In this paper the author focuses on the image of the African leaders in the reports of the French international media, above all the journals and magazines that are disseminated in Africa (the weekly „Jeune Afrique" or the monthly „Afrique Magazine"). France is, however, the biggest patron of the Black Continent, at least of its French-speaking part, so the countries that belong to la Franco- phonie (an international organization uniting French-speaking lands). Africa is perceived in the European consciousness as a poor continent with a very rich nature world. Moreover, Africa is perceived by the West also in accordance with the Western standards, so with the liberal-democratic frameworks. As a consequence, the African leaders often are described as political animals (les animaux politiques) or, in the cases of many dictators, as predators of freedom (predateurs de la liberte), like in the case of the Reporters Without Borders' list of the dictators that attack the media. Hence, in many reports from Africa, the leaders receive some metaphoric animal labels like „the black beast" or „the old lion". It is noteworthy that the women taking over the rules in Africa are not perceived as „predators of freedom" or „black beast" that is a good conclusion for the future of this continent.

We can observed that opinion leaders tend to have access to mass media information and external contacts that provide them new ideas from outside. Additionally, the opinion leaders have greater contact with change agents, social participation, higher social status, and more innovativeness. Opinion leaders are used as role models in the adoption of innovations. This can be effective at the social and economic levels of the diffusion process. From the economic perspective of projects’ implementation when diffusing an innovation, opinion leaders multiply the efforts of the change agent, by carrying the message to more possible adopters. This translates into effectiveness by achieving more diffusion in less time. At the social level, once opinion leaders have adopted an innovation, that innovation acquires local sponsorship and credibility. Where, Opinion leaders are heterophilous individuals who observe and evaluate innovations proven by innovators. They are considered early adopters of culturally acceptable innovations and generally are opponents of culturally unacceptable ones. Once opinion leaders approve and adopt and innovation, it influences others in the group who also adopt the innovation to maintain a social and economic status among the social system. Leaders are important determinants of rapid and sustained change, as diffusion happens faster when it is initiated by them. They are considered the bridge between farmers and sources of innovations.

This article presents the results of empirical research on the labour market of city travel guides, regional guides and mountain guides as well as tour leaders. The aim of this article is to evaluate the demand for the services of travel guides and tour leaders. The study included tourism entrepreneurs and the method of a diagnostic survey with the use of computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) was applied. The obtained results confirmed the thesis that the labour market of travel guides and tour leaders is not stable and this is due to the seasonality, level of earnings and changing model of travel organization. The study also showed that in the five-year period from the deregulation of the professions, the market relations between travel guides and tour leaders on the one hand and tourism entrepreneurs on the other did not undergo fundamental changes. The results of the study may be useful for tour operators, organisations associating travel guides and tour leaders as well as for tourism administration at the central and regional level.

In the new religious movements created in Africa at the beginning of the 20th century, one can distinguish three types of leaders: a chief, a prophet, and a messiah. The type of a chief occurs mainly in communities formed following the secession from the missionary Churches. The type of a prophet appears in the communities dominated by the native components. The idea of a messiah and messianism comes from the Bible. The leaders have a decisive influence on the community, they give character, profile and cohesion to their group. Samuel B. Oschoffa, the founder of "The Celestial Church of Christ" is an example of this kind of leader. He got a vision and that vision changed him and inspired him to establish a new Church in Porto Novo in Benin. In short time this Church became popular, grew very rapidly and spread to Nigeria and other African countries and later on to Europe. There were many factors that made this Church so lively. The most important was its charismatic leader. Another factor was the stress put on the community. People, who felt lonely, lost, confused, disappointed with the missionary Church run to this new Church. There they found the sense of belonging, protection and security. Their services were very attractive because of lively singing, drumming and dancing, speaking in tongues. Prophet Oschoffa was in fact a great leader for the people who experienced humiliation, disappointments. He is an example of new generation of charismatic leaders in the period of fast growth of many communities or Churches in Africa and in other parts of the world.

The emergence of separate nationalities often entails standardisation of the language and an attempt to prove its multifunctional nature, while codification as such becomes one of the basic demands of ethnic movements striving to-wards emancipation. In her paper, the author analyses the process of emanci-pation of Silesian in the context of linguistic ideologies, studying above all the ideologies shared by Silesian ethnic leaders. The conclusions presented in the paper are based on analyses of numerous in-depth interviews conducted with Silesian ethnic leaders. This approach makes it possible to take into account, in the analysis of linguistic processes, the point of view of the users of the specific language and their linguistic awareness, and also makes it possible to seek relationships between linguistic awareness, language structure and social phenomena.

The politics in its nature is a process of making decisions. This approach emphasis on political leader who is responsible for defining a situation; formulation a plan of action and mobilize followers. Especially in Africa's context those problems are topical. Furthermore, a mosaic of cultures and religions imply wide deliberation on political leadership. It suggests to find that kind of theoretical concepts which are appropriate to analyses this vast subject. The article analyses three aspects. Firstly, focuses on the relation between political science and study on political leadership. Secondly, the attention is paid on leaders and followers motives for political participation. Finally, author defined political leadership and presents the most suitable theoretical concepts to analyses this topic in Africa's context. This sort of narrative is dictated by problems of diversity of Africa. The most useful theories showed answers for questions: is political leadership always sensible and affective; what kind of elements should be examines in analyses of political leadership; how features of person and a specificity of political system influence on political leaders; which cultures favour political leadership. All this problems are solved in this article. The conclusions allowed to formulate the basis elements for empirical examine.

Scientific discussion on political leadership increasingly takes on the form of interdisciplinary argumentation, in which different research perspectives, models and explanatory conceptual grids overlap. This state of affairs is on the one hand dictated by the contemporary trends in scientific research, especially in the broadly defined social sciences, where the cognitive, explanatory or descriptive relevance is achieved only by taking into account a broader, inter-disciplinary nature of scientific knowledge. In this sense, a thorough, reliable research practice consists primarily in crossing the formal borders of scientific disciplines, where researchers renounce the “complex” of detailed and firm definitions of their own subject of study to turn instead towards integration of knowledge from various, often very different, areas. The above is mainly due to the dispersion of objective scientific knowledge, which is conditioned, among others by: scientific and technical progress, the phenomenon of intertextuality (modern researchers in humanities concentrate their research eff ort on the texts and practices associated with this phenomenon, which means that their primary method in analyses of political phenomena is to fortify the text – specifically, to prepare the scientific text in such a way as to meet the standards of scientific writing and withstand criticism in the absence of the writer); as well as conceptual-theoretical pluralism present in social sciences. On the other hand, it is the result of scientific analysis of the given forms and practices of leadership, where nowadays greater attention is paid to the multi-dimensionality of leadership processes in politics, related to: the multi-level nature of concepts and research (meso, micro and macro-theoretical level analyses) and the need to take into account a large number of variables in the study of leadership (personality and environmental, situational, institutional factors, economic, political or religious variables). The consequence of this state of affairs is the multi-paradigm character of leadership, which in this case means that very often highly different ways of defining and explaining the complex relationship between a particular political leader and followers co-exist within the discipline. In addition, the multiplicity of paradigms of political leadership is a feature demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature of knowledge generated by political science, where various claims, theses, observations or conclusions complement each other, for example those originating in disciplines such as sociology, law, psychology, management sciences and cultural studies.

In 2012 and 2013, in Poland, did not take place any national election. It was excellent perspective to lead comparison research. The subject of this article is presidentialization of electoral preferences. This process depends on situation, when style of parliamentary campaign has become similarly like presidential election and people focus on parties leaders competition. Usually presidentialisation increased without any changes of election rules. The Author focuses on two aspects: determinantes of decisions in potential parliamentary elections and opinion connected with organizing television debates during campaigns. In the article were compared preferences among electoral five main Polish parties. Results of the polls were compared with effects previous surveys (in 2012), which included two the same questions about presidentialisation. First question (about presidentialisation) apply to determinates of decision in potential parliamentary election. In every parties electoral more respondents choose ‘party option’ than ‘leader variant’. The most questioned, who show party leader, find among Law and Justice (PiS) electoral (26,2 per cent). It could be predicted, because JarosławKaczyński (PiS president) is main party symbol and predominant person inside the organization. As surprise can be treated preferences of Civil Platform (PO) electoral. Here value of this ratings reveal 18,3 per cent. In comparison to previous survey (in 2012) it signifies decline about 2,4 per cent. Donald Tusk (the prime minister and PO leader) is the most important component of this party and his attitude was main factor of the winning of two last parliamentary elections (2007 and 2011). Second question apply to organization television debates in every elections. Among electoral every parties find more followers than oppositionists this solution. However in comparison this results to previous polls we can conclude about decrease amount of supporter this postulate. In reality, debates became important element of campaign if politicians understand a role of this issues. But presently political parties and public opinion are not interested in this issue.

This paper discusses the careers and accomplishments of three men who were the de facto leaders of the organized Polish American ethnic community between 1939 and 2005. It shows how they gained and held power in organizations that allowed them to represent the concerns of a large and diverse ethnic community. Each individual played a key role in both defining the Polish community's concerns about Poland, its historic homeland, and articulating these concerns to America's highest elected public officials. This case study underscores the importance of American Polonia, one of the more significant, yet all too little examined organized ethnic groups in American pluralist politics in the second half of the 20th century by focusing on the careers of Charles Rozmarek, Aloysius Mazewski, and Edward Moskal.

The authors’ purpose in this article is to present the way in which strategic leaders may use analytical tools to operate during crisis. Their actions is based on the idea of six main tasks, the so-called “Six Makings”, that they have to accomplish. The idea of critical tasks during crisis was presented on the basis of the COVID-19 situation in Poland and the activities carried out by the Polish government and the Polish Health-care System (Strategic Leaders) to neutralize the negative effects of the pandemic, protect the health and lives of citizens, and care for the economic situation. Qualitative data analysis techniques were used in the research process. The authors concluded that in times of crisis, citizens rely on their leaders and believe that they will ensure their security and a swift return to customary. Strategic leaders must guarantee that the organizations and stakeholders they lead are prepared to counter the future challenges — foreseen and unforeseen alike. The “Six Makings” analytical tool, properly used, could significantly improve the accuracy of decisions made and increase the effectiveness of actions taken.

Leaders in nonprofit organizations face challenges related to assignment and enforcement of tasks. Their influence on employees, who are mostly volunteers, remains largely limited. The purpose of the article is to answer the following research questions: Do leaders in Polish nonprofits feel alone in making decisions and carrying out tasks? Are there any differences between nonprofit, for-profit and public organizations in terms of who is responsible for decision-making? Are there any differences between nonprofit, for-profit, and public organizations in terms of who is responsible for carrying out tasks? A total of 315 non-randomly selected respondents participated in the study: 105 leaders and 210 employees not holding managerial positions (35 and 70, respectively, from each type of organization). The article shares the findings of the analysis of leaders’ statements. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to identify possible cross-sectoral differences. The results prompt a conclusion that a significant part of leaders in Polish nonprofits experience “loneliness” and a sense of being left alone with problems related to the functioning of the organization. To a large extent, they have to make decisions and carry out tasks on their own, as they receive little to no support from employees. The comparative analysis showed that this problem is more prevalent in nonprofits than it is in for-profit or public organizations.
Liderzy organizacji non profit stają w obliczu problemów związanych z delegowaniem zadań i egzekwowaniem ich wykonania. Mają oni ograniczone możliwości wpływania na pracowników, którzy przeważnie są wolontariuszami. Celem artykułu jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na następujące pytania badawcze: Czy liderzy polskich nonprofitów czują się osamotnieni w podejmowaniu decyzji i realizacji zadań? Czy istnieją różnice między organizacjami non profit, for-profit i publicznymi w zakresie tego, kto podejmuje w nich decyzje? Czy istnieją różnice między organizacjami non profit, for-profit i publicznymi w zakresie tego, kto realizuje w nich zadania? W badaniach ankietowych wzięło udział łącznie 315 celowo dobranych respondentów: 105 liderów oraz 210 pracowników niepełniących funkcji kierowniczych (odpowiednio: po 35 oraz po 70 z każdego typu organizacji). W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki analizy wypowiedzi liderów. Zastosowano test Kruskala-Wallisa celem identyfikacji ewentualnych różnic międzysektorowych. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań upoważniają do wniosku, że w polskich organizacjach non profit istotna część liderów czuje się osamotniona i pozostawiona sama z problemami dotyczącymi funkcjonowania organizacji. Muszą oni w znacznym stopniu samodzielnie podejmować decyzje i wykonywać zadania, ponieważ nikt z personelu ich w tym nie wspiera lub czynią to nieliczni.
