Opis:
The effect of a magnetic field dependent viscosity on a Soret driven ferro thermohaline convection in a rotating porous medium has been investigated using the linear stability analysis. The normal mode technique is applied. A wide range of values of the Soret parameter, magnetization parameter, the magnetic field dependent viscosity, Taylor number and the permeability of porous medium have been considered. A Brinkman model is used. Both stationary and oscillatory instabilities have been obtained. It is found that the system stabilizes only through oscillatory mode of instability. It is found that the magnetization parameter and the permeability of the porous medium destabilize the system and the Soret parameter, the magnetic field dependent viscosity and the Taylor number tend to stabilize the system. The results are presented numerically and graphically.

Opis:
This paper addresses the asymptotic stability analysis problem for a class of linear large-scale systems with time delay in the state of each subsystem as well as in the interconnections. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, a delay-dependent criterion for stability analysis of the systems is derived in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI). Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed result.

Opis:
This article employs the classical Euler–Bernoulli beam theory in connection with Green–Naghdi’s generalized thermoelasticity theory without energy dissipation to investigate the vibrating microbeam. The microbeam is considered with linearly varying thickness and subjected to various boundary conditions. The heat and motion equations are obtained using the modified couple stress analysis in terms of deflection with only one material length-scale parameter to capture the size-dependent behavior. Various combinations of free, simply-supported, and clamped boundary conditions are presented. The effect of length-to-thickness ratio, as well as the influence of both couple stress parameter and thermoelastic coupling, are all discussed. Furthermore, the effect of reference temperature on the eigenfrequency is also investigated. The vibration frequencies indicate that the tapered microbeam modeled by modified couple stress analysis causes more responses than that modeled by classical continuum beam theory, even the thermoelastic coupled is taken into account.

Opis:
This paper studies an LMI optimization problem of delay-dependent robust stability criteria for stochastic systems with polytopic and linear fractional uncertainties. The delay is assumed to be time-varying and belong to a given interval, which means that lower and upper bounds of this interval time-varying delay are available. The uncertainty under consideration includes polytopic-type uncertainty and linear fractional norm-bounded uncertainty. Based on the new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, some inequality techniques and stochastic stability theory, delay-dependent stability criteria are obtained in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Moreover, the derivative of time delays is allowed to take any value. Finally, four numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and to show an improvement over some results found in the literature.

Opis:
This paper is concerned with the problem of stochastic stability and generalized H2 control for discrete-time fuzzy largescale stochastic systems with time-varying and infinite-distributed delays. Large-scale interconnected systems consist of a number of discrete-time interconnected Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) subsystems. First, a novel Delay-Dependent Piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functional (DDPLKF0 is proposed, in which both the upper and the lower bound of delays are considered. Then, two improved delay-dependent stability conditions are established based on this DDPLKF in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The merit of the proposed conditions lies in its reduced conservatism, which is achieved by circumventing the utilization of some bounding inequalities for cross products of two vectors and by considering the interactions among the fuzzy subsystems in each subregion. A decentralized generalized H2 state feedback fuzzy controller is designed for each subsystem. It is shown that the mean-square stability for discrete T-S fuzzy large-scale stochastic systems can be established if a DDPLKF can be constructed and a decentralized controller can be obtained by solving a set of LMIs. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The problem of delay-dependent dissipative analysis and control for stochastic singular systems with state delay is investigated in this paper. Delay-dependent dissipative condition for the stochastic singular systems with state delay is obtained by employing singular stochastic Lyapunov and LMI-based methods. W pracy poruszono tematykę analizy obudowy wykopu dla budynku z jedną kondygnacją podziemną, zlokalizowanego w gęstej zabudowie śródmiejskiej. Obliczenia przeprowadzono za pomocą dwóch programów obliczeniowych: GEO 5 (moduł: Ściana Analiza) i Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional. Całość wyników podsumowano, a wnioski sformułowano w odniesieniu do obecnej sytuacji na rynku budowlanym, charakteryzującej się coraz to trudniejszymi warunkami gruntowymi, gęstszą zabudową śródmiejską oraz trudniejszym ukształtowaniem terenu.
The paper addresses excavation shoring analysis for a building with one underground storey, located in high-density urban development. The paper focuses on available computational methods, vital design assumptions and reduction of the impact of structural works on adjacent buildings sensitive to ground motion. Computations have been conducted and compared in two software variants: GEO 5 (Excavation Design module) and Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional. The results are summarized and conclusions are drawn with regard to the current construction industry status. The latter is characterized by increasingly difficult ground conditions, high-density urban development and demanding terrain topography.

Opis:
The modeling of P-waves has essential applications in seismology. This is because the detection of the P-waves is the first warning sign of the incoming earthquake. Thus, P-wave detection is an important part of an earthquake monitoring system. In this paper, we introduce a linear computational cost simulator for three-dimensional simulations of P-waves. We also generalize our formulations and derivation for elastic wave propagation problems. We use the alternating direction method with isogeometric finite elements to simulate seismic P-wave and elastic propagation problems. We introduce intermediate time steps and separate our differential operator into a summation of the blocks, acting along the particular coordinate axis in the sub-steps. We show that the resulting problem matrix can be represented as a multiplication of three multi-diagonal matrices, each one with B-spline basis functions along the particular axis of the spatial system of coordinates. The resulting system of linear equations can be factorized in linear O (N) computational cost in every time step of the semi-implicit method. We use our method to simulate P-wave and elastic wave propagation problems. We derive the condition for the stability for seismic waves; namely, we show that the method is stable when τ < C min{ hx,hy,hz}, where C is a constant that depends on the PDE problem and also on the degree of splines used for the spatial approximation. We conclude our presentation with numerical results for seismic P-wave and elastic wave propagation problems.
