In the text, an attempt was made to analyse selected issues related to gerontology in the relationship to people with disabilities. The context of analyses is the tendency of social ageing tendencies, observed in Poland and in the world, especially in European countries. Selected areas of reflection are combined with the conviction that there is a need for research which would fill in the gap in the field of research carried out so far, focused on the issue of the broadly defined life situation of the people with disabilities in the senior years, which is in the scientific merit of Polish special needs education (pedagogics). There is a justified fear that these individuals are more likely to experience marginalisation and exclusion in many areas of life than people of similar age in the general population.

The authors of the article present results of empirical poll results that show the professional and life situation of pedagogy graduates from years 2000–2010. A difficult problem, that had consequences for the quality of the collected material, was the choice of the research sample: only 12% of people to whom the survey questionnaire had been delivered (by post or electronically) took part in the research. 319 filled-in questionnaires were received (a part however included blanks) mostly from graduates of Łódź University (73%). The type of studies was taken as a variable that can differentiate the professional situation. What was analysed was the professional status of the researched subjects (including their workplaces) during the studies and after their completion. In the case of extramural students the impact of finishing studies on the change of their professional situation was analysed. What was characteristic of the life situation was the civil status of the respondents, having children, the evaluation of the material situation and the life satisfaction level. Pedagogy graduates are not very mobile, only 18% changed the place of living and 28% – the work place (5% changed it three times). Half of the graduates who changed the workplace did it in institutions that corresponded with the received education (change of one school for another, changing the work in after-school care for teacher’s position, changing the work in a community centre for a job in a pedagogical counselling service, etc.). Therefore the change of the workplace was not connected with a quality change of the professional activity.

In the respect of migration, the movement of people in order to achieve their intended goals (material, emotional, academic, etc.), it remains interesting from a research perspective to study the strategies of migrants as participants in migration to approach their lives as well as shaping life based on travelling abroad. The authors as well base their article on the research experience of other authors who analysed similar or equal aspects of migration of Poles after the enlargement of the European Union structures on 1st May 2004. However, due to the limitations of travelling and the impossibility of carrying out field research, we, as authors, determined to interview the academic youth with reference to their opinions on the mentioned issue. After all, young people assume certain strategies for realizing their own plans for life, which might be related to migration experiences or intentions in this area. In this article, the authors will attempt to explain the matter: what are the preferences and opinions of the respondents (students of Kraków’s universities) concerning travelling abroad? We will as well make an effort to define the term of migration strategy from the analytical point of view and we will also try to show the respondents’ strategies in connection with their possible migration experiences or migration intentions.
W podejmowaniu kwestii migracji, będących przemieszczaniem się ludzi w celu realizacji zamierzonych przez siebie celów (materialne, emocjonalne, naukowe itp.), interesujące z punktu widzenia badawczego pozostaje poznanie strategii podejścia migrantów jako uczestników migracji do swojego życia i kształtowanie go na podstawie wyjazdów lub wyjazdu za granicę. Autorzy artykuł opierają na doświadczeniach badawczych innych autorów, którzy analizowali podobne lub te same aspekty migracji Polaków po rozszerzeniu struktur Unii Europejskiej 1 maja 2004 r. Jednakże w związku z ograniczeniami odbywania podróży i niemożnością realizacji badań terenowych, postanowiliśmy zapytać młodzież akademicką o ich opinię w poruszanej problematyce – wszak ludzie młodzi zakładają pewne strategie realizacji własnych planów na życie, co wiązać się może z doświadczeniami migracyjnymi lub zamiarami w tym obszarze. Staraliśmy się odpowiedzieć na pytanie: jakie są preferencje i opinie badanych (studentów krakowskich uczelni) w zakresie wyjazdów zagranicznych? Podjęliśmy także próbę określenia terminu strategii migracyjnej z analitycznego punktu widzenia, a także wykazania strategii respondentów w związku z ich ewentualnymi doświadczeniami migracyjnymi lub migracyjnymi zamiarami.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań dotyczących jakości życia studentów Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego za pomocą kwestionariusza WHOQOL-BREF, który zawiera 26 pytań i analizuje 4 podstawowe domeny jakości życia: fizyczną, psychiczną, relacji społecznych, środowiska funkcjonowania badanego oraz globalną jakość życia i samoocenę stanu zdrowia. Badanie zrealizowano w dwóch edycjach: w 2021 i 2022 r. na łącznej próbie ponad 1600 studentów pierwszych roczników studiów. Badanie w 2021 r. wykonano techniką CAWI, w 2022 r. techniką PAPI. Do analizy czynników różnicujących ocenę jakości życia mieszkańców zastosowano zmienne socjodemograficzne, w postaci płci, miejsca zamieszkania oraz zmiennej o charakterze czynnika społecznego – sytuacji materialnej. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że płeć nie różnicuje jakości życia studentów. Na jakość życia wpływają za to sytuacja materialna oraz miejsce zamieszkania. Stwierdzono ponadto, iż pandemia Covid-19 miała negatywny wpływ na dwie dziedziny jakości życia badanych – fizyczną oraz psychologiczną.
The aim of the article was to present the results of research on the quality of life of students of the University of Rzeszów using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire, which contains 26 questions and analyzes 4 basic domains of quality of life: physical, mental, social relations, functioning environment and global quality of life and self-assessment of health. The study was carried out in the following editions: in 2021 and 2022, on a total sample of over 1,600 first-year students. The survey in 2021 was carried out using the CAWI technique, in 2022 using the PAPI technique. Socio-demographic variables were used to analyze the factors differentiating the assessment of the quality of life of the inhabitants, in the form of gender, place of residence and a variable of a social factor – material situation. The obtained results indicate that gender does not differentiate the quality of life of students. The quality of life is influenced by the material situation and place of residence. It was also found that the Covid-19 pandemic had a negative impact on two areas of the quality of life of the respondents – physical and psychological.

In the philosophical-pedagogical analysis of the undertaken issues, some theoretical and methodological conceptualizations have been applied that refer to Paweł Boski’s theory of the cultural identity based on values and practices in bi-or multicultural socialization and Harold J. Noah’s model of the comparison of academic education. The assumption was also made that the research into the quality of life of Polish and Ukrainian university students enables one to learn the way(s) in which students understand themselves, the others and the world - the way(s) anchored in their own experience and culture. The undertaken studies also address the important problem of forming students’ identity in the stage of the so called emerging adulthood. It occurs in the countries where a knowledge-based economy dominates and where the intensive changes both decrease the young’s motivation to engage in adult roles and make the young postpone them.

The trends to build ever larger passenger vessels enforce the necessity of continuous improvement of safety systems on such ships. Sea voyages constitute nowadays an attractive form of spending one’s leisure, which is why people aboard vessels should also have their safety ensured in the case of a necessity to evacuate them. Paper presents the methods of lengthening of the time available for conducting evacuation, shortening the time of becoming aware of the necessity of evacuation and shortening the time of evacuation itself. An interesting concept of signalling the direction of evacuation by means of sound, bound strictly with the way man’s instrument of hearing functions and the way of locating the source of sound is also presented at the paper. A new approach to designing evacuation systems is discussed at the paper. The concept of a “safe haven” is presented.

The main aim of the article is a description of financial situation of Non-life Insurance Companies in relation to macroeconomic circumstances. To examine the strength of correlation between the analyzed variables authors used Pearson's correlation coefficient. The analysis was realized among three groups of indicators characterizing the Insurance Companies depending on chosen macroeconomic variables. The analysis was performed on aggregated data for the entire non life insurance sector. The results are not unequivocal. It cannot be established an unitary process that has an influence on Non-Life Insurance Companies financial situation. But the indicators of the population economic situation may be distinguished as clearly correlated with Non-Life Insurance Companies financial situation.

Motor insurance in the Polish insurance sector are a major source of revenue. Rapid increase in number of passenger cars registered in Poland since 2000 caused the increase in revenue of Insurance Companies (IC) of this title. The primary objective of this paper is to describe the role of insurance in the Polish insurance sector, in particular, seeking answers to questions about the impact of insurance on the insurance sector. Results obtained analyzes indicate that the motor insurance sector determines the shape of the Polish life insurance. Evidenced by the high gross premiums depending on the number of section II cars, the footnote of motor sector. You can definitely tell that the motor insurance market growing at the same rate as the number of registered cars in Poland, as measured by gross. At the same time changing the cost structure of insurance, since the communication net profitability is not dependent on technical profit on car insurance. But while the profits of Section II is dependent on gross premiums collected from insurance. What can you mean that car insurance is a kind of vehicle for reaching customers with other more effective property insurance. And that motor insurance are key competitive battleground among IC. Loss ratio for motor insurance is not dependent on the number of registered passenger cars. Net efficiency of IC property is not dependent on the efficiency of motor insurance, the measured result of technology.

Aim. The main goal is to identify not only the religion of the Roma ethnic group, but also their relationship to God, and their experience of faith in the Covid-19 pandemic situation. In the contribution, the authors point to the perception of the personality of the priest as a spiritual shepherd, but also as a figure who leads them to a moral and Christian life. Concept. This scientific study thus points to the classic experience of spiritual life in various selected situations, and identifies the importance of a pandemic situation for a person’s Christian life. Methods. The study deals with several aspects of experiencing the spiritual life of the Roma community, and points out and identifies their thoughts about life during selected social activities. The authors point to important studies that show the connection between the pandemic situation and the issue of faith and religion in the Roma community. Results. The study confirms that the pandemic situation had an adverse effect on experiencing spiritual life in the Roma community, but we can state that Roma carry on their spiritual life despite all the measures in their individual, family community, with the support of other community members. and a priest. Conclusion. The scientific and professional contributions in this study point to the inner experience of spiritual life in the community through individual and family relationships, and the presence of a priest who is supposed to lead the Roma to a spiritual life in accordance with morality.

Authors in this article deal with the issue of people who are, for various reasons, without accommodation. They analyse the causes of their condition, which is absolutely necessary to know, in order to be able to help them. They analyse options that are currently offered in this area. They highlight the issue of their health, which is of course seriously affected by their limited conditions of survival. Their decline of social status as of valid members of our society leads to a serious problem that should be related to all of us if we do not want to allocate them from the society. Homelessness is the urgent medical, nursing, social, psychological, ethical and sociological problem. It is in interest of the public health from the aspect of the spread of infections and of interest of independent foundations and non-profit organizations. Volunteers play an increasingly important role in the care of the homeless community, either as a group or as single individuals.

For centuries Roma have lived in various political and economic environments, as well as in environments that are culturally diverse. They are a minority group in every place in which they are present. That is why their socio-economic circumstances have always depended and still depends on the majority context. The status of this minority group results also in the fact that the culture of Romani groups – communities so culturally different from the majority groups amongst which they live – is in danger of dispersion or even disappearance in the majority context. Furthermore, existing as a minority within particular societies has influenced and still strongly influences the great diversity of the Roma as far as language, way of life, customs, professions and religion are concerned. And because of this diversity it is inappropriate to talk about one primal or exemplary Romani culture, but rather, about cultures of the Roma communities. There are no universal riteria that would be useful in describing the diversity of all of the Roma. Their presence in a given country is linked to adaptive processes of the majority society. It is the majority that creates the conditions and space to which minorities need to adapt somehow. The results of the adaptive processes also vary and depend on an external context. The attitude of given populations towards minorities and the current political and economic situation of a given country in which the Roma settled had and still have significant influence on the abovementioned processes. The way of life of different Romani groups also holds great importance, because a sedentary way of life (typical for most European Roma) and external influences especially on culture and models of lifestyle have also furthered the adaptive processes. Cultural diversity among the Roma is present not only among groups living in different countries. It needs to be emphasized that Roma who have lived in one country for centuries are not a homogenous group in terms of their culture. Previous migration processes and a sedentary or nomadic way of life have had a great influence on this internal diversity. In Poland, with four distinguishable Romani groups, such diversity occurs between Carpathian Roma (Bergitka Roma, Polish Highlander Roma) and traditionally nomadic groups: Polska Roma, Lovara, and Kelderari. This article is based mainly on available sources and dissertations on the subject. However, it also refers to field research regarding the use of European Union funds for the Roma community in Poland, which was conducted by the author in 2010 and 2011.

Subject and purpose of work: The purpose of the study is to determine the variables determining the level of synthetic measure of economic efficiency in listed companies of the industry sector as part of their enterprise life cycle. Materials and methods: The article uses data from annual unitary financial statements of industrial enterprises according to the classification of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and data describing the macroeconomic situation of the state economy. The research period covered the years 1999-2012. In order to examine which factors determine the level of economic efficiency at each stage of the life cycle of enterprises, estimation of econometric models was carried out. Results: In the models obtained for companies in the growth and maturity stage, statistically significant determinants were obtained only in the field of internal factors. In the models estimated for companies in the stages of launch, shake-out and decline, statistically significant conditions were identified, both in terms of external factors and in the area of internal factors. Conclusions: A comprehensive assessment of the conditions for the level of economic efficiency of enterprises should take into account both factors dependent on the enterprise (microeconomic) as well as those determined by the environment (macroeconomic) and beyond its control. It is therefore necessary for managers of enterprises to have extensive and up-todate knowledge of factors and conditions that are significant in shaping the level of economic efficiency.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawiono przegląd wybranych teorii stresu oraz strategie radzenia sobie z nim. Stres jest nieodzownym elementem życia człowieka. Jedną z najważniejszych cech ludzkich jest umiejętność przystosowania się do zmiennych warunków środowiska. Problemy życiowe wynikające ze wzajemnych relacji człowieka ze światem, mogą – jeśli człowiek nie podejmie odpowiednich aktywności lub nie uzyska właściwej pomocy – wywołać zjawisko zwane stresem. W rzeczywistości działanie niepożądane przynosi jedynie stres zbyt silny lub zbyt długotrwały. Stres umiarkowany zwiększa możliwości radzenia sobie z wymaganiami adaptacyjnymi otoczenia, dzięki czemu umożliwia rozwój psychiczny. Wielu badaczy zjawiska określa go jako podstawowy czynnik rozwoju. Należy również mieć na uwadze, że wiele decyzji ludzi, związanych kształtowaniem umiejętności radzenia sobie ze stresem wpływa bezpośrednio na reakcje stresowe i ich konsekwencje. Niemożliwym wprost do przecenienia działaniem w tym kontekście jest wsparcie dzięki, któremu radzenie sobie ze stresem jest łatwiejsze i efektywniejsze.
The article contains overview of the selected stress theories and stress management strategies. Stress is an integral part of human life. One of the most important human characteristics is the ability to adapt to the changeable environmental conditions. Life problems which stem from mutual human – world relations can, if a person does not take appropriate actions or does not receive adequate aid, cause stress. In reality, undesirable actions may be caused by too high stress level or long-term stress only. Moderate stress increases abilities to overcome adaptation requirements of the environment, allowing psychological development. Numerous researchers describe it as a fundamental development factor. What needs to be taken into consideration is the fact that many human decisions related to developing the abilities to cope with stress directly impact stress-related reactions and their consequences. In this context, it is impossible to overestimate the importance of support thanks to which dealing with stress is easier and more effective.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to introduce organizational application of allostasis. This is to be used as a very convenient replacement of homeostasis which has been lost due to adverse circumstances created by a turbulent environment. This application is derived by the continuous diagnosis and observation of the chosen sample. The sample has been positioned in various organizational situations represented by FOGT’s businesses organization from 1982 to 2014. The situation is determined by a recognized level of organizational effectiveness or potential ineffectiveness caused by dysfunctions created by surroundings. In such circumstances organizational homeostasis based on stability does not exist and it has to be replaced by allostasis. When homeostasis represents the idea of achieving organizational stability through constancy, allostasis represents the idea of achieving stability through change. This article presents a brief summary of the results of the diagnosis based on qualitative, long lasted depth analysis. The author's tool “The business life cycle model of organizational effectiveness influenced by dysfunctions” is based on the research of the organizational situation. The summary interprets all outcomes of the research and expresses the sense of implemented organizational adaptation through changes as allostasis.
