Opis:
Paper presents results of analysis of the assemblage of flint artefacts from the settlement of Linear Pottery culture (LBK) at the site no. 6 in Podlesie, Świętokrzyskie voivodeship. Importance of the site is primarily by its location: on the border of two geographical regions, two geological conditions, two settlement eccentrics of the LBK and two provinces of lithic raw materials. Within the flint assemblage we can distinguish two main classes of lithical artefacts: an internally cohesive collection of 104 obsidian products and a collection of 2069 artefacts made of at least five different types of flint. In the group of siliceous rocks, the most numerous is the Jurassic flint from Cracow area – 53%. Second place in the inventory is occupied by the Światchowski flint, which share reaches the level of 19%. Only slightly smaller are amounts of chocolate flint – 15%.

Opis:
The article presents flint materials obtained from settlement site of Samborzec-Opatów group from the Tonie 9 site in Lesser Poland. The flintworking of this unit is still poorly recognized. In the literature, special attention has mainly been paid to ceramic materials, especially in studies on the genesis of this group and its relations with other taxonomic units of the Neolithic in Lesser Poland (especially with the Malice culture and later groups of the Lendziel). Therefore, it is worth introducing the specificity of Samborzec-Opatów flintworking, especially since the recently arrived inventory from the Tonie 9 site is quite numerous and relatively homogeneous. Therefore, the main goal is to present materials that can be used for further studies, e.g. those of a comparative nature.

Opis:
This article discusses the final processing of flint axes and wedge-shaped tools. The author in his considerations focuses primarily on the use of two hypothetical processes, i.e. hand grinding or grinding with extra weight at the final stage of manufacturing these tools. Thus, he refers to the work by Danish archaeologist B. Madsen of 1984, entitled “Flint Axe Manufacture in the Neolithic: Experiments with Grinding and Polishing of Thin-Butted Flint Axes”, in which the researcher discussed, for the first time, an occurrence of these techniques in the axe-production process. The author of the article makes an attempt to repeat Madsen’s achievements, to check validity of the concept, and to include also an issue of using so called abrasive materials to support a grinding process in prehistory.

Opis:
The paper deals with the spatial reconstruction of the third cultural layer of the Middle Palaeolithic site Ketrosy 1 situated in the middle reaches of the Dniester river. The cultural layer exposed by N. Anisyutkin’s excavations in 1974–76 proved to be rich in stone artefacts and faunal remains. Also, remains of dwellings made from mammoth bones and tusks were revealed. During recent research, the original interpretation of this layer has been specified and complemented. To prove good preservation of the third cultural layer and its homogeneous occupation, stratigraphical, archaeostratigraphical and refitting analysis were used. To conduct density plots of different categories of finds, point pattern analysis was used. These methods helped to improve the interpretation of the third cultural layer and then compare the results with the data published by N. Anisiutkin. The research allowed the boundaries of the dwelling zone to be specified, and several accumulations of stone artefacts that differ from each other in composition to be outlined. The complex of data makes it possible to interpret the third cultural layer as a short-term site located near a flint outcrop.
