    The analysis of the mystery of life can be helpful to overcome the current crisis of woman’s and a man’s sexual/gender identity caused by radical theses of the gender ideology. In the light of biblical anthropology we can know better the multidimensional nature of human life. The life-cycle mystery is closely linked with the process of life transmitting. The woman and man have received from God the capability and mission to transmit life. This ability inscribed in the nature of the person expresses the essential feature of their vocation as beings created in the image of God. Woman and man should to be life-giving, as God is the life-giving Creator. The negation of this life-giving aspect of human nature present in the radical theses of gender ideology places this theory in obvious contradiction to the Gospel of life. For this reason the gender ideology can be considered as a serious threat not only to individual man but to all human family.

    W artykule omówione zostały dwa opisy stworzenia człowieka (Rdz 1; 2–3). Akcent w analizie tych wypowiedzi położony jest na fakt, że w obu opisach podkreśla się, iż człowiek został stworzony jako mężczyzna i kobieta. Dwupłciowa natura człowieka akcentowana jest w nich zarówno w wymiarze biologicznym i religijnym (tak Rdz 1,26-28), jak i społecznym (tak Rdz 2,18-25). Obie płcie są sobie równe w każdym z tych aspektów. Człowiek w całej pełni realizuje swoje powołanie do życia i współpracy z Bogiem dopiero jako mężczyzna i kobieta. Jego zdolność do nawiązywania relacji wyraża się najpełniej w obrębie płciowego zróżnicowania własnego gatunku. Zachodzi to w wymiarze biologicznym (płodność umożliwiająca poddanie sobie ziemi) oraz intelektualnym i duchowym (kobieta jako „odpowiednia pomoc”).  
    The article discusses the two descriptions of the creation of man (Gen 1:2-3). In analyzing these verses, emphasis is placed on the fact that both descriptions stress that man was created as a man and a woman. The dual-gender nature of mankind is accented in both passages in the biological, religious (Gen 1: 26-28) and social (Gen 2:18-25) dimensions. Both sexes are equal to each other in each of these aspects. People fully achieves their calling to live and cooperate with God only as a man and a woman. One’s ability to establish relationships is most fully expressed within the sexual diversity of our species. This occurs in the biological (fertility enabling us to submit the earth) as well as the intellectual and spiritual dimensions (woman as the “suitable helper”).

    Artykuł zawiera analizę szczegółowych, semantycznych i kompozycyjnych cech miniaturowych angielskich portretów tworzonych w XVI w. Większość z tych dzieł wykazuje się stylistyczną jednolitością, ścisłym przestrzeganiem przez autorów formalnych zasad artystycznych. Porównanie wykazało jednak, iż pomimo ogólnego podobieństwa, wynikającego z ustalonej tradycji i praktyki, wyraźnie są widoczne też różnice w stylistycznym i kompozycyjnym podejściu do portretu. Opierając się na opisie wyjątkowego procesu tworzenia miniatury pozostawionym przez elżbietańskiego artystę N. Hilliarda, można zauważyć techniczne różnice w tworzeniu męskich i kobiecych obrazów. Przytoczone w artykule przykłady wskazują na możliwość zbadania angielskiej miniatury portretowej i jej typologii z pozycji „męskie – kobiece”. Charakterystyczne wyróżniające cechy przejawiają się nie tylko w rysunku i kolorystyce, ale także w stopniu indywidualizacji obrazu portretowego. Program portretu męskiego jest bardziej zróżnicowany semantycznie i świadczy o rosnącym zainteresowaniu indywidualnością u zarania nowożytności.
    The article provides the analysis of semantic and compositional features of the XVI century English miniature portraits. Most of these works are characterized by stylistic uniformity, the exact abidance of formal artistic principles by the master. However, some differences in the stylistic and compositional approach to the portrait are clearly visible in addition to the general similarity due to the established tradition and practice. It is possible to note technological differences in the creation of male and female images, based on the unique process of creating miniatures described by the Elizabethan artist N. Hilliard. The article presents examples that show the possibility of studying the English portrait miniature and its typology in terms of “male” and “female.” Characteristic differences are manifested not only in the drawing and color, but also in the degree of individualization of the portrait image. The program of the male portrait is semantically more diverse and indicates a growing interest in individuality at the Early Modern time.

    Dzięki różnicy płci człowiek, mężczyzna i kobieta, ma możliwość realizowania obrazu Boga, który jest Trójjedyny. Nawet czysto intelektualne neutralizowanie różnicy między płciami jest niepotrzebne, bo nie przyczynia się ani do zachowania równouprawnienia kobiet, ani tym bardziej do tłumaczenia stosunku między naturą człowieka a faktem Bożego obrazu w człowieku. Podkreślanie jedności w różnorodności, charakteryzującej człowieka jako mężczyznę i kobietę, ma walor pedagogiczny i służy przyswojeniu klucza interpretacyjnego całego stworzonego przez Trójjedynego Boga świata. Właściwą przestrzenią realizowania się rzeczywistości Bożego obrazu jest wzajemne oddziaływanie na siebie mężczyzny i kobiety. Każdy człowiek jest także obrazem Boga dla drugiego (por. Mt 25,40), mężczyzna dla kobiety i kobieta dla mężczyzny.
    The article considers the subject of the relationship between sex and creation of man in God’s image. First it discusses the unity of man and woman of being the image of God. Every human person is directly the image of personal God. The proper space for fulfilling God’s image is a mutual self-giving as man and woman. Then, the article makes analysis on the role of the ”spousal” meaning of the human body in fulfillment of God’s likeness. The human being, as man and woman, remains a unity in diversity. Their unity is made possible by the ”spousal” meaning of the human body. The truth of their bodies and of sexes, is also the truth of communion of persons. Another issue is sex in a context of the Trinitarian understanding of the ”image of God”. The ”spousal” meaning of the human body can be revealed purely in relation to someone else, to the other person. The Trinitarian understanding of the image of God lets capture the truth that the human being, a man and a woman, it is the image and likeness of one God in the Trinity of Persons. At the closing the cited article considers the case of fecundity, referred to sexuality, and its participation in the implementation of God’s image and His likeness. Everyone of us proceeds from someone else, and the Father of all is God (Ephesians 3: 14-15). The fertile unity of husband and wife is a form of imitation by their bodies of the generosity and fecundity of God. The fecundity entails the reality of the parenthood. A very important dimension of human fecundity is the ”fecundity from the Spirit”, which means both, the spiritual fatherhood and motherhood.

    The author analyzes different kinds of love: love of oneself, love between man and woman, maternal and paternal love, children's love as well as brotherly love. The essence of love is to enlighten the intellect. Love is free, love evokes love, it unites, overcomes itself (forgets about „I”, leaves the „I”). Natural love ought to be transformed into personal love. It is not an easy and gentle process because of the forces which act against love in the world and in a man himself. It reveals the conflict between nature and the person. The Christian tradition shows three ways of reaching perfection: the way of purification, enlightening, and union. The way of purification requires negative pedagogy (that is first of all struggling with evil inside a man), and the way of enlightening – positive pedagogy (realization of good). The postulate of educational optimism is also important.

    Religious and theological question about the man may come from Divine Revelation. It is impossible to truly answer the question without reff ering to the Creator since He is „creavit Deus” the truth of revelation through the faith of the wise man to the fullness of life. God, who is love and life, created man in His own image and likeness, created man and woman. In the humanity of man and woman God inscribed a particular calling to participate in the mystery of communio of God and entrusted the task of dominion over the earth, over creation. God gives grace to his goodness on the way of salvation. He is the Creator and Savior.

    The article seeks to present a general overview of the document What is Man? (Ps 8:5). An Itinerary of Biblical Anthropology, published by the Pontifical Biblical Commission in 2019. The author endeavours to identify any reactions from other Churches and Christian Traditions to the document. What kind of reception, if any, has there been from the Orthodox Church and from the Protestants? What can we conclude from a selection of known positions, prior to the 2019 document? The paper will focus on only one particular issue — homosexuality and same-sex unions — and present a comparative analysis with the aim of identifying areas of convergence, as well as areas of divergence, between different Churches on the theme.
    Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie ogólnego spojrzenia dokumentu Czym jest człowiek. Zarys antropologii biblijnej, opublikowanego przez Papieską Komisję Biblijną w 2019 r. Zamierzeniem autora jest zaprezentowanie reakcji na ten dokument innych Kościołów i tradycji chrześcijańskich. Jaka była, jeżeli w ogóle, recepcja Kościoła prawosławnego i protestantów? Jakie wnioski możemy wyciągnąć z lektury wybranych pozycji, opublikowanych jeszcze przed omawianym dokumentem? Artykuł będzie koncentrował się na jednym specyficznym zagadnieniu – homoseksualizmu i związków osób tej samej płci – i przedstawi analizę porównawczą, która będzie zmierzać do wydobycia zbieżności, jak i rozbieżności istniejących między Kościołami w odniesieniu do tego zagadnienia.
