Opis:
E-waste refers to electronic products that are of no use, not working properly, and either close to or at the end of their “useful life”. Companies generate large amounts of e-waste when they replace old and outdated IT hardware with new technologies. Disposing of this e-waste is not so simple, as it may contain a significant amount of intellectual property in the form of data. Timely elimination of these records and data is very crucial to secure it. E-waste cannot just be discarded due to associated data security, confidentiality, compliance and environmental risks and policies. Even after deleting data, it can still be prone to social engineering attacks by malicious individuals. Data leakage is the unauthorized transmission of data from within an organization to an external destination or recipient, and it can be transferred electronically or physically. Nowadays, protecting data is of upmost importance for organizations. However, organizations still fail at destroying confidential data from their end-of-life equipment. This article focuses on how to detect data leakage and try to find those responsible for doing so. Different Data Loss Prevention (DLP) techniques that are currently being used by many organizations are discussed and some suggestions are provided for developing more consistent DLP and overcoming the weaknesses prevalent in these techniques. Furthermore, this article discusses various algorithmic, logical, and methodological foundations and procedures followed for large-scale data disposal, determining when the life of data comes to an end.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to identify human traits that are responsible for the propensity to betray and take secrets outside the organisation. For this purpose, an analytical-diagnostic approach has been used. The primary research method to achieve the stated objectives is the method of analysis and critique of the literature on the subject and the analysis of review papers describing security breaches in cyberspace, when the source of these breaches is the exploitation of human personality weaknesses. First of all, personality and character traits leading to taking information outside the organisation or selling important data are identified. Psychopathic tendencies are identified, in addition to the immature, narcissistic and egotistical personality. The reasons for disclosing sensitive data are discussed. In this way, the article shows a different side of the problem of information system security and helps to understand the mechanism of theft or leakage of important information. Since security weaknesses are attributed to personality traits, the article points to the possibility of anticipatory threat recognition and security enhancement. This is achieved through the use of machine learning, artificial intelligence and behavioural analysis. This succeeds in identifying potentially dangerous individuals who are not coping with their own problems.
Artykuł omawia rolę człowieka w systemie zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa cyfrowego. Podjęte na potrzeby artykułu badania wynikają z podejścia analityczno-diagnostycznego. Podstawową metodą badawczą służącą osiągnięciu wyznaczonych celów jest metoda analizy i krytyki literatury przedmiotu oraz analizy prac przeglądowych opisujących naruszenia bezpieczeństwa w cyberprzestrzeni wykorzystujące słabości ludzkiej osobowości. Przede wszystkim identyfikowane są cechy osobowościowe i charakterologiczne prowadzące do wynoszenia informacji poza organizację lub sprzedawanie ważnych danych. Wskazano na skłonności psychopatyczne, a prócz nich wyróżniono jeszcze osobowość niedojrzałą, narcystyczną i egotyczną. Omówione zostały przyczyny ujawniania danych wrażliwych. W ten sposób artykuł ukazuje problem zabezpieczeń systemów informatycznych od innej strony oraz pomaga zrozumieć mechanizm kradzieży lub wycieku ważnych informacji. Skoro słabości zabezpieczeń upatruje się w cechach osobowościowych – artykuł wskazuje na możliwość uprzedzającego rozpoznania zagrożeń i wzmocnienia bezpieczeństwa. Droga do niego wiedzie przez zastosowanie maszynowego uczenia się, wykorzystanie sztucznej inteligencji i analizy behawioralnej. Dzięki temu udaje się zidentyfikować potencjalnie niebezpieczne osoby, nie radzące sobie z własnymi problemami.

Electromagnetic forces generated by the short circuit current and leakage flux in low- and high-voltage windings of distribution transformers as well as amorphous core transformers will cause the translation, destruction, and explosion of the windings. Thus, the investigation of these forces plays a significant role for researchers and manufacturers. Many authors have recently used the finite element method to analyze electromagnetic forces. In this paper, an analytic model is first developed for magnetic vector potential formulations to compute the electromagnetic forces (i.e., axial and radial forces) acting on the low- and high-voltage windings of an amorphous core transformer. The finite element technique is then presented to validate the results obtained from the analytical model. The developed model is applied to an actual problem.

Since the digitalization of terrestrial television, many countries have discontinued television broadcasting in the UHF band. The freed-up frequencies are now available as digital dividends for mobile and fixed wireless access communication networks (MFCN), particularly for 4G/5G and public safety services in broadband called BBPPDR. Since cable TV still uses the UHF band, leakage from cable TV networks is the most common cause of interference in MFCN networks. Insufficient containment of the radio frequency signals transmitted through a cable system results in cable signal leakage. This article investigates the significance of controlling electromagnetic signal leaks from cable TV networks and how they impact authorized and standardized MFCN networks in the digital dividend bands. The periodic drivetest approach to detect and measure electromagnetic leakage from a cable TV system in the 700 MHz band at a site is detailed. The causes of the detected leaks and offered the appropriate procedure to repair them are also discussed. Additionally, the current measures taken in Hungary to address cable television signal leakage in the digital dividend bands are also discussed and alternative strategies for the adopted test drive approach are proposed.

This paper investigates the possibilities for developing a pole-changing winding with a pole ratio of 3:4 with improved electromagnetic properties. Such a winding can be used in two-speed induction motors for turbo mechanisms. The scheme of the new winding was obtained by using a discretely-specified spatial function method developed at the Tashkent State Technical University. A comparison of the parameters obtained for a similar winding received by the pole amplitude modulation method has been presented. Design of a new motor with a new winding is developed based on the standard induction motor. The paper presents results of laboratory tests, too.

To ensure safety in underground mining, it is imperative to equip yourself with electric leakage protection. Today, underground mines are gaining a high degree of mechanization and using more power electronics to enhance the operation and organization of power supplies, including the application of power electronics for DC power transmission in mining. i.e., separate the rectifier (AC-DC) from the inverter (DC-AC) with a long DC cable. The transmission of DC power changes the structure of the mine power network; then there will appear a power network with an industrial frequency of 50 Hz, a DC power network, and a power network after the variable frequency inverter. Due to the mutual interaction between DC power networks and AC power networks, leakage protection devices are unreliable, causing unsafe conditions in mining. The content of the article is to determine the leakage current in the power network when using converters in DC power transmission in mining. The research results are the basis for calculating and selecting leakage protection equipment for the purpose of improving safety in underground mining in Vietnam.

In recent years, Quang Ninh coal mines are continually expanding on size and depth, the total length of the roadway each year amounts about ten thousands meters in order to reach new production zones. The length of new roadways is usually longer, leading to increase to the airflow demand. Ventilation is one of the main factors effecting driving progress of the roadway. The estimation of airflow requirements is usually based on the minimum amount of airflow required at the heading during driving roadways or at the working face, in other words, when the ventilation ductwork is at its maximum length. Therefore, determination of maximum ventilation length of ductwork has been undertaken. This results allow the selection of a reasonable fan to meet the ventilation requirements when driving the roadway. Also, this value is an important parameter for designing auxiliary ventilation system that operates more efficiently on a lower cost.

Geophysical methods, especially selected electrical and electromagnetic ones, have been used for many years for the non-invasive detection of leakages from water supply networks. In this paper, the author focuses on theoretical aspects and numerical simulations to analyse the possibilities and limitations of the application of the selected electromagnetic method, i.e., the ground-penetrating radar (GPR) method for the aforementioned purpose. Various measurement techniques are used in the GPR method but in the paper the author refers to the most commonly used technique known as short-offset reflection profiling (SORP). As demonstrated in the paper, the detection of water leakages into a homogeneous and isotropic geological medium using the GPR method is a simple matter. However, the detection of leakages occurring in heterogeneous ground subjected to strong anthropopression and with the presence of electromagnetic interference becomes a difficult task, and interpretation may be difficult or even impossible. An important issue analysed in the paper was the phenomenon of the scattering of electromagnetic waves on underground anthropogenic objects, which very often occurs in urbanised areas. The results of the numerical modelling carried out for various scenarios of water leakages into typical ground allowed the possibilities and limitations of using the GPR method for the detection of leakages from water supply networks to be determined.

This work investigates the potential of p-type InAs/GaSb superlattice for the fabrication of full mid-wave megapixel detectors with n-on-p polarity. A significantly higher surface leakage is observed in deep-etched n-on-p photodiodes compared to p-on-n diodes. Shallowetch and two-etch-step pixel geometry are demonstrated to mitigate the surface leakage on devices down to 10 μm with n-on-p polarity. A lateral diffusion length of 16 μm is extracted from the shallow etched pixels, which indicates that cross talk could be a major problem in small pitch arrays. Therefore, the two-etch-step process is used in the fabrication of 1280 × 1024 arrays with a 7.5 μm pitch, and a potential operating temperature up to 100 K is demonstrated.

The article presents how the concept of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is reflected in the regulation recently adopted in the EU and what possible effects CBAM may cause. The authors begin with explaining the reasons for the introduction of CBAM. Next, they briefly describe what obligations arise from the mechanism for entities and EU Member States and compare this mechanism to the EU ETS. The challenges facing the mechanism and the possible effects of its implementation are then examined. In the final section, the authors assess the economic impact of the CBAM on the Polish economy, taking into account changes in the price levels, in the value of production, exports and imports, GDP and household consumption in the horizon of 2030. The projection was carried out using the Carbon Regulation Emission Assessment Model (CREAM), which is the static general equilibrium model developed in the Centre for Climate and Energy Analyses (CAKE) at the National Centre for Emission Management (KOBiZE).

The article presents an economic analysis of water leaks from the water suply system on the example of a single-family house, taking into account methods aimed at preventing uncontrolled water losses, including also water consumption reducing methods. The analysis was conducted for selected variants in the economic aspect. The research included measurements of water consumption on the main water meter and specially prepared containers for measuring water leaks. Simple leaks that are not easily visible can generate over 1700 PLN additional costs per year for the household budget. The results of the analyses carried out make it possible to assess which variant of the analysis is the most favourable in economic terms, making it possible to reduce water consumption by up to 60% of the standard consumption. The payback time for the analyzed variants varies from 5 to about 310 days.
W artykule przedstawiono analizę ekonomiczną wycieków wody z sieci wodociągowej na przykładzie domu jednorodzinnego, z uwzględnieniem metod mających na celu zapobieganie niekontrolowanym stratom wody, w tym również metod ograniczających zużycie wody. Analizę przeprowadzono dla wybranych wariantów w aspekcie ekonomicznym. Badania obejmowały pomiary zużycia wody na wodomierzu głównym oraz specjalnie przygotowane pojemniki do pomiaru wycieków wody. Proste wycieki, które nie są łatwo widoczne, mogą narazić budżet domowy na dodatkowe koszty w wysokości ponad 1700 zł rocznie. Wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz pozwalają ocenić, który wariant jest najkorzystniejszy pod względem ekonomicznym, umożliwiając zmniejszenie zużycia wody nawet o 60% zużycia standardowego. Czas zwrotu nakładów dla analizowanych wariantów waha się od 5 do około 310 dni.

Parametrem diagnostycznym izolatorów przepustowych stosowanym standardowo on-line jest pomiar tg między punktem pomiarowym P i kołnierzem K. Wykazano, że tg nie informuje w sposób dostateczny o stanie technicznym izolatora przepustowego. Polecanym parametrem diagnostycznym on-line izolatora jest prąd upływu mierzony w obwodzie rezystancji włączonej między punkty P-K. Korzystne jest sumowanie sygnałów prądowych z izolatorów trzech faz. Sumowanie należy realizować na transformatorku (rys. 9). Pomiar prądu sumarycznego 0 jest prosty w realizacji i wolny od zakłóceń.
The standard diagnostic parameter HV bushings used on-line is the measurement of tgδ between the measuring point P and the flange K. It has been shown that tgδ does not sufficiently inform about the technical condition of the bushing. The recommended on-line diagnostic parameter of the insulator is the leakage current I measured in the circuit of resistance connected between points P-K. It is advantageous to sum the current signals from the insulators of the three phases. Adding up should be done on a transformer (Fig. 9). Measurement of the summary current 0 is simple to implement and free from interferences.

The paper analyses the reasons for the interest in natural gas as a potential marine fuel to replace the existing fuels derived from crude oil. The increase in environmental awareness and the effects of human activity caused the process of searching for more environmentally friendly fuels. Naturally, interest has been shifted to a well-known energy source commonly found on Earth in quantities much more considerable than crude oil. This fuel, in the form of liquefied natural gas, seems to be an attractive substitute for the currently dominant types of marine fuels. The technologies of its extraction, liquefaction, storage and transport were mastered, and marine engines were adopted for its combustion as dual-fuel engines. The regulations introduced by the International Maritime Organization and the European Parliament, forcing the reduction of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere from the combustion of marine fuels, require taking action to meet them. The proposals for individual next 30 years are given. Due to the introduction of regulations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, it is necessary to switch to fuels with a lower or zero carbon content or biofuels recognised as more environmentally friendly. Due to only 25% lower carbon content in methane with its higher lower heating value, it is possible to reduce the direct emission from this gas by about 30%. However, methane leaks occur in the processes from natural gas extraction to the energy effect in engines as a fuel, significantly worsening its image as an ecological fuel. Researches indicate that with current technologies, natural gas should not be recognised as an ecological fuel until gas leaks are significantly reduced. The article justifies why LNG should be considered a transient marine fuel, with the need to switch to other synthetic fuels, ammonia, and hydrogen.

Opis:
This work aims to improve the total power dissipation, leakage currents and stability without disturbing the logic state of SRAM cell with concept called sub-threshold operation. Though, sub-threshold SRAM proves to be advantageous but fails with basic 6T SRAM cell during readability and writability. In this paper we have investigated a non-volatile 6T2M (6 Transistors & 2 Memristors) sub-threshold SRAM cell working at lower supply voltage of VDD=0.3V, where Memristor is used to store the information even at power failures and restores previous data with successful read and write operation overcomes the challenge faced. This paper also proposes a new configuration of non-volatile 6T2M (6 Transistors & 2 Memristors) subthreshold SRAM cell resulting in improved behaviour in terms of power, stability and leakage current where read and write power has improved by 40% and 90% respectively when compared to 6T2M (conventional) SRAM cell. The proposed 6T2M SRAM cell offers good stability of RSNM=65mV and WSNM=93mV which is much improved at low voltage when compared to conventional basic 6T SRAM cell, and improved leakage current of 4.92nA is achieved as compared.

Opis:
The main idea of this article is to adopt the thesis that the main and, at the same time, the most effective (apart from proper maintenance and operation) element of the strategy of limiting water losses in water supply networks is continuous integrated monitoring of the network using the latest achievements of IT technologies, including GIS (Geographical Information System), GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (The Global System for Mobile Communications) and software based on a cloud platform. Considering the above, the paper highlights the problem of leakages against the background of water deficit in the world and proposes a classification of methods for detecting and estimating the size of leakages. On the basis of available literature sources, selected modern and, in the authors’ opinion, most interesting water loss monitoring systems enabling leak detection and estimation of the amount of wasted water are presented. Then, these methods are analysed, pointing to their strengths and weaknesses in terms of leak detection efficiency.
