    Opis:
    Multimodal transport implementation allows connecting the point of origin and the point of destination in an optimal way. The goal of multimodal transport is to maximize the efficiency in connecting the economic elements of various traffic branches, i.e. their operations related to transport and communications, thus positively reducing the inventories of raw materials, semi-products and end products with the aim of increasing the balance in the overall economic system of a country. The development of multimodal transport and good organization of the traffic system make it possible to increase the existing and to generate new freight flows that would result in positive effects on the import-export balance.

    Opis:
    The article is an attempt to present some aspects of the history of economic thought from the ancient time to the present days. The development of the economic thought was shaped by the evolution of various visions, trends and views of contemporary thinkers, observers of social life, researches of the cause and effects of the economic activity. The author of the article seeks to show the disputes and controversies over the ideas, the approaches and the theories that had influence on the transformation of the economy in all periods of history. The main aim of the article is to bring the achievement of outstanding scholars together, including Polish scientists who worked with this field of study. In addition, there are shown close links between the development of economic thought and the changes of economy. The summary points out how important our history of economic thought is. The historical condition of the modern concepts and economic ideas was recalled. This article encourages to study the economic thought and treat these studies as a research workshop that helps to better understand the modern economy
    Artykuł jest próbą przedstawienia wybranych aspektów historii myśli ekonomicznej kształtującej się od czasów starożytnych do współczesności. Rozwój myśli ekonomicznej formował się poprzez ewoluowanie różnych wizji, nurtów i poglądów ówczesnych myślicieli, obserwatorów życia oraz badaczy przyczyn i skutków działań gospodarczych. Autor artykułu stara się pokazać, jak spory i kontrowersje wobec idei, podejść i teorii wpływały na przeobrażanie się ekonomii w poszczególnych okresach dziejowych. Zasadniczym celem pracy jest przybliżenie dokonań wybitnych uczonych, zajmujących się tą dziedziną wiedzy z uwzględnieniem także polskich ekonomistów. Ponadto ukazane zostały ścisłe powiązania między rozwojem myśli ekonomicznej i zmianami w ekonomii. W podsumowaniu wskazano, jak ważną częścią naszej edukacji jest historia myśli ekonomicznej. Przypomniano o historycznych uwarunkowaniach współczesnych pojęć i idei ekonomicznych. Artykuł jest zachętą do studiowania historii myśli ekonomicznej i traktowania tych studiów jako warsztatu badawczego, który pomoże lepiej zrozumieć współczesną ekonomię i gospodarkę.

    Real-time transit management systems that can inform the public about transportation options and availability are gradually being deployed in many parts of the world. While many larger cities have been able to provide this information on web sites or through automated telephone systems for several years, smaller municipalities often lack the resources to develop their own transit management systems. Addressing this issue as a joint effort, transportation agencies in the multi-state North American CARS Program have cooperatively developed a real-time, multi-modal transit tracking and incident reporting system called Modes. Modes builds on the CARS road condition reporting system developed by 17 transportation agencies in North America. Modes extends the CARS software to include ferry, bus, and passenger rail services to the basic highway network information it manages. Modes was initially created to track the Alaska Marine Highway System's extensive ferry system and has been successfully applied to New England's popular Acadia National Park bus tracking system, three bus systems in Maine, 13 bus systems in Idaho (in progress), three bus systems and a light rail line in the Sacramento, California area (in progress), as well as the Amtrak Downeaster and Capitol Corridor rail lines.

    W Polsce na przestrzeni lat procesy wzrostu i rozwoju kształtowane były w oparciu o koncepcję (model) polaryzacyjno-dyfuzyjny. W efekcie środki, a także rozwiązania prawne lokowano w tak zwanych biegunach wzrostu (zawężanych do wiodących miast). Również rozwiązania prawne dotyczące funkcjonowania specjalnych stref ekonomicznych podporządkowane były koncepcyjnie modelowi polaryzacyjno-dyfuzyjnemu. Skutkowało to intensyfikacją lokowania inwestycji w ośrodkach rozwiniętych. W obliczu takich uwarunkowań koncepcje oparte na procesach zrównoważenia stały się wyzwaniem i szansą na zminimalizowanie negatywnych skutków nierówności urzeczywistnianych w sferze realnej. Kluczowym celem niniejszego artykułu jest wskazanie na potencjał specjalnych stref ekonomicznych i ich znaczenie w urzeczywistnianiu procesów zrównoważenia w sferze realnej. W niniejszym artykule przyjęto, że możliwości wykorzystania specjalnych stref ekonomicznych dla urzeczywistniania procesów zrównoważenia są uwarunkowane kryterialnie. Obecny system wsparcia nowych inwestycji jest szansą dla urzeczywistniania procesów zrównoważenia w sferze realnej w ujęciu terytorialnym. Sformułowanemu celowi i hipotezie podporządkowane zostały rozważania, a mianowicie w poszczególnych punktach artykułu omówiono: podstawowe kategorie związane z tematem artykułu; specjalne strefy ekonomiczne i wysokość pomocy publicznej w okresie od 1995 r. do 2017 r.; oceniono rozwiązania implementowane w ramach koncepcji Polska Strefa Inwestycji z punktu widzenia zapewnienia ładu i procesów zrównoważenia. Przeprowadzona w artykule analiza pozwala stwierdzić, że obecne rozwiązania prawne, a wraz z nim obowiązujące wymagania jakościowe zwiększają znaczenie specjalnych stref ekonomicznych w kształtowaniu procesów wzrostu i rozwoju w oparciu o zbiór kryteriów opartych na atrybutach zrównoważenia. Zarówno instrument, jakim są specjalne strefy ekonomiczne i koncepcja ich funkcjonowania przyczynia się do kształtowania procesów zrównoważenia w sferze realnej.
    In Poland, over the years, growth and development processes were shaped based on the polarization- diffusion concept (model). This was achieved by investing funds and legal solutions in the so-called growth poles (narrowed to leading cities). In the face of such conditions, concepts based on sustainability processes have become a challenge and an opportunity to minimize the negative effects of inequalities realized in the real sphere. The key objective of this article is to indicate the potential of special economic zones and their importance in implementing sustainable processes in the real sphere. This article assumes that the possibilities of using special economic zones to implement sustainability processes are conditioned by criteria. The current system of supporting new investments is an opportunity to implement sustainable processes in the real sphere in territorial terms. The formulated purpose and hypothesis were subordinated to considerations, namely in the individual points of the article the following were discussed: basic categories related to the subject of the article; special economic zones and the amount of public aid in the period from 1995 to 2017; the Polish Investment Zone was assessed as a solution from the point of view of ensuring governance and sustainable processes. The analysis carried out in the article allows one to state that the current legal solutions, together with the binding quality requirements, increase the importance of special economic zones in shaping the growth and development processes from a set of criteria based on sustainability attributes. Both the instrument, meaning the special economic zones, and the concept of their functioning contribute to shaping sustainable processes in the real sphere.
