Opis:
Many studies on the impact of psychosocial working conditions on health prove that psychosocial stress at work is an important risk factor endangering workers’ health. Thus it should be constantly monitored like other work hazards. The paper presents a newly developed instrument for stress monitoring called the Psychosocial Working Conditions Questionnaire (PWC). Its structure is based on Robert Karasek's model of job stress (Karasek, 1979; Karasek & Theorell, 1990). It consists of 3 main scales - Job Demands, Job Control, Social Support - and 2 additional scales adapted from the Occupational Stress Questionnaire (Elo, Leppanen, Lindstrom, & Ropponen, 1992), Well-Being and Desired Changes. The study of 8 occupational groups (bank and insurance specialists, middle medical personnel, construction workers, shop assistants, government and self-government administration officers, computer scientists, public transport drivers, teachers, N = 3,669) indicates that PWC has satisfactory psychometrics parameters. Norms for the 8 groups were developed.

There are advantages in considering the routing problem in integrated communication networks as a multiobjective shortest path problem, having in mind to grasp eventual conflicts and trade-offs among distinct objectives and quality of services (QoS) constraints. On the other hand the utilisation of dynamic routing methods in various types of networks is well known to have significant impact on network performance and cost, namely in overload and failure conditions. This paper presents the detailed formulation of a proposal of a multiple objective dynamic routing method (MODR) of periodic state dependent routing type, enabling to represent distinct QoS related metrics and requirements in a consistent manner. The MODR method present formulation is based on a multiple objective shortest path model with constraints and is prepared to use implied costs as one of the metrics. Alternative paths tor each traffic flow are changed as a function of periodic updates of certain QoS related parameters estimated from real time measurements on the routes and trunks of the network. Such paths are computed by a specialised and efficient variant of a bi-objective shortest path constrained algorithm, developed for the MODR, enabling to incorporate flexible requirements on the QoS metrics. The architecture of the routing system is discussed together with the features of its main modules. An illustrative example of application of the MODR path calculation module to a circuit-switched type network using blocking probability and implied cost as metrics, is also presented, considering different overload conditions.

Intelligent decision system (IDS) is a window-based software package that has been developed on the basis of the evidential reasoning (ER) approach, a recent development in handling hybrid multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) problems with uncertainties. In this paper, the evidential reasoning approach will be briefly described first, and its major differences from and the relationships with conventional MCDA methods will also be discussed. Then the main features, advantages and benefits of IDS will be demonstrated and explained using two application examples: supplier pre-qualification assessment and customer satisfaction survey analysis, which have been investigated as part of the research projects led by the authors and funded by the UK government and the EC. It is concluded in the paper that the ER approach can be used not only to deal with problems that traditional methods can solve, but also to model and analyse more complicated decision problems that traditional methods are incapable of handling.

Telecommunications requires multiple criteria analysis and decision support. It is shown how some basic facts from telecommunications and informational sciences can be used to formulate a rational theory of intuition, developed as a complement of multiple criteria decision support. This paper presents a method called creative space used for integrating various approaches to knowledge creation and based on SECI spiral, I5 system and rational theory of intuition. Questions of supporting new technology creation by constructing specialized creative environments similar to decision support environments are also indicated.

W artykule omówiono podstawowe aspekty realizacji aktywnych strategii inwestycyjnych na rynkach finansowych z wykorzystaniem systemów wspomagania decyzji (systemów transakcyjnych), w kontekście klasycznych teorii zarządzania portfelem inwestycyjnym. Wskazano zasadnicze przesłanki zastosowania metod sztucznej inteligencji, takich jak sieci neuronowe i algorytmy genetyczne, do konstrukcji inwestycyjnych systemów decyzyjnych. Przedstawiono charakterystykę sieci neuronowych oraz algorytmów genetycznych jako efektywnych narzędzi w modelowaniu i prognozowaniu rynków finansowych.
The paper discusses basic aspects of application of active investment strategies in financial markets - in the context of classic theories of portfolio management. Such active strategies are generated with the use of decision support systems (transaction systems). The main assumptions of utilisation of artificial intelligence methods, such as neural networks and genetic algorithms, in the construction of investment decision systems have been indicated. The characteristic of neural networks and genetic algorithms as effective tools in financial markets modelling and prediction has also been discussed here.

Opis:
Decision making supported by task-oriented software tools plays a pivotal role in a modern enterprise. That is because commercially available ERP systems are not able to respond in an interactive on-line/real-time mode. It opens a new generation of DSS that enable a fast prototyping of production flows in multi-project environment as well as an integrated approach to project execution evaluation. In that context our goal is to provide a knowledge base approach allowing one to be independent on a context or representation of particular data as well as allowing designing an interactive and task-oriented decision support system (DSS). The assumed knowledge base mode of specifying a production system leads to solving a logic-algebraic method (LAM) decision problem. The approach proposed complements the decision system with an additional module (evaluation module) and facilitates searching for possible solutions meeting company production programme execution evaluation criteria. The results obtained are implemented in a software package supporting project management in the SMEs. Illustrative example of the ILOG-based software application is provided.

Etap przygotowania firmy do wdrożenia zintegrowanej technologii informatycznej wyposażonej w zdolność zasilania menedżerskich procesów decyzyjnych zasobami informacyjnymi systemów informatyki przemysłowej autor wskazuje jako krytyczny dla możliwości wieloaspektowej eksploatacji informacji charakteryzującej techniczne aspekty procesu produkcyjnego przedsiębiorstwa. Ilustruje logikę powiązań zasobów informacyjnych przedsiębiorstwa i przykładowe narzędzie praktycznego sankcjonowania trwałości tych relacji. Problematykę artykułu autor prezentuje na przykładzie kopalni węgla brunatnego. Wybrany podmiot ilustruje przypadek dobrej praktyki przygotowania firmy do wdrożenia wysoko zaawansowanej technologii informatycznej, wykorzystywanej do wspomagania zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem wysokiej specyfiki w warunkach turbulentnego otoczenia oraz konkurencji branżowej na rynku globalnym.
The article focuses on the use information resources of industrial informatics in managerial decision-making processes. The Author emphasizes particularly the multiple aspects of the quality of information generated in industrial informatics systems as well as information deposited in the systems. Technical values of such information are indicated, and its economic and managerial nature is displayed, which is demonstrated by specific examples. The subject matter is dedicated to practitioners of economics who fail to appreciate the economic aspect of technical information, particularly in the process of integrating the enterprise information systems achieved through integrated informatics technology, including the implementation of technologically advanced systems. The Author considers the stage of preparing an enterprise for the implementation of integrated informatics technology, equipped with the capacity to support managerial decision-making processes with industrial informatics resources, as critical to the possible uses of information characteristic for technical aspects of the enterprise production process. The logic of interrelations of the enterprise information resources is shown and a sample tool for practical sanctioning of the lasting nature of such relations is demonstrated. The subject matter of the article is presented in the example of a lignite mine. The entity selected illustrates the case of good practice in preparing an enterprise to the implementation of advanced informatics technology used to support highly specific enterprise management in turbulent environment and competitive global market.

The current study investigated the relationship between organizational safety climate and perceived organizational support. Additionally, it examined the relationship with job satisfaction, worker compliance with safety management policies, and accident frequency. Safety climate and supportive perceptions were assessed with Hayes, Perander, Smecko, et al.’s (1998) and Eisenberger, Fasolo and LaMastro’s (1990) scales respectively. Confirmatory factors analysis confirmed the 5-factor structure of Hayes et al.’s WSS scale. Regression analysis and t-tests indicated that workers with positive perspectives regarding supportive perceptions similarly expressed positive perceptions concerning workplace safety. Furthermore, they expressed greater job satisfaction, were more compliant with safety management policies, and registered lower accident rates. The perceived level of support in an organization is apparently closely associated with workplace safety perception and other organizational and social factors which are important for safety. The results are discussed in light of escalating interest in how organizational factors affect employee safety and supportive perceptions.

Very often we complain about the decisions that were previously made. Yet the fact is that the decisions made were based on the knowledge we had before. By now we have gained more knowledge. Therefore the common problem of making decisions is that decisions are not made reliable enough because parameters in risk assessment and supply chain management are underestimated or not robust enough. In this paper we propose a framework that will try to predict future situations collectively and increase the reliability of decision making. Project management is the art of making right decision. Project managers are faced by huge array of choices. Decision analysis is used in strategic planning, operational management, and other areas of business. Decision analysis helps companies to determine optimal exploration and production strategies with uncertainties in cost, prices, and exploration prospects. This paper describes project management steps and the way they can be supported by Intelligent Decision Support system (IDSS). The main parameters assessed are total cost of the projects, time of the project total fulfilment, number of subcontractors, location factors, and etc. IDSS will enable to collect data, propose possible alternative decisions, and provide risk assessment.

W publikacji opisano oprogramowanie, opracowanie w systemie bazodanowym, wspomagające zarządzanie stanem krów mlecznych. Oprogramowanie charakteryzuje się wieloma funkcjonalnościami, m.in.: jest elektronicznym odpowiednikiem kart krów, obliczanie wielu parametrów związanych z zarządzaniem stadem (np. z laktacją), wyświetlanie w formie graficznej wielu danych, wyświetlanie komunikatów alarmowych o anomaliach, informowanie o pracach do wykonania. Program jest intuicyjny, przy pewnej znajomości obsługi baz danych możliwa jest skuteczna jego modyfikacja i dostosowanie do potrzeb. Do stworzenia programu wykorzystano ogólnie dostępny DBMS - Ms Access.
The publication describes software developed in a database system, supporting milk cow herd management. The software has many functionalities, namely: it is an electronic equivalent of cow cards, it allows to compute many parameters related to herd management (e.g. lactation), to display a lot of data in graphic form, to display alarm messages concerning anomalies, and to provide information on works to be done. The application is intuitive, and users possessing some skills in data base operation may effectively modify and adjust it to their individual needs. Generally available DBMS - MS Access has been used to create this application.

Trust and reputation management is gaining nowadays more attention then ever as online commodity exchange and other open virtual societies became a widespread reality. Most widely used computational models use reputation metrics as global property assigned to each party. More sophisticated models try to use reputation as subjective property. While introducing subjective reputation there arise a need to model preferences of agents. In this paper we propose to use weighted ordered weighted average (WOWA) operator to support the decision maker in assessing available evidence about other's party behavior. The WOWA aggregation is defined by two weighting vectors: the preferential weights assigned to the ordered quantities and the importance weights assigned to several attributes. It allows one to express both the preference regarding sources of information by the corresponding importance weights and the compensation between attribute values aggregated by the preferential weights.
