Opis:
In September 2015, the spatial planning legislation in Poland changed significantly as a result of the entry into force of the new law called „Landscape Act”. It is related especially to the need to prepare once every 20 years a landscape audit at regional level. Landscape audit will be a document influencing on the study of spatial planning conditions and directions, local spatial development plans and protection plans for different forms of nature protection. It is supposed to be a response to the progressive degradation of the Polish landscape, as well as the way of implementing the provisions of the European Landscape Convention into Polish law, almost 12 years after its ratification. One of the possible ways of implementing the provisions of this document, apart from the identification of landscape types, is also taking notes of their changes over time and analyzing the forces and pressures transforming them. This article evaluates the way of implementation of the European Landscape Convention in this field by analyzing the proposed content of the landscape audit. A method of assessing landscape change index has also been proposed as a way of recording the level of changes that have occurred in the landscape and identifying types of landscape transformations. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the possibility of using this methodology in landscape audit. The assessment was made on the example of Ślężański Landscape Park. The level of changes in the landscape was determined and the basic types and subtypes of these transformations were identified on the base of landscape structure maps prepared for the years 2004-2009-2014. This allowed to demonstrate that the methodology of assessing landscape change index could be also used to monitor the changes that have occurred in the landscape since the previous landscape audit.

The calamity windstorm in November 2004 caused dramatic changes of land cover in the Tatra Mountains. The bora have destroyed then more than 12,000 ha of forest and principally affected the habitat structure in the Tatra National Park. The aim of this contribution is to quantify changes in forest fragmentation in 2000 and 2006. We present forest fragmentation maps related to the years 2000 and 2006. The CORINE Land Cover data layers CLC 2000 and CLC 2006 converted to raster format were used as the input data in the process of forest fragmentation assessment. Forest pixels were classified according to fragmentation indices measured within the surrounding landscape as the forest core, forest patch, forest edge, and perforated forest. Decrease of the compact forest areas (forest core) by about 9% was recorded. On the other side, increased percentage of disrupted forest areas was observed. Decrease of the area of the CLC forest classes (classes 311, 312 and 313) on land cover maps from 2000 and 2006 was connected with an increased number of transitional woodland/shrubs polygons (CLC class 324). These results suggest a temporary fragmentation with possible forest regeneration. On the other hand, forest destruction in the National Park facilitated the development of travel and tourism (new hotels, ski parks, etc.). An increased number of construction sites (CLC class 133) indicate that an urban sprawl associated with a permanent forest fragmentation can be also expected in the future.

Tematem badań przedstawionych w artykule są zmiany ukształtowania terenu wywołane podziemną działalnością górniczą wydobywającą węgiel kamienny stanowiące przyczynę przekształceń krajobrazu rejonu Knurowa. Analizą objęto powstałe osiadania terenu w latach 2008-2017 oraz prognozowane do roku 2040. Otrzymane wyniki wykazały istotne przeobrażenia rzeźby terenu w latach 2008-2017 w postaci 22 niecek osiadań, dochodzących do 5 metrów. Dalsza projektowana eksploatacja złóż węgla kamiennego, co najmniej do roku 2040 przewiduje powstanie 21 obniżeń terenu sięgających 10 metrów.
The subject of the research presented in this paper is changes in land relief caused by underground coal mining activities, which are the cause of landscape transformation in the Knurów region. The analysis focused on land subsidence in the years 2008-2017 and predicted subsidence until 2040. The results showed significant changes in relief in the years 2008-2017 in the form of 22 subsidence troughs which were up to 5 metres deep. Further projected exploitation of hard coal deposits, at least until 2040, will probably result in 21 subsidence troughs which are up to 10 metres deep.

Landscape Changes
Opis:
Landscape and human are the constituents of the natural surroundings in which changing occurred temporally and spatially. The relationship between landscape and environment is not seen by a singular framework or a bare structure. A landscape has different functions and characteristics, when meet specific requirements, then set an ecology in giving context. Every landscape has its own scenario based upon the dimension of human and its kinship with them. Man are the ecosystem managers, the landscape features provide a road map and built human ecology. Development is occurring by landscape change, change of environment and the kinship between human and landscape, study of these phenomena provide us a theoretical framework to assess the man land relationship as is done in this case study. This paper aims to describe how, each individual in a particular environment is participating in change of the landscape. The influence of human is a magnitude of actions upon the landscape and this magnitude shape the local landscape. The paper discussed through a brightness on the dynamics of landscape change in the 21st century due to globalization and modern dimensions and presents us a complex web of human with non-human relationship of ecology, economy and history, which alter the landscape. This paper concluded a reflection of cultural values on physical environment and landscape change to build environment and human ecology.

Urbanization directly affects the existing infrastructure, landscape modification, environmental contamination and traffic pollution especially if there is lack of urban planning. Recently, the rapid urban sprawl has resulted in less developed green areas and has devastating environmental consequences. This study was aimed to study the past urban expansion rates and Measure LST from satellite data. The Land use land cover (LULC) maps of years 1996, 2010, 2013, and 2017 were generated using Landsat satellite images. Four main classes i.e. water, urban, bare land and vegetation were identified using unsupervised classification with iterative self-organizing data analysis (isodata) technique. The LST from satellite thermal data can be derived from different procedures:atmospheric, radiometric calibrations and surface emissivity corrections, classification of spatial changeability in land-cover. Different methods and formulas were used in the algorithm that successfully retrieves the land surface temperature to help us study the thermal environment of the ground surface. To verify the algorithm, the land surface temperature and the near-air temperature were compared. The results showed that, From 1996-2017 urban areas increased to about considerable increase of about 48%.few areas of city also shown in reduction in LST from year 1996-2017that actually began their transitional phase from rural to urban LULC.Mean temperature of city increased averagely about 1ºC each year in the month of October. The green and vegetative areas witnessed a decrease in area while higher number of pixels increased in urban class.

The trees of parks and gardens support many species, the survival of urban-dwelling species mainly bird species. Birds amongst other species provide a wide range of environmental and social functions to cities and urban dwellers. The present study aims to know bird diversity in two parks as bioindicator of automobile air pollution exposure, landscape changes and/or human interactions. The study areas were selected as per heavily-populated neighborhoods, nearby office buildings, nearby roads and continuous vehicular movements, human interactions as visitors, where high levels of human disturbance are common. The study was carried out at 2 sampling stations viz (i) Elliot park and (ii) Agri-horticulture Society. The bird species diversity was studied by qualitative and quantitative assessment. Indices were Species richness, Index of Dominance, Relative abundance, Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index and Evenness Index for birds for all selected sites were calculated using the statistical formulae. The present results as bioindicators bird species clearly indicate that the bird species are very few in numbers in both the parks. When comparison made between both the parks, it was observed less number of bird varieties (16 types) in Elliot park than varieties (9 types) more less in number in Agri-horticulture society. This study is a preliminary assessment of bird diversity but further researches are needed in relation to biochemical and genetic damage study as well as air pollution load by using instruments. In the present study it was concluded that the less numbers of birds and their different diversity indices were found a decreasing trends, though there no attempt has been made on physico-chemical properties of present air pollutants. The less number of varieties of bird species are as tolerant bioindicators, which may be due to the vehicular pollution and/or human interference and/or landscape changes due to nearby neighborhood blocks, office and residential buildings, continuous movement of vehicles etc.

Opis:
The article aims to identify areas of historical, cultural, and landscape values that are located in the suburban area of Warsaw and which may play an essential role in stabilizing the urban ecosystem of Warsaw in the future. Since it turns out that the most effective form of preserving these values is to take them under legal protection, the article shows good and bad practices in this area, identifying the most significant threats and indicating opportunities and scenarios worth considering for the future. Finally, the purpose of the article is to draw attention to the importance of spatial and scenic connections, emphasizing the importance of the surrounding landscape, which was once an immanent feature of, e.g. suburban estates. The hypothesis is that in the face of progressing climate change and melting natural resources, it is worth paying attention to the importance of all urban ecosystem elements, even smaller ones, because they are a component of a larger whole and are required for ecological balance. Existing resources should be strengthened and protected, and new places for protection should be sought. Such sites may be the former foregrounds, the immediate surroundings of monuments, which in the past functioned as larger compositions and should be protected as such.

For the good established landscape planning landscape protection and landscape management actions have to take into consideration the actual conditions of the landscape elements. Earlier we dealt with the stability of the landscapes (Kerényi, Csorba, 1996), recently started to investigate the most important factors, which are endangers the proper functioning of the landscapes. Results are calculated for 229 microregions of the country, which are elements of the official landscape hierarchy of Hungary described in the Cadastral of Microregions of Hungary. The average size of the microregions are 100-500 km2. There are certain factors among which some have already elaborated, and others are being worked on yet. Degree of ecological fragmentation of the microregions by roads, railway lines and settlements was determined during the last year. In the case of large settlements the extent of inner parts, traffic intensities of the roads was taken into account, while in the case of railroads it was taken into consideration whether railway lines are single or double tracked. Results were purified using a weighting, where the location of the protected natural areas compared to the situation of the given settlement, roads or railroads was taken into consideration. In the calculations it was taken into account as well that the agglomeration processes of the large settlements may restrict the ecological gates and corridors of the migration of plant and animal species. From the series of maps on natural threats on microregional level, the map of the hazards of drought is presented first. The map gives a definite answer to the question, in which microregions is profitable to establish irrigation systems; and how high is the uncertainty of the rate of their utilization. Global warming, however, may modulate the map resented here remarkably in the next decades. Microregions that have been classified into transition categories with moderate or medium level of drought hazard may fall into categories of serious hazard of drought in the future. A synthesizing map has been completed by summing the seven datasets of the indicator group of natural hazards and the weighting of the subsets. Landscape planning is strongly affected by tendencies of macro economy on the present land use structure. EU agricultural policies have just started to affect strongly on Hungarian land use structure, therefore attempts have been made in order to forecast their impacts. Present Hungarian land use structure has been compared to priorities of the EU. Prospective shifts in land use structure have been determined for the 35 regions of Hungary. According to the 8-10 factors mentioned above, we shall have a detailed database to evaluate the microregions of Hungary in order to characterize the most threatened landscapes, and the most dangerous impacts on the landscape functioning.

Badania prowadzono przez dwa sezony 1996 i 1998 roku. Mszyce odławiano metodą pułapek chwytnych Moerickego w czterech typach środowisk nieużytkowanych rolniczo, sąsiadujących z polami uprawnymi: miedzy, przydrożu, zakrzewieniach śródpolnych i skraju lasu, w trzech miejscowościach.

large cities such as Warsaw. The functional and spatial changes in the neighbouring areas of the Polish capital perfectly illustrate what is also happening in other metropolises. Unfortunately, not only the main city itself but also the neighbouring municipalities experience investment pressure. This process consumes more and more areas and favours their irrational spatial and functional development, which has its negative environmental effects. In the face of threats that result from climate change, instead of looking for solutions that are logistically and technologically complicated, resources that are still available around large cities can be used. Undoubtedly, in addition to natural landscape areas, such areas may be agricultural areas. Instead of re-qualifying them, their potential can be used in creating an eco-resilient suburbs system, which is also the ecological base of the main city. The aim of the article is to draw attention to the condition, resources and adaptation possibilities of rural areas in the suburbs of Warsaw, which, like other large Polish cities, needs new ecological solutions. The study used the Statistics Poland (Główny Urząd Statystyczny) data and conclusions resulting from the literature review on the studied issue, as well as analysis of planning documents.

The article presents changes in the landscape which occurred in the structure of utilization of the grounds in the years 1953 - 2003, concerning a segment of the Vistula river in the proximity of Kazimierz Dolny. The river is distinguished by its outstanding natural and landscape values. Its present values of biodiversity are high in comparison with other rivers in western Europe. The changes in the landscape were investigated on the basis of an analysis of the ecotopes from two time intervals (1953, 2003) which were performed with the use of photointerpretational techniques and GIS software. The created maps mainly presented the differences in the course of the riverbed, but also showed the changes in the units connected with natural plant succession, which could have resulted from the growing intensity of crop cultivation and the influence of regulatory works in the Vistula valley.
