    Opis:
    The article discusses various forms of embodiment in lived religion and different ways of studying them. It focuses on three approaches to embodiment: the study of religious subjectivity that involves experiencing one’s own body, the study of shared cultural representations of the body, and the study of determinants that change body states and thus influence religious thought and behavior. It is argued that embodiment in lived religion does not just mean that the body is at the center of religious life. Embodiment manifest itself in all dimensions of religious life from ritual behavior to ineffable religious experience. It is most clearly seen in everyday religious activity that forms the core of lived religion.

    Drawing inspiration om Joseph T. O’Connell’s work on socio‐cultural integration, this pa‐ per connects the notion of ‘deep equality’ with two broad lessons that can be taken om O’Connell’s approach that pertain to the study of religious diversity in contemporary life. The rst is the recognition of the amorphous nature of religious identity, and the second is the necessity to search for models of socio‐cultural integration in the face of di erence. These lessons are valuable in providing an alternative discourse of diversity that moves away om problematisation to collaboration.

    Opis:
    In this paper, we demonstrate how the figure of the Virgin Mary functions as an important element of the lived religion of contemporary Catholic and Muslim mothers in Poland. Based on the analysis of in-depth interviews and observational data we argue that the figure of Mary is recognized as a religious ideal and a role model by mothers identifying with both religions. We trace similarities and differences between Catholic and Muslim mothers in their reflexive engagement with ideas, symbols, and prescriptions attached to Mary and discuss how they reinvent the figure and ascribe it with personalised meanings: embrace some of the traditional attributes of Mary, challenge, and contest others, and construct new meanings firmly embedded in their daily life mothering experiences.
    W artykule przedstawiamy, w jaki sposób figura Maryi – matki Jezusa - funkcjonuje jako ważny element religii przeżywanej wśród współczesnych muzułmańskich i katolickich matek w Polsce. Opierając się na analizie wywiadów pogłębionych i danych obserwacyjnych dowodzimy, że Maryja uznawana jest za religijny ideał i wzór do naśladowania zarówno przez matki wyznające Islam, jak i matki katolickie. Śledzimy podobieństwa i różnice w refleksywnym zaangażowaniu wyznawczyń obu religii w idee, symbole i nakazy związane z Maryją oraz omawiamy, w jaki sposób religijne matki konstruują tę postać na nowo przypisując jej spersonalizowane znaczenia: przyjmując niektóre tradycyjne atrybuty Maryi, kwestionując lub odrzucając inne, a także tworząc nowe znaczenia mocno osadzone we własnych codziennych doświadczeniach macierzyńskich.

    The article discusses the formal changes to the image of Saint Barbara from the “Graf Franz” / “Wawel” coal mine and the accompanying ontological changes to the object in the light of politically and economically motivated transformations. The images of Saint Barbara placed in the pit head buildings of the coal mines in Upper Silesia particularly intensively at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries were objects of religious cult, and were mostly created by the professional artists. As objects of miners’ piety, based on devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, they represented the idea of an art object unified with theology. During the communist rule in Poland, the statue of Saint Barbara was removed from the pit head building and hidden by the miners, and given the status of a symbol of resistance against the state authorities. The returning of the image to the pithead building in 1980 and repainting it with technical paint made it a religious and political symbol, while also serving as an apotropaic object. After the liquidation of the “Wawel” mine, the sculpture, covered with a realistic polychrome, serves as a devotional object in the Church of Saint Pius X in Ruda Śląska.
    Artykuł omawia zmiany formalne wizerunku świętej Barbary z kopalni „Graf Franz” / „Wawel” oraz towarzyszące jej zmiany ontologiczne obiektu w świetle przemian o podłożu politycznym i ekonomicznym. Wizerunki świętej Barbary, umieszczane w cechowniach kopalń węgla kamiennego na Górnym Śląsku szczególnie intensywnie na przełomie XIX i XX wieku, były obiektami o potencjale kultowym, wykonywanymi przeważnie przez zawodowych artystów. W połączeniu z górniczą pobożnością bazującą na nabożeństwie do Najświętszego Sakramentu, tworzyły jednorodny obraz sztuki i teologii. W okresie rządów komunistycznych w Polsce Ludowej doszło to usunięcia rzeźby świętej Barbary z cechowni i ukrycia jej przez pracowników kopalni, dzięki czemu zyskała ona status symbolu oporu przeciwko władzy. Powrót wizerunku do cechowni w 1980 roku i przemalowanie farbą techniczną sprawiły, że stał się on symbolem religijnym, politycznym, a jednocześnie pełnił funkcję obiektu apotropeicznego. Po likwidacji kopalni „Wawel”, rzeźba pokryta realistyczną polichromią, pełni rolę obiektu dewocyjnego w kościele pw. św. Piusa X w Rudzie Śląskiej.

    Opis:
    The paper deals with the ways in which Edmund Husserl develops the question of God. Six ways to reach God are shown as present in Husserl’s writings, some of them seem to be very close to the traditional philosophical ways to go as far as God (the objective and the subjective ways) others are very original, in particular the way that starts from the analysis of the hyletic sphere of the human being, a sphere which is present in all the reality too. At last it is possible to notice Husserl’s interest in the mystical approach to God.
