    The new model of philosophical education that functions in Polish schools requires a change. In order to adapt teaching of philosophy to the needs and expectations of students it is necessary to introduce new educational method. Learning should refer to practical problems and solutions using the project method. The use of this method in education of cooperation brings extraordinary effects. Thanks to that students activate themselves socially, they become more aware of the philosophical problems, and independently develop their curiosity about the world.

    Młodzi ludzie już od początkowych etapów kształcenia powinni być świadomi zagrożeń i wrażliwi na piękno przyrody, gdyż tylko prawidłowe oddziaływanie na nich od wczesnych lat dzieciństwa daje pozytywne efekty. W celu poznania opinii na temat roli nauczyciela jako stymulatora rozwoju zainteresowań uczniów przeprowadzono badania sondażowe, które dały możliwość diagnozy sposobów kształtowania i rozwijania zainteresowań przyrodniczych wśród dzieci w wieku wczesnoszkolnym. Z analizy uzyskanych informacji wynika, że najmłodsi są ciekawi świata, dlatego poznawanie go odbywa się w różny sposób: za pomocą obrazów, mowy i dźwięków. Jednakże kontakt bezpośredni zdaniem respondentów daje większą radość, satysfakcję i zadowolenie z odkrycia czegoś nowego. Szczególnie ważnym elementem kształcenia w myśl zasad edukacji prośrodowiskowej jest podjęcie wszelkich działań w placówkach szkolnych, których celem jest stymulowanie świadomości środowiskowej, a także przygotowanie kadry pedagogicznej do wdrażania wielu metod i strategii pozwalających na uzyskanie jak najlepszych wyników podczas edukowania młodego pokolenia. Reforma systemu edukacyjnego stawia nowe wyzwanie nauczycielom i określa zasady tworzenia, adaptowania i realizacji programów edukacyjnych, w tym programu interdyscyplinarnego na każdym etapie kształcenia. Wymaga to ogromnej wiedzy, twórczego podejścia do zadań edukacyjnych, a przede wszystkim przekonania o potrzebie modyfikacji sposobów pracy. Oczekiwania dotyczące efektów pracy dydaktyczno-wychowawczej stale rosną, a treści, metody i organizacja kształcenia ciągle się zmieniają.
    Already from the initial stages of education young people should be aware of threats and be sensitive to the beauty of nature because only proper influences exerted on tchem since early years of childhood give positive effects. Surveys have been conducted in order to seek an opinion as to the role of a teacher as a stimulus for developing students’ interests. The surveys have given an opportunity to diagnose the ways of shaping and developing interests in nature among children in their early years at school. An analysis of the collected information reveals that young children are curious about the world, and that is why they become familiar with it in a variety of ways, by means of images, speech and sounds. However, according to the respondents, it is the direct contact that brings more joy, satisfaction and pleasure out of discovering something new. It is a particularly important element of teaching, according to the principles of pro-environmental education, to undertake all actions in educational centres, whose aim is to stimulate the environmental awareness of young people, as well as to prepare the pedagogical staff to the implementation of the wide range of methods and strategies that allow to get the best results during the process of educating the young generation. The reform of the educational system creates new challenges for teachers and defines the rules of formation, adaptation and realisation of the educational programmes, including interdisciplinary programmes at all stages of education. It requires enormous knowledge, a creative attitude towards educational tasks, and moreover, the belief concerning the need for the modification of the ways of working. The requirements referring to the effects of the didactic and educational work are constantly increasing, and the contents, methods as well as the organisation of education are constantly changing.

    As in any human action, motivation is playing a key role in learning foreign languages. There are different types of motivation – one of them is curiosity. Curiosity is one of the strongest motivators, since it is based in the human character. Psychologists call curiosity the core of motivation. In my paper I will address a new learning technique, which consists of two didactic concepts at the same time: Learning by teaching and subject orientated learning. Subject orientated learning means the combination of a specific content to be learnt and a given person.

    This article gives some examples of students’ systematic semi-autonomous work in the multimedia master’s seminar, which enhances their language competencies as well as strictly technical skills. The theoretical background, based on the results of research carried out by the author in 2005–2019, demonstrates how knowledge of learners’ first and second languages is advantageous during the acquisition of a third language. Seeing that this process is individual (every learner has his or her different “linguistic biography”), it is difficult take this fact into account in the coursebooks. E-learning courses, which allow students to work in semi-autonomy, become helpful in this situation. Accommodating the needs of biand trilingual students, prospective foreign-language teachers and translators create their own multimedia resources that fill gaps in the didactic offerings. Moreover, the unusual forms of learning by teaching (LdL – from the German phrase Lernen durch Lehren) improve the quality of the learning process, helping students achieve the desired language and communication skills.

    The subject of this article is the concept of learning by teaching used for the training of teachers of German. Foreign language teacher training is currently no doubt one of the most important challenges resulting from the educational policies of countries within the European Union. In Poland, the necessity for remedial, preventive or promotional actions with regard to the teaching of foreign languages seems to pertain first of all to the teachers of German (and their training facilities), as the justification for German’s presence in the Polish schools is increasingly being questioned. Unfortunately, there are numerous examples in school practice which show that the contemporary approach to the teaching ofGerman as a foreign language continues to follow a traditional, transmission model, with great perseverance and consistency.In order to change this situation, it is necessary to find some effective educational solutions for foreign language teacher training. The search should focus on those educational tools which will enable teachers-to be to meet their teaching goals and conduct the teaching process in line with the current theories of language teaching. One of many such tools, which I have decided to examine more closely, is the concept of learning by teaching (Lernen durch Lehren), initiated by Jean Pol Martin.This paper presents the main assumptions of the concept of LdL and describes a training programme (developed following the LdL approach) carried out with the students of faculty of German who are future teachers ofGerman. The conclusions drawn seem quite promising for teacher training.

    Cel badań. Celem analizy jakościowej było porównanie dwóch rodzajów kursu języka obcego e-learning: kursu języka hiszpańskiego na platformie Duolingo i kursu typu MOOC Basic Spanish 1: Getting started pod względem warunków uczenia się. Badanie ilościowe zrealizowano w celu porównania osób wybierających kurs na wspomnianych dwóch rodzajach platform pod względem poziomu samooceny globalnej, samooceny językowej oraz motywacji do nauki języków. Metodologia. Jako kryteria analizy jakościowej przyjęto dwanaście zasad dobrych praktyk w edukacji językowej zaproponowanych przez Browna (2002); to jest: (1) automatyzacja, (2) uczenie się ze zrozumieniem (ang. meaningful learning), (3) antycypacja nagrody, (4) motywacja wewnętrzna, (5) strategiczna inwestycja, (6) językowe ego (ang. language ego), (7) samoocena, (8) podejmowanie ryzyka, (9) relacja język – kultura, (10) wpływ języka ojczystego, (11) interjęzyk (ang. interlanguage) oraz (12) kompetencja komunikacyjna. W badaniu ilościowym wzięło udział 261 uczących się języka hiszpańskiego, którzy utworzyli dwie grupy badawcze: grupę użytkowników platformy Duolingo oraz grupę użytkowników kursów typu MOOC na platformie edX, FutureLearn i Udemy. Zostali oni poproszeni o wypełnienie trzech kwestionariuszy w wersji elektronicznej (SES Rosenberga, kwestionariusz do badania samooceny językowej oraz kwestionariusz do badania motywacji do nauki języków obcych autorstwa Noels, Clément i Pelletier (2001)). Do analizy wyników wykorzystano test t-Studenta oraz test niezależności chi-kwadrat. Wyniki. Analiza kursu języka hiszpańskiego na platformie Duolingo oraz kursu typu MOOC na platformie edX wykazała, że Duolingo w większym stopniu spełnia kryteria automatyzacji, antycypacji nagrody oraz samooceny, a kurs MOOC ma przewagę w zakresie uczenia ze zrozumieniem, włączania kultury w naukę języka, balansu pomiędzy językiem obcym a językiem ojczystym oraz kompetencji komunikacyjnej. Analiza ilościowa nie wykazała istotnych różnic pomiędzy grupami w zakresie samooceny globalnej. Osoby uczące się na platformie Duolingo miały za to wyższą samoocenę językową od osób uczących się na kursach MOOC. Grupy różniły się również pod względem wskazywanych motywacji do nauki. Wnioski. Analiza jakościowa ujawniła różnice pomiędzy dwoma implementacjami e-learningu, a także ich braki. Materiał językowy bywa odarty z kontekstu i przekazywany w zmechanizowany sposób (Duolingo) lub kurs w niewystarczający sposób motywuje i utrwala zdobytą wiedzę (edX). Zmienną pośredniczącą w badaniu ilościowym mógł być wiek badanych, gdyż 49,2% grupy uczących się na kursach typu MOOC stanowiły osoby w wieku powyżej 61 roku życia.
    Objectives. The objective of this study was to compare two types of foreign language e-learning courses: the Spanish course on Duolingo and the Spanish MOOC course on edX Basic Spanish 1: Getting started, in terms of the learning conditions provided by each course. The quantitative analysis of learners was conducted in order to compare learners from the two types of courses mentioned above in terms of global self-esteem, language self-esteem and motivation. Methods. The twelve principles for good practice in language education proposed by Brown (2002) were used as criteria of qualitative analysis: (1) automaticity, (2) meaningful learning, (3) the anticipation of reward, (4) intrinsic motivation, (5) strategic investment, (6) language ego, (7) self-confidence, (8) risk taking, (9) the language-culture connection, (10) the native language effect, (11) interlanguage, (12) communicative competence. 261 Spanish learners participated in the quantitative part of the study. They were divided into two groups: Duolingo users and MOOC users from the edX, FutureLearn and Udemy platforms. Participants were asked to complete three questionnaires online (Rosenberg’s SES, language self-esteem questionnaire and motivation for language learning scale by Noels, Clément and Pelletier (2001)). The data was analyzed with Student’s t-test and chi-square test of independence. Results. The evaluation of the Spanish course on Duolingo and Spanish MOOC course on edX revealed that Duolingo is more effective in providing learner automaticity, the anticipation of reward and self-confidence, whereas the MOOC course has an advantage in meaningful learning, the language – culture connection, the native language effect and communicative competence. The quantitative analysis of learners’ characteristics indicated significant differences between the groups. Learners from Duolingo had higher language self-esteem than learners from the MOOC courses. Significant differences in motivation were also obtained. Conclusions. The qualitative analysis revealed differences in the implementation of e-learning, as well as its drawbacks. Language material happens to be non-contextual and served in a repetitive manner (as seen on Duolingo). Some online courses fail to keep learners motivated and their knowledge sustainable (as seen on edX). Age could have a mediating effect on the results due to a fact that 49,2% of MOOC group were people above age 61.

    This article illustrates ways of assessing students’ work in the Multimedia master’s seminar and compares the benefits of formative and summative evaluations in this context. During the Multimedia seminar, prospective foreign language teachers and translators create their own multimedia resources, which fill a gap in teaching materials on offer. This allows the students to become specialists in particular areas. This article illustrates ways of assessing students’ work in the Multimedia master’s seminar and compares the benefits of formative and summative evaluations in this context. Students appreciated the importance of formative assessment, recognizing its advantage over summative evaluation. Systematic semi-autonomous work subjected to continual verification proved to be key to the achievement of the desired skills. The results also demonstrated how knowledge of learners’ first and second languages is advantageous, as it allows teachers to more accurately identify and evaluate the difficulties learners face during the acquisition of a third language. These unusual forms of learning by teaching requireconsiderable time and sufficient motivation but notably improve the quality of the learning process.

    Wprowadzenie: Problem specyficznych trudności w uczeniu się z jakim boryka się człowiek, rzutuje na jego psychikę, zachowanie, wpływa na relacje z otoczeniem. Cel badań: W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano badania własne dotyczące poczucia kompetencji u uczniów ze specyficznymi trudnościami w uczeniu się oraz postrzeganego przez nich wsparcia edukacyjnego. Badania przeprowadzono wśród uczniów klas V-VIII szkół podstawowych województwa lubelskiego. Metoda: W badaniach wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego. Wyniki: Pomiar kompetencji osobistych wskazuje, iż uczniowie ze specyficznymi trudnościami w uczeniu się mają niższe poczucie własnej skuteczności niż ich rówieśnicy bez tego zaburzenia. Cechuje ich słabsza siła angażowania się w działania, jak i niższy poziom wytrwałości w dążeniu do sukcesu. Badani odczuwają zdecydowanie mniejsze ogólne poczucie wsparcia pozainstytucjonalnego, jaki i wsparcia ze strony rówieśników i nauczycieli. Wnioski: Gorsze przekonania uczniów ze specyficznymi trudnościami w uczeniu się co do skuteczności własnych działań i możliwości poradzenia sobie w trudnych sytuacjach, korespondują z negatywnym postrzeganiem przez nich wsparcia procesu uczenia się i nauczania przez rodziców, nauczycieli oraz koleżanki i kolegów z klasy szkolnej. Mniejszej wytrwałości w dążeniu do celu, towarzyszy bardziej negatywne postrzeganie wsparcia ze strony rodziców.
    Introduction: The problem of specific learning difficulties experienced by humans has an impact on their psyche, behaviour, relations with the environment. Research Aim: This article presents own studies concerning the sense of competencies in pupils with specific learning difficulties and the educational support perceived by them. The studies were conducted among pupils from grades 5 to 8 of elementary schools in the lubelskie province. Method: The diagnostic poll method was used in the studies. Results: A measurement of personal competencies shows that pupils with specific learning difficulties have a lower sense of own efficacy than their peers without that disorder. They are characterized by less strength of getting involved in activities and lower level of perseverance in achieving success. The respondents have a definitely lower general sense of non-institutional support as well as support from peers and teachers. Conclusion: Poorer beliefs of pupils with specific learning difficulties in the success of their own efforts and ability to cope with difficult situations correspond to their negative perception of support of the process of learning and teaching by parents, teachers and classmates. Less persistence in pursuing goals is accompanied by more negative perception of support from parents.
