Five types of commercially available polyethylene (PE) and some selected blends with components supporting cross-linking were radiation cross-linked. Mechanical properties and gel fraction were determined upon electron beam irradiation to such a dose that induces about 60% gel fraction. It was confirmed that for easily cross-linked PEs strength at break usually was growing and for polyethylenes less susceptible to radiation cross-linking – was reduced. Similar dependence was found for elongation at break. It was confirmed that for polyethylenes demonstrating high strength at break the efficiency of radiation cross-linking is limited. Additionally, for selected polymeric materials, stress relaxation and accelerated thermal aging were estimated. In order to enhance cross-linking yield some blends with EVA copolymer (ethylene-vinyl acetate) were prepared. On the basis of the literature data, the influence of crystalline regions on cross-linking and mechanical properties was discussed as well.

Competence frameworks are increasingly used in several practice fields and have been an object of research. A typical development trend has been encapsulation into a particular field, not considering the developments in related fields. Similarly, in research, learning from neighbouring disciplines has been rare. Yet, during the past decade, there have been several attempts at linking essentially related disciplines in practice, such as entrepreneurship and project management. This is a reaction to the trends in the labour market – a growing demand for people with diverse competences. In this context, converging different fields via competences deserves more attention. This paper compares the competences required for project managers and entrepreneurs; in addition, it explores the possibilities for mutual enrichment, contributing to further linking of project management and entrepreneurship conceptually. The cross-examination of competences for entrepreneurs (The Entrepreneurship Competence Framework or EntreComp) and for project managers (International Project Management Association's Individual Competence Baseline [IPMA-ICB]) reveals some quite significant, but also weak, correlations. The linguistic approach used has natural limitations, as different terms have been used to convey the same concepts. Thus, a relational linguistic analysis and conceptual analysis have also been applied. The main implication is the recommendation to integrate core project management competences into competence models for entrepreneurs. A natural progression of this work is to build a common competence model for entrepreneurs and project managers.

The process of cross-linking of polyethylene using gamma radiation (γ) and electron beam (EB) was tested from the point of view of density of foam. Particular attention was paid to the postradiation oxidation effect of the polymers. The study used two types of radiation sources of varying dose rates: gamma radiation (4 kGy/h) and EB (14 000 kGy/h). Radiolysis studies of the polymers used the radiation yield of hydrogen evolved (GH2 , approximately proportional to the number of radicals) and radiation yield of oxygen absorbed by the polymer (GO2 ). Oxidation of polymer due to radiation was also evaluated using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy.

Preparation of scaffolds for tissue regeneration requires elucidation of chemical and physical processes induced by ionizing radiation during radiation sterilization of polymeric materials used for these purposes. Such treatment induces many unintended and desired reactions that lead either to degradation or cross-linking of macromolecules. It was found that in poly(ester urethane) the ester segments are responsible predominantly for radiation induced phenomena. Some radicals generated following irradiation were identified under cryogenic conditions. Upon exposure to sterilizing dose cross-linking was confirmed on the basis of rheological changes in melted polymers. The results obtained by EPR spectroscopy and DRS revealed a relatively high susceptibility of poly(ester urethanes) on oxidation.

Chitosan is widely applied in biomedical and cosmetic fields. For this reason, there is a need to modify this biopolymer to achieve new properties of chitosan-based materials. The properties of chitosan can be modified by several cross-linking methods. In this work, we used the chemical cross-linking of chitosan with tannic acid, after which cross-linked chitosan was shaped into a 3D structure by the lyophilisation process. For the material obtained, FTIR-ATR analysis was performed to characterise the structure of cross-linked chitosan. Moreover, mechanical properties and swelling properties were measured for chitosan before and after cross-linking. The results show that several properties of chitosan can be changed after cross-linking by tannic acid. The positions of bands in the FTIR spectra of chitosan were shifted after cross-linking. Mechanical properties were altered for cross-linked chitosan. However, the highest compressive modulus was observed for pure chitosan. The lowest compressive modulus was observed for chitosan cross-linked with 20 wt% of tannic acid. Swelling behaviour also depends on the cross-linking of chitosan. It decreases for chitosan after cross-linking by tannic acid. Overall, the properties of cross-linked chitosan depend on the amount of tannic acid used for modification. This method of cross-linking can be useful for obtaining materials with specific properties.

The subject of this article are nominal compounds in German and Chinese which are assigned to the class of synthetic compounds. Such compounds are based on a verb stem, to which are added lexical morphemes and/or suffixes anchored in the grammar and semantics of the (verbal) head. In German, the verb with the suffix forms a derivative which, as the basic word, selects an argument (object or subject) in function of the determinative word. In this way, a government relationship is established between the constituents of the compound. This applies equally to action nouns and agent nouns. In Chinese, there are not formal exponents of the action noun, so the analysis had to be limited to agent nouns. In their derivation, the verb stem and its object mostly form a constituent that acts as a complement of the agent exponent. The examination of such synthetic compounds is carried out from the perspective of the argument.

By using the fractional logarithmic Sobolev inequality and the linking theorem, we present the existence theorem of the ground state solutions for this nonlocal problem.

EPC models are currently among the leading standard business process modelling solutions. As long as the rules for creating flat EPC models are explicit and raise no significant doubts, when it comes to linking models of different types, the literature of the subject delivers diversified solutions. Four such alternative concepts that can be applied in this respect have been identified and described in this article. They have been used to link EPC models for four cases proposed. These cases differ as to the degree of complexity, and they represent different kinds of potential links between processes being modelled. Using the concepts in question with reference to the cases defined has made it possible to identify situations in which it is impossible to link models, or when it raises certain doubts. What has also been proposed is that one of the concepts identified in the paper can be modified in such a manner that using it to link EPC models does not pose any problem in any of the cases discussed.

This paper aims at exploring the role of cohesion in persuading listeners through answering the following questions; what types of grammatical cohesive relations are displayed and what is their frequency of occurrence in the sampled text? and how does cohesion contribute to the creation and understanding of a text? A program for corpus analysis called (AntConc Tutorial (Ver. 3.2.4) developed by Laurence Anthony (Anthony, L., 2004) is used for analyzing the sample of this study which will be the speech of the Singaporean prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, on the COVID-19 ‘New Normal’, on 31 May 2021 (Appendix A). The study devotes attention to the speech of the Singaporean prime minister on this occasion due to the importance of this event which occupied the world. This paper depends on Halliday and Hasan’s (1976) taxonomy of cohesive devices to analyze data.

The topic of the following article is the German compound nouns with a deverbal head. Specifically, a subgroup of the compound nouns will be discussed, called ‘Rektionskomposita’ in German and ‘złożenia rekcyjne’ in Polish. In these constructions the first part of the compound noun fills in “the empty slot in the argument structure of the head of the compound noun” (Olsen 1986: 67). It is generally assumed that the head opens free structural slots which can be filled in with grammatical elements that are linked to the head (argument linking). Such compound nouns have a structure which is similar to that of phrases / sentences, e.g. Wirtschaftsförderung vs. Förderung der Wirtschaft vs. Die Wirtschaft wird gefördert. First, the scope of the synthetic compound nouns will be limited. Then, the status of suffixes will be defined. In the assumed theoretical framework, suffixes are the head (Germ. Kopf) of the synthetic compound nouns. Further on an analysis of argument linking will be provided, based on the framework of the X-bar-syntax.In the second part of the paper an attempt will be made to determine what structural equivalents of the German synthetic compounds can be found in Polish and whether the argument linking follows similar principles as in German.

Opis:
Irradiation of plasticized PVC (PPVC) compound containing a cross-linking monomer was carried out by a 10 MeV electron beam. This compound mainly is used as insulation in the wire and cable industry. The cross-linking monomers EHPTM and TAC at different ratio of 3, 6, and 9 phr were used. The dose range was varied from 50 to 150 kGy. The effects of monomers and radiation dose on radiation cross-linking were studied by hot-set testing and gel content measurements. In the absence of EHPTM and TAC, cross-linking did not take place by high energy electron beam at any dose and samples had very large elongation in a hot-set apparatus. But in the presence of these monomers, gel content augmented with an increase in radiation dose and EHPTM level. The highest value of approximately 76% gel content was obtained. In this case the lowest hot-set value was about 12%. Also, tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus, volume resistivity, dielectric strength, and limiting oxygen index of samples were examined. It was found that the mechanical properties of samples containing EHPTM and TAC improved significantly with increasing radiation dose. But for PPVC samples loaded with EHPTM, tensile strength values were higher than those of the loaded ones with TAC at all radiation doses. From the hot-set data it is concluded that the samples loaded with EHPTM had a low thermal expansion compared with samples loaded with TAC. The results indicated that EHPTM is a more effective cross-linking agent for PPVC compound compared with TAC.

Freedom to link became an issue as early as 2014 when the European Court of Justice issued its first ruling in this regard. Due to the Directive 2001/29/EC doubts arose as to how linking could be understood as an act of public communication. However, the issue is still current and controversial, also due to the way it has been regulated and interpreted under European law. It should be noted that linking is an important activity not only in terms of copyright, but also falls within the scope of protection of freedom of expression. Therefore, it is crucial to discuss this issue from the perspective of these two aspects.

The aim of this paper is to give an insight into text mining techniques in the context of unstructured text collections of location independent job offers. In order to extract useful information, uncover interesting patterns and features of remote work, we analyze the five most popular and most visited websites containing job offers. We examine clusters of remote job offers, the keywords describing those clusters, as well as the linkages between strongly associated terms describing mobile work offers. It is interesting to observe the maturity of the text mining tools which have broadened their applications to new research topics and have become suitable to explore new phenomena.

In this project, the radiation induced cross-linking in low-density polyethylene (LDPE) samples irradiated with the different dose rates of 5 MeV electron beam in the dose range of 20 up to 200 kGy were investigated and compared. The dose rate values were ranged from 13 to 300 kGy/min. The cross-linking of the samples were studied on the basis of gel content measurement and a hot set test. The yield of gel content showed slight increases with decreasing dose rate values. The same results were more clearly observed using the hot set test. It was concluded that, to irradiate the product based on LDPE, any variation in electron beam current causes different dose rates which, in turn, affect the absorbed dose value in materials.

The ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) is widely used for solar modules encapsulation. During lamination process EVA melts and chemical bonds between polymer chains are created. Its number is tightly related to cross-linking degree and it is consider as a major quality reference for module encapsulation. The lamination can be described as a process with two stages: melting and curing where the typical temperature for curing is in the range from 145 to 175°C. In the present study, for the first time, comparison of three commercial available EVA foils with low curing temperature EVA (EVA LOW). For this reason, the temperature of following lamination processes was set from a range from 115 to 175°C. The behavior of cured EVA films under investigation EVA was determined with two approaches: with extraction and with optical methods. The results indicate the applicability of these methods for the EVA cross-linking characterization. Finally, the extraordinary behavior of EVA LOW foil was noticed.

Collagen is a valuable biopolymer in many fields, especially in biomedical sciences. Thanks to its biodegradability and high biocompatibility, it is a desirable material for applications that require contact with the human body. There are many sources of collagen, of which marine-origin collagen has become an important one in recent times. Pure collagen has poor stability and is sensitive to the effects of heat and other external factors. The cross-linking process can improve the properties of collagen materials. Many different methods of cross-linking can be distinguished, including chemical ones. In this study, we were concerned to obtain collagen films modified with glutaraldehyde (GTA). The influence of this additive on the chemical, mechanical, swelling, and hydrophilic properties of the biopolymeric matrix was evaluated. Two different concentrations of collagen were used, as well as three different concentrations of GTA. Results of the analysis showed that the properties of the obtained films were affected by the addition of even a small amount of cross-linker. Spectroscopic measurements indicated minor changes that reflect interactions between GTA and the collagen matrix. Mechanical tests showed changes for modified samples in values of tensile strength, breaking force, and elongation at break. The hydrophilicity decreased slightly for films with GTA. The durability of the modified samples in the swelling test increased. Differences between 1% and 2% collagen films with additives were also observed. The GTA-obtained fish collagen films can be promising materials for biomedical applications.

Asudeh and Giorgolo (2012) offer an analysis of optional and derived arguments that does away with argument structure as a separate level of representation within the architecture of Lexical Functional Grammar in favour of encoding much of this information in a connected semantic structure. This simplifies the architecture in many ways, but leaves open the question of the mapping between thematic roles, arguments, and grammatical functions (traditionally explored under the umbrella of Lexical Mapping Theory; LMT: Bresnan and Kanerva 1989). In this paper, I offer a formalisation of these mapping relations, drawing on a modern reanalysis of traditional LMT (Kibort 2007), while also continuing Asudeh and Giorgolo’s (2012) quest to evacuate as much information as possible out of individual lexical entries and into cross-categorising templates (Dalrymple et al. 2004; Crouch et al. 2012).

Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na możliwość zastosowania metod QFD i FMEA jako instrumentów, które umożliwić mogą zapewnienie jakości w procesie łączenia włókien światłowodowych, zarówno pod kątem wykrycia i usunięcia ewentualnych błędów w procesie produkcji, jak również modernizacji i dostosowania do potrzeb rynku procesu łączenia włókien światłowodowych. Przedstawiono również wnioski wynikające z możliwości zastosowania metod QFD i FMEA w zakresie usprawnienia procesu łączenia włókien światłowodowych w branży telekomunikacyjnej.

Over the last three decades, an increasing interest in the preparation of new materials for wound healing has been observed. Collagen is a widely used biomaterial, and especially fish skin collagen is more and more popular among scientists. This study aimed to obtain thin films from native fish skin collagen and collagen cross-linked with tannic acid. Infrared spectroscopy, mechanical test, topographic imaging, and swelling test were used to characterize the features of the mentioned films. Statistical evaluation of the results was conducted with the Q-Dixon test. Infrared spectroscopy analysis showed that in the IR spectra of examined biomaterials, there are slight shifts in band positions after tannic acid cross-linking. The mechanical properties of the cross-linked material were different from those of the native collagen film. The Young’s modulus was higher for cross-linked collagen, whereas the elongation at break was lower than for pure collagen. The swelling of the collagen films increased after cross-linking with tannic acid. Swelling tests indicated that collagen cross-linked with tannic acid absorbs more water than before cross-linking. The properties of collagen films were significantly improved after tannic acid cross-linking. All alterations can be a result of collagen cross-linking by tannic acid, probably by forming hydrogen bonds between collagen and tannic acid.

Przedstawiono nową metodę sieciowania kauczuku chloroprenowego (CR) za pomocą tlenku cyny (SnO). Najlepsze właściwości mechaniczne wykazały wulkanizaty usieciowane tlenkiem cyny w ilości 1—2 cz. mas./100 cz. mas. CR (phr), tj. zdecydowanie mniejszej niż ilości ZnO i MgO użyte do standardowego sieciowania CR. Stwierdzono, że wytrzymałość na rozciąganie wulkanizatu CR usieciowanego tlenkiem cyny jest większa niż wulkanizatu CR usieciowanego standardowo. Oznaczone wartości objętościowego pęcznienia równowagowego i stałych elastyczności świadczą o obecności większej liczby wiązań intermolekularnych. Wykazano, że wprowadzenie do mieszanki kauczukowej krzemionki lub sadzy zwiększyło wytrzymałość na rozciąganie wulkanizatu usieciowanego za pomocą 1 phr SnO, natomiast dodanie kaolinu — nieznacznie pogorszyło właściwości mechaniczne wulkanizatów, jednak wyraźnie zmniejszyło ich palność, o czym świadczy większa wartość wskaźnika tlenowego (OI).
A new method of cross-linking chloroprene rubber (CR) with tin oxide (SnO) is presented. From the viewpoint of the mechanical properties, the optimal SnO contentis between 1 and 2 phr of CR (Table 1, Fig. 1), i.e. definitely less than the amount of ZnO and MgO typically used in CR cross-linking. CR vulcanizate cured with tin oxide demonstrates significantly higher tensile strength than CR cross-linked using a conventional mixture of ZnO and MgO. The determined values of equilibrium volume swelling and Mooney-Rivlin elasticity constants indicate a greater number of intermolecular cross-links. It was found that the incorporation of silica or carbon black into CR leads to an increase in the tensile strength of the vulcanizate crosslinked with 1 phr SnO (Table 2). Although the addition of kaolin to CR cured with SnO results in a slight decrease in the mechanical properties of vulcanizates, it causes a marked reduction of their flammability, as indicated by increase in the oxygen index value (Fig. 2).

Proces wiązania poprzez polimeryzację metakryloamidu prowadzono in situ na osnowie kwarcowej w temperaturze 25°C oraz w polu mikrofal (150°C; 800 W; 2,45 GHz). Skład mieszaniny reakcyjnej, oprócz metakryloamidu – jako monomeru, zawierał: inicjator (nadsiarczan amonu), aktywator (N,N,N’,N’-tetrametyloetylenodimina), upłynniacz (sorbitol) oraz osnowę kwarcową. Zmiany strukturalne powstałe wskutek oddziaływań makromolekularnych w mieszaninie reakcyjnej podczas procesu polimeryzacji metakryloamidu, a dalej konsolidacji ziaren osnowy, określono metodą spektroskopii w podczerwieni przy użyciu spektrometru z transformacją Fouriera (FTIR). Stwierdzono, że podczas sieciowania powstają nowe wiązania w obrębie grup polarnych, typu: -OH, >NH, >C=O oraz silanolowych (Si-O). Ponadto przeprowadzono termoanalizę układu reakcyjnego w zakresie temperatury 25−500°C z zastosowaniem metody spektroskopii rozproszonego odbicia (FTIR-DRS). Badania te miały na celu określenie zakresu temperatury, w którym dochodzi do zmian związanych z sieciowaniem układu, a jeszcze nie jego termodestrukcją. Dla otrzymanego układu poreakcyjnego wykonano badania mikroskopowe metodą SEM. Uzyskana wiedza na temat procesu wiązania, poprzedzonego polimeryzacją metakryloamidu prowadzoną in situ na osnowie kwarcowej, pozwoli na podjęcie dalszych prac w obszarze technologii formowania i konsolidacji układów polimerowo-krzemianowych metodą druku 3D.
The process of bonding by polymerization of methacrylamide was performed in situ on a quartz matrix at 25°C as well as in a microwave field (150°C; 800 W; 2.45 GHz). The composition of the reaction mixture, beside methylacrylamide as the monomer, was: the initiator (ammonium persulfate), the activator (N,N,N’,N’-tetramethylethylenediamine), the fluidizer (sorbit) and the quartz matrix. The structural changes occurring as a result of macromolecular reactions in the reaction mixture during the process of methacrylamide polymerization and then consolidation of the matrix grains, were determined by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). It was found that during the cross-linking, new bonds are formed within the polar groups, of the following types: -OH, >NH, >C=O and silanol (Si-O). Also, a thermoanalysis of the reaction system was performed in the temperature range of 25−500°C with the use of dispersed reflection spectroscopy (FTIR-DRS). These studies aimed at determining the temperature range in which we can observe changes connected with the cross-linking of the system, and not its thermodestruction. For the obtained post-reaction system, SEM microscopic examinations were performed. The obtained knowledge of the bonding process, preceded by methacrylamide polymerization performed in situ on a quartz matrix, will make it possible to conduct further research in the scope of the technology of forming and consolidating polymer-silicate systems with the method of 3D printing.

Barker (1998) argues that since the referent of an -ee noun can be an indirect object, a direct object, a prepositional object, or a subject, -ee nouns cannot be described as a syntactic natural class. Portero Muñoz (2003) concurs and offers a semantic analysis based on Logical Structure (LS) in the framework of Role and Reference Grammar (RRG). This article proposes that RRG's macroroles (Actor and Undergoer) can be derived with two entailments and without any need for LS. Its analysis improves Portero Muñoz's, presenting additional evidence that subjects that allow -ee noun formation are Undergoers. It also explains why most -ee nouns are direct objects in spite of the fact that the suffix originated as a referent for indirect objects. Finally, it offers an explanation for nouns like amputee, pluckee, twistee, benefactee, malefactee, biographee, catapultee, razee, standee, attendee.

W publikacji zaprezentowano ideę pomiaru sił sczepliwości – czyli sił z jakimi komponenty przędzy złączonej pneumatycznie są z sobą związane, omówiono system pomiarowy do tego celu zaprojektowany i częściowo wykonany w IW, omówiono warunki pomiaru oraz przedstawiono przykładowe wyniki badań wskaźnika siły sczepliwości, który opracowany został specjalnie do badań nad strukturą i właściwościami przędz sczepianych pneumatycznie, których składowymi są przędze z włókien odcinkowych.

Biopolimery są szeroko stosowane w dziedzinie biomateriałów. Są biokompatybilne, biodegradowalne oraz nietoksyczne dla ludzkiego organizmu. Celem niniejszych badań eksperymentalnych było otrzymanie kompozytów na bazie kolagenu, chitozanu oraz kwasu hialuronowego modyfikowanych poprzez dodatek kwasu taninowego. Biopolimery zostały wymieszane poprzez sporządzenie 1% roztworów każdego z nich, przy czym kolagen oraz chitosan były wymieszane w stosunku wagowym 50/50 oraz do tej mieszaniny zastosowano 1, 2 i 5 (w/w%) dodatek kwasu hialuronowego. Do mieszaniny dodano następnie 2, 5, 10 oraz 20 (w/w%) kwasu taninowego oraz otrzymano skafoldy metodą suszenia sublimacyjnego. Próbki zarówno z dodatkiem kwasu taninowego jak i bez niego zostały scharakteryzowane poprzez pomiar ich właściwości mechanicznych, analizę spektroskopii w podczerwieni (IR-ATR) oraz obrazowanie przy użyciu skaningowego mikroskopu elektronowego (SEM). Ponadto wyznaczono porowatość oraz gęstość każdego ze skafoldów. Wszystkie otrzymane próbki były porowate i nie zaobserwowano znaczących różnic w strukturze na zdjęciach SEM. Na widmach IR-ATR charakterystyczne piki polimerów takie jak: amidowe I, II, III oraz A były przesunięte po dodatku taniny w wyniku pojawienia się wiązań wodorowych oraz oddziaływań elektrostatycznych. Wyniki pokazują, że kwas taninowy może być wykorzystany jako czynnik sieciujący stosowany w celu modyfikacji właściwości biomateriałów.
Biopolymers are widely used in biomaterials science. They are biocompatible, biodegradable and non-toxic for human body. The aim of the study was to obtain scaffolds made of chitosan, collagen and hyaluronic acid modified by addition of tannic acid. The biopolymers were mixed as 1% solution, where collagen and chitosan were mixed in 50/50 (w/w%) and 1, 2 and 5 (w/w%) of hyaluronic acid was added. 2, 5, 10 and 20 (w/w%) of tannic acid was added to the mixture and scaffolds were obtained by freeze drying method. Samples with the tannic acid as well as without it were characterized by the mechanical parameters measurement, infrared spectroscopy (IR-ATR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover the porosity and density of the scaffolds were determined. The addition of tannic acid improves the mechanical properties and porosity of the scaffolds. All the scaffolds were porous and no significant changes in the structure were observed at the SEM images. In the IR-ATR spectra characteristic peaks of polymers as amide I, II, III and A were shifted after addition of tannic acid due to the presence of new hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions. The results show that tannic acid can be used as a cross-linking agent to modify the properties of the scaffolds.
