Opis:
This paper considers properties of half-normal distribution using informative priors under the Bayesian criterion. It employs the squared root inverted gamma, Chi-square and Rayleigh distributions as the prior distribution to construct the Posterior distributions of the respective distributional parameters. Hyperparameters are elicited via prior predictive distribution. The properties of posterior distribution are studied, and their graphs are presented using a real data set. A comprehensive simulation scheme is conducted using informative priors. Bayes estimates are obtained using the loss functions (squared error loss function, modified loss function, quadratic loss function and Degroot loss function). Statistical inferences interval estimates and Bayesian hypothesis testing are presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the study.

Opis:
Feeder reconfiguration (FR), capacitor placement and sizing (CPS) are the two renowned methods widely applied by the researchers for loss minimization with node voltage enrichment in the electrical distribution network (EDN), which has an immense impact on economic savings. In recent years, optimization of FR and CPS together can proficiently yield better power loss minimization and save costs compared to the individual optimization of FR and CPS. This work proposes an application of an improved salp swarm optimization technique based on weight factor (ISSOT-WF) to solve the cost-based objective function using CPS with and without FR for five different cases and three load levels, subject to satisfying operating constraints. In addition, to ascertain the impact of real power injection on additional power loss reduction, this work considers the integration of dispersed generation units at three optimal locations in capacitive compensated optimal EDN. The effectiveness of ISSOT-WF has been demonstrated on the standard PG&E-69 bus system and the outcomes of the 69-bus test case have been validated by comparing with other competing algorithms. Using FR and CPS at three optimal nodes and due to power loss reduction, cost-saving reached up to a maximum of 71%, and a maximum APLR of 26% was achieved after the installation of DGs at three optimal locations with the significant improvement in the bus voltage profile.

In this paper, we studied estimators based on an interval shrinkage with equal weights point shrinkage estimators for all individual target points θ¯ ∈ (θ0, θ1) for exponentially distributed observations in the presence of outliers drawn from a uniform distribution. Estimators obtained from both shrinkage and interval shrinkage were compared, showing that the estimators obtained via the interval shrinkage method perform better. Symmetric and asymmetric loss functions were also used to calculate the estimators. Finally, a numerical study and illustrative examples were provided to describe the results.

Opis:
The exponentiated Gompertz (EGZ) distribution has been recently used in almost all areas of human endeavours, starting from modelling lifetime data to cancer treatment. Various applications and properties of the EGZ distribution are provided by Anis and De (2020). This paper explores the important properties of the EGZ distribution under Bayesian discipline using two informative priors: the Gamma Prior (GP) and the Inverse Levy Prior (ILP). This is done in the framework of five selected loss functions. The findings show that the two best loss functions are the Weighted Balance Loss Function (WBLF) and the Quadratic Loss Function (QLF). The usefulness of the model is illustrated by the use of reallife data in relation to simulated data. The empirical results of the comparison are presented through a graphical illustration of the posterior distributions.

Opis:
Smart Grid is a concept for transforming the electric power grid by using advanced automatic control and communications techniques and other forms of information technology. It integrates innovative tools and technologies from: generation, transmission and distribution. This also includes consumer appliances and equipment. This concept integrates energy infrastructure, processes, devices, information and markets into a coordinated and collaborative process. All allowing energy to be generated, distributed and consumed flexibly and efficiently. However, the Smart Grid with the integration of distributed generation itself also creates a several disadvantages. There can be problems with: stability and reliability, relay protection, isolation and operational isolation in which the problem is to create a burden on the distribution grid when transmitting electrical energy sources. Optimizing power flow and bringing high operating efficiency on Smart Grid conditions is an urgent issue. This paper focuses on researching and proposing solutions for optimal calculation of power flow on Smart Grid. The paper has researched, and analyzed calculation solutions to optimize power flow and proposed to use the Lagrange multiplier method. The study performed calculations for a typical Smart Grid model with three distributed generations. Calculation results have shown that the role of the method is to fully perform the optimal calculation of the power flow on the grid. This is in order to reduce power loss and energy loss as well as increasing operational efficiency while improving power quality in Smart Grid conditions.

Opis:
In this research, the most appropriate probability distribution function for modelling RF signal path loss values in both wet and dry season months over urban, suburban and rural environments of Ondo State are presented. The data used consist of a drive test measurement campaign carried out in a typical urban, suburban and rural areas of Ondo State, South-western Nigeria in both wet and dry season months. The received signal strength (RSS) values were collected and recorded in log files alongside other environmental parameters using TEMS investigation tools. Path loss values were deduced from the measured RSS values. Some selected probability distribution function namely: gamma, lognormal, extreme value, logistic, Weibull and normal distributions function were fitted to the measured path loss values and the best suited one determined using three different metric measures. Results obtained show that normal distribution presents the best probability distribution curve for modelling the RF signal path loss over different micro-cellular environments of Ondo State. A typical result of the rural environment indicates that in wet season months, the normal distribution has RMSE of 7.060 dB, Relative Error of 12.480 % and R2 of 0.988, in dry season months, the RMSE is 9.060 dB, Relative Error of 13.450 % and R2 of 0.985. When compared with other distribution models, the same trend could be seen in other environments, although with different values of RMSE, Relative error and R2. The mean and the standard deviation parameters for the normal distribution estimated, vary seasonal-wise and are environment dependent. However, the rural environment exhibited a wider seasonal variations when compared with the other environments. The results of this research is useful as a first-hand information in the planning of future wireless propagation channels in the studied environments.

In the paper, we investigate a single-server queueing system with unlimited memory space and non-homogeneous customers (calls) of the two following types: 1) external customers that are served by the system under consideration, 2) internal customers that arrive and interrupt the service process only when an external customer is being served. The external customers appear according to a stationary Poisson process. Customers of each of the above-mentioned types are characterized by some random volume. The customer service time depends arbitrarily on its volume. Two schemes of customer service organization are analyzed. The non-stationary and stationary distributions of the total volume of customers present in the system are determined in terms of Laplace and Laplace-Stieltjes transforms. The stationary first and second moments of total customers volume are also calculated. The obtained results are used to approximate loss characteristics in analogous systems with limited buffer space. Numerical examples illustrating theoretical results are attached as well.

Opis:
Finite mixtures of probability distributions may be successfully used in the modeling of probability distributions of losses. These distributions are typically heavy tailed and positively skewed. Finding the distribution that fits loss data well is often difficult. The paper shows that the use of mixed models can significantly improve the goodness-of-fit of the loss data. The paper also presents an algorithm to find estimates of parameters of mixture distribution and gives an illustrative example. The analytical approach is probably the most often used in practice and certainly the most frequently adopted in the actuarial literature. It is reduced to finding a suitable analytical expression which fits the observed data well. For parameters estimation we use the maximum likelihood method applying the Newton-Raphson and EM algorithm. Computations of goodness-of-fit can be judged using the Akaike information criterion.

Opis:
The paper suggests a two-stage optimization algorithm of daily load curves of a distribution network to decrease electricity purchase costs and determine a primary distribution network configuration in presence of renewable power generation or without it. The first stage includes optimization of the daily load curves of active consumers, which ensures decrease of electricity purchase costs considering its price and daily consumption invariability. At the second stage the problem distribution network reconfiguration is solved to decrease power losses in it. The numerical calculations for the test distribution networks confirm the efficiency of the suggested algorithms.

W rozwiązaniu powyższych problemów można wykorzystać dostępne narzędzia obliczeniowe, bazujące m.in. na metodzie elementów skończonych.

A queueing system of the M/G/n-type, n ≥ 1, with a bounded total volume is considered. It is assumed that the volumes of the arriving packets are generally distributed random variables. Moreover, the AQM-type mechanism is used to control the actual buffer state: each of the arriving packets is dropped with a probability depending on its volume and the occupied volume of the system at the pre-arrival epoch. The explicit formulae for the stationary queue-size distribution and the loss probability are found. Numerical examples illustrating theoretical formulae are given as well.

The Idea Of This Paper Is To Reduce Total Power Loss And Ensure Greater Availability Of Capacitor Bank Installed At 132 Kv Grid Station Qasimabad Hyderabad, For Reactive Power Compensation, Even Under Worst Conditions On Distribution System. This Is Achieved By Enhancing Its Location And Size. At Present Capacitor Bank Of Full Size, I.E. Of 1.21 Mvar Is Installed At 11 Kv Bus Of 132 Kv Grid Station Qasimabad Hyderabad. Moreover This Paper Suggests Small Sized Capacitor Banks That Would Be Installed At Different Feeders Instead Of One Large Size Capacitor Bank At 11 Kv Bus. The Voltage Profile And Power Losses With Present Sized Capacitor Bank And The Proposed Small Sized Capacitor Banks Are Compared In This Work. The effect of optical and geometrical parameters on the bending loss, power confinement and modal field diameter are examined in this special fiber. Detailed design parameters and operation principles of the air core optical fiber are discussed. The structure is based on a unique three layered structure of air core optical fiber, having the central air core, germanium silicate ring core, and silica cladding. It has been demonstrated that air core optical fiber has an excellent mode transformation capability. The air core optical fiber is expected to have a versatile application in local area optical communication networks and tunable wavelength selective devices. The main advantages of air core optical fiber are low bend loss and small mode field diameter, which is a prime focus of this paper.
