    Opis:
    The preliminary part of the study presents a scientific profile of Professor Tadeusz Szymański in the initial (over twenty years) period of his research activity at the Institute of Slavic Studies (Slavistics) of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the article the particular attention was paid to the participation and researcher’s contribution to the Proto‑Slavic lexicon which is archival these days. The initial versions of the PSL vocabulary words *medvědь, *mešьka (*mečьka) and *mekati developed by Tadeusz Szymański became the starting point to present them in a broader research perspective (not only etymological, but also ethno‑ and geolinguistics), more than 50 years after being developed. It is worth emphasizing that, despite the significant progress on the work on PSL lexicology, these unique dictionary materials can still serve as a starting point for further detailed research and verification of existing findings.

    The article presents the academic achievements of Mieczysław Buczyński, Ph.D. (1936-1992) with special emphasis placed on his dialectological and onomastic research in the Lublin area. The scholar created a card index for the Dictionary of the Huszcza in Podlasie dialect which index consists of more than 100 thousand words. The vocabulary can serve as a basis for describing linguistic interference between the local Ukrainian dialects and the insular Polish dialect. Another area of Mieczysław Buczyński’s academic interest was onomastics, especially urban names and anthroponymy. The studies of the names in Lublin were conducted with respect to the object and the methodology. In his descriptions of urban names, Mieczysław Buczyński took into consideration the linguistic as well as the extra-linguistic factors. Anthroponyms of Armenian origin, presented with respect to the inhabitants of Zamość, played an important role in the scholar’s onomastic studies. The article presents the academic achievements of the prematurely deceased scholar and a person born and living in the Lublin area. He was involved in pioneering research and nouvelle methodology, largely supported by the ethnic and cultural diversity of the region with which Mieczysław Buczyński always identified himself.

    This paper presents an overview of the activities and results of the European Network of German and Contrastive Linguistics (GerCoLiNet), which was part of the European University Alliance 4EU+ (May 2021 – June 2022). With the cooperation of five European universities (Copenhagen, Milan, Paris, Prague, Warsaw) as well as the Institute for German Language (Mannheim) as an external partner, the network put together a training programme for MA and PhD students of German language and literature at the universities involved in the project. Developed within the framework of contrastive linguistics, the programme takes into account empirical approaches to both theoretical and applied aspects with special attention paid to the fields of Corpus Linguistics, Lexicology, Lexicography, and Discourse Analysis. In keeping with the basic ideals of Flagship 2, i.e. Europeanness, data literacy and multilingualism, particular emphasis was placed on networking among students and young academics within the 4EU+ Alliance. In this paper I first discuss the role and the importance of German, the exclusive lingua franca within the project, as an identity-forming element. Then, I explain the four main phases of the project; finally, I outline some innovative teaching strategies which were used to promote and increase interaction between partners as well as between the students involved in the project.

    Filip Stanislavov’s Abagar was and remains the object of various research studies in the fields of history, philology, book printing, Catholic propaganda, etc. The last 5 years have contributed to the overall studying record of this first printed book with elements of modern Bulgarian. How to promote a new rendition of the text, how to celebrate the anniversary of Abagar’s publication, how to present the existing phototypic editions, translations, digitalised version, as well as the long lasting scholarly tradition on Abagar? The article aims to offer a preliminary answer to the more general question on how the old written sources could and should become language resources.
    Abagar Filipa Stanisławowa pozostaje obiektem różnorodnych badań naukowych w sferze historii, filologii, sztuki drukarskiej, propagandy katolickiej itd. Ostatnie 5 lat poszerzyły obszar badań nad pierwszej drukowanej książki zawierającej elementy nowoczesnego bułgarskiego języka poprzez znaczące wkłady badaczy. W jaki sposób promować nowe wersje tekstu, obchodzić 360-tą rocznicę jego publikacji, jak optymalnie przedstawiać wydania fototypiczne, przekłady, zdigitalizowane wersje w świetle długiej tradycji badawczej Abagara? Niniejszy artykuł proponuje kilka wstępnych odpowiedzi na szersze pytanie jak stare dokumenty piśmiennictwa mogą i powinny pełnić funkcję zasobów językowych.

    The article is an attempt to establish the position of the scholarly achievements of Wojciech Ryszard Rzepka (almost exclusively in the field of the history of the Polish language) on the background of the scholarly activity of his predecessors. The author adopted the output of his teacher and scholarly master, Władysław Kuraszkiewicz, as the most important reference point. The author has examined more closely three currents in the research activity of Wojciech Rzepka: his lexical studies, his editorial and lexicographical output. Concluding the article, the author considered Rzepka most prominent historian of the Polish language in his generation – a researcher whose scholarly achievements are marked by originality and novelty as well as a harmonious combination of the dominating empiricism and understanding for the theory and methodology of historical linguistics.
