Opis:
The waste management system in health care is a tool that allows to conduct reasonable steps to reduce their amount, collection, storage and transport, and provide a high level of utilization or disposal. Logistics solutions in waste management are intended to make full use of the infrastructure and technical resources, optimize costs, ensure the safety and health at work and meet legal requirements. The article discusses the elements of the logistics system of waste management in hospital, necessary to ensure the smooth flow of waste from its origin to landfilling. The following criteria were characterized: technical and technological, ecological and economic that can be used in the analysis and evaluation of solutions in waste management in the hospital. Finally, solutions to improve waste management system in the hospital on the example of the real object have been presented.

Tax policy is associated with the use and application of taxes and their instruments, which serve to influence macroeconomic and microeconomic processes in the economy. We can derive the tax policy from the applied economic policy of the state. The objectives of economic policy are aimed in particular at strengthening the effectiveness of the market mechanism, reducing pension and property inequality, as well as strengthening the internal and external stability of the state. In securing them, the state must take into account many internal, as well as international aspects, focused not only on economic but also on political, social, defenses, ethical and other interests. The individual goals that the state sets by its economic policy can be effectively achieved through goal-oriented policies that form part of economic policy. The state’s social policy, unemployment policy, tax policy, etc. fulfil their role. These policies then have a retroactive effect on the economic policy of the state. The subject or goal of tax policy is the application of tax principles and measures so that taxes serve to promote the economic, social and political goals of the state.

Within the boundaries of many municipal urbanized areas, large grounds are found, from which the noise is emitted into the environment, surrounded by the regions liable to acoustic protection. Such a condition generates many problems including also those ones related to the lack of the fulfillment of requirements concerning environmental protection against excessive noise. Therefore the aim of vital importance is the proper management of municipal grounds, both in view of the investment in policy steering, especially of new investments, and in the case of activities aimed at maintaining or restoring (revitalizing) the acoustic properties on the grounds that have already been used or simply degraded before. Keeping the scale of the problem in mind, such activities must be carried on not temporarily, but must have a systemic character. The structure of every system is characterized by the appropriate relationships among their elements and the properties of those relationships. In case of the noise management system, the elements of such a system are the activities connected with the management itself that are the actions which rely on specifying the aims and causing their realization within the scope and on the grounds subject to the managing entity. The superior aim of such activities should be to supply the tools for improvement of management and in the process of taking decisions that relate to investments including the of optimization conditions and maintenance of socio-economic importance of such areas.

The aim of the article is to analyze the impact of effective time management on the performance of workstations in the context of the conflict between maximizing workstation utilization and minimizing the number of items waiting in the queue. The article utilized the FlexSim program to build a simulation model of the workstation and conducted optimization using the built-in optimizer. The research demonstrated that effective time management has a positive impact on workstation performance by reducing the number of items waiting in the queue, leading to increased throughput and reduced delays in production processes. An important aspect of the analysis was the application of a multi-criteria optimization approach, which allowed for achieving a balance between maximizing workstation utilization and minimizing the number of items waiting. Multi-criteria optimization considers diverse goals and decision criteria, leading to a more comprehensive approach to optimizing production processes. As a result, effective time management on workstations, based on analysis and multi-criteria optimization, can significantly improve the efficiency and performance of production processes. This analysis can be a valuable tool for organizations seeking to optimize their processes and achieve a competitive advantage in the market. The analysis conducted in the article confirms that effective time management has a beneficial impact on workstation performance. The use of a multi-criteria approach in optimization enables achieving a balance between various decision factors. The presented simulation model and research results can be useful for decision-makers in the manufacturing field who aim to make more informed decisions regarding planning and optimizing production processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

The main objective of the text is to try to carry out the analysis with the predominant objective to try and present in realistic way the factors influencing the choice between a service realised only with the use of a road transport and intermodal transport. The author of the analysis put particular stress on the costs of the carriage service, time of its realisation and CO2 emission. The analysis also aimed at showing which of the presented technologies of service providing is more friendly to natural environment. This is due to the fact that the market for intermodal transport and road transport in Poland, knowledge of the mechanisms of price formation and the costs are still low. It is often difficult to determine the unit price of transport modes or mechanisms of shaping them. This results primarily from difficulties with the calculation of the actual cost of transport, terminal operations, management and other issues occurring in road transport and intermodal logistics functions.

Increasing demand for transport of goods exerts negative influence on the environment. Therefore most European countries divide realization of transportation of commodities between various transport branches by using so-called intermodal transport. Therefore it seems reasonable to carry out an analysis with the predominant objective to try and present in realistic way the factors influencing the choice between a service realized only with the use of a road transport and intermodal transport. The author of the analysis put particular stress on the costs of the carriage service, time of its realization and CO2 emission. The analysis also aimed at showing which of the presented technologies of service providing is more friendly to natural environment. The results obtained from the comparison of intermodal and road transport for a given distance enable stating that effectiveness of railway-road transport is influenced by 22% lower internal costs than the ones of road transport and by lower emission of carbon dioxide.

This paper addresses issues associated with the global optimization algorithms, which are methods to find optimal solutions for given problems. We describe the design, performance and possible applications of the GOOL system. The article concerns the nature of the application of the lean IT conception to optimize business processes and organization’s IT infrastructure. The development of the lean manufacturing conception and its real positive impact on the functioning of the company became the justification for the implementation of the lean principles and tools to all areas of the organizations including software engineering and information technology. The dynamic development of IT becomes both reason and opportunity for effective elimination of waste emerging in business processes. Analysis of trends and directions of IT development allow to advance a thesis that the rationalization and optimization of IT processes using the tools and techniques of lean IT will be a priority issue for the coming years. The developed lean implementation model leads to increased application productivity, reduced defects and shortened solutions delivery time.
Artykuł poświęcony jest analizie możliwości wykorzystania koncepcji lean IT do celów optymalizacji procesów biznesowych i infrastruktury informatycznej organizacji. Rozwój koncepcji lean manufacturing oraz jej realnie pozytywny wpływ na funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw stał się uzasadnieniem implementacji zasad i narzędzi lean do wszystkich obszarów działalności organizacji, w tym inżynierii oprogramowania i technologii informatycznych. Dynamiczny rozwój IT staje się równolegle motywem i szansą na realnie skuteczną eliminację powstających w procesach biznesowych marnotrawstw. Analiza trendów oraz kierunków rozwoju IT pozwala wysunąć tezę, iż racjonalizacja i optymalizacja procesów informatycznych z wykorzystaniem technik i narzędzi lean będzie priorytetowym zagadnieniem na najbliższe lata. Opracowany model wdrażania koncepcji lean prowadzi do zwiększenia produktywności aplikacji, zmniejszenia błędów oraz skrócenia czasu dostawy rozwiązania.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie problematyki związanej z gospodarowaniem odpadami oraz próby optymalizacji gospodarki odpadami w przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym Gumres. Aby zrealizować to zamierzenie, wykorzystano dane z dokumentów przedsiębiorstwa, obejmujących zakres ewidencji odpadów, oraz z informacji uzyskanych podczas wywiadu pogłębionego. Ponadto autorzy dokonali przeglądu literatury dotyczącej rozważanego tematu. Przedstawiono zagadnienie odpadów w ujęciu teoretycznym, a także prawne aspekty gospodarowania odpadami. W szczególności opisano organizację gospodarki odpadami. Zasadnicza część artykułu poświęcona jest badaniom własnym dotyczącym procesu modernizacji gospodarki odpadami w wybranym przedsiębiorstwie. Zaprezentowano profil firmy, wskazano identyfikację powstających odpadów oraz propozycję modernizacji gospodarki odpadami. W ostatniej części opracowania wyszczególniono działania naprawcze o charakterze optymalizacyjnym i wnioski końcowe.
The aim of this article is to present the issues related to waste management and the attempts of the manufacturing company Gumres to optimize waste management. In order to achieve this goal, data were used from the company’s documents covering waste records and from information obtained during an in-depth interview. In addition, the authors reviewed the literature on waste management. Waste was presented in theoretical terms and the legal aspects of waste management were also considered. The organization of waste management is described. The main part of the article is devoted to the authors’ own research on the process of modernization of waste management in a selected company. The profile of the selected company is presented, the identification of the waste generated and the proposal for modernization of waste management are indicated. In the last part of the paper, corrective measures to optimize waste management and final conclusions are detailed.

This article presents an integrated approach to optimize the different functions in a supply chain on strategic tactical and operational levels. The integrated supply chain model has been formulated as a cost minimization problem in the form of MILP (Mixed Integer Linear Programming). The costs of production, transport, distribution and environmental protection were adopted as optimization criteria. Timing, volume, capacity and mode of transport were also taken into account. The model was implemented in the LINGO package. The implementation model and the numerical tests are presented and discussed. The numerical experiments were carried out using sample data to show the possibilities of practical decision support and optimization of the supply chain.

Recently, there has been a significant development of ecological propulsion systems, which is in line with the general trend of environmentally friendly “green shipping”. The main aim is to build a safe, low-energy passenger ship with a highly efficient, emission-free propulsion system. This can be achieved in a variety of ways. The article presents the main problems encountered by designers and constructors already at the stage of designing the unit. The research conducted made it possible to create a design with an effective shape of the hull, with the prospect of an energy-efficient and safe propulsion system with good manoeuvrability. The scope of the research included towing tank tests, recalculation of the results in full-scale objects and a prediction of the energy demand of the propulsion system. The results obtained were compared to indicate power supply variants depending on the hull shape.

The aim of the study was to determine an effective variant of operation of the Golina polder to reduce flood hazard in the Warta River valley. We implemented a trial-and-error method for the development of computational variants. Our approach was based on staged analyses of alternatives, which took into account different locations and parameters of the inlet and outlet-controlling structures. Various control scenarios for flooding and draining the polder were also considered. A hybrid hydrodynamic model consisting of a 1D part for the main river area and a 2D part for the polder area was used for calculations. The model was built based on a digital elevation model (1 m resolution) and channel sections of the Warta River. The calibration was based on data collected during the flood in 2010 from the water gauge Sławsk (located directly at the Warta River) and water surface elevation measurements carried out in the polder area. Alternatives in subsequent stages were determined based on the results of previous stages, as well as experiences from the 2010 flood and consultations with the Regional Water Management Board in Poznań. The performance of the alternatives was evaluated according to six criteria that described the effectiveness of the polder operation in terms of its practical use and effectiveness in reducing flood hazard. The results showed that our approach made it possible to identify an effective variant of polder operation. Additional calculations were also performed to determine the magnitude of flows for which flooding of the polder should be considered to reduce downstream flooding.

The current market situation forces companies to continuous research and implementation of best solutions, which are designed to ensure their further growth, or at least avoid being left behind by the competitors. Valuable solutions provide a modern and popular management concepts, of which a lot to offer has Outsourcing. The essence of this article is theoretical present, by reviewing the literature, the most significant knowledge of that concept of management. The article contains the information about its origin and the methodology. The beginnings of outsourcing can be traced back to the 60th years of the twentieth century. The term "outsourcing" comes from the English: outside-resource-using (use of external resources). Outsourcing is to delegate a specific functions of enterprise to be done by external organizations. The main reasons for outsourcing are: reduce and control costs, increase focus on the core business and obtain resources, which the company currently does not have. In practice, we can distinguish the following main types of outsourcing: function's delegations, outsourcing of service, insourcing, cosourcing, gain sharing. The process of outsourcing is divided into three phases: preliminary analysis, research (and detailed studies) and implementation. Preliminary analysis phase consists of analysis and evaluation of strategic determinants of separation and evaluations of susceptibility to separation. Phase of research involves meticulous study and analysis of the determinants of separation and the development of realization solutions. Implementation phase consists of the implementation of designed and adopted solutions. Modern management concepts form the basis of universal knowledge, and that might be worthwhile at every stage of business.

Observation shows that there is a serious problem regarding inventory management in manufacturing organizations, particularly in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This has prompted the desire to embark on a study that will examine the problem and strive to proffer useful suggestions. This paper intends to bring to the fore the salient issue of inefficiency in the practice of inventory management and its effects on production operations of manufacturing concerns. Survey design was used with the application of random sampling technique in selection of units within the case study areas. Primary data were collected through the use of structured questionnaires and the analysis was done using Pearson correlation coefficient and frequency counts and percentages to give adequate descriptions. The study concluded that efficient management of stock would be achieved through determination of stock levels, engagement of skilled store personnel, and the use of automated stock control. It went further to assert that the achievement of optimal use of resources through efficiency in the management of stock will eliminate the problems of sudden lack of stock; the resultant low capacity utilization, loss of production time, and thereby improving overall efficiency of the manufacturing SMEs and breed high performing entrepreneurs.

Since the losses functional magnitude is a random variable, then it was considered the value of losses on a significance level α (losses probability).It was shown decision existence which minimized expected losses. The problem has practical application in coal mining, occasional transportation and other business projects associated with the possibility of life losses.

The paper presents resource allocation optimization in Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM). The cheapest project schedule is searched with respect to time constraints. The algorithm originally developed for the hardware-software co-design of heterogeneous distributed systems is adapted to work with human resources and CCPM method. The results of the optimization showed significant efficiency of the algorithm in comparison with a greedy algorithm. On average, the optimization gives 14.10% of cost reduction using the same number of resources. The gain varies depending on the number of resources and the time constraints. Advantages and disadvantages of such an approach are also discussed.

The authors present modifications of the optimization model for selecting project risk response strategies proposed by Zhang and Fan. The weaknesses of the original model has been identified and an improved model with the main suggestions has been proposed. The main improvement concerned the objective function. The modified model was tested using a real project in the electrical industry – engineering and construction of the main low voltage switchboard for a live fish carrier (Helix Q7000) in Norway. Project team members report that the analysis is time consuming but results are satisfying – the model allows more systematic and efficient risk management.
