Opis:
The paper presents an emergy analysis of the poultry farm regarding shifting energy sources from fossil fuels to biomass generated onsite in broilers and hen eggs rearing systems. It has been found that the manure produced on the farm has sufficient energy potential to replace the currently used energy carriers, both for heating and electricity supply. Replacing the currently used conventional energy resources with chicken manure will increase the emission charges. However, implementation of low-emission combustion techniques can help with reducing the emissions. Emergy analysis showed that for the conventional energy mix used in the farm, the Renewability Index (REN) is 0.5797, the Environmental Loading Ratio (ELR) is 171.49 and the Emergy Yield Ratio (EYR) has a value of about 1. If energy carriers are replaced by chicken manure, the REN may increase by 6.19% and the ELR may decrease by 6.11%. These relatively small changes should be considered in the context of the large scale of chicken production in Poland.

Opis:
Due to urban sprawl, the demand for land has increased for the purpose of construction. It is unlikely that soil available at different construction sites will be suitable for designed structures. For improving the load-bearing capacity of the soil, different soil binders are used, which are present in distinct states. In this review, the authors have collected details about various binders, which are generally used in the soil stabilization, and their effect as a binding agent on the soil. In this article, the authors tried to review different traditional binders. After studying various research articles, the authors found that lime, ground-granulated blast slag (GGBS) polypropylene, polyurethane grouting, and asphalt mix are frequently used binders. However, the authors also gathered information about the negative environmental impact of these traditional soil binders, which led to the need for alternatives to these commonly used soil binders. To diminish this issue, different alternate hydraulic and non-hydraulic binders are discussed. The authors found alternatives to cement and lime with the alkali-activated material consisting of Na2O and silica modulus and belite-calcium sulfoaluminate ferrite, which is also known as "Aether™." According to the research, both alternatives emit 20–30% less CO2 into the environment and also improve the compressive strength of the soil. The various studies promotes bitumen modification. Incorporating 20-mesh crumb rubber and bio-oil into the bitumen reduces its viscosity and improves its fatigue value. When waste oil is mixed with asphalt, it revitalizes the bitumen, improves fatigue resistance, and increases compressive strength. The soil particles treated by Eko soil are held together by enzymes, which give them the same strength as cement. Apart from that, low-carbon binders such as basic oxygen furnace slag, bamboo fiber, enzyme-based soil treatment, zebu manure for stabilization, and lignin-contained biofuels and coproducts are discussed. Replacing these traditional binders helps with energy savings. All waste products are recycled, and energy is saved by not manufacturing traditional binders. Additionally, energy is saved, which is required to avoid the detrimental effects of these conventional binders, making them energy-efficient alternate binders. The authors also summarize the methods used, impacts, and changes that occur in soil properties after using substitutes in place of traditional binders. From the review, the authors determined that different binders have various properties in terms of chemical and physical compositions, and they show different variations in terms of strength when added to soil with low bearing capacity or poor stability.

Airborne pathogens are the most important factor causing environmental issues on pig farms. Research on airborne swine-derived microbes has mainly concentrated on several specific microbes or pathogens. The present work was conducted to detect and identify the entire microbial community in piggery air and their dispersion by 16SrRNA sequencing. Fifteen faeces and eighty-four air samples were collected in swine barns and from different distances away from the barns, respectively. The results showed that the faeces and air share the most dominant bacteria. The top 10 genera belonged to Fimicutes, Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes, and accounted for 54% and 76-84% of the total sequences. Moreover, great higher (P < 0.01) microbial diversity was detected in the faeces. This study indicated that a hygienic interval of 50 m should be set on swine farms to prevent the spreading infectious disease caused by airborne pathogens.

Opis:
The objective of this study is to investigate biogas production by anaerobic digestion using mesophilic bacteria mixed with Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). This project aims to determine the volume of biogas generation and volatile fatty acid (VFA) production from chicken manure via the anaerobic digestion process. Anaerobic digestion (AD) of chicken manure (CM) often faces obstacles, including high total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) concentration, inorganic soil particles, and wood chips. The digestion process was carried under batch mode conditions in Scott bottles of 1.0 L active volume. The bottles were immersed in a water bath to control their temperature at 37℃. The characteristics of total solid, volatile solid of mass fraction, pH, and temperature on the amount of biogas produced were studied. The investigation showed that biogas production can be enhanced by inoculation of another material. The optimum biogas composition in the AD system was recorded by Inoculum I, which was achieved on Day 2 at 560 mL/L. The highest cumulative methane yield was observed in the leachate with Inoculum (I), which was 8976 mL/gVS, while the CML produced 4 mL/g VS. The anaerobic digestion (AD) process augmented with inoculum demonstrated heightened efficacy in biogas generation and VFA concentration reduction during the acidogenic phase, surpassing the observed performance in chicken manure leachate.

Opis:
Czynnikami badawczymi były: nawożenie naturalne (obornik) i aplikacja mikroelementami (Cu, Zn, Mn, Cu+Zn+Mn). Wskaźniki kompleksu enzymatycznego i białkowego były istotnie determinowane współdziałaniem nawożenia naturalnego i aplikacją mikroelementami. Najkorzystniejsze wartości tych cech stwierdzono po zastosowaniu obornika oraz dolistnie cynku.
Triticale grain has a high feed value, but it can also be used for consumption purposes, where it can be used as a raw material for the production of bread. The baking value is related to the technological parameters, which should be characterized by optimal values. They are determined, among other things, by both mineral and natural fertilisation. Therefore, two-factor research was carried out using the randomized subblock method. The experimental material consisted of winter triticale grain. The research factors were: natural fertilisation (manure) and foliar spraying with selected microelements (Cu, Zn, Mn, Cu+Zn+Mn). The aim was to check the influence of the abovementioned factors and their interactions on the technological value of grain. The highest values of the falling number, in relation to the control objects, were found after the application of manure and in the object where a total of copper, zinc and manganese were applied foliarly. It was found that manure fertilisation and foliar fertilisation with copper, zinc, manganese and their combined application resulted in an average in the value increase of features of the protein complex of triticale (protein, gluten, sedimentation) and bread volume, compared to the control. The indicators of the enzymatic and protein complex were significantly determined by the interaction of natural fertilisation and the application of microelements. The most favorable values of these features were found after the application of manure and foliar zinc.

Opis:
In 2021, pak choi production in Indonesia was 727.47 Mg, marking an increase of 8.2% compared to the 2020 production, which was 667.47 Mg. Therefore, there is a clear need for cultivation improvement, particularly through the implementation of organic fertilisers. This study aimed to investigate the impact of liquid organic fertiliser (LOF) derived from fish waste and duck manure on the growth and yield of the pak choi plant (Brassica rapa. L. var. Nauli F1). A randomised block design factorial was used with two factors and three replications. The first factor considered was LOF from fish waste, comprising three levels (LOF0= control, LOF1= 25 cm3∙dm-3 of water, and LOF2= 50 cm3∙dm-3 of water). The second factor focused on duck manure fertiliser (DMF) and involved four levels (DMF0= control, DMF1= 3.7 kg∙plot-1, DMF2= 5.55 kg∙plot-1, and DMF3= 7.4 kg∙plot-1). The results showed that the application of LOF from fish waste positively influenced the growth and yield of pak choi, with the most effective treatment observed in LOF1(25 cm3∙dm-3 of water). However, the application of DMF did not yield a significant difference in its effect on the growth and yield of the pak choi plant. The control treatment (DMF0) reported comparable results and the combination of LOF from fish waste and DMF did not show a significant effect, with the most favourable findings observed in the LOF2DMF0 treatment (50 cm3∙dm-3 and control).

Soil acidification, fertility depletion, food insecurity, and environmental pollution all are consequences of the extensive use of chemical fertilizers (CF) in intensively managed plantations. Recent studies have shown that incorporating organic manure (OM) to partially replace CF can help to maintain productivity and soil health. There are no reports on integrated fertilizer management of Zanthoxylum armatum, for optimal ecological services and economic profitability. A pot experiment with Z. armatum was performed to investigate the possibility of incorporating OM in reducing CF use, enhancing soil fertility, and increasing plant growth. For this, seven treatments were designed: NPK, PK, NP, NK, OM, MNPK (50%NPK+50%OM), and control (CK, no fertilizer application). The results showed that NPK application significantly (P < 0.05) increased plant growth, soil nitrate-N, ammonium-N and available K compared to CK. However conventional CF application induced soil acidification. OM application raised the soil pH from 5.50 (CK) to 6.58 and significantly enhanced soil fertility by increasing alkali-hydrolysable N (2.3 times), ammonium-N (1.4 times), available P (4.3 times), the activity of invertase (1.5 times), catalase (2.8 times), acid phosphatase (1.5 times), and count of soil culturable microbes (2.9 times) compared to CK. Conversely, sole OM application did not result in optimum plant growth. Integrating OM with NPK (MNPK), on the other hand, not only provided the highest growth comprehensive value (0.84), but also substantially higher soil fertility comprehensive value (0.71) than traditional CF treatments. Correlation analysis also indicated a positive and significant correlation between soil microbes, enzyme activities and available nutrients. Therefore, OM+NPK could be an optimum measure to get maximum benefits regarding soil fertility, growth of Z. armatum, fertilizer savings and sustainable agroecology.

Eggplant is a vegetable that is widely cultivated in Indonesia. Fertilization is one of the most influential factors to increase eggplant productivity. The research to improve the eggplant productivity through the application of various nitrogen nutrient sources in an integrated nutrient management system and an intercropping system with cabbage was carried out from June to December 2019 in Wonorejo, Poncokusumo-Malang. The study was conducted using a randomized block design (RBD) with 21 treatments and was repeated 3 times. The treatments were D0 = Control (180 kg N) and (D1–D20), which were various combinations of inorganic N fertilizers, manure, and microbes (EM and PGPR). Observations included the number of leaves and stem diameter of eggplant, number of cabbage leaves, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight (per plant, per hectare, and per fruit), and Land Equivalent Ratio (LER), soil analysis before and after the research. The results showed that the combination of 75% inorganic fertilizer + 20–30 t·ha-1 manure + 10–20 ml·l-1 microbe (EM / PGPR) in the eggplant – cabbage intercropping system increased the growth and yield of eggplant, with fruit weights ranging 1.86–2.35 kg·plant-1 or 40.88–53.17 t·ha-1, and LER value was 1.94–2.04.

Opis:
One of the most important fractions of soil organic matter which has significant environmental and agricultural importance is humus. The specific humus compounds of soil include the complex of amorphous organic humic substances which include humic acids, fulvic acids and humins. The effectiveness of the natural formation of active humic substances during composting processes depends on the chemical composition of organic residues and the environmental conditions influencing the development and activity of native microorganisms. The aim of the project was to build innovative composting boxes for chicken manure that allow to effectively obtain a fertilizer with the highest possible content of humic acids, by creating perfect and controlled conditions for the rapid development of indigenous thermophilic microorganisms and by combining it with the owned bio-acceleration technology. For perfect conditions (temperature, humidity, oxygen, pH) for the controlled growth of microorganisms, an algorithm of the dependence of the box operation parameters on the course of the biological process, was built. The product obtained after composting is an easily digestible complex organic fertilizer of brown-black colour, pH 7.5-8.0 and NPK 5:3:4 and a high content of native humic acids. Its use increases the growth of green mass of plants and improves soil fertility, which has been proved by the conducted pot research.

The Directive on National Emission Ceilings specifies the reduction of ammonia (NH3) emissions among other air pollutants, which is most significant for the agricultural sector. The ammonia emission limit set for Hungary was a 10% reduction by 2020, while the target of 32% should be reached by 2030 compared to the 2005 reference year. The paper presents the results of a survey on pig production technology in Hungary from 97 domestic farms. The study aims to know the level of implementation of reduction techniques in livestock production and manure management and highlights the need for further improvements in this production sector. The research found that the application of ammonia reduction techniques was not considered widespread, either in livestock buildings or in manure storage (treatment) and during field application. For almost all (more than 90%) pig production groups, the housing systems were the reference without additional emission reduction. For manure storage, farms have insulated storage under the current regulation, however, significantly more emission reduction technologies were in the variant without cover or crust. Slurry spreading was mainly used with manure application techniques, but more emission-friendly injection and band spreading were also emerging. Besides the expected immediate incorporation, a high proportion of manure was applied between 12 and 24 hours or even after 24 hours. In the studied elements of manure management, significant improvements are needed in applying techniques to reduce ammonia emissions. Effective results can be achieved even by shortening the time between manure application and incorporation with efficient work organization.

Opis:
Anaerobic digestion consists of the biological decomposition of organic waste under anaerobic conditions by various types of microorganisms. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the fermentation starter of methanogenic bacteria on the anaerobic digestion of cattle manure in a bioenergy plant. The effect of various methods (physical, microbiological and chemical) on the digestion of cattle manure was studied under mesophilic (35°C) and thermophilic (50°C) modes. The results of the study showed that the content of volatile fatty acids and the pH of the medium was in the optimal range, the yield of methane biogas (CH4) during anaerobic digestion at 35°C was 0.45 m3/kg and at 50°C was 0.58 m3/kg. The data obtained indicate that the thermophilic mode (50°C) of anaerobic digestion of manure effectively affects the yield of methane biogas. Based on anaerobic digestion in mesophilic mode, a fermentation starter of methanogenic cultures adapted to thermophilic conditions was obtained. According to cultural and morphological characteristics, the cultures were assigned to the genera Methanopyrus and Methanococcus. The results of a study on the effect of the fermentation starter of methanogenic bacteria in fermented manure at 50°C showed that with an increase in the dose of the fermentation starter, the methane-forming ability of anaerobic bacteria increased and the process of methane biogas release intensified (from 0.36 m3/kg to 0.79 m3/kg). Besides, the dose of methanogenic fermentation starter based on Methanopyrus and Methanococcus isolates (28 kg) was determined. When the bioenergy plant is launched in thermophilic mode, the release of biogas increases by 2.2 times, and the digestion period decreases to 10 days.

Opis:
This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of constructed wetlands (CWS) cultivated with Tangola grass (Urochloa purpuracens and Urochloa arrecta) in the treatment of wastewater from pig farming. The CWS were subjected to an organic loading rate of 300 kg of BOD/(ha·day) from swine wastewater. We analyzed total solids, turbidity, color, total Kjeldahl N, and total P in the influent and effluent to the CWS every 30 days for a duration of 4 months. The whole plot factor was vegetation (CWS with and without Tangola grass). The subplot factor was assessment time (15, 45, 75, and 105 days of CWS operation). There was no statistical difference between CWS with and without in terms of the removal efficiency. After 105 days, average removals of 90–95% turbidity, 79–80% total solids, 76–82% color, 42–70% total Kjeldahl N, and 51–63% total P were obtained in all CWS. While Tangola grass did not enhance the removal efficiency of the parameters assessed in this study, it may be harvested to provide fodder for animals, making it a valuable addition to CWS.

Opis:
In Turkey, the renewable water potential per capita is rapidly decreasing in response to the increasing population. Of the 234 billion m3 renewable water potential of our country, 41 billion m3 consists of groundwater and 193 billion m3 consists of rivers. One of the measures to be taken in order to protect renewable water resources in our country, which is not rich in water, is to try to minimize the damage to ground and surface waters caused by solid and liquid wastes that occur in animal shelters. This damage occurs especially with the washing of negatively charged nitrate in the fertilizer content by factors such as precipitation and the increase in the nitrate level of water resources. For the prevention and reduction of environmental problems arising from the said polycultural enterprises; Ecological evaluation of the transition to sustainable farming methods is one of the elements of urgency for the ecological sustainability of animal husbandry. In this study; the definition, scope and briefly the principles of sustainable agricultural methods for the management of nitrate pollution, which is one of the most important parameters that cause water pollution from agricultural production, are emphasized, the reasons for the transition to sustainable agricultural methods are explained, and the necessity and applicability of closely monitoring these developments in İzmir, which has a great potential in terms of animal existence, has been discussed on a basin basis. In addition, in terms of different animal production branches, the situation of animal manure management infrastructure together with plant production has been evaluated and some suggestions have been made with innovative strategies on the basis of basin that can be an example pilot.
