potential organizational possibilities of actions aimed at implementing changes in the organization based on the results of measuring the process with the use of the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) indicator. All stages of the production process were explained, which allowed to obtain the results of the process efficiency analyses. Further on, the results of the analysis of process improvement in accordance with the PDCA approach are discussed. The significance of establishing the method in order to improve the functioning of the process and the meaning and usage of the value stream mapping methodology in building successful relations with the end customer were emphasized. The undertaken activities constitute a research gap defined as follows: the effectiveness of management methods in an organization depends on the efficiency of using the applied indicators and reacting to changes. Thus, defining models with potential application capabilities in order to increase management effectiveness is one of the most important issues in the area of enterprise organization.

Optymalizacja procesów produkcyjnych ma na celu uzyskanie wyrobów wysokiej jakości, przy jak najniższych kosztach, w odpowiednim czasie. Duża konkurencyjność na rynku oraz rosnące wymagania klientów wymusza na producentach szukania nowoczesnych rozwiązań. Jednym z takich rozwiązań staje się obecnie mapowanie strumienia wartości, będące narzędziem optymalizacji procesów produkcyjnych. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów optymalizacji procesu produkcyjnego przy użyciu mapowania. W pracy scharakteryzowano najważniejsze procesy przy produkcji elementów skanera 3shape Trios. Przedstawiono wspomagający ten proces system operacyjny. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań konkretnego procesu w postaci analizy wydajności, czasu obsługi oraz zdarzeń wpływających na wydłużenie w/w procesu. Wyniki badań oraz przedstawiona analiza pozwoliły na wyciągnięcie wniosków o charakterze ogólnym i szczegółowym.
Optimization of manufacturing processes is to achieve high quality products at the lowest cost, at the right time. Highly competitive market and increasing customer demands force producers to seek new solutions. One such solution is now becoming a value stream mapping, which is a tool to optimize production processes. The purpose of this paper is to present selected aspects of the optimization of the production process using the mapping. The study characterized the most important processes for the production of components Trios 3Shape scanner. Presented to assist this process the operating system. They presented the results of a particular process in the form of performance analysis, service time and events affecting extension in the process. The results of the studies and the analysis made it possible to draw conclusions about general and specific nature.

The aim of the study presented in this paper is to analyze and evaluate the functioning of the internal transport and warehousing systems, in particular the flows of information in an enterprise and disturbances occurring during their implementation. The method of process mapping was used in order to conduct the study. The paper identifies the main entities (departments) active in the performance of the processes. The paper also presents the map of information flow processes and the dependencies occurring within it and discusses the information flow process map, as well. The solutions for identified problems during map processing were proposed.
Celem przedstawionych w artykule badań jest analiza i ocena funkcjonowania systemów transportów wewnętrznego i magazynowego, a w szczególności realizowanych przepływów informacyjnych zachodzących w przedsiębiorstwie, jak również zakłóceń, które występują w trakcie ich realizacji. Do przeprowadzenia badań wykorzystano metodę mapowania procesów. W artykule zidentyfikowano główne podmioty (działy) występujące w realizacji procesów. W artykule przedstawiono również mapę procesu przepływów informacyjnych i występujące w niej zależności. Omówiono zaprezentowaną mapę procesu przepływów informacyjnych omówiono. Zaproponowano rozwiązanie procesów problemów zidentyfikowanych w trakcie mapowania.

In the paper the possibilities of process re-organizing in relation to simple principles for limiting waste in the production cycle have been presented. Based on value stream mapping and monitoring of performance indicators, the possibilities of changes identification of in the assembly line process have been presented. Furthermore, based on the availability, performance and quality values, it has been proved that relatively small changes can have a very positive effect on the assembly process. Based on the OEE coefficient, it has been found that the proposed changes improved the process's efficiency by more than 20%.

Let \(C\) be a convex compact subset of a uniformly convex Banach space. Let \(\{T_t\}_{t \geq0}\) be a strongly-continuous nonexpansive semigroup on \(C\). Consider the iterative process defined by the sequence of equations $$x_{k+1} =c_k T_{t_{k+1}}(x_{k+1})+(1-c_k)x_k.$$ We prove that, under certain conditions on \(\{c_k\}\) and \(\{t_k\}\), the sequence \(\{x_k\}_{n=1}^\infty\) converges strongly to a common fixed point of the semigroup \(\{T_t\}_{t \geq0}\). There are known results on convergence of such iterative processes for nonexpansive semigroups in Hilbert spaces and Banach spaces with the Opial property, and also weak convergence results in Banach spaces that are simultaneously uniformly convex and uniformly smooth. In this paper, we do not assume the Opial property or uniform smoothness of the norm.

The article presents a strategy when making decisions on implementing new technologies in a company. The Pryzmat company, which deals in the production, distribution and sales of inks and toners for laser and inkjet printers, served as a case study. The article contains a strategy for the purchase of a device aimed at reducing the costs associated with waste and shortening the time of manufacturing the colourful and black cartridge type 650HP. The scope of the article includes a review of processes in the company using the method of value stream mapping, analysis of the proposed improvement and evaluation of the profitability of the purchase of the device.
W artykule przedstawiono strategię postępowania podczas podejmowania decyzji przy wdrażaniu nowych technologii w firmie. Jako studium przypadku posłużyła firma Pryzmat, zajmująca się wytwarzaniem, dystrybucją i sprzedażą tuszy i tonerów do drukarek laserowych i atramentowych. W artykule zawarto strategię zakupu urządzenia mającego na celu zmniejszenie kosztów związanych z odpadami i skróceniem czasu procesu wytwarzania kolorowego i czarnego wkładu typu 650HP. Zakres artykułu obejmuje przegląd procesów w firmie za pomocą metody mapowania strumieniowego, analizę proponowanego usprawnienia oraz ocenę opłacalności zakupu urządzenia.

The popularity of visual management in the lean concept is caused by the possibility to apply it in solving different kind of issues related to reduce waste or process planning. The adaptations of VSM is focused on stream flow, identifying waiting and productive times in accordance to material and information flow. In this paper five basic areas of value stream flow management have been presented and characterized. Discussion under the 5 areas on the VSM process included identifying the dominant stream in the area and the range of factors affecting the flow of the stream. Based on an observation of processes in the manufacturing industry and a literature review, the graphic model of mutual cooperation between value stream areas (1- 5) has been presented.

Assessing the vulnerability of coastal areas is important in evaluating impact of sea level rise due to global climate change. This study aimed to spatially analyze and map the vulnerability level of the Biak Numfor Regency’s coastal area on Biak Island to the threat of sea level rise. The study area is limited to 500 m from the coastline and is divided into 383 grid cells. The Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) method was used to map the level of vulnerability of coastal areas based on four coastal geological variables (coastal elevation, coastal slope, geomorphology, and shoreline change) and three ocean physical process variables (tidal range, average significant wave height, and relative sea level rise). The results showed that the coastal areas of Biak Numfor Regency, belonging to the low, medium and high-risk vulnerability categories, were 77,685.63 km (32.18%), 159,084.38 km (65.74%), and 5,024.96 km (2.08%), respectively. The variables that contribute significantly to the level of vulnerability are coastal elevation, coastal slope, coastal geomorphology, and shoreline changes due to abrasion compared to tidal range, significant wave heights, and sea level rise rates. Vulnerability studies of other variables that can contribute to the vulnerability of coastal areas are needed, such as socio-economic variables and the impact of human activities on changes in the coastal environment, to obtain a comprehensive CVI value in supporting coastal mitigation planning efforts against sea level rise disasters so that they are more focused.
