Opis:
Advanced metallic material processes (titanium) are used or developed for the production of heavily loaded flying components (in fan blade construction). The article presents one process for diagnosing the blade interior by means of laser ultrasonography. The inspection of these parts, which are mainly made of titanium, requires the determination of the percentage of bonded grain sizes from around 10 to 30 žm. This is primarily due to the advantages of a high signal-to-noise ratio and good detection sensitivity. The results of the research into the internal blade structure are attached.

Opis:
The goal of this study is to present a new theory known as the three-temperature memory-dependent derivative (MDD) of ultrasound stress waves in functionally graded anisotropic (FGA) smart materials. It is extremely difficult to address the difficulties related to this theory analytically due to its severe nonlinearity. As a result, we suggest a new boundary element method (BEM) to solve such equations. The suggested BEM technique incorporates the benefits of both continuous and discrete descriptions. The numerical results are visually represented to demonstrate the impacts of MDD three temperatures and anisotropy on the ultrasound stress waves in FGA smart materials. The numerical findings verify the proposed methodology’s validity and accuracy. We may conclude that the offered results are useful for comprehending the FGA smart materials. As a result, our findings contribute to the advancement of the industrial applications of FGA smart materials.

Opis:
Many high performance and permanent service parts require suitable material characteristics-high fatigue strength is one of the most important characteristics. For this reason, surface treatment processes are essential to increase the material performance and avoid the use of costly ineffective material. There exist various surface treatment processes for various applications. Each process has advantages and disadvantages and hybridization can solve various problems. The micro-forging process delivers a controlled and uniform surface hardness, but the depth of the forged surface is limited. On the other hand, laser heat treatment can increase the hardness drastically, but the surface may become brittle, which reduces the fatigue life. Laser-assisted micro-forging is a novel hybrid process of laser heat treatment and micro-forging that has the potential to increase the forging depth and relax the stress caused by the high temperature of the forging process. This study examines the effect of laser preheating in the micro-forging of AISI 4140. The processes were varied as follows: no treatment, micro-forging only, and laser-assisted micro-forging. The fatigue strength of the specimens was examined by means of an ultrasonic fatigue tester and then compared. The microstructural changes were investigated with respect to the processes by using scanning electron microscopy. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the laser preheating auxiliary forging affects the fatigue life. It was confirmed that the fatigue life was the mostly increased in 550°C temperature laser preheating micro forging process and the temperature was identified as the most important factor.

Opis:
In the context of the investigations of multiphase flows, e.g. in cooperation with the local brewery, the convective transport phenomena during the fermentation are investigated. Due to the strong turbidity of the medium, the measurement of velocity profiles is complicated. The difficulties of an investigation with a biological fermentation fluid are the many complex interactions between the different three phases (solid, gas, liquid). Furthermore, natural convection processes are superimposed by rising gas bubbles and the high turbidity of the fluid only allow an acoustic velocity measurement. This leads to high requirements for the measurement technology and the following evaluation. In previous investigation, ultrasonic transducers are used for the non-contact determination of velocity fields in fluids. The results of these past projects show that the measurement signals of the ultrasonic transducers used can be influenced by many factors. In order to verify the results of the transducers and to investigate the existing uncertainties, a flow configuration with a relatively stable reproducible flow pattern is required. In this study, a calibration system for ultrasonic transducers is developed, manufactured and validated by means of optical measurement technology such as the LDA. The experimental setup in this study produces a constantly reproducible Taylor Couette fluid flow. Geoffrey I. Taylor observed in 1923 that at a certain Reynolds number regular ring vortices are superimposed on the base flow. Along the axis, these vortices occur at the same distance, but with an alternating sense of rotation. Finally, a measurement using Ultrasonic Doppler Velocimetry in a model fluid will be compared with an optical measurement technique.

Opis:
The influence of surface heat treatment using laser radiation on the fatigue strength and corresponding microstructural evolution of AISI 4140 alloy steel was investigated in this research. The AISI 4140 alloy steel was radiated by a diode laser to give surface temperatures in the range between 600 and 800°C, and subsequently underwent vibration peening. The fatigue behavior of surface-treated specimens was examined using a giga-cycle ultrasonic fatigue test, and it was compared with that of non-treated and only-peened specimens. Fatigue fractured surfaces and microstructural evolution with respect to the laser treatment temperatures were investigated using an optical microscope. Hardness distribution was measured using Vickers micro-hardness. Higher laser temperature resulted in higher fatigue strength, attributed to the phase transformation.
