Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie typowych dla ZSRR dowcipów językowych, naświetlających problem niedoboru żywności. Przekrojowej analizie zostały poddane wybrane miniatury folklorystyczne zawarte w największym naukowym katalogu sowieckich żartów Советский анекдот. Указатель сюжетов (Москва 2014). Ustalono, że w procesie folklorotwórczym, skierowanym na ośmieszanie nieudolnej sowieckiej gospodarki, gra językowa była skutecznym sposobem wytwarzania komicznego efektu.
The aim of the article is to present linguistic jokes typical of the USSR, highlighting the problem of food shortages. Selected folklore miniatures included in the largest scientific catalogue of Soviet jokes were subjected to a cross-sectional analysis Sovetskij anekdot. Ukazatel’ sûžetov (Moscow 2014). It was established that in the folklore process aimed at ridiculing the inept Soviet economy, the language-game was an effective means of producing a comic effect.

Artykuł poświęcony jest rosyjskim żartom internetowym o tematyce pandemicznej. Celem pracy jest klasyfikacja funkcjonalna dowcipów oraz analiza zawartego w nich humoru językowego. Klasyfikacja funkcjonalna uwzględnia trzy kryteria: kryterium tematyczne, kryterium stereotypu i kryterium genetyczne. Analiza humoru językowego wyjawia polisemię wyrazów oraz innowacje leksykalne i frazeologiczne jako główne zjawiska językowe, na których humor ten się opiera.
This article is devoted to Russian pandemic internet jokes. The aim of the work is the functional classification of jokes and the analysis of linguistic humour contained in them. The functional classification takes into account three criteria: the thematic criterion, the stereotype criterion and the genetic criterion. The analysis of linguistic humour reveals the polysemy of words, as well as lexical and phraseological innovations as the main linguistic phenomena on which this humour is based.

In the 20th century, tuberculosis was already perceived as a democratic disease. An overview of tuberculosis became different and less serious. Seven-volumed press ephemerid from the interwar period, that is, Prątka Jednodniówka (Bystra Śląska) is one of the examples. This journal is gelotherapeutic. Introducing satirical, journalistic, literary and graphic genres, it used some sophisticated rhetorical and metaphorical devices to familiarize tuberculosis and made an attempt of a laughter therapy. A sense of community associated with the undertaking, placing the subject in the health resort reality and undertaking medical issues in a humorous manner: the aim of all these factors was to show the life in the sanatorium as well as tuberculosis itself in the crooked mirror of a satire.

The paper describes the early period of Averchenko’s work. His stories were based on hilarious topics, humour and caricatures. The writer used all this means of expression very freely, easily, with a gentle tact and power of conviction, and what is even more important, with humour and wittily. During this period, he chose topics focused on a common big city life, stories of ordinary people, “new” trends in art, always up-to-date topic of man and woman, as well as relations between fathers and their children. Showing the portrait of a common citizen, the satirists laughed at defects of the contemporary world. This is how the particular humour Averchenko’s manifested.

The subject of this article is to describe the strategy to create political humour with elements of fusion of two linguistic-cultural space. The object of this research is chosen political jokes, functioning in the mass-media in Ukraine. The way the task has become a comparative statement of captured examples of these jokes and explore how to use the strategy of language and cultural fusion. As a result, the study failed to establish that the presentation of the linguistic-cultural fusion can be an effective strategy not only for political jokes, but also in any other type of humorous text (including, in literature), and the novelty of the presented task was fairly reliable indication the possibility of separating the subtype of the Ukrainian political joke just because of the use of its components signalled by the merger.

This paper deals with visual jokes consisting of aural verbal part and visual (non)verbal part that can be found e.g. in US-American sitcoms such as “Friends”, “The Big Bang Theory”, and “How I Met Your Mother”. The first part of the paper characterises audiovisual works in general, taking into consideration relations between visual and aural channel. Then, the characteristics of voice-over translations are described. The main part of the paper analyses chosen examples of the visual jokes and their official Polish translations. It is of main interest to see whether the analysed fragments have the same function, i.e. humorous function, also in the target version, and if the relations between the visual and the aural channel were respected by the translator.

Die immer lauter werdende Stimme des rechtspopulistischen Diskurses verdient ohne Zweifel unsere Aufmerksamkeit. In diesem Zusammenhang drängen sich die Fragen auf: Was verhilft den unterschiedlichen rechts orientierten populistischen Subjekten zu ihrem Er-folg? Womit und wie sprechen sie ihre Wähler an, um deren Stimmen zu gewinnen? Der vor-liegende Beitrag setzt sich mit den Techniken und Strategien der politischen Manipulation, insbesondere mit der Technik der Emotionalisierung, auseinander. Im Fokus stehen dabei zwei entgegengesetzte Pole auf der emotionalen bzw. affektiven Skala, die sich mit Trauer und Weinen oder Lachen und Lust assoziieren lassen. Die Untersuchung befasst sich mit dem visuellen Material (Plakate, Onlineauftritte usw.), die Parteien im Rahmen ihrer Öffentlich-keitsarbeit verwenden. Dieses hat das größte und schnellste Potenzial, das Interesse der Re-zipienten zu wecken. Analysiert wird, welche Effekte sich aus der Darstellung und Instrumenta-lisierung der Affekte und Emotionen ergeben und wie sie den Rezipienten beeinflussen können.
Głos prawicowego dyskursu populistycznego, który staje się coraz głośniejszy, niewątpliwie zasługuje na naszą uwagę. W tym kontekście nasuwają się następujące pytania: co pomaga różnym prawicowym populistom osiągnąć sukces? Z czym i w jaki sposób zwracają się do swojego wyborcy, aby zdobyć jego głos? W artykule omówiono techniki i strategie ma-nipulacji politycznej, w szczególności technikę emocjonalizacji. Skupiono się na dwóch przeciwstawnych biegunach na skali emocjonalnej/afektywnej związane z żalem i płaczem lub śmiechem i pożądaniem. Badanie dotyczy materiałów wizualnych (plakatów, występów online itp.) używanych w public relations i posiadających największy potencjał, by najszybciej dotrzeć i wzbudzić zainteresowanie odbiorcy. Analizie poddano efekty wynikające z reprezentacji i instrumentalizacji afektów i emocji mających wpływać na odbiorcę.
The increasingly louder voice of right-wing populist discourse undoubtedly de-serves our attention. In this context, the question arises: what helps the different right-wing populist subjects to achieve their success? How and how do they address the voters to win their vote? The paper deals with the techniques and strategies of political manipulation, es-pecially with the technique of emotionalization. The focus is on two opposite poles on the emotional or affective scale, which can be associated with grief and crying or laughing and pleasure. The research deals with the relevance that the visual material (posters, online pres-ence, etc.) used by the political parties has on the voter recipients. The study analyzes which effects result from the representation and instrumentalization of affects and emotions and how they can influence the recipient.

In this article an attempt is made to discuss the German joke regarding its assignment to the class of bad jokes in German. The question of what is a pun and what determines that a humorous text can be classified as bad or good is also important and very interesting. No less important are questions about the possibility of breaking all rules and norms, both of linguistic and social natures. These considerations are documented by examples of German jokes; on the one hand Loriot’s texts, texts from “Was guckst du?” and on the other from websites. The question of whether an analysed joke is good or bad still remains open despite all possible classification attempts, because its interpretation is subjective, to be assessed for what it is by the recipient from the outset.

The subject of the study is the analysis of a series of Internet memes and linguistic jokes made available in pseudomemic form in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. Comedy itself feeds on any deviations from the norm observed in social, and especially political, life; it captures all the aberrations, nonsense and inconsistencies. The pandemic emergency is fraught with new situations and rules that constitute such a deviation. A vivid social reaction is especially visible in the multisemiotic comic genres, such as Internet memes, due to their channel of entry (the Internet becomes the main channel of communication outside of family communities during social isolation), plasticity and susceptibility to replication. Comic forms, apart from peculiarly ludic and humorous functions, also perform persuasive functions, activating the social need to differentiate between oneself and the stranger, and consequently isolate or integrate certain social groups. In addition, Internet memes also serve as a commentary on current events, thus prompting the audience to take a position. Persuasion dressed in a comic costume seems to be one of the strongest ways of social influence, because it spreads in its innocent and playful form like a viral and becomes firmly fixed in social consciousness.

Celem omówionego w tekście badania było ujęcie komiksu w kategoriach gatunku jako kolekcji. Pojęcie to w swojej koncepcji badawczej zaproponowała Maria Wojtak. Autorka niniejszego tekstu wychodzi z założenia, że w komiksie jako gatunku złożonym mogą być realizowane główne założenia wspomnianej teorii. Koncepcje zaproponowane przez Marię Wojtak, wyrosłe na gruncie lingwistyki, mogą być przydatne dla badaczy komiksów. Metody badań: W badaniu zastosowano metodę analizy komiksoznawczej i kulturowej w świetle mediolingwistyki. Badanie ma charakter wstępny i jest próbą aplikacji narzędzi genologicznych na gruncie rozważań komiksoznawczych, wyłaniających się z nauk o kulturze. Wyniki i wnioski: Autorka doszła do wniosku, że wychodząc z założeń nauk genologicznych, można zastosować koncepcję gatunku w formie kolekcji do badań komiksoznawczych. W komiksach ujawniać się będą również kolekcje gatunków. Oryginalność i wartość poznawcza: Artykuł jest pierwszym badaniem próbującym ująć komiks w kategoriach wyrosłych z myśli profesor Wojtak. Otwiera to szeroką perspektywę badawczą, która pozwala na rozważenie aplikacji innych koncepcji i narzędzi mediolingwistycznych w badaniach komiksów.
The aim of the study is to present comics in the categories of a genre in the form of a collection. Genre collection theory was originally proposed by Maria Wojtak in her research. The study is based on the premise that because comics are a complex genre, it can realize the main assumptions of genre collection theory. While rooted in linguistics, Maria Wojtak’s concepts can be successfully utilized by comics research. Research methods: The method of comics studies analysis is used in the research taken and applied in the context of media linguistics. The preliminary study is an attempt at the application of genological tools to comics studies research. Results and conclusions: The author arrives at a conclusion that going outward from genological sciences one can utilize the concept of genre collection in comics studies. Comics will exhibit a collection of genres as well. Originality/cognitive value: The study is the first application of Wojtak’s ideas to comics studies, and as such, opens a wide research perspective. Other concepts and media linguistics applications to comics studies can therefore be considered.

The article tackles the subject of comedy in children’s literature. The author begins her reflections with a clarification of the ideas that form the focus of her narration: comedy, humour, and word play, referring to selected works on the subject. Next, adopting her chosen typology of creating comedy in children’s literature, she presents selected examples of literary works which employ the aforementioned linguistic tools to achieve a comedic effect. Opis:
The of the article entitled Lexical Elements of Foreign Origin in German as Linguistic Means of Building a Sense of Humour subjects to analysis lexical elements of foreign origin present in the selected German sketches and their function as linguistic means of building a sense of humor. There are two crucial questions here – a question of the role of lexical elements of foreign origin in humorous texts and a question of the impact of knowledge of lexis of foreign origin on the correct interpretation, which is expected by the authors of a joke. The phenomenon of lack of knowledge of the meanings of those words becomes the leitmotif of the joke, however, mostly women are presented in the role of ridiculed people.
Autorka poddaje analizie leksykalne elementy obcego pochodzenia wystepujące w wybranych niemieckich skeczach a także funkcję jaka pełnią w budowaniu humoru. Pojawiają się w tym kontekście dwa istotne pytania: jedno o role elementów leksykalnych obcego pochodzenia w tekstach humorystycznych, drugie o oddziaływanie znajomości słownictwa na właściwą interpretację założoną przez autorów kawału. Autorka argumentuje, iż brak znajomości znaczenia słów staje się motywem przewodnim kawału, krytyce prześmiewczej w tym względzie, poddawane są natomiast na ogół kobiety.

Opis:
The analysis of Janusz Korczak’s actions and beliefs makes him a contemporary Socrates. Socrates is being treated as a classical archetype of Sophomoros, who not only teaches but also plays jokes. In my essay I try to show that in his book entitled Humorous Pedagogy Janusz Korczak presents education and an educator in a way that departs from the one-sidedness of hieratic pedagogy.
