Opis:
Portrait of Herodotus in the light of Plutarch’s treatise De Herodoti malignitate As a Platonist and moralist Plutarch paid particular attention truth. No wonder that in his reference to Herodotus’ Histories he took into consideration the issue of historical truth, which was for him very important - both in its ethical as well as didactic aspect. In his De Herodoti malignitate the Chaeronean moralist is concerned with truth as well as with offering moral uplift. Plutarch presents Herodotus as a perfidious liar who falsely presented such famous and heroic Greeks as Miltiades, Leonidas, Themistocles or Pausanias and - above all - depreciatingly treated the Boeotians and Corinthians. Moreover, Plutarch accuses the historian of Halicarnassus of being malicious (κακοήθεια). For him Herodotus’ lies were deliberate and slandering. Herodotus was also a blasphemer, a pro-barbarian historian; a man who disregarded women. Finally, we get the Plutarchan portrait of Herodotus himself as a blunt barbarian (ὁ ἔσχατος Καρῶν). Such a presentation of Herodotus seems to attest to Plutarch’s own prejudices, if not wickedness. By the same, however, one must take into consideration the literary tradition in which the whole treatise is rooted. So De Herodoti malignitate contains features of historical polemics and is an example of judicial rhetoric, in which the biographer attempts at persuading his readers that his charges against Herodotus are well justified. The treatise is a work representing the new intellectual trend, the so-called Second Sophistic; a polemic written in a period when the Greek intellectuals were deeply engaged in taking issues with past writers. Moreover, a fundamental aspect of De Herodoti malignitate should be taken into account - truth which is analyzed from a moral and psychological perspective. Although a leading motif of the treatise is truthfulness, the direct subject-matter of Plutarch’s considerations remains a lie, or - to put it exactly - lying. Accordingly, the Boeotian moralist singles out and analyses all the fundamental forms of lying. A suitable interpretation of the treatise De Herodoti malignitate depends thus on our knowledge of the cultural distance between Herodotus and Plutarch, although both authors were the representatives of Greek prosa.

Opis:
The site of Świerszczów 28 was discovered in 2012 during field works connected with the construction of the Hrubieszów ring-road. The site is located on the border between Horodło Bar (Grzęda Horodelska) and Hrubieszów Basin (Kotlina Hrubieszowska). As a result of excavations, 221 non-portable features were found, of which 81 were dated based on artefacts found in their fills. The oldest phase of settlement is represented by artefacts connected with the Rzeszów phase of the Malice culture. Nine features yielded a series of 66 fragments of vessels (the majority of them were found in one feature, i.e. pit no. 243–53 sherds) which, in terms of technology, belong to the category of medium- or thick-walled pottery. Pottery forms represent vessel types typical of the Malice culture: biconical vessels – both pots and amphorae, profiled bowls and beakers on hollow feet. Vessels were decorated with ornamentation motives arranged in horizontal bands. The most typical ornaments were notches (corrugations), fingernails notches, “pinched” impressions and fingertips imprints. Knobs and plastic belts also appeared. Flint artefacts are represented by only 11 specimens. Two of them merit particular attention: an end-scraper with an oval front from feature no. 243 and a blade found in the layer of humus. Nine artefacts were made of Volhynian flint, the remaining two are burnt. The traces of the Malice culture occupation at Świerszczów 28 site are connected with a small settlement. The analyzed collection of artefacts is linked with the oldest segment of the Rzeszów phase (IIa) of the Malice culture, connected with trans-Carpathian influences from the proto-Tiszapolgár culture and phase A of the Tiszapolgár culture, which in terms of absolute chronology corresponds to the last quarter of the fourth millennium BC.

The article presents issues associated with determining the relationship between the offences specified in Article 107 of the Code of Misdemeanors and the crime of stalking from Article 190a § 1 of the Penal Code, and other types of crimes characterized by the violation of the mental peace of the victim. These acts intersect each other, and the borderline between them is determined primarily by the intensity of the perpetrator’s actions.

Opis:
Mistaken identity and bad aim have been traditionally accepted as the two textbook situations where the doctrine of transferred malice has found application. By reference to a cross-section of academic sources as well as case law from a number of common law jurisdictions, three core elements of transferred malice are identified: the intent of the defendant, the consequence that befalls the unintended victim, and public intuitions with regard to resulting harm. The overarching conclusion of the considerations consists in reaffirming the role of factual contingencies in deciding cases as well as the existence of a significant policy element which has caused, the paper submits, judges to subsume under the umbrella term of transferred malice cases which could satisfactorily be explained by means of other legal concepts, most notably remoteness, foreseeability or negligence.

The article presents the results of test excavations at three sites in the early Neolithic settlement region of Targowisko, carried out in 2018–2019. The goal of these investigations was the detection of fragments of Neolithic settlement zones where only one building phase has survived. It was decided to perform this task using a magnetometer as part of a slightly wider program of geomagnetic prospection. The second goal was to acquire sets of arti- and ecofacts related to the shortest possible period of time, i.e. equal to the existence of one family living in one house, representing one cultural tradition. The third goal was to explain the generators and mechanisms of early Neolithic cultural transformation from a micro-regional perspective

Opis:
The article discusses the effectiveness of geomagnetic prospection in detecting such parts of the early-Neolithic settlements areas in the vicinity of the village of Targowisko in which traces of only one building phase have survived. The purpose of the surveying programme was to obtain assemblages of artefacts and ecofacts related to a period of time that would be as short as possible, i.e. to the existence of a single family living in one house, representing a single cultural tradition, without any older or younger materials. It was assumed that this objective could only be achieved on the boundaries of settlements inhabited over longer periods of time (cf. Grygiel 1986). Thus, the geomagnetic prospection was carried out in selected target areas covering northern or southern edges of large settlements of the Linear Pottery (LBK) culture and the Malice culture (MC), which had already been thoroughly surveyed as part of rescue excavations at the early-Neolithic settlement complex of Targowisko, in connection with the construction of highway A-4, approx. 30 km east of Cracow (Fig. 1). The results of the geomagnetic survey made it possible to demarcate zones, each having an area of 10 ares, at three sites for the purpose of confirming the validity of the planned research strategy. The test excavations at sites 16 and 14–15 in Targowisko and at site 40 in Brzezie met the expectations, yielding assemblages of artefacts from narrow time horizons. They will become the core of works on the reconstruction of cultural transformation micro-processes at the confluence of the LBK culture and the MC.

Opis:
The article presents flint materials obtained from domestic facilities from the late phase of Linienbandkeramik from the Brzezie 40 and Targowisko 16 sites and the classic phase of the Malice culture from the 14–15 Targowisko site. These complexes contain relatively few monuments. Their advantage, however, is that they belong to chronologically compact groups. Since the relics of the discovered houses are spatially isolated from other settlement structures, it can be assumed that the set of flint artifacts belonging to them is relatively homogeneous. Thanks to this, they can contribute considerably to the discussion on the processes of cultural heterogenization and the origin of post-LBK cultures, including the Malice culture.

Opis:
Visual kei is a name defining the style of dress, specific makeup, fancy hairstyle, specific type of music, diversity, freedom, mixing and combining genres. It is also  creaton of yourself, something more than just role playing, theatralization or the desire to stand out in the crowd - it is a lifestyle inspired by the inexhaustible source of possibilities. The following article is focused on the Gothic variation of Visual kei, created by the popular musician Mana. He created a new world that quickly inspired fans of the genre, combined with Japanese alternative music (j-rock) and gothic inspirations. He also created a recognizable image that fans can easily take over (Lolita Fashion style). Moreover, I would like to point out how the receception of the Visual kei in Poland looks like. Why is this trend not so popular? Is Visual kei only a musical fusion or just a specific image? Or maybe the current reception is difficult because of the fact that lot of changes have occurred within the visual kei itself - sometimes it is hard to tell what specific kei style the band is presenting and whether it is still a particular style of music or just a peculiar image.
Visual kei to nazwa określająca styl ubioru, specyficzny makijaż, wymyślną fryzurę, specyficzny rodzaj muzyki, różnorodność, dowolność, mieszanie i łączenie gatunków.
