Opis:
The aim of this research was to evaluate the biomechanical parameters of lower limbs and their influence on height of vertical jump. The research was conducted on a group of females practicing basketball and volleyball. The following equipment was used during the experiment: a force plate by Kistler, a Biometrics electrogoniometer and a specially designed chair to measure static torque by OPIW Opole. The results indicated that the jumping abilities of the examined athletes were poor. No statistically significant correlations were observed between knee static torque and heights of vertical jumps: CMJ and DJ. The authors suggest modification of the McClymont index (RSI) to evaluate the selection of platform height during plyometric training. Such modification would enable better choice of loads and better training control of the subject.

A graph H is obtained from a graph G by an edge rotation if G contains three distinct vertices u,v, and w such that uv ∈ E(G), uw ∉ E(G), and H = G-uv+uw. A graph H is obtained from a graph G by an edge jump if G contains four distinct vertices u,v,w, and x such that uv ∈ E(G), wx∉ E(G), and H = G-uv+wx. If a graph H is obtained from a graph G by a sequence of edge jumps, then G is said to be j-transformed into H. It is shown that for every two graphs G and H of the same order (at least 5) and same size, G can be j-transformed into H. For every two graphs G and H of the same order and same size, the jump distance $d_j(G,H)$ between G and H is defined as the minimum number of edge jumps required to j-transform G into H. The rotation distance $d_r(G,H)$ between two graphs G and H of the same order and same size is the minimum number of edge rotations needed to transform G into H. The jump and rotation distances of two graphs of the same order and same size are compared. For a set S of graphs of a fixed order at least 5 and fixed size, the jump distance graph $D_j(S)$ of S has S as its vertex set and where G₁ and G₂ in S are adjacent if and only if $d_j(G₁,G₂) = 1$. A graph G is a jump distance graph if there exists a set S of graphs of the same order and same size with $D_j(S) = G$. Several graphs are shown to be jump distance graphs, including all complete graphs, trees, cycles, and cartesian products of jump distance graphs.

The article showed the result of investigation of the length of hydraulic jump in trapezoidal channel. In this study, the basic factors that affect the length (Lj) and roller length (Lr) of hydraulic jump were investigated by physical trapezoidal channel’s model. The experiment carried out in purpose to establish a new empirical equation for calculating the roller length (Lr) of the jump in the horizontal trapezoidal channel with the upstream flow Froude number 4.0 to 9.0 (the steady jump). The hydraulic characteristics of forced jump were measured and statistically calculated by excel software. The results of data analysis showed that the MAPE was relatively small (< 5%), and R2 > 0.9 (strong correlation between predicted and observed values) and other statistical indicators are less than 0.1 (MSE = 0.004, RMSE = 0.062 và MEA = 0.047). Therefore, the equation found could be appropriated and applied to calculate characteristics of hydraulic jump trapezoidal channel.

Opis:
Background: The countermovement jump (CMJ) and the squat jump (SJ) are two vertical jump (VJ) tests widely used to evaluate lower limb muscle strength and power, respectively. Biomechanical analysis of SJ and CMJ could help to predict the strength associated musculoskeletal clinical disorder which is most commonly seen among females such as patellofemoral pain syndrome, osteoarthritis etc. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to conduct and compare the biomechanical analysis of squat and countermovement jump using advanced motion analysis system and compare the changes among sedentary and active young females of the United Arab Emirates. Methodology: The experimental study was conducted at the Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital, Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE. A total of 60 sedentary females, and 60 active females within age group 18-30 years were recruited under the convenience sampling method. The participants were randomly divided into two subgroups of 30 each for SJ and CMJ jump analysis respectively for sedentary and active group. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the CMJ and SJ among the young females in UAE population (p < 0.05). The outcome variables such as jump height, and lower limb joint force were significantly reduced for SJ and CMJ in the sedentary group compared to active group. Majority of the variables showed moderate to severe effect size. Conclusion: Based on the study findings, it could be suggested that the “Sedentary Group” in the present study had poor muscle strength and ability to sustain the stress on the lower limb joints as also shown with lower mean total work. Since we have conducted the study on healthy non-athletes’ young females, the data could be used for further clinical correlation and comparison for lower limb muscle strength and power.

Purpose: Lower extremity power is an important physical capacity of a soccer athlete. Power represents, and can be modified by, the training of strength and speed. Pre-season and in-season training differs in the relative emphasis on these two quantities. It is nevertheless desirable that the mechanical power remain the same or become higher during the in-season period. The purpose of this study was to identify changes in quantities related to “explosive strength” and to check whether, in collegiate female soccer players, pre- and inseason lower extremity power will remain unaltered. Methods: Twenty collegiate female soccer players, representing all field positions, participated. Lower extremity power was assessed by a series of drop jumps executed from four different heights (15, 30, 45, and 60 cm). Mechanical power was calculated using subject’s mass, jump height, and acceleration due to gravity. This value was further normalized by body mass of each athlete to obtain the relative (or normalized) mechanical power. Results: The normalized lower extremity mechanical power was highest when landing from the 30 cm height for both pre- and inseason periods. However, contrary to expectations, it turned out lower during the in-season than during the pre-season test, even though no significant differences were found between the corresponding jump heights. Conclusions: It is concluded that altered, perhaps inadequate, training strategies were employed during the in-season period. Besides, advantages of adding the relative mechanical power as a season readiness indicator are underlined compared with relying on the jump height alone.

In the paper we present and apply a Bayesian jump-diffusion model and stochastic volatility models with jumps. The problem of how to classify an observation as a result of a jump is addressed, under the Bayesian approach, by introducing latent variables. The empirical study is focused on the time series of gas forward contract prices and EUA futures prices. We analyse the frequency of jumps and relate the moments in which jumps occur to calendar effects or political and economic events and decisions. The calendar effects explain many jumps in gas contract prices. The single jump is identified in the EUA futures prices under the SV-type models. The jump is detected on the day the European Parliament voted against the European Commission’s proposal of backloading. The Bayesian results are compared with the outcomes of selected non-Bayesian techniques used for detecting jumps.

In this paper, we fix N -many l$\text{}_{2}$-Hilbert spaces Hk whose dimensions are $n_{k} \in \mathbb{N}^{\infty} = \mathbb{N} \cup \{\infty\}$ for $k = 1, \ldots, N \in \mathbb{N} \backslash \{1\}$. And then, construct a Hilbert space $\mathfrak{F} = \mathfrak{F}[H_{1}, \ldots, H_{N}]$ induced by $H_{1}, \ldots, H_{N}$, and study certain types of operators on $\mathfrak{F}$. In particular, we are interested in so-called jump-shift operators. The main results (i) characterize the spectral properties of these operators, and (ii) show how such operators affect the semicircular law induced by $\bigcup_{k=1}^{N} \mathcal{B}_{k}$, where Bk are the orthonormal bases of $H_{k}$ , for k = 1, . . . , N.

To binary trees, two-ary integers are what usual integers are to natural numbers, seen as unary trees. We can represent two-ary integers as binary trees too, yet with leaves labelled by binary words and with a structural restriction. In a sense, they are simpler than the binary trees, they relativize. Hence, contrary to the extensions known from Arithmetic and Algebra, this integer extension does not make the starting objects more complex.
We use a semantic construction to get this extension. This method differs from the algebraic ones, mainly because it is able to find equational features of the extended objects. Two-ary integers turn out to form the free algebra corresponding to the Jónsson-Tarski's "paradoxical" equations. This entails that they have a "sum" operation as well as other operations of higher dimensions.
Two-ary integers can provide LISP memories with convenient direct access jumps and the above low complexity hints at feasible hardware implementations.

The purpose of this study was to compare of two aerobic training methods on health-related physical fitness in 10 to 12 years old boys. Thirty-three male students (age 11.27±0.64 year, weight 40.58±9.03 kg, height 151.45±6.34 cm) were recruited from preliminary school and randomly were assigned into rope-jump training (n=12), running training (n=11) and control (n=10) groups. Due to the grouping, each for 8 weeks did the rope jumping or running. Before and after the 8-week training period, factors of health-related fitness, including flexibility, muscular endurance, aerobic power and fat Percentage of the subjects were measured. The results indicated a significant positive effect of rope-jumping training on aerobic power, muscular endurance and body composition and meaningful improvement of aerobic power and body composition by running training (p≤0.05). Due to increasing urbanization and lack of space in homes and schools, rope-jump training can be a good alternative rather than running for physical fitness promotion.

This study examined the effects of an alternative strength training method during soccer training on the development of physical and technical abilities of youth soccer players. 17 soccer players (age: 15±0.5 years) were divided in a control group (CG) and an experimental group (EG). The players of the EG wore a "weight shorts", with 300 gr of additional weight on each thigh, while they participated into 3 regular soccer training sessions per week, for 12 weeks. The CG followed the same training program without wearing the “weighted shorts”. Before and after 12 weeks of training, anthropometric characteristics, 10- and 30- m speed, the Arrowhead change-of-direction test, the Illinois agility test with ball, the countermovement jump, and the 5-repetition maximum (5RM) load at the split squat, leg extension and leg curl were measured. The EG improved significantly (p< 0.05) more in comparison with the CG in countermovement jump, leg extension and split squat (left leg) 5RM load. The addition of weights on the thighs using special shorts during soccer training sessions leads to increased jumping ability and lower limbs maximal strength in youth soccer players.

Energy dissipator functions to dissipate the river-flow energy to avoid longitudinal damage to the downstream river morphology. An optimal energy dissipator planning is essential to fulfilling safe specifications regarding flow behavior. This study aims to determine the variation of energy dissipators and evaluate its effect on the hydraulic jump and energy dissipation. For this purpose, a physical model was carried out on the existing weir condition (two steps). It was also carried out on four stepped-weir variations, i.e., three-step, three-step with additional baffle blocks at the end sills, four-step, and six-step. Dimensional analysis was employed to correlate the different parameters that affect the studied phenomenon. The study shows a three-step jump shows a significantly higher Lj/y1 ratio, which is an advantage to hydraulic jumps’ compaction. The comparison of energy dissipation in all weir variations shows that the three-stepped weir has wasted more energy than other types. The energy dissipation increase of the three-step type is 20.41% higher than the existing type’s energy dissipation and much higher than other types. The dimensions of the energy dissipation basin are the ratio of the width and height of the stairs (l/h) of the three-step type (2.50). Therefore, this type is more optimal to reduce the cavitation risk, which damages the river structure and downstream area.

Day-boundary discontinuity (DBD) is an effect present in precise GNSS satellite orbit and clock products originating from the method used for orbit and clock determination. The non-Gaussian measurement noise and data processing in 24 h batches are responsible for DBDs. In the case of the clock product, DBD is a time jump in the boundary epochs of two adjacent batches of processed data and its magnitude might reach a couple of ns. This article presents the four GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) systems DBD analysis in terms of change over an 8 year period. For each of 118 satellites available in this period, the yearly value of DBD was subject to analysis including standard deviation and frequency of outliers. Results show that the smallest DBDs appear in the GPS system, the biggest - for the BeiDou space segment. Moreover, the phenomenon of changes in DBDs over time is clearly seen at the beginning of the analysed period when the magnitude and number of the DBDs were larger than for current, newest clock products.
