When observing the contemporary world, one cannot fail to notice that in many areas of life, not only in the personal lives of particular people, but also within the public and social aspects of human existence, conflict seems to be fairly omnipresent. This paper sets to analyse the discussed concept in the Polish language from two different perspectives. The first stage of the research deals with the analysis of the immediate linguistic vicinity of the notion of konflikt / conflict to search for the location of the aforementioned phenomenon within the Polish linguistic system. The aim of this research is to present what types of domains are employed to conceptualise konflikt / conflict. The analysis is based on the selected corpus data found in the Polish language. The second stage of the research comprises the analysis of 183 surveys containing two elements: the definitions of konflikt / conflict and the association maps referring to this concept created by students at the age of 16-24. The aim of this task is to search for the associations attached to the discussed phenomenon by young people, and the similarities and differences within the definitions suggested by them.

This paper presents the features of text categorization of commercial content in linguistic modelling. Description of syntax sentence modelling is applied to automate the processes of analysis and synthesis of texts in natural language for commercial content categorization. This article suggests methods of content analysis for online newspaper. The model describes the processing of information resources systems of content analysis and simplifies the technology of content management system automation. General problems of syntactical and semantic content analysis and functional services of content management system are analysed.

The main purpose of the paper is both to present and to highlight the wide range of artificial intelligence appliance in linguistic research. I intend to define the so called ‘linguistic intelligence’ in the sense of machine learning, based mainly on artificial neural networks. Linguistic intelligent solutions seem to be not only up-to-date but also very promising in the area of developing and improving any intelligent linguistic tools, such as intelligent tutoring systems that are able to interact with human being, or the voice (speech) recognition systems that are able to receive, interpret (understand) and sometimes even carry out spoken commands. Finally, I intend to present the area of so called ‘terminotics’. The term refers to the meeting point of three interrelated disciplines: terminology, computational linguistics and linguistic engineering. This branch is also assisted by computer tools and new technologies based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. These (tools) are mainly designed for term extraction and corpora development but lately there are also some new possibilities to use these tools to increase the quality of terminology infrastructure as well.

Forensic psycholinguistics is an emerging interdisciplinary subject that makes use of the psychological methods to analyze the linguistic phenomena in legal activities and therefore it is of the multiple and cross-disciplinary nature. In ancient Chinese culture there were written expressions with thoughts of forensic psycholinguistics and its practices. In Western countries the research started from European societies at the end of 19th century when Münsterberg and Cattell and some other scholars acted as the pioneers of this domain. After the WWII the research center of forensic psycholinguistics gradually moved to the United States where the research of legal psychology and the use of psychological methods greatly facilitate the study and practices of forensic psycholinguistics. Its study object aims at the linguistic behavior in such legal activities as legislation, judicial, the obeying of the law and transgression, and its task should be the research on the behavior of the legal language in both levels of consciousness and unconsciousness. The construction of the system for forensic psycholinguistics should start from the perspectives of linguistic psychology of legislation, judicial, the enforcement and obeying of the law and the legal publicity so that a cross-cultural emerging subject with its values of practical application could be created.

W skład obiektywnej gramatyki językowo-społecznej wchodzą, m.in. kategoria językowa, kategoria mówienia czy kategoria komunikacyjna z poziomami werbalno-semantycznym, kognitywnym czy pragmatycznym, a także kategorie językowego/ kognitywno-językowego, narodowo-kognitywnego obrazu świata i in. Podstawowymi jednostkami są wyraz morfologiczny i wyraz syntaktyczny, związek wyrazowy, zdanie, wypowiedzenie, tekst z uwzględnieniem różnorodnych dyskursów, ich organizacji, dyskursywnych praktyk. Obiektywna gramatyka językowo-społeczna opiera się na rozróżnieniu poziomów morfologicznego i syntaktycznego, ich różnych aspektów.
The categories of linguistic-social objective grammar, which include the categories of language, speech, communicative, language and speech personalities with verbal-semantic, cognitive, pragmatic levels, as well as categories of language / cognitivelanguage, national-cognitive picture of the world and others, are considered. The main units are morphological word, syntactic word, phrase, sentence, statement, text, the number of which is wider, taking into account various discourses, their organization, discursive practices. Linguistic-social objective grammar is based on the differentiation of morphological and syntactic levels, their various aspects.

The educational system in a given country largely influences the process of shaping of the students’ identity. The text is a study on an excerpt from materi-al which is part of research reconstructing the linguistic and cultural image of Poles and of Slovenians. An analysis of the operational categories of the lin-guistic image of the world is a valuable source of knowledge about the stereo-typical image of the country and of its representatives, reflecting the subjective point of view of respondents. A binary model emerges clearly, with a positive – negative (unambitious) attitude of Slovenians towards science and education. The comparison of the auto- and heterostereotypical approach, in our case the Slovenian one with the Polish one (respondents who had had contact with Slo-venians), yields a broader picture of the studied aspect.

The article looks at grammar in the construction of linguistic worldview (LWV): the problem is important inasmuch as most researchers tend to only focus on lexical issues. By adopting a broad understanding of grammar as a body of mechanisms that make language possible, the author claims that the Polish linguistic worldview draws from the world-formational system (it allows for the emergence of new words and organizes the lexicon by arranging it into conceptual categories with formal linguistic exponents). The inflectional and syntactic systems, in turn, contribute to the LWV much less: the only grammatical categories with a semantic function relevant in this respect are number, gender, tense, modality and conjunctions, which code relationships between entities and phenomena.
Tematem artykułu jest omówienie roli zjawisk gramatycznych w tworzeniu językowego obrazu świata (JOS). Problem jest istotny, gdyż większość badaczy JOS-u skupia się na analizie słownictwa. Przyjmując szerokie rozumienie gramatyki jako całościowego opisu wszelkich mechanizmów umożliwiających funkcjonowanie języka, autorka jest zdania, że w tworzeniu utrwalonego w polszczyźnie obrazu świata uczestniczy przede wszystkim system słowotwórczy (pozwala na tworzenie nowych słów i porządkuje słownictwo, układając je w klasy pojęciowe o formalnych wykładnikach językowych). Natomiast systemy fleksyjny i składniowy są zaangażowane w tworzenie JOS w mniejszym stopniu i w nieco inny sposób. O sposobie konceptualizowania świata mogą świadczyć takie kategorie gramatyczne o funkcji semantycznej, jak liczba, rodzaj gramatyczny w rzeczownikach, czas i modalność oraz spójniki, które utrwalają dostrzeżone relacje między zjawiskami. Kategorie gramatyczne służące wyłącznie tworzeniu tekstu wpływają nie na konceptualizację świata, ale na swoisty dla każdego języka sposób mówienia o świecie, ujmowania świata w wypowiedzi. Służą więc nie funkcji nominatywnej języka, ale jego funkcji komunikatywnej.

School is a natural context for development in which the communicative strategies used by teachers when interacting with students are essential for the development of communicative and linguistic competence. The objective of this study was to construct, implement and validate a first version of a self-assessment and decision-making tool on the teaching of oral language at school. It is an adaptation of the Oral Language Assessment in the School Context Scale (Escala de Valoración de la enseñanza de la Lengua Oral en contexto Escolar-EVALOE) (Gràcia et al., 2015) based on the use of the Conversational Methodology. This is a multiple case study focusing on four teachers (1 from an ordinary school, 2 from a rural school and 1 from a special education school). For six months, the teachers self-assessed their teaching practices with the tool, made decisions to improve it, and introduced changes in their classes. The researchers observed five class sessions of each teacher, assessed them with the same tool and each teacher-researcher pair conversed and reflected on the classes in five meetings throughout the semester. The results show that, in spite of the fact that there were important differences between teachers, the EVALOE - Decision Support System (EVALOE-SSD) is a useful tool that facilitates self-assessment, decision-making and the introduction of changes in the classes in order to promote the development of communicative and linguistic competence in the students. The analysis identified elements that can be improved and that will be considered during the review of the tool.

The paper focuses on some problems of synonymy in the linguistic terminology and solutions for the optimal representation of information in the structure of an IR language. Linguistic terms in addition to metalinguistic meaning also carry some meta-scientific information (e.g. on the methodological school). It is thus possible that two different terms refer to the same linguistic phenomenon within various research trends. The issue of usage is also addressed here (including idiolectal preferences). The above phenomena on the one hand and various user information needs on the other result in some significant difficulties in the work on the optimization of IR in iSybislaw.

Najnowsze dzieje języka polskiego (1918–2018) przebiegały w czterech fazach (1918–1939, 1939–1945, 1945–1990, po 1990). W sferze zjawisk zewnętrznojęzykowych i tendencji socjolingwistycznych polszczyzna ewoluowała od statusu języka elitarnego do kodu zdemokratyzowanego oraz od dwudzielnego podziału odmian komunikacyjnych (język ogólny : dialekty) do podziału trójdzielnego (język ogólny : dialekty ludowe : kody mieszane). W sferze zjawisk wewnętrznojęzykowych dominowały tendencje do ekonomizacji i do kompletacji środków językowych w całym przebiegu dziejów przy zachowaniu równomiernej dynamiki pozostałych tendencji (unifikacja, repartycja, nobilitacja). Procesy te i szczegółowe zmiany językowe w sposób proporcjonalny objęły wszystkie warstwy strukturalne systemu polszczyzny, co świadczy o efektywności procesów optymalizacyjnych.
The latest history of the Polish language (1918–2018) consists of four phases (1918–1939, 1939–1945, 1945–1990, after 1990). In the area of extra-linguistic phenomena and sociolinguistic trends, the Polish language has evolved from the status of an elite language to a democratised code and from the double division of communication varieties (common language : dialects) to the triple division (common language : folk dialects : mixed codes). In the area of intra-linguistic phenomena, the trends of economisation and completion of linguistic devices dominated throughout the history, while preserving the uniform dynamics of other trends (unification, repartition, nobilitation). These processes and specific language changes have affected all structural layers of the Polish language system in a proportional manner, which proves the effectiveness of optimisation processes.
