Aim: In the first section of the paper, a brief outline is presented of the economic theory delineating the concept of unemployment and its association with the level of wages. The concept of unemployment and contemporary theories of this phenomenon are discussed. The paper also includes criticism of certain parts of neoclassical theory of the labour market which represents the author’s own thoughts. It is concerned especially with the equilibrium price on this market, in other words, the level of wages and labour supply curve. The aim of the paper is to analyze the effect of unemployment on the level of wages in the enterprise sector in Poland. Design / Research methods: Linear correlation between monthly data from 2000 to 2014 were used. Certain measures were employed, such as differencing or shifting time series (in both directions), to avoid the effect of seasonality, that is, of apparent correlation on the study results, and to determine precisely the direction of correlation between variables. This methodology allows for increased reliability of the results produced. Conclusions / findings: Thanks to that, it was possible to observe a clear statistically significant negative effect of unemployment on the level of wages in Poland in the analyzed period. This effect, on both nominal and real wages, was lagged by one month. Originality / value of the article: The results of the research represent scientific value added of the paper and can be taken into consideration while making decisions concerned with the country’s macroeconomic policy.

Opis:
Empirical research concerning the relation between level of remuneration and education of labour force has been conducted in different countries for many years. Not only economists and politicians are interested in this vital issue but also the majority of society. The level of wages is important for all employed and unemployed people. The relationship between the level of remuneration and education of labour force has significant influence on making decision process. Studying at a university is not only financial investment but also long-term life investment, because nobody can get back years spending on studying. The purpose of this article is to analyze influence of higher education on the general level of remuneration in the enterprises sector in Poland (macroeconomics interpretation). Most empirical research focuses on microeconomics interpretation of the relation between the level of wages and education of labour force.In the first part of the article the connection between university education and the level of wages, described in the theory of economy and empirical research conducted in different countries, is presented. Linear correlation between quarterly data describing variables (percentage of people with higher education in the community of 15- 64 years old people; average real and nominal remuneration in the enterprises sector in Poland) since 2005 to 2014 was used in order to reach the main goal of the paper. Using quarterly data enabled to obtain proper amount of observations. Some measures were undertaken to eliminate the trend and seasonal influence on the results of research (first subtractions, dynamics of variables) in order to avoid a danger of apparent correlation. Other procedure (variables’ shifts in time) was used to precisely point the direction of correlation between variables. Of course the results of the research were also analyzed using the theory of economics and the results of empirical research conducted in different countries. This methodology, described above, enables to draw reliable conclusions. The research conducted in this paper allowed to obtain unequivocal but surprising results. The clear, statistically reliable, negative influence of a change of a percentage of people with higher education on the dynamics of a change of general level of remuneration (either nominal or real) in the enterprises sector in Poland in the analyzed period was found out. This influence was observed with no delay and also with twoquarter delay. Additionally spatial analysis (in regional scale) in chosen years was conducted to confirm the results of the main research. It enabled to draw a conclusion that despite the fact that employees with higher education earn more than other workers, the dynamics of the growth of their wages was decreasing. It was probably due to the fact that the percentage of people with higher education in Polish society was growing rapidly in analyzed years and a quick increase in work supply of employees with university education lowered the dynamics of a growth of general level of remuneration in the enterprises sector.

The aim of the paper is to examine how the introduction of state regulation and self-regulation impacts on the disclosure of director and executive remuneration in Australia. In doing so, we step beyond the simple state-market dichotomy in the extant literature, and proposes a symbiotic association between both regulatory modes for remuneration governance. The study reveals that remuneration disclosure levels are significantly higher after the advent of both self-regulatory and state regulatory reforms rather than state regulation alone. Furthermore, foreign-MNCs which experience increased agency problems due to spatial complexities and increased liabilities of foreignness do not have a superior disclosure level of director and executive remuneration: findings with important messages for policy makers and for regulators.

The aim of the article is to present the principles behind the system for remunerating full professors in Polish state academic schools in the years 1934–39, and changes in the level of the remuneration in that period. The following remuneration systems were also compared: the quota system, established on 1 February 1934 and in force until the outbreak of World War II, and the preceding point scoring system in force in the years 1923–34. The study is based on source materials such as an analysis of state legal acts dating from 1918–39. To begin with, particular stages of the transformation of the legislation governing remuneration in academic schools are discussed, and the position of the quota remuneration system that existed. It then presents the essence of the new remuneration system and particular components of the remuneration are classified into the base salary and supplementary remuneration; where the supplementary remuneration comprised: a local allowance and function-related allowance. These amounts are compared to the previous status, in an attempt to find a common denominator for data from different periods and to prepare the most reliable comparisons. The amount of a professor’s remuneration, established in 1934, remained stable until the end of the interwar period. Until 1939 no changes were made to the amount of a full professor’s various remuneration components. The rules for paying them did not change to any great extent. This was associated with the general economic situation in Poland, as well as being related to the successful implementation of new legal regulations.

Sprawiedliwość jest kluczowym parametrem oceny poziomu wynagrodzenia. W polskiej literaturze brakuje analiz empirycznych analizujących istotę tego konstruktu. Główny celem przeprowadzonych badań była identyfikacja czynników wpływających na ocenę sprawiedliwości i ich zróżnicowania w zależności od poziomu płac. Wyniki analizy SEM‑PLS na podstawie danych zebranych na reprezentatywnej próbie pracujących Polaków wykazały, że rodzaj czynników zmienia się przy miesięcznej kwocie wynagrodzenia 3500 PLN netto. Poniżej tej kwoty na ocenę sprawiedliwości wynagradzania wpływa troska przełożonego, system wynagradzania oraz przekonanie o słuszności różnicowania wynagrodzeń na podstawie nakładów, zadań i wyników. Powyżej wymienionej kwoty na tę ocenę również wpływa troska przełożonego oraz relacje w miejscu pracy.
Justice is a key parameter in assessing remuneration. Polish literature lacks empirical analyses of the essence of this construction. The main objective of the research was to identify the factors influencing the assessment of justice and their differentiation depending on the pay level. The results of the SEM‑PLS analysis based on data collected on a representative sample of employed Poles showed that the type of factors changes with a monthly net salary of PLN 3,500. Below, the assessment of the fairness of remuneration is influenced by the concern of the superior, the compensation system and the belief in the rightness of remuneration differentiation based on inputs, tasks and results. Above this there are supervisor concerns and relationships in the workplace.
