    This paper illustrates that basic global economic concepts can be directly related to the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics. We believe that all economic returns are from nothing except from current and past human expenditure of human energy; this is the result of the First Law of Thermodynamics. It is shown that everything is a product of energy in the form of labor and that the basic principle of Labor Theory of Value is still valid and this principle is validated not relying on economics and fi nance models, rather on thermodynamic principles. This is illustrated by the development of the Labor Value Equation based on the application of the First and Second Law of Thermodynamics and how it can impact employment, asset valuation, supply/demand, productivity, global confl ict, global reserve currency and global stability

    Moim celem jest omówienie i ocena pracy Freda Moseleya Money and Totality, która mierzy się z nękającym od ponad stu lat Marksowską teorię problemem przekształcenia wartości w ceny produkcji. Moseley nie tylko stara się zrehabilitować ilościowy aspekt teorii autora Kapitału, pokazując, że problemu transformacji nie ma, ale także usytuować go w szerszym (makromonetarnym) kontekście projektu Marksa.
    In this text I analyze Fred Moseley’s newest book Money and Totality, which tackles the infamous transformation problem. Moseley not only tries to show that Marx’s theory is quantitatively valid and that the transformation problem is in fact a pseudo-problem, but also situates it in a broader (macro-monetary) context of Marx’s whole theoretical endeavor.

    150th anniversary of Marx’s Das Kapital calls for yet another contemporary evaluation of Karl Marx’s legacy. The article argues that Marx’s most important and the longest standing contribution into social science is not „historical materialism” nor any particular form of “critical theory” – it is the concept of capital as a specific mode of creating value. The article seeks to extract the six major features of capital as described by Marx and demonstrate their conceptual originality and novelty. It also shows how numerous contemporary social scientist borrow and apply this category to the fields quite remote from Marx’s own research terrain. But the fact of multiplicity of capitals and quite remarkable homologies between them should not lead us to premature conclusion namely that the social world can be adequately represented as a system or hierarchy of capitals.
