    Opis:
    Jan Rybowicz was a poet and prose writer who lived in the years 1949-1990 in Lisia Góra near Tarnów. His writings as well as the memories preserved in letters and publications are an evidence of the poet's exceptional relations with his family. The love of the mother and the father appears to be the only stable and unconditional feeling in the tragic and lonely life of the artist. The presence of family topics in protest literature inhighly uncommon, especially in Polish literature of the 1970's and 1980's.

    Biograficzna oraz historyczno-literacka analiza prac współczesnego pisarza Jana Rybowicza wykazuje, że posiadanie własnej rodziny było niezrealizowanym marzeniem artysty, które miało wpływ na jego samoocenę i stanowiło szansę jego całkowitego spełnienia. Listy do Elżbiety ukazują problemy wrażliwego artysty w kontaktach z kobietami. Wybrane dzieła literackie zwracają uwagę na problemy samotnego mężczyzny tęskniącego za żoną i dziećmi, których nigdy nie miał. Proza autobiograficzna wskazuje na przemijający czas i trudną rzeczywistość, która sprawiła, że posiadanie rodziny nie było dla pisarza możliwe. Dzieła Jana Rybowicza ukazują człowieka rozdartego między swoimi życzeniami a rzeczywistością. Chęć posiadania własnej rodziny dała mu siłę, aby pisać, ale – z drugiej strony – sprawiła, że cierpiał.
    The biographical and historical-literary analysis of works of the modern writer Jan Rybowicz indicates that having a family of one’s own was an unreachable dream for the artist, which affected his self-esteem and was a chance for his complete fulfillment. Letters to Elisabeth are showing problems of a sensitive artist in his contacts with women. The selected literary works draw attention at the issues of a lonely man missing a wife and children which he has never had. Autobiographical prose points to the passing time and difficult reality that made having a family impossible for the writer. Jan Rybowicz’s works show a man torn between his wishes and reality. A desire of having his own family gave him the strength to write, but, on the other hand, it made him suffer.

    West German literature has turned its back to the existence of the second German state until the 1980s. Only a few years before the fall of the Berlin wall, three writers started to make the GDR a subject of narration or poetry: Botho Strauß, Peter Schneider and Martin Walser. In different ways, yet unanimously, they complain about the division of Germany dealing with its impact on everyday life and private feelings.

    This article analyses the transformative infl uence of Marcel Proust’s fi ction on early works of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz (1925–1927) in the light of the short story Nowa miłość [A New Love]. The article argues – on the basis of a reconstruction of the order in which Iwaszkiewicz read the volumes of In Search of Lost Time – that the date of its composition has be to revised and proceeds to explore the affi nity between the two writers. The analyses, which draw on Harold Bloom’s infl uence theory, compare and contrast their handling of scenes and narratives, relations of analogy and visions of love. The article claims that Iwaszkiewicz was keen to enter into dialogue with the French author and adopted some of Proust’s techniques, yet without compromising his own creative autonomy. In the course of that dialogue he developed a notion of Proust’s literary art which, it is argued, provides the key to the interpretation of homoeroticism and narcissism in Nowa miłość.
