Opis:
This paper considers the problem of persistent bounded disturbance rejection for a class of time-delay systems with parametric uncertainty by Lyapunov function and positively invariant set analysis method. Sufficient conditions for internal stability and L1-performance analysis are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Based on the results, a simple approach to the design of a linear state-feedback controller is presented to stabilize robustly the uncertain time-delay systems and achieve a desired level of disturbance attenuation. All the obtained conditions are delay-dependent. A numerical example is included to illustrate the proposed method.

Opis:
This paper deals with the stability problem for a class of linear neutral delay-differential systems. The time delay is assumed constant and known. Delay-dependent criteria are derived. The criteria are given in the form of linear matrix inequalities which are easy to use when checking the stability of the systems considered. Numerical examples indicate significant improvements over some existing results.

Opis:
In this paper, the state estimation problem for a class of mismatched uncertain time-delay systems is addressed. The estimation uses observer-based control techniques. The mismatched uncertain time-delay systems investigated in this study include mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix and in the delayed state matrix. First, based on a new lemma with appropriately choosing Lyapunov functional, new results for stabilization of mismatched uncertain time-delay systems are provided on the basis of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) framework and the asymptotic convergence properties for the estimation error is ensured. Second, the control and observer gains are given from single LMI feasible solution which can overcome the drawback of the bilinear matrix inequalities approach often reported in the literature. Finally, a numerical example is used to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

Opis:
This paper is concerned with actuator fault detection in nonlinear systems in the presence of disturbances. A nonlinear unknown input observer is designed and the output estimation error is used as a residual for fault detection. To deal with the problem of high Lipschitz constants, a modified mean-value theorem is used to express the nonlinear error dynamics as a convex combination of known matrices with time-varying coefficients. Moreover, the disturbance attenuation is performed using a modified H-infinity criterion. A sufficient condition for the existence of an unknown input observer is obtained using a linear matrix inequality formula, and the observer gains are obtained by solving the corresponding set of inequalities. The advantages of the proposed method are that no a priori assumption on the unknown input is required and that it can be applied to a large class of nonlinear systems. Performances of the proposed approach are shown through the application to a diesel engine model.

Opis:
In this paper, the stabilization problem of a autonomous linear time invariant fractional order (LTI-FO) switched system with different derivative order in subsystems is outlined. First, necessary and sufficient condition for stability of an LTI-FO switched system with different derivative order in subsystems based on the convex analysis and linear matrix inequality (LMI) for two subsystems is presented and proved. Also, sufficient condition for stability of an LTI-FO switched system with different derivative order in subsystems for more than two subsystems is proved. Then a sliding sector is designed for each subsystem of the LTI-FO switched system. Finally, a switching control law is designed to switch the LTI-FO switched system among subsystems to ensure the decrease of the norm of the switched system. Simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed variable structure controller.

Opis:
This paper explains the basics of the Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI), with examples of simulations and calculations created in Matlab/Simulink programming environment where the controlled plant is the “Blue Lady” ship model. First chapter of this paper gives a short overview of publications describing the use of Linear Matrix Inequalities method. Second chapter contains basic definitions and equations for the LMI method. Chapter three presents the use of LMI method for ship control by describing controller synthesis for the “Blue Lady”. Chapter four compares the operation of two controllers, the first one consisting of three independent proper adjusted PID controllers and the second one being a multivariable LMI controller. Finally conclusions from the above comparison are drawn.
