Opis:: In order to increase the efficiency of implementing the emergency response measures, the emergency response plan drawing up, revision and implementation at oil production enterprises, it is expedient to use an analogue of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, which generates an interactive mode that allows interaction with the person in charge for localizing and eliminating the consequences of accidents that negatively affect, inter alia, the environmental situation. The SCADA system was developed on the basis of the approved document "Emergency Response Plan" and provides for data exchange with the automated systems of the enterprise to form a complete description of the situation for the person in charge for localizing and eliminating the consequences of accidents. The automated system application software was developed using high-level programming languages (Embarcadero Delphi or analogues) and technologies for direct access to the Oracle database management system. The use of an automated system is feasible for large enterprises of the extractive and processing industries with the possibility of integration into the automated Manufacturing Execution System (MES-systems) of an enterprise.

Opis:: Teams of scientific specialists have replaced independent researchers, simultaneously the research team size has increased by 50% over the 19‑year period. Better collaborations between project team members might improve research outcomes or R&D project products. Knowledge needs to be communicated among a research team effectively and shared among all research team members as it is created collaboratively. Collaboration can be successfully supported by providing a knowledge sharing environment and communication facilities. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the feasibility and discuss novel communication among scientists using a content management system (CMS) which operates based on the Software‑as‑a‑Service (SaaS) cloud‑computing model. This study presents the use of CMS for the collaboration of a research team carrying out a research project funded by the Polish National Science Centre.
Zespoły badawcze coraz częściej zastępują niezależnych badaczy. W ciągu 19 lat wielkość zespołu badawczego wzrosła o 50%. Lepsza współpraca między członkami zespołu badawczego może poprawić wyniki badań lub produkt projektu badawczo‑rozwojowego. W zespole badawczym wiedza – jeżeli jest tworzona wspólnie – musi być skutecznie przekazywana i rozpowszechniona między wszystkich jego członków. Współpraca badaczy może być z powodzeniem wspierana przez zapewnienie odpowiedniego środowiska wymiany wiedzy i udogodnień komunikacyjnych. Celem tego artykułu jest przedstawienie sposobu dzielenia się informacją w zespole badawczym przy wykorzystaniu systemu zarządzania treścią (CMS), działającego na podstawie rozwiązania chmurowego w modelu oprogramowania jako usługi (SaaS). Przedstawiono w nim także wykorzystanie CMS do wsparcia współpracy zespołu badawczego realizującego projekt badawczy finansowany przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki.

Opis:: The paper is aimed at presenting a model of transition from quality management systems to knowledge management systems in software developing organizations. The methodology focuses on presenting components of the model of transition from quality management systems to knowledge management systems. The paper defines the model of transition from the quality management systems conformable with series 9000 ISO international standards supplemented with ISO/IEC 90003:2004 to knowledge management systems. The model consists of four processes and five elements treated as the results of the process implementation. The paper demonstrates how quality system elements can be useful in the implementation of knowledge management system processes, such as localisation and the acquisition of knowledge.

Opis:: This paper addresses issues associated with the global optimization algorithms, which are methods to find optimal solutions for given problems. It focuses on an integrated software environment - global optimization object-oriented library (GOOL), which provides the graphical user interface together with the library of solvers for convex and nonconvex, unconstrained and constrained problems. We describe the design, performance and possible applications of the GOOL system. The practical example - price management problem - is provided to illustrate the effectiveness and range of applications of our software tool.

Opis:: Zarządzanie ryzykiem w (standardowym) modelu scrum realizowane jest tylko w sposób niejawny. Z przeglądu literatury przeprowadzonego przez autorów wynika, że brakuje podejść ilościowych do jawnego zarządzania ryzykiem w środowisku scrum. Prezentowane rozważania mają służyć ustaleniu, czy możliwe jest zarządzanie ryzykiem zgodnie z metodyką scrum w sposób ilościowy, na podstawie jawnej informacji o ryzyku podawanej w sposób lingwistyczny, a także przeanalizowanie zalet takiego podejścia. W artykule opracowana została także koncepcja umożliwiająca kwantyfikację określonych rodzajów ryzyka w sprincie. Prezentowane podejście ułatwia adaptację planu sprintu, w którym na wyjściu zwracany jest zbiór możliwych akcji naprawczych. Akcje te są skwantyfikowane pod kątem kryterium wartości biznesowej dla klienta, które określa się mianem wartości sprintu (ang. sprint value). Proponowane podejście zostało zaprezentowane wraz z przykładem ilustracyjnym. Z przeprowadzonych badań, wypełniających wspomnianą lukę badawczą, wynika, że w metodyce scrum można zastosować ilościowe zarządzanie ryzykiem, na podstawie jawnej informacji o ryzyku podawanej na wejściu w formie wyrażeń lingwistycznych.
Risk management in (standard) Scrum is handled only implicitly. The authors’ literature review shows that there is a lack of quantitative approaches to explicit risk management in Scrum. The aim of this work is to analyze whether it is possible to manage risk in Scrum in a quantitative way, based on explicit risk information provided in a linguistic form as well as analyzing the advantages of this approach. A concept enabling the quantification of risks in a Sprint has been developed. The approach presented in the article makes it easier to adapt a Sprint plan. In this approach, a set of possible corrective actions of the plan are returned as an output. These actions are quantified in terms of the criterion of business value for the Customer, which is called the Sprint Value. The approach is presented on an illustrative example. The research fills the research gap that was mentioned above. Based on the research conducted, it was found that quantitative risk management can be used in Scrum, based on explicit risk information provided in a form of linguistic expressions.

Flexible radios appear as the technological answer required to achieve constraint goals under different channel conditions and transmission scenarios. This paper is focused on enhancing another step of flexibility within the resource management by including an efficient handling of computing resources. This concept towards flexible architectures represents a key word for a real successful implementation due to the relationship between the radio applications, which face the scarcity of resources within a heterogeneous environment, and the processing power needed to execute them.

Opis:: Purpose: The execution of the processes of HR in organizations is closely connected with technological progress, which has a significant impact on the way of managing the work of employees. The aim of this paper is to present research relating to the identification of modern IT tools that support the processes of HR in the chosen enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: Interviews were used as a research tool, which were aimed at the employees of HR departments in 8 enterprises. Findings: As the analysis of the interviews indicates, the emerging new tools for the enhancement of the management of the work of employees are becoming more recognizable among personnel specialists and are implemented in their organizations. The inquisitiveness in this area on the part of the HR employees precedes the tools implemented (this is confirmed by the responses relating to the acquisition of information on one’s own and later presenting the propositions of their implementation in a specific organization) Research limitations/implications: The research findings illustrated in this paper constitute a pilot study for the preparation of an application for an international research project. This also gives rise to the awareness of the existing limitations in the research conducted. Practical implications: In the future, it would be worth acquiring HR information from a greater number of organizations that are differentiated in terms of sectors. Originality/value: The article deals with a relatively rare topic in the national literature – the software for HR departments was compared.

Opis:: The HR departments in IT companies usually define for their employees opportunities for promotion or retraining. This results from the goals to adapt workers’ skills to the company requirements on the one hand and the needs to meet the aspirations of employees on the other. The article focuses on the issue of developers transitions to the management positions, in particular that of the project manager. The study examines the issue of employee competencies definitions and careers building in IT companies. The studies present developers views on the competencies of project managers. The position of IT companies regarding soft skills of software developers and project managers is investigated based on published job offers. In the conclusions some proposals for HR departments and developers are given regarding transition from software developer to project management positions.

Opis:: Wytwarzanie oprogramowania to rynek, który w Polsce jest szacowany na 6 mld złotych. Duża dynamika i rozwój tej grupy projektów informatycznych sprawia, że przedsiębiorstwa szukają rozwiązań pozwalających budować długofalową przewagę konkurencyjną. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza specyfiki projektów wytwarzania oprogramowania w odniesieniu do czynników wpływających na budowę przewagi konkurencyjnej. W pierwszej części omówiono specyfikę projektów wytwarzania oprogramowania. Następnie przedstawiono proces badań empirycznych oraz zaprezentowano uzyskane wyniki. Badania mają charakter pilotażowy i stanowią podstawę do kontynuacji badań nad podjętą problematyką badawczą.
Polish software development market is estimated at 6 billion PLN. This demanding and dynamic sector forces companies to look for solutions that allow building a long-term competitive advantage. The purpose of this article is to analyze the specificity of software development projects in relation to factors affecting the construction of competitive advantage. The first part of the article will discuss the specificity of software development projects. The empirical research process and the presentation of the results are presented in the next part. The results presented in the paper are regarded as pilot research and constitute the foundations for further research on these issues.

Nowe oprogramowanie umożliwi najlepsze wykorzystanie posiadanych zasobów, przy równoczesnej optymalizacji środowiska informatycznego. Ułatwi też dostosowanie warunków składowania nowych naukowych baz wiedzy, powstających w zakładach badawczych Instytutu. System pozwoli w sposób optymalny zarządzać infrastrukturą informatyczną Instytutu oraz efektywnie wykorzystywać czas pracowników IT.
The paper presents a range of functionality of a copyright application, the main objective of which was to create an information database and the database management system. The system was developed for the implementation of strategies to optimize sharing of resources stored in diverse databases operating at the Institute. The other functionality is optimal server power allocation for computing tasks performed by individual departments. The new software will allow the best use of available resources, combined with simultaneous environment optimization. It will make possible adaptation of the storage conditions to the new scientific knowledge databases created in research departments of the Foundry Research Institute.The system will enable optimum management of the Institute IT infrastructure and fully efficient use of the IT staff work time.

Opis:: The paper concerns advanced risk management in the security domain. This approach is based not only on the traditional risk assessment, but also on the financial cost-benefits analysis and on the identification of hidden, non-financial factors, which may harm the operations of security measures in the operational environment. The paper is related to the FP7 ValueSec project and presents its background, methodology and results. Special focus is placed on the cost-benefits assessment (CBA) of the proposed security measures. Cost and benefits categories are discussed along with the operation of the CBA component. The elaborated toolset is used to support decision makers in different security domains.
Artykuł dotyczy ilościowych metod zarządzania ryzykiem, pozwalających na uwzględnienie w formie pieniężnej kosztów zabezpieczeń oraz korzyści związanych z redukcją ryzyka, uzyskiwanych w wyniku wdrożenia zabezpieczeń. Pokazano przykład zastosowania analizy kosztów-korzyści w projekcie FP 7 ValueSec zrealizowanym z udziałem Instytutu EMAG oraz zamierzenia wykorzystania tego podejścia w aktualnie realizowanym projekcie CIRAS (EPCIP) poświęconym zarządzaniu ryzykiem w infrastrukturach krytycznych. Przedstawiona została przykładowa struktura kosztów i korzyści oraz mierniki efektywności analizowanych rozwiązań. Artykuł przedstawia moduł analizy kosztów-korzyści na tle całego systemu ValueSec, obejmującego także szacowanie ryzyka oraz ocenę czynników pozaekonomicznych, ograniczających efektywność zabezpieczeń.

Opis:: The variety of solutions supporting operations of a knowledge-based organization tends to conduct research in the area of the applicability of software agents. Software agents allow, thanks to the defined mechanisms of representation of knowledge, the promotion of knowledge between employees of the organization and help to support business activities such as customer service and promoting the brand. In this article we will present a list of issues concerning interviews conducted with companies involved in the design and implementation of such solutions.
