Opis:
In the paper the basic notions of the ageing multistate systems reliability analysis are introduced. The multistate system reliability functions are defined and the mean values of the multistate system lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and in the particular reliability states are determined. The notion of the multistate system risk function and the moment of the system exceeding the critical reliability state are introduced. Further, in the developed reliability models, it is assumed that the system’s components have the multistate Weibull reliability functions with various parameters in their different reliability state subsets. Under this assumption, the proposed multistate system reliability models are applied in maritime transport to the reliability analysis of a bulk cargo transportation system and its reliability function, moreover other main characteristics are determined.

The paper is concerned with mathematical methods in asymptotic approach to systems reliability analysis. The complexity of the reliability investigation of large-scale systems is proposed to be approximately solved by assuming that the number of system components tends to infinity and finding the limit reliability function of the system. Some general results in the form of auxiliary theorems and examples of limit reliability functions of homogeneous and regular series-“m out of k” systems with exponential and Weibull reliability functions of system components are presented.

The combination of the results on the reliability of complex multi-state systems related to their operation processes and the results concerning the limit reliability functions of the multistate systems is proposed, to obtain the results on the asymptotic approach to the evaluation of the large complex multi-state systems reliability at the variable operation conditions. The asymptotic approach to the large complex system reliability evaluation and the large complex system limit reliability function are defined. Limit reliability functions of selected large complex systems composed of components having Weibull reliability functions are fixed. The way of using this results is illustrated by their application to the evaluation of reliability characteristics of the large complex port grain transportation subsystem composed of three large multistate non-homogeneous series systems and changing its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters at variable operation conditions.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to present a method of assessing the load-bearing capacity of prefabricated large-panel buildings built after the 1950s. Since the main problem in the existing large-panel system buildings is the actual condition of the joints between the panels, it was decided to investigate their impact on the behavior of the entire structure. Therefore, analyses were carried out in which the influence of the adopted connection models on the static and dynamic behavior of the building was examined. Several calculation models of the building were analyzed using three different types of connections between wall and ceiling panels: rigid, elastic and hinged, each representing a distinct state of the actual connection. The criterion used for the comparisons were the values of extreme internal forces and static displacements as well as the dynamic responses of the structure. The parameters that have the greatest influence on the static and dynamic analyses’ results are described and commented on in the conclusion. The analyses’ results are supported by data obtained from source materials: inspection reports, case studies and technical documents. The research helps to understand better the static and dynamic behavior of a building erected using a system of prefabricated large-size panels and to determine the main parameters of the structure influencing this behavior. However, as a result of the research, it was found that changes in the state of panel connection in large-panel system buildings do not have such a significant impact on the overall static and dynamic responses of the structure as initially expected.

As part of the solution of problem optimization of large-scale facilities carried out formalization of the system description of large-scale monitoring, defined the composition and the relationship subsets of elements, relationships, topologies and properties. Formulated the mathematical model and the task of reengineering topological structures of centralized three-tier system of largescale monitoring based on indices of cost and efficiency. The proposed mathematical model explicitly set relations between costs for the reengineering and time processing messages in the system from its structure and topology. The analysis of the objective function revealed that envelopes their local extrema are one-extreme (relative to the number of nodes in the system). Considering this, proposed a method of directed inspection of local extrema, which allow to find best solutions in terms of the minimum additional cost. Selection of the single solution from a set of effective proposed to carry out the method of hierarchy analysis or cardinalist approach aided by the additive function of general utility. The values of the weighting coefficients of the utility functions is carried out by an expert or based on comparator identification. Practical application these results allows reduce the time of obtaining solutions and more accurate solving of large dimension problem.

The paper focuses on active fault diagnosis (AFD) of large scale systems. The multiple model framework is considered and two architectures are treated: the decentralized and the distributed one. An essential part of the AFD algorithm is state estimation, which must be supplemented with a mechanism to achieve feasible implementation in the multiple model framework. In the paper, the generalized pseudo Bayes and interacting multiple model estimation algorithms are considered. They are reformulated for a given model of a large scale system. Performance of both AFD architectures is analyzed for different combinations of multiple model estimation algorithms using a numerical example.

Introspection is the prerequisite of autonomic behavior, the first step towards performance improvement and resource usage optimization for large-scale distributed systems. In grid environments, the task of observing the application behavior is assigned to monitoring systems. However, most of them are designed to provide general resource information and do not consider specific information for higher-level services. More precisely, in the context of data-intensive applications, a specific introspection layer is required to collect data about the usage of storage resources, data access patterns, etc. This paper discusses the requirements for an introspection layer in a data management system for large-scale distributed infrastructures. We focus on the case of BlobSeer, a large-scale distributed system for storing massive data. The paper explains why and how to enhance BlobSeer with introspective capabilities and proposes a three-layered architecture relying on the MonALISA monitoring framework. We illustrate the autonomic behavior of BlobSeer with a self-configuration component aiming to provide storage elasticity by dynamically scaling the number of data providers. Then we propose a preliminary approach for enabling self-protection for the BlobSeer system, through a malicious client detection component. The introspective architecture has been evaluated on the Grid'5000 testbed, with experiments that prove the feasibility of generating relevant information related to the state and behavior of the system.

The aim of this article is to present the problem of the revival of post-communist prefabricated blocks of flats in Poland. The process of thermal efficiency improvement entails a chance for the aesthetic renovation of these blocks, which is sometimes actually implemented but in many cases unfortunately abandoned. Successful projects of colour revival will be presented on selected examples. There will also be negative examples shown that give rise to a range of social initiatives promoting the aesthetic renovation of large-panel blocks.

Opis:
Przeprowadzono wiele prac badających przydatność wydajnych obliczeniowo metod, np., algorytmu dokładnego, algorytmu heurystycznego czy algorytmu meta-heurystycznego, itp., do optymalizacji alokacji niezawodności systemu złożonego.
Reliability has become a great concern in recent years, especially for large system consisting of a large number of subsystems, modules and components. To achieve the reliability goal in design stage, reliability allocation, a method to apportion the system target reliability amongst subsystems and components in a well-balanced way, has since received increasing attention. However, seeking the optimal reliability allocation scheme for a system with bunch of subsystems and components is not straightforward, and it is known as an NPhard problem. An abundance of work has been carried out to investigate the computational effi cient methods, e.g. exact algorithm, heuristic algorithm and meta-heuristic algorithm etc., to handle the optimization of reliability allocation for the complex system. Even though the proposed methods in past research work well for system consisting of a moderate set of components, they will still suffer "curse of dimensionality" and be impossible to converge if the system consisting of tens/hundreds of subsystems and components which maybe exist in industrial engineering. To mitigate the defi ciency, a decomposition strategy is proposed, in which the reliability allocation problem for the system with a large number of components is decomposed into a set of smaller, coordinated sub-problems which can be solved via traditional optimization algorithm in an computational effi cient manner. Target cascading method, as an effi cient hierarchical decomposition method, is employed in this paper to decompose the large system reliability allocation problem into a set of hierarchical optimization problems in according with the system confi guration. To illustrate the effi ciency and effectiveness of the proposed method, a numerical example is presented, as well as some comparative studies.

Opis:
This work presents the nonlinear analysis of forced harmonic oscillation system using differential transformation method-Padé approximant techniques. Without any series expansion of the included sine and cosine of the angular displacement in the nonlinear model of the system, an improved analytical solution of the dynamic model is presented. The high level of accuracy and validity of the analytical solutions obtained by the differential transformation method are shown through comparison of the results of the solution with the corresponding numerical solutions obtained by fourth-fifth-order Runge-Kutta method, homotopy perturbation method and energy balance methods. Also, with the aid of the analytical solutions, parametric studies are carried to study the impacts of the model parameters on the dynamic behavior of the large-amplitude nonlinear oscillation system. The method avoids any numerical complexity and it is very simple, suitable and useful as a mathematical tool for dealing the nonlinear problems.
