Opis:
In accordance with the watchword of the Year of Priesthood, announced by pope Benedict XVI: “The faithfulness of Christ – the faithfulness of a priest”, the article presents the actualization of the faithfulness of Christ in the Pallottine priestly ministry. The content of the article draws attention to Christ whose faithfulness we are trying to follow up to standards of the faithfulness of St. Vincent Pallotti, who – as the father of the Pallottine Family and founder of the Union of Catholic Apostolate that incorporates all the Church’s states into apostolate – is rightly called the great apostle of Rome. Considering the universalism of Pallotti’s idea of apostolate, both in the objective and subjective dimension, we restrict ourselves to presenting only chosen aspects of the thoroughly substantiated issue. We are doing it by firstly showing St. Vincent’s admiration for Christ’s ideal of priestly faithfulness, and then the ideal of fulfillment of Christ’s faithfulness in the Jerusalem upper room community. The culmination of the disquisition is the reflection on the mentioned above watchword of the Priesthood Year from the point of view of deepening of each priest’s identity, and particularly a Pallottine of the 21st century. It is strongly underlined that both the patron of the Priesthood Year, St. Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney – the parish priest of Ars, and St. Vincent Pallotti – the apostle of Rome, who lived at more or less the same time, can show to the priests of the 21st century how to cope with temptations threatening their saving mission in the community of God’s people, and also all over the world, which is still hostile, to a large extent, to the contents of God’s revelation, accomplished fully in the words and acts of Jesus, as the only begotten Son and the primal Apostle of the Preeternal Father. The point of the article states one sure thing: the most efficient means of a fight for man, for his great dignity of God’s child is nowadays – ultimately – authentic faithfulness to Christ, the only priest of the New and everlasting Covenant and to his Gospel preached for centuries in the Church and by the Church.

Opis:
In the First Letter of St. Paul as in John's Apocalypse, there exists a very elear tendency to link the universal priesthood of Christians with the concept of dignity of the Kingdom. This joining points out that even the universal priesthood ought to be understood prlmarily as the highest honor and distinction for Christians. This results from the direct closeness of God, similar to that which in the cult of the Old Covenant was reserved only for priests. As a result of Redemption, it became on the other band a participation of all baptized without exception. This closeness is for man the privilege comparable with royal dignity, and so the highest that man can reach. It is also an expression of the great love of God to man and that is why it comprises the challenge to the highest perfection and sanctity of life. The universal priesthood, which is a privilege of all the baptized, certainly must not be mistaken with the sacramental priesthood, set for the special service among the people of God. The above analyzed texts from the First Letter of St. Peter and John's Apocalypse do not contain teachings on this topic.

Christ expressed Himself essentially in His priesthood through which He had redeemed mankind and become the principle of the economy of salvation. This priesthood realised the primitive paradigm of religion that consists in the relationship: God-man and man-God. Christ established the most ultimate and the most perfect bond between God and man, and between man and God: God-man in one person. It is in Christ’s priesthood that priests (bishops and presbyters) participate in a sacramental manner; the faithful participate in it in a broad sense. The two kinds of priesthood stem from one and the same source, from the priesthood of Jesus Christ, and they should coexist, but the hierarchic priesthood is superior and normative. It is in the priesthood that the whole man is expressed and fulfilled on the model of Jesus Christ.

In analyzing the writings of Clement of Alexandria, the author of the article states that the priestly ideal is in them in essence close to the ideal of holiness and perfection, typical of Christians called Gnostics. That is why in the formation and priestly work, Cłement treats with priority the perfect knowledge of Sacred Scripture and Apostolic and Church Tradition, life in accord with the Gospel and the teaching ministry in the Church of Christ - typical traits for the Christian-Gnostic. Taking into consideration the w hole ecclesiology of the Alexandrian, one can say that he distinguished two parallel hierarchies in the Church: the hierarchy of perfection and the hierarchy of office. The scope of both these hierarchies could, but did not have to link together. In the Church, Clement gave a greater place to the hierarchy of perfection (related with Gnosticism) because its scope was much broader thail the other. From the group of Gnostics, only some received offices for service in the Church.

Opis:
Because of the strict connection between the Lutheran Church and the State in Sweden, the introduction of the ordination of women in the Church has a very specific political and social context. Since the clergy of the Church were appointed and partly paid by the state which served as a manager of church funds, actually the discussion about the possibility was started outside of the Church and concerned firstly the State legislation. In 1919 the Minister of Justice appointed a committee to enquire into the competence of women for government appointments and recommended a legal change. When in 1925 legislation allowed women to hold state offices, an exception was made concerning the office in church. After many discussions, in 1958 the legal barriers were removed, but still ordination, which is the privilege of the Bishop was a condition for holding the office in the church. Although the formal discussion was about the question of state office, nevertheless the actual debate was on whether or not to admit women to the priesthood. The specific legal context caused that the theological argumentation was not actually taken into consideration. After the legal change the decision whether the women will be ordained to the ministry in the Church depended on the particular bishop and not all of them decided to introduce the new practice. The first ordinations of women took place in 1960, however, by 1970 not one women had been ordained in 5 out of the 13 dioceses.

Opis:
The Year for Priests concluded on 11 June 2010 was a special opportunity for the Church to reflect on priesthood in the changing situation. Contemporary attempts made by priests to give priority to ago over esse (acting over being) urgently require thinking over the essence of priesthood again with respect to that esse; and in this task defining it as a gift and mystery may be helpful. Such a definition of priesthood is not a new thing, but also today it may be considered a topical key for understanding its essence. The Holy Scriptures and the Tradition of the Church emphasize that the gift of God is the source of priesthood and its nature. The gift is presented to the very person who is ordained, but also to the Church, or even to the whole mankind. The statement saying that priesthood is a gift also leads to recognizing a mystery in it. It is the mystery of God's love why He summons only some people, and not others; why He grants his grace only to some people. The gift of priesthood is a mystery also in the sense that it makes one able to celebrate God's mysteries. The particular connection between the ordained person and Christ is a mystery, which is expressed in the statement that a priest acts in persona Christi. If priesthood is God's gift and at the same time a mystery of God's choice, one may not demand it as if it were his due right. Nobody possesses the right to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders. It is God's gift that is the foundation of priest's service and of this exceptional dignity of the one who accepts the gift. At the same time the gift gives rise to obligations on the part of the one who is presented with this dignity, but also on the part of all those to whom the service is directed. It requires agreement and cooperation from the one who receives the gift. The duties of the community are reduced to accepting the gift with gratitude. Talking about priesthood as of a gift and a mystery is ultimately a defense of the primacy of grace in the priestly vocation. It also agrees with the whole vision of moral life based on a gift and demanding a free answer from a man.

Opis:
W artykule zostały poddane analizie następujące fragmenty: Kpł 8-9 przedstawia opis początków kapłaństwa i kultu w Izraelu; Kpł 6,1-7,2; 10,8-15; 16 przynoszą szczegółowe rozporządzenia dotyczące kapłanów; Kpł 21-22 stanowi tę część Kodeksu Świętości, który omawia miejsce i rolę kapłanów we wspólnocie Narodu Wybranego.
The priests were one o f the basie institutions o f the social and religious life in ancient Israel. Although they were playing erociał role in cult and society, biblical nformation conceming priesthood is quite comp lex. The Book o f Leviticus is one o f the most important sources of knowledge about the cult and 'priests in Israel, being considered as a part of the Priestercodex (P-source) of the Pentateuch. The image of the priests and the priesthood in the Book of Leviticus is quite consequent. But on one band, the Book contains most of the appearances of the word kohen of all the books o f the He brew Bibie, on the other band, there are not many texts within the Book that consider priesthood itself. There are several texts directly on priests: Lev 8-1 O - narrative story o f the beginnings of the priesthood in Israel (ordination and consecration of Aaron as high priest and his sons as priests - ch.8; inauguration of the cult - ch. 9; the tragic aftermath o f the inaugural service: death ofNadab and Abihu - ch.10). Regulations directed specifically to the priests: Lev 6,1-7,2; Lev 10,8-15; Lev 16. Regulations o f the Holiness Code conceming priests: Lev 21-22. The specific context ofthose texts shows that the priests were in service o f the Tempie. Ali the texts in Leviticus on priesthood are considered as a part o f the youngest source of the Pentateuch - so the story and regulations eoncernmg priests have the theological and ideological value more than the histoncal one.

Some objections have been put forward against such poems because they belong to a given people, culture, and tradition. Thus author believes that something new is to be proposed and taught. First, the “I” of the author and the “I” of the community have to surrender to the “I” of the poem. Second, since the human being, created in God’s image and likeness, is placed at the centre of the universe, he can perform a cosmic liturgy in honour of God. In this way he becomes the representative of all humanity spread all over the world. Once he has collected all the voices of humanity he has to present them, as a pure sacrifice, to the heart of Christ.

Delayed vocations call for a special formation path which may not necessarily coincide with the formation path of seminary. In spite of the fact that the mature are not obliged to receive seminary formation they are obliged to observe the norms of canons 1008-1054 CIC regarding priestly ordination. Detailed concept of so-called „mature vocations” was presented in a letter „Circular LetterVocationes adultorum”, 14 July 1974. Current law doesn’t require men willing to enter the seminary after obtaining bishop’s sentence declaring nullity of marriage to obtain any further consent or dispense. If the candidate has children they must be grown up and economically self-sufficient. Formation for „second career” applicants, seems to be best accomplished in a seminary setting which is constructed only for older candidates.
