Opis:: The aim of the article is to present how the approach towards linguistic correctness of current users of the Polish language is reflected in Internet memes. The starting point is the assumption that language norms in online communication are treated in a different manner than usual. However, the high frequency of deviations from norms in online texts (especially in memes) does not mean a simple neglecting of the rules of linguistic correctness, as it includes both unintentional and accidental breaches of norms (coming from ignorance, lack of knowledge of rules or carelessness) and intentional actions of functional character, dictated mostly by treating the language in a ludic manner. In this article, the analysis of deviations from norms in memes is subordinated to presenting their purpose, which could be one of the following: linguistic fun, satire, anarchist defiance or provocation, attracting attention of recipients in order to distinguish the meme among massive amounts of information, and the diagnosis of linguistic correctness of specific people or representatives of various social groups (e.g. junior high school students, sports fans, blokers, sports commentators, teachers, elderly women). Moreover, creating negative protagonists of memes by attempting to imitate their language, which consists mostly of repeating their linguistic errors, allowed for the recreation of linguistic awareness of Internet users, e.g. for indicating the most ridiculed types of errors (spelling, phonetic and lexical). The key conclusion from the analysis is the indication of memes exemplifying the alignment with norms as a value, even if its appreciation is preceded by the (apparent) rejection of all rules.

Opis:: The article is an analysis of the language of legal norms in the context of its cognitive value, with an assumption that currently created norms are gradually deprived of their intelligibility towards the norm’s addressees, being in fact addressed directly to lawyers. Moreover, authors claim that there is a growing trend in the lawmaking process to create law which, in order to be applied, needs to be supplied with information from other genres of knowledge, external to law. In order to describe this phenomenon they introduce a new term, the “specialized norm”, and, through investigation of specific legal cases, they prove significance of the issue. By means of concepts deriving from philosophy of law and theory of language, the paper points out a strengthening tendency in legislative process, which forces one to ask themselves certain basic questions of nature and purpose of the law.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono próbę alternatywnego ujęcia modelu wykładni doktrynalnej w którym wypowiedzi w języku norm zastąpiono wypowiedziami w języku prawniczym. W proponowanym ujęciu rezultatem interpretacji tekstu prawnego jest zbiór zdań języka prawniczego stwierdzających, iż określona generalna norma prawna obowiązuje w momencie interpretacyjnym ze względu na ważność relewantnego fragmentu tekstu prawnego. Tworzący całość (kompletny) zbiór wypowiedzi w języku prawniczym stwierdzających obowiązywanie norm prawnych jest traktowany przez prawników jako opis systemu prawa. Stwierdzono, iż zarówno judykatura, jak i doktryna rozpatrując prawo jako system w praktyce nie odnosi się do języka norm, a odwołuje się do wyników wykładni opisanych w języku prawniczym. Natomiast paradygmat wykładni doktrynalnej z wykorzystaniem pojęcia języka norm ma swoje niewątpliwe walory teoretyczne i jest przydatny w celach dydaktycznych.
The article presents an attempt at an alternative approach to the scholarly interpretation model, in which statements expressed in the language of norms have been replaced by statements in the language of lawyers. In the proposed approach, the result of the interpretation of a legal text is a set of sentences of the lawyers’ language stating that a specific general legal norm applies at the moment of interpretation due to the validity of the relevant fragment of the legal text. The whole (complete) set of statements in the lawyers’ language whereby legal norms are held to be valid is treated by lawyers as a description of the legal system. It is stated that, considering the law as a system, neither case law nor scholarship in practice refers to the language of norms, but to the results of interpretations described in the lawyers’ language. However, the paradigm of scholarly interpretation using the concept of the language of norms has its undoubted cognitive value and is useful for didactic purposes.

Opis:: Aim. The aim of this article is to investigate the patterns in the translation of sex-related vocabulary from English to Polish in search for any changes regarding the markedness, poetics, and linguistic variety. Methods. The study is conducted on the pairs of English erotic novels and their Polish translations. It involves both quantitative (corpus-based methods) and qualitative (Descriptive ranslation Studies) methods. Results. The results indicate significant change in the area of marked vocabulary. In English-Polish translation, a vast majority of the marked vocabulary related to sex is replaced with unmarked vocabulary, paraphrased, or simply deleted. The qualitative analysis also suggests certain changes in the poetics of text, introduced by the means of addition. These changes mostly result in sexual encounters becoming more romanticised in translation. Conclusions. While the observed trends in translation are unmistakeable, it cannot be concluded with certainty what have led to the changes of the source text. Since the analysed texts were all published around the same time, by different publishing houses, and were translated by different translators, we are leaning towards the hypothesis of self-censorship in translation.

Opis:: The article discusses various concepts of the norm in speech-language therapy. The aim of the article is to present the complexity of the topic. The author considers various determinants of linguistic and communicative behaviour in the verbal form and the related methods of describing the norm. The essential requirement for correct diagnosis and therapy of persons with speech disorders of various aetiologies is knowledge and experience sufficient to determine the meaning of individual terms designating the disorders, taking into account interdisciplinary methods of defining the norm. This explains also the importance of ensuring proper standards of education allowing to perform independent, correct and reliable diagnosis and speech-language therapy.
Artykuł poświęcony jest różnym aspektom normy w logopedii. Celem założonym w artykule jest wskazanie złożoności poruszanej problematyki. Autorka rozważa uwarunkowania zachowań językowych i komunikacyjnych oraz związane z nimi sposoby opisu normy. Odnosi się do językowego, biologicznego i psychologicznego ujęcia normy. Wiedzę i doświadczenie pozwalające na uzgodnienie znaczeń dotyczących nazw zaburzeń, uwzględnienie interdyscyplinarnych sposobów definiowania normy traktuje jako niezbędny warunek poprawnej diagnozy i terapii osób z zaburzeniami mowy o różnej etiologii. Z tego wynika istotność zapewnienia odpowiednich standardów kształcenia, przygotowującego do samodzielnego, trafnego i rzetelnego diagnozowania i usprawniania logopedycznego.

Opis:: The article documents cases of grammatical, phonetic and lexical “irregularities” occurring in modern Russian. The conclusions are based on analysis of the National Corpus of the Russian Language and internet queries. The author pays special attention to phrases indicating time relations: “for some time” / “after what time”. It is noted that there is an “older” and “younger” standard for using collocations with the lexeme „time” and prepositions, and the change in the norm resulted from the transition from treating space-time as an abstract, uniform chronotope to the idea of time as a discrete quantity, i.e. certain fragmented, countable sections (century, year, month, day, hour, minute, second). Research has shown that discrete forms denoting time began to dominate from the mid-nineteenth century, which is related to the changes in the image of the world taking place at that time. The old ways of speaking about time, however, still appear in modern Russian. The article shows that other lexical and inflectional archaisms (e.g. short forms of adjectives) are also returning to modern speech. This can be considered a manifestation of social linguistic memory, which involves having the ability to recall and use old forms or meanings, according to norms that used to be applied in the past. The author proposes that this phenomenon be called “spontaneous recurrence of the norm”. It is claimed that such recurrence of the old norm may be caused either by speakers’ ignorance of the current norm or by their desire for a “retro” style that results from fashion or manners. It could also be a manifestation of “language refreshment” through the activation of speech memory, or retrieving former forms and old standards out of the “subconscious” of language users.
