Opis:
This paper presents a vibration analysis of a multi-link surgical micromanipulator joint, based on its detailed mathematical model. The manipulator’s prototype contains 6 links with the diameter of 8–10 [mm] and with the length of the modules of about 130 [mm]. It is driven by brushless servomotors with worm and planetary gears, for which the total transmission ratio is above 1/10000. Regarding the low efficiency of micro-robot drive systems and its vibrations, a reliable joint model and its performance is crucial for the development of a high-precision control system. To achieve the required accuracy, modelling framework has been enriched with an advanced model of friction. Simulation results are presented and discussed.

Opis:
Kinematic model of the human knee joint, considered as one-degree-of-freedom spatial parallel mechanism, is used to analyse the spatial displacement of the femur with respect to the tibia. The articular surfaces of femoral and tibia condyles are modelled, based on selected references, as spherical and planar surfaces. The condyles are contacted in two points and are guided by three ligaments modelled as binary links with constant lengths. In particular, the mechanism position problem is solved by using the vector method. The obtained kinematic characteristics are adequate to the experimental results presented in the literature. Additionally, the screw displacements of relative motion in the knee joint model are determined.

Opis:
A thermodynamic justification for the joint formation is developed on the basis of the diffusion brazing of the Ni/Al/Ni system. The phenomena of dissolution and solidification were included into the description. The first solid/solid transformation is also discussed. Mainly, a description for the isothermal brazing occurrence in the meta-stable conditions is developed. It involves the application of the criterion of higher temperature of the solid / liquid (s/l) interface. The dissolution of the filler metal in the substrate is described by the N0 - solute concentration within the dissolution zone (liquid film) distinguished at the substrate surface. The selection of the N0 - parameter by the dissolution is justified by the Thermocalc calculation of the Ni-Al phase diagram for meta-stable equilibrium. According to the model assumptions, the solidification is accompanied by partitioning or by undercooled peritectic reaction resulting in formation of the intermetallic phase. The average Al - solute concentration measured across some Al3Ni2/Al3Ni/Al3Ni2 joints confirms that the N0 - solute concentration is conserved within the analyzed joint sub-layers. The Ni-Al phase diagram for meta-stable equilibrium referred to the solidification is also calculated by means of the Thermocalc Software. It allows locating the solidification path, s/l interface path and redistribution path onto the mentioned diagram. Superposition of both calculated phase diagrams is also given to show that the joint formation occurs cyclically under the meta-stable conditions.
Do proponowanego opisu włączono zjawiska rozpuszczania i krystalizacji. Głównie, opis dotyczy przebiegu spajania dyfuzyjnego w warunkach metastabilnych. Wymaga on zastosowania kryterium wyższej temperatury frontu krystalizacji. Wykorzystano ponownie program Thermocalc Software.

Opis:
The paper analyzes possible causes of bolts fracture in the connection of the blade to the hub of the wind turbine rotor. This failure has been growth shortly after the wind turbine was started, a few days after the storm. During the storm, electric power was turned off in the whole surrounding area for many hours, therefore it was impossible to control the device. After an initial analysis of failure modes in other wind turbines, it was found, that the bolts failure in the analysed case may be regarded as quite rare. Due to the fact that a significant part of bolts was broken brittle (flat fracture surfaces and lack of permanent elongation), it was decided to analyse the structure of the material in the direction of stress corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement. Among others, microscope analysis of fracture surfaces after their proper cleaning from corrosion products was carried out. The broken bolts were made as undersized, what is mainly used in fasteners intended for hot-dip galvanizing. On the basis of the purchase documentation analysis, it was presumed that the bolts were not galvanized by their manufacturer, which is obliged to perform the routine inspection in production process preventing the introduction of the hydrogenated bolts into the market. Besides the bolts examination, the scenarios of connection loads in extreme situations, in particular the impact of wind with high energy in the most unfavourable direction relative to the blade and nacelle, as well as the force resulting from the impact of the rotating blade on the tower that preceded the collapse of the whole structure, were considered. Conclusions from the performed tests and calculations by use of two calculation models of the connection were presented.

Opis:
Analysis of a riveted lap joint, the part of M-28 Skytruck fuselage, is presented. The aim of the paper is a proper choice of finite element mesh parameters (shape and density) around the rivet hole as well as a study of the influence of different sheets thickness on secondary bending. Riveting still remains the most popular method of joining metal and composite parts of the aircraft structure. During the operation (service) the severe stress concentrations and the effects such as fretting and secondary bending occur, thus reducing fatigue life. The specimen consists of two thin sheets (0.6 and 1.2 mm thick) stiffened with a 3 mm thick frame. The parts are connected by 14 rivets (3.5 mm diameter) and 8 rivets (3 mm diameter). Overall specimen dimensions are following: length 682 mm, width 136 mm, rivets pitch 17 mm. The riveted joint is subjected to a tensile load. The analysis of large parts of structures like fuselages, wings or multi-row riveted specimens can be performed using global shell models. The correct stress state in global modelling can be obtained by taking into consideration the hole in the sheet, the rivet axis (as a rigid or beam element) and contact elements between the rivet and the hole as well as between the sheets. Deformation of the joint and stress state are calculated. Large difference between sheets thickness causes non-physical deformation of the rivet cross sections. Proper deformations of the joint are obtained by increasing stiffness of those sections in a thinner sheet. Results are compared with an experimental investigation and applied to estimations of specimen fatigue life.

There is a dearth of critical ethnographic research that focuses on the semiotic-discursive features of corporate social responsibility (CSR) framing in business and nonprofit (BUS-NPO) partnerships. This article contributes to CSR scholarship by combining ethnographic methods (participant observation, in-depth interviews, and textual materials) and semiotic analysis to demonstrate how a bank-NPO partnership is discursively framed in the context of agonistic interactions and its implications in terms of cooptation. This article crystallizes two arguments. First, the bank’s joint CSR initiatives represent a discursively framed and validated model of CSR as a commodity aiming at advancing bank interests at the cost of avoiding substantive and sustained social responsibility. Second, the joint CSR model, discursively framed as a cooptative partnership discourse, is effectively realized through the practices of the cooptative relationship between the bank and the NPOs.

Opis:
The paper deals with the investigation of the influence of geometrical and dimensional errors on performance of the Tracta coupling. It is one of the most simple constant-velocity joints which has been used in front-wheel drive automobiles, all-wheel drive military vehicles, heavy vehicles and various other applications. The proposed study is based on building and simulating a parametric spatial multibody model of the full joint. Both kinematic and dynamic behaviour have been investigated. Five different linear and angular errors have been studied. The sensitivity of kinematics and dynamics irregularities to these errors has been computed and summarized in design charts. The results can be used in optimal tolerance allocation and accurate vehicle system simulation with the coupling joint sub-model.

Opis:
Dynamic loads of the connecting bolts in a universal joint can greatly affect the bolt fatigue and fracture, as well as the machinery safety and stability. But few researches focused on those. To obtain the dynamic load characteristics of the connecting bolts in a universal joint, this paper established a flexible dynamic model for the connecting bolts. A multibody dynamic model of a universal joint is developed. The dynamic loads on the connecting bolts of the universal joint are analyzed. The influences of the preloads, speeds and loads are studied. The amplitude and frequency properities are obtained. The effect of the preload is small when the preload is in the range of 80%~120% of the standard value. The load and speed have great influence on the time- and frequency-domain dynamic loads of the bolts. The flexible dynamic model of the connecting bolt is closer to the actual situation than the rigid model since it can consider the preload and deformation of the bolts. This study can provide guidance for the fatigue life prediction of the universal shaft and its bolts.

The paper deals with the analysis of deformation of a rivet hole in a riveted joint after the manual dynamic riveting process. For many years, riveting remains a traditional and the most popular method ofjoining in aircraft structures. The residual stress and strain state appear at the rivet hole after the riveting process, which improves the joint's fatigue behaviour. The local finite element models are made with Patran. Numerical FE simulations of the upsetting process are carried out using the Ls-Dyna code. The contact with friction is defined between the collaborating parts of the specimen. The results of simulations of the dynamic riveting process of a mushroom rivet with and without a compensator are compared in this paper. Hole deformation of the upper and lower sheet, squeezing force, as well as deformations of the rivet head are analysed. The influence of the compensator on strain and displacement states is studied. Simulation shows that some technological factors may have positive influence on the residual stress fields. Using the rivet with a compensator results in a better rivet hole filling capability. The influence of the rivet geometry, rivet stiffness and the sheet material model on strain and stress states is studied. Non-destructive testing methods like X-ray diffraction, liquid penetrant inspection and visual detection analysis with a UV lamp are used for validation of numerical results. Comparison between numerical and experimental results gives a satisfactory agreement. Numerical simulations allow investigating the influence of imperfections on the strength of the joint.

Based on the theory of heat transfer, the influence of expansion joints on the temperature and stress distribution of ladle lining is discussed. In view of the current expansion joint, the mathematical model of heat transfer and the three dimensional finite element model of ladle lining brick are established. By analyzing the temperature and stress distribution of ladle lining brick when the expansion joints are in different sizes, the thermal mechanical stress caused by the severe temperature difference can be reduced by the suitable expansion joint of the lining brick during the ladle baking and working process. The analysis results showed that the thermal mechanical stress which is caused by thermal expansion can be released through the 2 mm expansion joint, which is set in the building process. So we can effectively reduce the thermal mechanical stress of the ladle lining, and there is no risk of steel leakage, thus the service life of ladle can be effectively prolonged.

The elasto-static anti-plane problem of a Dugdale-Barenblatt crack in a welded infinite strip is formulated in terms of a singular integral equation (SIE). The weld joint is modeled as a tri-material structure: the weld metal (WM), the base metal (BM) and the heat-affected zone (HAZ). The HAZ is modeled with an exponentially variable shear modulus. The SIE is solved using Tchebychev polynomials. The influence of the elastic mismatching (the ratio between the shear modulus of WM and BM) and width of the HAZ on the fracture load and on the crack propagation is investigated.
