    In modern global conditions, the revival of the economic belt of the Great Silk Road as a whole opens up new significant opportunities for countries along the route to develop the economies of these countries. Nowadays, the main factors for the integration of these countries are logistics, international trade, and tourism. The relevance of the study lies in the very methodological approach of assessing the logistics factors affecting the economy of a number of countries along the economic belt of the Silk Road. A group of preliminary countries, through which lie main routes of the economic belt of Silk Road, including Kazakhstan, were selected. An analysis was carried out on the efficiency of development of logistics and trade, impact of development of logistics on international trade. Based on the analysis of international indices of logistics efficiency, international trade conditions and regression models, problems and reasons for lagging have been identified that affect the economic development of countries along the Silk Road routes. Priority initiatives have been identified to overcome restrictions that impede the development of logistics and increase trade capacity in the countries of the Silk Road, in particular the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including Kazakhstan.

    The transition to green logistics (GL) and application of the GL practices, besides other solutions, are aimed at abatement of the negative environmental effects and compliance with the European Green Deal objectives. Nonetheless, the GL practices are not usually manifested in the companies’ activities. The aim of this article is to identify the drivers and barriers of application of the GL and verify their manifestation by using the case of a logistics centre in Lithuania. For this purpose, the methods of systematic scientific analysis of literature and qualitative research were employed. Based on the scientific literature analysis, the internal and external factors influencing the application of GL were identified. They included the costs, efficiency, image, clients, competitors, and regulation compliance. The majority of the factors may act as drivers or barriers of application of the GL in corporate practices. The manifestation of the drivers and barriers was empirically verified and the GL practices implemented were identified by the qualitative study. The form of a semi-structured interview was used for the qualitative study by using the case of a logistics centre in Lithuania. According to the findings of the empirical study, positive image, reduction of financial costs, and regulation compliance were the drivers of application of the GL practices. Meanwhile, the need for substantial initial investments, lack of technical expertise, challenges related to employee engagement, and lack of interest of the long-term partners were considered as the barriers.
    Przejście na zieloną logistykę (GL) i stosowanie praktyk GL, obok innych rozwiązań, ma na celu złagodzenie negatywnych skutków dla środowiska i zgodność z celami Europejskiego Zielonego Ładu. Jednak praktyki GL zwykle nie przejawiają się w działaniach spółek. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja czynników i barier stosowania GL oraz weryfikacja ich przejawów na przykładzie centrum logistycznego na Litwie. W tym celu wykorzystano metody systematycznej naukowej analizy literatury oraz badań jakościowych. Na podstawie analizy literatury naukowej zidentyfikowano wewnętrzne i zewnętrzne czynniki wpływające na stosowanie GL. Obejmowały one koszty, wydajność, wizerunek, klientów, konkurencję i zgodność z przepisami. Większość czynników może działać jako czynniki napędzające lub bariery stosowania KG w praktykach korporacyjnych. Przejawy czynników i barier zostały zweryfikowane empirycznie, a wdrożone praktyki KG zostały zidentyfikowane w badaniu jakościowym. Do badania jakościowego wykorzystano formę wywiadu częściowo ustrukturyzowanego na przykładzie centrum logistycznego na Litwie. Zgodnie z wynikami badania empirycznego pozytywny wizerunek, redukcja kosztów finansowych oraz zgodność z regulacjami były czynnikami decydującymi o stosowaniu praktyk KG. Tymczasem za bariery uznano potrzebę znacznych inwestycji początkowych, brak wiedzy technicznej, wyzwania związane z zaangażowaniem pracowników oraz brak zainteresowania partnerów długoterminowych.

    Początki koncepcji klastra sięgają ekonomii neoklasycznej. Były to badania A. Marshalla, które 100 lat później sformułował w postaci ogólnej teorii M. Porter. Współcześnie dynamiczny rozwój rynku usług logistycznych spowodował koncentrację przedsiębiorstw branży TSL. Klastry logistyczne stały się nowym elementem krajobrazu gospodarczego w Polsce. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie uwarunkowań powstania, rozwoju i czynników lokalizacyjnych klastrów logistycznych. Ponadto przedstawiono różnorodne korzyści wynikające z funkcjonowania klastrów logistycznych. Wyniki i wnioski z przeprowadzonych rozważań wskazują na istotną rolę, jaką odgrywają klastry logistyczne w podnoszeniu konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstw i gospodarki.
    The beginnings of the cluster's concept go back to neoclassical economics. These were the studies of A. Marshall, which 100 years later were formulated in the general theory of M. Porter. Nowadays, the dynamic development of the logistic services market has resulted in the concentration of enterprises in the TSL sector. Logistic clusters have become a new element of the economic landscape in Poland. The aim of the work is to present the conditions for the emergence, development and location factors of logistic clusters. In addition, various benefits resulting from the functioning of logistic clusters are presented. The results and conclusions from the considerations point the important role played by logistic clusters in improving the competitiveness of enterprises and the economy.

    Dynamiczny rozwój rynku usług logistycznych w Polsce wpłynął na powstanie licznych centrów logistycznych spełniających złożone funkcje i zadania. Centra logistyczne stały się stosunkowo nowym, ale ważnym elementem krajobrazu gospodarczego kraju. Lokalizacja i rozwój tych obiektów są uzależnione od specyficznych warunków. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie istoty centrów logistycznych jako specjalnych obiektów gospodarczych oraz ich funkcji i zadań, a także uwarunkowań lokalizacyjnych i czynników sprzyjających ich powstawaniu. Na tym tle została przeprowadzona analiza porównawcza trzech wybranych centrów logistycznych położonych w aglomeracji poznańskiej, ale o odmiennej charakterystyce, w celu weryfikacji przeprowadzonych wcześniej rozważań teoretycznych. Wyniki i wnioski z dokonanej analizy mają utylitarny charakter. Wskazują też na istotną rolę, jaką odgrywają centra logistyczne we wzmacnianiu pozycji rynkowej firm.
    The dynamic development of the logistic market in Poland has influenced the development of numerous logistic centers that perform complex functions and tasks. Logistic centers have become a relatively new but important element of the national economic industrial landscape. The location and development of these facilities are related to specific conditions. The aim of the paper is to present the essence of logistic centers as special economic facilities and their functions and tasks, as well as locations related conditions and factors favouring their set up. Based on these, a comparative analysis has been carried out focusing on three selected logistic centers located in the Poznań agglomeration but of varied characteristics in order to verify previous theoretical considerations. The results and conclusions from the analysis are of an utilitarian nature. They also point to the important role played by logistic centers, in strengthening the market position of companies.

    The article addresses the overall body of problems pertaining to economic factors conditioning the construction and operation of integrated logistics centres (ILCs). These problems are among the most fundamental decision-making dilemmas related to such investments. The authors of the article have discussed the methodology of assessment and selection of economic factors for the cost-effective construction and operation of ILCs by taking the perspective of entities involved in the construction and functioning of these centres into consideration. Model ILCs are understood as facilities of a specific spatial and functional nature, along with all the infrastructure and organization, where logistics services are rendered in the scope of receipt, storage, distribution and release of goods, supported by auxiliary services provided by businesses independent of forwarders or recipients [3]. From the perspective assumed in the article, logistics centres are considered as projects implemented by both privately owned and public entities, which are open to participation with different economic entities representing the ILC sector, as well as other industries performing their logistics operations on the centre’s premises and using its infrastructure. The article draws from the authors’ own experience, research and insights.

    The main goal of this paper is to analyze customer satisfaction factors for Light Rail, identify a successful case and compare the level of service of this case with another system so that improvements in terms of price, time of journey and connectivity can be elaborated and suggested. The Docklands Light Railway (London, UK) has been identified as a successful case, which service levels have been compared to ‘Metro Sul do Tejo, MST’ (Almada, Portugal). As a result, a set of solutions to improve MST are proposed.
    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza czynników kształtujących satysfakcję pasażera kolei lekkiej, ukazanie takich rozwiązań, które przyniosły polepszenie satysfakcji i porównanie poziomów usług tych przypadków z innymi systemami, tak by opracować możliwe udoskonalenia w cenach, czasach przejazdów i połączeniach. Tym samym rozwiązania wprowadzone na The Docklands Light Railway (Londyn, Wielka Brytania) zostały porównane z systemem ‘Metro Sul do Tejo, MST’ (Almada, Portugalia), a wnioski z tego porównania posłużyły jako możliwe propozycje dla polepszenia usług MST.

    This publication explains sustainable logistics and the factors affecting sustainable logistics. From this study, we will understand the various factors that affect the implementation and operation of sustainable logistics in the present day. Nowadays, emerging economies, increasing global demography and economic constraints, with complexities of today’s international environment have brought numerous challenges.What is more, shareholders pressure and influence of customers leaning towards sustainability have created an environment where decisions relating to supply chain and logistics cannot be taken solely on the basis of profit but should also take into consideration what is socially, ethically, and environmentally responsible. The chapter aims to present a systematic literature-based approach and explain what sustainable logistics means, as well as what the internal and external influences that sway sustainable logistics are.
    Rozdział wyjaśnia istotę zrównoważonej logistyki (ZL), także czynniki, które wpływają na jej wdrożenie i funkcjonowanie. Wschodzące gospodarki, wzrost demograficzny na świecie, ograniczenia ekonomiczne wraz ze złożonością dzisiejszego środowiska międzynarodowego spowodowały wiele wyzwań dla ZL. Co więcej, presja akcjonariuszy i wpływ klientów skłaniających się ku zrównoważonemu rozwojowi stworzyły środowisko, w którym decyzje dotyczące łańcucha dostaw i logistyki nie mogą być podejmowane wyłącznie w oparciu o zysk, ale powinny uwzględniać to, co społecznie etyczne i środowiskowo odpowiedzialne. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie podejścia opartego na równoważeniu elementów środowiskowych, społecznych i ekonomicznych w logistyce.

    Opis:
    A large number of criteria, the very diverse use of terminology and different classifications of criteria used to select a logistics service provider (LSP) reflect the lack of consensus in defining criteria. Moreover, whether the criteria are consistent with external requirements has not been analysed, which are vitally important for the success and competitiveness of the supply chain. This paper therefore presents a carefully prepared and evaluated classification system of criteria aligned with the requirements of the external environment. A multi-stage methodological approach was used. Selection criteria obtained from the systematic review of literature were first carefully analysed to find potential shortcomings. After that, a cluster method was used to reduce the numer of criteria and to aggregate similar criteria. A Pareto analysis (75/25 rule) was further used to rank the criteria according to their frequency of use and consequently according to importance. The obtained categories of criteria (vitally important criteria (C1), very important criteria (C2), important criteria (C3) and less important criteria (C4), using the AHP method, were compared by the experts to define their weights. This paper summarizes and extends the recent literature through a six-step methodological approach and proposes a new classification system of selection criteria.

    Purpose: The article deals with the development of the e-commerce market as a challenge for international maritime transport and shipping. The aim of the study is to analyze the current, post-andemic factors in the development of the e-commerce market and its impact on the functioning of the maritime transport and shipping market, with an indication of the synthetic implications for changes that should be introduced to improve the functioning of maritime transport, goods responding to the demand expressed on the global e-commerce market. Design/methodology/approach: The article uses the method of analyzing the literature and the method of analyzing data from public statistics on the development and functioning of the e-commerce market as well as shipping and sea transport in 2012-2020. Findings: The main factors of development and problems resulting from the development of the e-commerce market before and after the Covid 19 pandemic were identified as challenges for the transport and shipping of goods by sea. Practical implications: Organization of the supply chain in the area of targeting the development of transport services and international freight forwarding based on maritime transport and shipping. Originality/value: The value and originality of the articles results from a thorough review of the current literature on the subject and statistical data on the functioning of enterprises from the e-commerce market as well as transport and sea freight. The recipients of the results of this work may be managers and persons shaping the rules of functioning on the maritime transport and shipping market.
