Opis:
The article examines the emotive connotation of gustatory metaphor in Russian and Bulgarian media texts. Area source of gustatory metaphors is relatively constant in time, because the taste sensation is characterized by a certain stability and relative permanence. Emotive connotation as an emotional and the evaluated characteristics of the object, transmitted by metaphorical way, seems to be one of the most important ways of implicit or explicit impact on the intellect, the will and the emotional state of the recipient. The main task of the article is to outline the second frame of submetaphor ‘Evaluation of taste sensations’, which consists of two main slots: ‘positive / negative evaluation’ and ‘complementary evaluation’. The analyzed material shows the simulated emotive connotation of modern taste metaphors in inherent and adherent forms.
В статье рассматривается эмотивная коннотация вкусовой метафоры в русских и болгарских медиатекстах. Сфера источника вкусовой метафоры является относительно постоянной во времени, поскольку вкусовые ощущения характеризуется определенной стабильностью и относительным постоянством. Эмотивная коннотация как эмоциональная и оценочная характеристика объекта, транслируемая метафорическим образом, представляется одним из важнейших путей имплицитного или эксплицитного воздействия на интеллект, волю и эмоциональное состояние адресата. Основной задачей статьи является анализ второго фрейма метафорической модели «Оценка вкусовых ощущений», который состоит из двух основных слотов: «Позитивная / негативная оценка» и «Дополнительная оценка». Анализируемый материал медиадискурса демонстрирует моделируемую эмотивность современной вкусовой метафоры в ингерентной и адгерентной формах.

The article is devoted to the analyses of the conceptual metaphors “Time and Coor- dinate Space” in the literary Russian language history. The principles of forming the conceptual Time-models in the Old Russian language have been discovered. The two most  productive models have been stated. In the first model, time is active and moves on the horizontal datum linę; man is static but it is exactly he who takes the central position, which has been perceived as the Present. The second model is also connected with the idea of horizontal moving. But in this model, the man becomes active and moves on the Time coordinate. One can see the increasing productiveness of these conceptual meta- phors in diachronic approach. The number of members of this metaphorical field incre- ases significantly as well as the system of the relationship between them becomes morę ti- ghtly knit. There is the following tendency of the relationship between man and time in diachronic approach from the conceptual point of view. In the Old Russian language time was mostly regarded as something objective and existing independently from a man. But in the contemporary Russian literary language the active influence of a man on the time is becoming possible. This category combines both objective and subjective ąualities. Thus, anthropocentrism of the relationship “Man and Time” becomes stronger.

Статья посвящена проблеме семантики стиховедческого термина и стиховедческой метафоры в художественном и научном дискурсе поэта и стиховеда Георгия Шенгели. Рассматривается комплекс метафор, применяемых Шенгели в теоретических и лирических текстах для определения ритма, рифмы, строфы и других филологических категорий. Предложена тематическая классификация метафорических обозначений стиховой формы (милитаристская, архитектурная, органическая и др. метафоры стиха). На основе анализа пневматологической метафоры в стиховедческом и научном текстах Шенгели показано сходство и различие формирования переносного значения образа в научном и художественном контекстах.
The article deals with the semantics of metapoetic term and metapoetic metaphor in the artistic and academic discourse of Georgy Shengeli, poet and versification expert. The paper scrutinizes a complex of metaphors used by Shengeli in his theoretical and lyrical texts to define rhythm, rhyme, stanza, and other poetological categories. A thematic classification of such metaphoric labels is proposed (military, architectural, physiologic and other metaphors of a poetic text). An analysis of the metaphor of breath in Shengeli’s poems and research texts reveals similarities and differences in shaping figurative meanings in the artistic and the academic context.

The paper deals with the linguistic means that had helped us to adapt to virtual reality and that now seem to us to have existed always. The words and expressions didn’t appear out ofnowhere – they were imported from our everyday language where they had been used for naming objects and processes in the real world. Thus the new realm, such as the physical one, was marked by language signs that determine the nature and the structure of our conception of the Internet which is interpreted generally as a physical space (different types of the latter). These signs are described here in terms of conceptual metaphor theory. Recently we have been dealing with some new, “web-born” expressions. It is shown that such expressions are no more limited to the describing of the Internet and are extended to the real world; it can be said they provide us with new tools to interpret the “old” reality. Thereby we can see the very moment when the source and the target domains (that is real and virtual worlds) are switching their places.

The arlicle deals with the problem of determination of the associative and figurative structures of the poetic language with the extralingual factors. Based on the materiał of the functions of the names of kinship in the language of the Ukrainian poetry of the 20th century, the author analyzes two key models of the metaphorical use of these wordspoetisms with which the phenomena of ideologization of the poetic context are connected in generál and the new mythopoetics in particular. The use of the names of kinship in the structure of the poetisms-ideologemes is represented in eonnection with the processes of the development of the poetic and generál linguistic semantics of the names of kinship which render the meanings of “patriot”, “native”, “friendship”. The poetic functions of the genitive and comparative metaphors with the names of kinship háve been analyzed.

The article is about problem of expressing verbal expression in the texts essay of Yu Kobyletskyi. Kobyletskyi essay, reflecting individual artist's worldview, there are stylistic tropes and figures: metaphor, personification, simile, antithesis, adjectives, hyperbole, litotes, allusions, combining different styles vocabulary that help tie together and convey to the audience seemingly contradictory events and phenomena witnessed was an outstanding scholar and writer.

The article analyzes anthropocentric zoomorphic metaphors in the Belarusian and Polish languages. In two languages, animal names are used to characterize various qualities of a person: their appearance, character, behavior, place and role in society. Such metaphors not only denote a person, but also give them a positive or negative evaluation. And more often zoomorphic metaphors are used for negative characterization of a person. Based on the analysis of the dictionary entries of the explanatory dictionaries of the Belarusian and Polish languages, cases of complete and partial similarity of semantics of metaphors are considered. Metaphors are distinguished, the meanings of which do not coincide completely, and metaphors that exist only in one of the languages. The author believes that the discrepancy in the semantics of zoomorphic metaphors in the Belarusian and Polish languages is due to the ancient concepts of the Slavs about animals.

The present study has as its object three of the most frequent and representative metaphors of the first part (paragraphs from 1 to 133) of Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations. In particular, the analysis focuses on the following mappings: LINGUISTIC EXPRESSIONS ARE TOOLS, LANGUAGE IS A CITY and MEANING IS A PURE CRYSTAL. The methodological approach adopted in the study as well as the analytical proceedings are both borrowed from the theory of conceptual metaphor (see: Lakoff and Johnson 1980, Lakoff 1993 and Kövecses 2002, 2020). The three metaphors were identified through a careful manual search of the text. An automatic search for source domain vocabulary followed to identify any further instances of the metaphors. In a second step, the conceptual structure of the metaphors was outlined; the entailments of the mappings were listed and interpreted on the backdrop of the arguments developed in Wittgenstein’s work. Finally, a comparison of the structures of the three conceptual metaphors was made. The analysis revealed the existence of complex and coherent conceptual mappings motivating the use of the identified metaphorical expressions. The comparison among the three metaphors confirmed the hypothesis that the entailments of the first two mappings mentioned above are all consistent with each other, playing a fundamental role in the comprehension of Wittgenstein’s position on language and meaning. Conversely, the internal logic of the third metaphor reflects a conception of language rejected by the philosopher.

The aim of the article is to focus on the cognitive mechanisms that motivate the meanings of idioms as presented by Zoltán Kövesces. Contrary to traditional view, according to which an idiom is an expression whose overall meaning differs from the meanings of its constituents, cognitive linguistics claims that the meaning of a large number of idioms is not arbitrary but motivated. It rejects the “dead metaphor” perspective in favour of underlining relations between domains. The approach, which underlines the embodied aspects of language and cognition, appears tempting in particular in relation to body-related idioms. Metaphorical awareness can play a role of comprehensible input in learning idiomatic language.

The author attempts a polemic against the thesis on the anthropocentric nature of language, which has been established in linguistics. To this end, she proposes reading Olga Tokarczuk’s prose in the categories of post- and transhumanism to show that the writer’s works encompass the vision of the world which challenges the thesis on anthropocentrism of language adopted in linguistics. The object of the analysis is the linguistic phenomena (coming from various language layers: mainly lexical, syntactic, and orthographic ones) expressing the writer’s conviction of the unity of the human and non-human worlds and her clearly environmentally friendly attitude, which can be found in individual works by the Nobel Prize winner, and thus questioning the order of the reality based on human dominance and control over the nature.
