Opis:
The operation of water supply networks basically relies on the ability of supply water, which in the case of groundwater intakes, is defined by usable reserves offered by the wells involved. Their establishing is the last stage of an investment, i.e. building of groundwater intakes, and their value determines the type of infrastructure and technological hardware in the wells. Owing to the fact that the usable groundwater reserves are conditioned by a number of factors (economic, technological, environmental) their correct determining depends on the correct definition of the number and quality of measurements and hydrogeological observations. In practice, these measurements tend to be shortened to minimum (test pumping) or discarded (diagnostics of well construction) for financial reasons. As a result the user obtains either over- or underestimated information about the intake parameters. Exploitation of a well with overestimated capacity brings about serious technological and economic consequences, starting from the lowered productivity (drop of water table, lower yield), change of chemical composition of water, sanding up of the well as well as well failures and damage. The use of a well with underrated output does not shorten the life of the well, though is disadvantageous for the economic reasons. The productivity of wells can be verified after a few years of controlled extraction, on the basis of which the cost of water extraction, stability of chemical composition or impact on other intakes in given work conditions. Accordingly, this is a basis for updating usable groundwater reserves of the wells. Moreover, after many years of observation of groundwater intakes, one can formulate recommendations warrantying long life of wells, rational management of pump aggregates and well renovation plans.

Opis:
Use of deep water-bearing horizons on an industrial scale is an expensive undertaking, mainly in the first phase of the project which is the well construction stage. Also, emergencies occur during the well operation, with the most frequent including yield reduction caused by the poor technical condition of the well. These 17 frequently lead to the total decommissioning of the well, caused, for example, by backfill, filter damage or casing pipe damage. After conducting the proper diagnostics, a decision is most often made in such cases to reconstruct a well, and much less seldom to drill a new well hole. Reconstruction of water intake wells usually encompasses replacement of the entire filter column with the well filter damaged as a result of ageing. As new technologies and materials become available on the market, it is possible to use new generation filters in the well construction, with better technical parameters (in terms of strength, hydraulics and corrosion resistance). In many cases, it allows for maintaining or achieving similar operational parameters in the reconstructed well. The determination of resources for a reconstructed well should, however, take into account modified filtration conditions in the aquifer’s zone adjacent to the filter because of the zone siltation during previous use of the well. The paper includes an evaluation of the impact of the reconstruction of two wells extracting water from the Lower Cretaceous level on improvement of their yields.

The aim of the study presented was to verify empirically a conception of workaholism as a multidimensional syndrome. The study also investigated the notion of ‘functional’ and ‘dysfunctional’ types of workaholic, on the basis of the participants’ cognitive evaluations of their quality of life. The research group comprised Polish managers who had graduated with, or were studying to attain, a Master’s degree in Business Administration. The 137 participants completed a set of questionnaires that were based on five different research tools. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the theory that workaholism has a three-dimensional structure that includes behavioural, cognitive, and affective dimensions. Using cluster analysis, three types of worker were identified, two of which represented types of workaholic with different scores for the dimensions of workaholism and for aspects of quality of life. The research demonstrated that workaholism is a three-dimensional construct. It enabled the integration of different perspectives and also confirmed that dysfunctional and functional types of workaholic exist. Furthermore, this paper provides practical insights about workaholism for practitioners of human resources that can be used in the selection and evaluation of employees.

Psychology of the quality of life
mental well-being
subjective well-being of post-existentialism
Opis:
The psychological well-being and its perception became a wave of post-existentialism and the de- velopment of the concept of positive psychology, one of the key research problems of contemporary psychology. One can not ignore the dichotomous division of the concept of mental well-being - de- rived from ancient reflection on happiness - into hedonistic and eudaemonist theories (Ryff, 1989). The hedonistic perspective, whose representative was Epicurus, treated happiness as pleasure. On the other hand, the basis of eudaemonic reasoning - represented by Aristotle - was a moral, meaningful life. Eudaymonia is a composition of everything that a man needs for a happy life - with happiness being not the same as pleasure, but without happiness life will not be pleasant. The article presents the main theories of human mental well-being, along with an indication of the directions of research in which they can be used.

The article is a review paper on the issue of life satisfaction in seniors. Nowadays, it is very difficult for the elderly to achieve an optimum level of life satisfaction due to the changing reality and their difficulty adapting to it, changes in their functioning resulting from the aging process, abandonment by their families, poor social and living conditions or lack of proper medical care. These factors inspire reflection on the actual state of the sense of life satisfaction in seniors. The aim of the article is to explain the concept of life satisfaction, describe the notions related to it along with similarities and differences in meaning between them, investigate and interpret contemporary theories of life satisfaction, and show the diversity of methodological approaches and relationality in conducting research on life satisfaction in seniors. The idea is also to highlight the importance of research on life satisfaction in elderly people and to develop a senior citizen policy. Data collection was based on the method of content analysis of scientific research studies in the field of social sciences.

While drilling a well using rotary drilling method with drilling mud application, permeability damage of aquifer layers in near-well zone takes place. It is caused mainly by inflow of both solid phase and filtrate originated from the mud into pores or fractures of drilled rock. In consequence of this phenomenon, pressure drawdown increase and well hydraulic efficiency decrease can be observed, what leads to exploitation capacity diminution. For the reparation of formation damaged permeability in near-well zone, new agent for disintegration of clay minerals called SKINAUT was developed at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty of AGH-UST Krakow. In order to confirm its effectiveness in industrial conditions, it was conducted test of well activation for water intake from loose formation. Applied agent allowed to counteract the clogging of pore spaces and to reduce the hydraulic resistance of well thereby decreasing pressure drawdown and considerably improving well efficiency.

Sampling from three wealthy counties in Shandong province (n = 855), this research examined the characteristics of an output well-being index, and the index shows good internal consistency reliability and ideal construct validity. It could be used as an instrument to evaluate the quality of life of Chinese citizens. The index was applied to an analysis of the quality of life of the residents from three wealthy counties. It shows that the level of the quality of life of the rural residents is higher than that of the urban residents, but the level of some indicators is imbalanced, and the levels of subjective and objective indicators are consistent. These characteristics of the well-being index of the rural residents from the wealthy counties are closely related with the level of the local economy and social development. It is advised that the output well-being index could be used to evaluate the degree of citizen’s need that was met and the degree of human being’s all-over development that was realized. It could also be used as an important policy instrument for the policy makers’ good governance.

Quality of life – terminological arrangements
Opis:
Psychological well-being is treated in psychology as a constitutive element of quality of life, expressed in a subjective aspect, determining the satisfaction of the individual with personal life, or also treated as a synonymous term. Most psychological theories focus on the subjective approach, in which quality of life is understood as psychological well-being units (Bartosz, Klebaniuk, 2006; Czapiński, 2008;, Derbis, 2000; Diener, Lucas, Oishi, 2008; veenhoven, 1996, 2005; Zalewska, 2003). In this perspective, various aspects of life are assessed from the perspective of the individual who performs the assessment process using their own individual criteria. Mental well-being indicates an individual experience of contentment and happiness in life. This assessment includes both cognitive judgments about the sense of satisfaction and fulfillment, as well as emotional responses to occurring events. In this sense, psychological well-being is a broad concept that enables people to make judgments about their lives, instead of relying on external quality assessments of their own lives.

Opis:
In recent decades, the issue of life quality and its determinants has been increasingly discussed in the scientific literature. One of the key determinants of subjective well-being is the fact of being in a relationship (formal or not) as well as its quality. The results of analyzes for other countries show that people who have a partner have a higher subjective well-being than people who do not live with their spouse, while divorced people have the lowest (and the highest level of depression). In addition to being in a relationship, its quality is also important: people more satisfied with marriage declare greater well-being than those less satisfied. The aim of the study is to analyze quality of life (expressed in terms of well-being and depression) among older people in Poland, putting emphasis on their individual (e.g. age, sex, health status, level of education) and household (financial situation) characteristics. Importantly, the analysis takes into account the quality of the marriage approximated by the satisfaction with marriage declared by both spouses separately. For the purposes of this study I use data of ‘Social Diagnosis’ study carried out in 2015 in Poland. The final sample was limited to partnered older people aged 65+. Basic individual socio-demographic and economic as well as household characteristics were controlled for. The results show that older partnered men in Poland have higher subjective well-being than older partnered women. Also, older partnered men report significantly higher levels of marital satisfaction than older partnered women do. Moreover, it should be underlined that higher levels of marital satisfaction among older spouses may be beneficial for their own quality of life expressed by well-being and depression. Thus, better opinion about marriage may increase subjective well-being and decrease depression level. However, this relationship is different for older partnered men and women. Positive relationship between marital satisfaction and well-being is stronger for partnered women when subjective well-being is taken into account and for men when well-being is understood as depression level.

Anxiety trait is a relatively stable personality trait, which refers to the differences between individuals in terms of their tendency to experience state anxiety in response to the anticipation of a threat. Regular sport activity may influence some aspects of emotional adjustment in positive way and so on an individual´s well-being. The aim of the study is to find out the possible differences in the level of separate dimensions of personal well-being of men and women with increased anxiety trait level, regarding their sport activity. The research sample consists of 74 respondents in late adolescence (30 men: athletes n=12, nonathletes n=18; 44 women athletes n=18, nonathletes n=26). We have used the standardized STAI questionnaire to determine the level of anxiety trait and standardized BDP questionnaire to determine the level of personal well-being (with respect to its two positive dimensions and three negative dimensions). The results have showed that male athletes demonstrated a significant higher level of positive attitude towards life (p=0.01) and a significantly lower level of awareness of problems (p=0.04) and depressive mood (p=0.03) as male nonathletes. Female athletes demonstrated a significant higher level of positive attitude towards life (p=0.02) and selfevaluation (p=0.00) while a significant lower level of depressive mood (p=0.04) as female nonathletes. Our findings indicate that regular sport activity can be a suitable instrument to increase personal wellbeing (in some aspects of well-being) of women and men with higher level of anxiety trait.
