Opis:
This article presents a standardized research tool containing a number of strategies that can help discipline in the classroom drawn from various known models of discipline. Attention was paid to the opportunity for specialists such as educators, psychologists, therapists, and/or teachers to work with this tool. The tool helps to facilitate the recognition of undesirable behaviour in the classroom and facilitates the selection of a whole set of policies of discipline that is used to solve a particular problem and that can be applied to a particular student, his/her style of behaviour, and the level of motivation presented by him/her.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to validate the Polish adaptation of the Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire (TSRQ; Ryan, Conell, 1989), which measures the degree of self-determination in risk behaviour changes (diet, exercise and smoking). The study comprised 219 patients (101 after acute coronary syndrome and 118 with type 2 diabetes), beginning to undergo treatment. The Global Motivation Scale was used to test a convergent validity. The confi rmatory factor analysis (CFA) did not support the theoretical four-factor model, thus an exploratory analysis was conducted to determine an optimal model across risk behaviours. The adopted two-factor model matched original TSRQ subscales: autonomous motivation and external regulation (it did not contain the items from the introjected regulation and amotivation subscales). The internal consistency of factors (Cronbach’s α) ranging from .78 to .89. Structural equation modeling revealed the impact of global motivation on contextual motivation, limited to the equivalent type of regulation. The action aimed at supporting patient’s autonomy should consider the particular behaviour and the global motivation as a resource in disease.

Opis:
Teacher motivation plays an important role in the success of education, which is influenced by many factors. Therefore, this article examines how gender, tenure, and level of education influence teacher motivation. Data were collected with the use of questionnaires of 135 Indonesian teacher respondents, in-dept interviews, and observations. Numeric data were analyzed by means of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS analysis). The research showed that male teachers are more motivated than female teachers. Junior teachers have a higher motivation than senior teachers. Teachers with a bachelor’s degree are more motivated than teachers with a master’s degree.

Opis:
The article is about philological studies in Poland. It discusses the results of a survey conducted at 43 programs at philological studies in 13 Polish universities, with the aim of outlining the profile of students starting their studies (first year of bachelor’s and master’s programs) and those completing them (final year of bachelor’s and master’s programs). In the first case, the goal was to understand the motivations for pursuing studies and the expectations associated with them. In the second case, the objective was to determine the level of satisfaction with the completed studies and the reasons for satisfaction or dissatisfaction. In total, nearly 5000 respondents participated in the study. The results allowed us to draw conclusions regarding the profile of contemporary students of foreign philology and to propose some directions in which the programs might evolve.

Opis:
The main aim of this paper is to report the outcomes of a questionnaire study diagnosing children’s level of motivation to master English and its potential correlates, conducted among 78 primary school second graders attending one of the biggest public primary schools in Wrocław, Poland. The presentation of results is preceded by a brief overview of motivation models in SLA and analysis of earlier theoretical discussions and research in this area. The data suggest that the motivation level of the participants was high. Interestingly, the internal factors were found to be stronger correlates of motivation intensity (r = .68) than external factors (r = .40/ r = .42). More specifically, the factors most strongly related to motivation were as follows: integrative motives (r = .67), L2 user self-perception (r = .58) and aesthetic assessment of the target language (r = .54).

Opis:
International comparative research programmes provide a wealth of knowledge about the results achieved by pupils and the socio-professional status of parents, but there is a lack of research focused on analysing the attitudes of the students themselves towards the learning process and the factors that motivate them to learn. Insufficient in-depth research in the field of education concerns especially sub-Saharan Africa. In June 2016, the author conducted a survey research in all schools located within the district town Miandrivazo. The study was conducted on a group of 581 students. One of the aims of the research was to identify the motives of students to take up school education. Based on the research, we can clearly see that for the surveyed students, education is an instrumental value, a means to achieve their goals. Knowledge acquired at school is also a value in itself for the students. It is a good, a heritage, and the best thing that their parents can offer them.
